I’m a guy and I’ve worn a clear gel overlay with a matte top coat (DIY) for years now. People rarely notice. Manicures and even nail polish are becoming more and more common, especially for younger guys, so the techs out there might think of it as a way to get more clients :) I occasionally wear color (black, darker blues, greens, and grays) and have only gotten compliments.
I love that this can be used under hard gel. I've seen so many nice colors but have always wanted to soak off option so this is great!! Thanks for this video!
I’m a DIYer and use Light Elegance JG. I’ve always had a difficult time with soaking off. The Tack makes sense as to why! Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was hand-filing my throughout, and now I’m soaking ( with cuticle oil to protect)! Here’s to a lovely mani today! Also… new follower! 🎉
Hi Stacie, did you already take our Advanced DIY course? We highly recommend this if you’re interested in learning all the how and why behind gel nail care. www.thenailhub.com/pages/at-home
Love the video! My husband lets me experiment on him too, but he would never do color! Way to go Hermann! By the way your nail design is to die for, expecially on the thumb. Will you do a tutorial please or tell us which products you used please? Thank you again!
As you know I love your tutorials!! If I not sure or a problem comes up I always look up one of your tutorials to solve my problem! Liz thank you for sharing!!! 💞💅🏼🤗🇿🇦
Hi liz, thanks for this video. It answers all the questions I had about Jimmy gel, which I love BTW! I also used my husbands nails to use it for the first time! 🇬🇧
Excellent video, thank you very much. You also answered my question RE using the hard gels on top and being able to soak off. I can't wait to receive my Jimmy Gel tomorrow!
Did you paint and cure this leaving a regrowth effect or did your model actually wear the gel on his hands for 2-3 weeks please? Only asking so I know regarding the removal time.
Whenever i use jimmygel of mani-cure as an overlay. I always got chipped off or lifting at free edge rightaway!!! I tried to put acid primer along free edge and tack before i put overlay.
Hi Liz, it's a great name for a great chemist! Just wondering how it compares with Mani-cure? Thanks for the video (and Herman's hairy fingers!) Your nails look gorgeous, btw ✨
Mani-cure is a bit thicker and a bit harder to soak off. Very similar though in function. Mani-cure also doesn't really puff or swell when exposed to acetone so it doesn't lift the hard gel off as easily. But both do work similarly.
Yes. The IBX treatment goes inside the layers of the nail so you can use IBX under anything and any brand. It sold not interact at all with other products because it is inside the nail instead of on top.
Hi Liz I can't wait to use my Jimmy gel sample that they are sending me. So my question is can you only use acetone to remove Jimmy gel or can you use some of the other brands of gel remover to remove it.?? Thanks Brenda
Hi Brenda, acetone is usually the key ingredient in most remover products. It’s the main product that is used to break down gel bonds. But there are also acetone free alternatives that do work but work slower. So check the ingredients as name brand gel removers are usually acetone with scent and color and some other stuff.
Hi Liz can you make a few videos on pedicures such as filing using nail bits applying polish and just the fundamentals for a professional looking manicure? Lovely video btw🤗
Can we show some serious love for the Hubs being our model for today?! WOOO! No really tho lol my husband won't let me come near him with it lol he can't stand the sensation of the nail files
I've been looking for Jimmy Gel in the UK and it appears sweetsquared do not have it at the moment, are there any other UK suppliers that do or do you have any idea when this will come to the UK?
My question to you is can you put gel or acrylic on nails that are lifting from the nail bed and also what can you do regarding the nail lifting from the nail bed.💅🏻💅🏻☹
No if they are lifting from the nail bed the best thing is keep them very short. Don’t apply anything (as backfilling or splashing of later can make it worse) and let them grow out. The only cure is letting them rest and grow out again.
Hi Liz, love this idea, ive got to get this stuff to try! Im looking into buying more safety bits, which bit did you use here to help remove polishes& Jimmy gel? I still havent received the " stormy bit " cannot wait ti try it! Thank you!
Do you know what you would charge for a backfill with Jimmy gel. Would you be charging the same as a shellac manicure. Even though you’re adding the jimmy gel underneath or how much do you add the service. I just don’t want to price wrong
Putting oil on the nail while doing a soak off won’t interfere with the new gel application? I’ve always known to not put oil or lotion on before a gel application.
On the Light Elegance video, Jim said the soak off time was 15-20mins without Tack I think? I'm assuming your layer on the first and second finger was much thinner than what Jim was basing the estimate on? I'd like to soak off the absolute minimum time possible.
tmcdgreen for Jim erring on the conservative side of estimates is important cause we nail techs like to round down when it comes to soak off time. 😂😇 but in my experience it comes of within 15-20 with tack as long as you file as I’ve shown.

I love when guys have impeccable nails and black is🤘🏻
I'm in a nail group (Facebook) and there are more and more men joining the group, showing off their nails and everyone loves it!
Thanks so much for showing how to backfill by hand. Very helpful for us DIYers who aren't yet ready to invest in an efile.
He is a great sport 😂😂!! Love your nail design!! Great video as always!!
I love that this can be used under hard gel. I've seen so many nice colors but have always wanted to soak off option so this is great!! Thanks for this video!
Love the design on your left thumb! Would you do a tutorial on how you did it?
I was thinking the same
I love how you explain your steps! Very informative!
I love having a clear layer on my natural nails. Looks 100% natural and gives my nails strength while I beat them up in my day to day activities!
You are an amazing teacher. I've learnt so much watching this tutorial, thanks so much 😊
So helpful! Look for more JimmyGel videos coming from LEHQ next week, and thank you for sharing!

Can you do a tutorial for the set you have on?!?!

Hi this is actually post 2 weeks of wear. My husband often tests products for me to see how they hold up. Haha. He’s an 😇
Love the “All About” series and the JimmyGel. Your nails are beautiful😍

Your nail art is gorgeous! Will you have a tutorial on how to do that?
Very informative video as always. Thanks Liz 👍.
Absolutely brilliant and great information thanks for showing!
Can I just wear Jimmy gel on its own after wiping off the inhibition layer? And use regular nail polish over it?
its lovely to see your doing your husbands nail i am going to do that to my lovely husband thank you for doing this live xxx
So awesome 😃
Can you use tips with jimmy gel instead of forms ?
Wow it levels so perfectly!

Can you use JimmyGel with ibx? I frequently hear not to mix brands which is why I'm asking
Yes. The IBX treatment goes inside the layers of the nail so you can use IBX under anything and any brand. It sold not interact at all with other products because it is inside the nail instead of on top.
Well done Herman!
Thank you so much. Great information.
AWESOME LIZ!!! THANK YOU!!!
So am I correct in understanding that Jimmy Gel doesn’t need to be finished with a topcoat?
You can finish with top coat if you want but it cures shiny.
thank you Liz very informative for us diy'r Can you cure any bonder eg gelish pro bond for more tackiness
No it doesn’t work with all bonders.
I am in love with your videos ... do you offer online course ?

Is there a product like tack that is for us DIY'ers? Thank you so much for this video!
I haven’t seen another protein quite like it but any protein bonder would do just fine for that purpose.
Your nails are fire🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very cool, love these new products ❣️
Thank you ......always amazing videos. So much info you are so helpful.2💜
Awesome video
Thank you for this so helpful. Can wait for mine to arrive x
Hi Liz can you make a few videos on pedicures such as filing using nail bits applying polish and just the fundamentals for a professional looking manicure? Lovely video btw🤗
So. I have to have a license or be a student to buy from this website?
agdalena71 we have both restricted and unrestricted products. If you’re a diyer checkout our unrestricted section thenailhub.com/collections/diy
How many times can you backfill? Do you eventually need to remove all of the Jimmygell and start new?

I've been looking for Jimmy Gel in the UK and it appears sweetsquared do not have it at the moment, are there any other UK suppliers that do or do you have any idea when this will come to the UK?
I believe they are doing some educational workshops and launches over there from what I’ve seen via posts. They should have it very soon!
Hi Lorna 👋🏻 Sweet Squared do have JimmyGel in stock on their website. If you have a look under the New Products section you should see it there. HTH x
Hi Jojo, yes I found it early last week and had mine delivered Friday 😊 thank you so much for thinking of me 😘
Can I just efile all the way to the JimmyGel instead of soaking off with acetone?

Thank you for another awesome video. I was totally distracted by your nails.
I was wondering if you could use this instead of glue to put nail tips on?
No i would not suggest that.

Can I just e file all the way to the Jimmy Gel instead of soaking off with acetone?
Please do a video on how to use a pinching tool. X
Hi I covered this. Please watch this video. How To Extend Nails with Gel th-cam.com/video/26TljNKq2GQ/w-d-xo.html. I pinch at around 11:04.
Do you know what you would charge for a backfill with Jimmy gel. Would you be charging the same as a shellac manicure. Even though you’re adding the jimmy gel underneath or how much do you add the service. I just don’t want to price wrong
$1/min is a good metric when you’re unsure. I’d say at least $55-$65 for a gel mani like this that’s getting backfilled.
@@TheNailHub thank you soo much for the response. thats something i struggle with:)) great work as always
I really love the color of your nails. What brand is it and the name of the color please ?
Josée Chartrand buttercream! Check out my buttercream video that I posted after this
Putting oil on the nail while doing a soak off won’t interfere with the new gel application? I’ve always known to not put oil or lotion on before a gel application.
You would be prepping, buffing, cleansing before new application so I think no.
Why can’t i find Jimmygel on your website.
What’s the efile bit you used there? Where to purchase please?
Liz Bent this is the volcano. You can get it on thenailhub.com

3 weeks!! What a guy to wear those colored nails for that long. I can only imaging all the looks and explaining he had to do.
Oh he's such a good hand model!!!💜💖💜
I wish mine would wear!!!
He will on toes or if I remove before he goes to work. Lol
Love your nails......
Do these ship from Canada? 😊
We are located in the US. You can find a local store/distributor on the Light Elegance website.
