First song I heard was good evening my friend put it on in his truck when I was a junior in high school and I’ve been a fan since. There were times when I wasn’t vibin with his music like blue slide park and all that up beat kid stuff but something about it still resonated. I think it was because he was my age and I could see his progression the same way I saw my very own progression. When his shit started to get darker and more experimental around watching tv with the sound off or faces, I was in a huge hole in my life as well. I was blacked out every day and taking anything under the sun to numb myself and his music started to sound like the soundtrack to my life. He talked about depression and addiction more than anyone else in an effort to help teach people. I saw what drugs and shit were doing to Mac and I realized that that’s what they were doing to me too and people looking in probably thought the same thing. I can honesty say that revelation saved me. I’m grateful for Mac honestly, I just wish he had someone to look up to like I did with him and his music, maybe he might still be here if he did

Recently lost the girl of my dreams because of PTSD from my military service. Struggled with impulsivity among other things. That line about burning down a good thing hurts a lot. Never had so much instant clarity. This song makes me wanna die and live at the same time, it’s the strangest thing.
That lines relates to me as well. Why do we have to build up such great relationships, when we just end up burning it down. People liked talking to him about the accomplishments and great things, but didn’t want to hear about things he was struggling with. Then “when I’m flying it makes them so uncomfortable”... they had things to say about disliking his substance use. He was only using because he felt like he didn’t have anyone to help him through his struggles, and so he coped.
I miss him so much. I first listened to him when I was a freshman with all my buddies. We all went to three of his concerts together. We all mourned bum. We all miss him. We all love him. I hope he’s resting easy. R.I.P Mac 💔😢

The thing about Mac is that, his music is so personal. It makes you feel like you are hanging out with him, the Kids project was meant to make people feel like kids when they listen to it. That was his goal, and when it came out my junior year it felt like he was one of us, and to this day when I hear it, it makes me feel like a kid again, my friends where just like Mac and his friends growing up, exact same vibes. So when I'm going through some shit, and I put on his sadder songs like Another night alone, or now Good News, it hits me so damn hard. His music kept me going through a lot of hard shit because it made you feel like he was there going through the same shit with you. It was just so personal, it felt like you were talking about some deep shit that's happening in your head, with a friend whose going through the same. That's what Mac was to me at least.

I remember listening to Mac Miller when he started. I was in middle school and I woke up to see the music video for Frick Park Market on MTV.
Mac Millers last album is sad boy music, and for those of us who followed him literally his entire career... we NEEDED that album. Hard to really appreciate why we loved it and him so much if you start on his last album.
We watched him grow up. In some small way, we all felt some type of ownership over his success. Because we hustled for him. Went to shows when there was only 25 people in the crowd. And followed him the whole way up, and down...

He was a rapper but he started gravitating more toward sing-songy folk stuff...and it's mostly cool. The dude wasnt a rapper, he was a MUSICIAN. I dont even know how many instruments he could play, I saw him cover a 50 Cent track on guitar and singing that mf. A very talented dude with a sad end. I know he touched many people in different ways and I appreciated what he gave to the world while he was here. A lot of people can't understand what drug addiction can do to a person but I understand what he went through, that may be why I feel this track so much. RIP boy, you were a good one, both musically and as a person, heaven is full of amazing people I hope to meet one day, and you are definitely one of them.

Recently lost the girl of my dreams because of PTSD from my military service. Struggled with impulsivity among other things. That line about burning down a good thing hurts a lot. Never had so much instant clarity. This song makes me wanna die and live at the same time, it’s the strangest thing.
That lines relates to me as well. Why do we have to build up such great relationships, when we just end up burning it down. Obviously with your PTSD, it’s not your fault but unfortunately the harsh reality is that it hurt the relationship. Thank you for your service, and remember that time heals everything

It's 2021. I still haven't listened to the whole album in its entirety. I still remember the first time I heard him. Kool aid and frozen pizza. About 10 years old scrolling on TH-cam by myself, eating frozen pizza.. I cried when he died
You did good by this man, mac was a whole vibe and he always took you on a journey with his music. Unfortunately he was gripped by depression and you can feel it through his music. It makes me happy peoples who have never heard him can still relate to his music. Thanks man, and RIP Mac Miller.

Listening to this song tears me up. I am a huge Mac fan and just the lyrics in this song are so surreal given the circumstance. The “why does everybody need me to stay” and “so tired of being so tired” and “theres a whole lot more for me waiting on the other side.” Its just so much to take in. Also if you read this I appreciate the honesty. I hate when reactors fake a reaction because the artist has just died and they want views. It really shows your character is true and great. Keep killing it :).
3:43 i felt a different meaning from that lyric. it's cool we can all have our own. people labeled him by his past songs as corny. he didn't get the recognition he deserved. had bars on bars on faces. he felt like he had to self destruct because he struggled with himself. "paranoid they hate me" how his peers perceived him. every interview, he's happy joking kinda sometimes scratches the surface but if you wanna know mac, you can, very well. through his music. he sounded detached in swimming. but this song is straight to the point. anyway my interpretation is people don't like it, when he's sad and depressed(which is half true)everyone loved faces kids felt like he had to self destruct to make good music. he would've evolved but sadly we'll never see it now. but when he's up when he's happy i get flash back to his nardwuar interview it makes people uncomfortable. so different. he can't win, so what's the difference? "I'm sick of being too nice to people who don't do shit but consume light". Guy rly lost his light I don't think I've ever seen someone so bright. he's not even smiling sometimes but his eyes were.

I think a lot of people are missing the message from the hook. “Good news is all they wanna hear, they don’t like it when I’m down”. People liked talking to him about the accomplishments and great things, but didn’t want to hear about things he was struggling with. Then “when I’m flying it makes them so uncomfortable”... they had things to say about disliking his substance use. He was only using because he felt like he didn’t have anyone to help him through his struggles, and so he coped.

This entire song and music video has given me so much closure. I’ve been with Mac since day, and never in my life have I been so heart broken over someone I never personally knew. Mac was truly one of a kind, incomparable to anyone else. This song and this video was the end credits to his movie and it couldn’t have been done more beautifully. This is 100000% Mac Miller.

The thing people don't get about this album and all those after his death is I don't feel like it's Mac. It sounds great and I love hearing new music from him. But I feel like in his past albums he worked on he put all of him in them so we would feel what he wanted us to. This album and all the new music after his death he won't be there to say "the album is ready." He should have the last word in his art. Not other people. Then again. Please drop new Mac shit. I know it’s 4 years later.. but the vibe you’re talking about is tougher than u know.
Mac was ready to transcend.. he was ready to be on that other side… it’s felt.
The thing about Mac is that, his music is so personal. It makes you feel like you are hanging out with him, the Kids project was meant to make people feel like kids when they listen to it. That was his goal, and when it came out my junior year it felt like he was one of us, and to this day when I hear it, it makes me feel like a kid again, my friends where just like Mac and his friends growing up, exact same vibes. So when I'm going through some shit, and I put on his sadder songs like Another night alone, or now Good News, it hits me so damn hard. His music kept me going through a lot of hard shit because it made you feel like he was there going through the same shit with you. It was just so personal, it felt like you were talking about some deep shit that's happening in your head, with a friend whose going through the same. That's what Mac was to me at least.
It's fascinating how tracks like this aren't suppose to give out a good vibe but yet they still chill you out and make you happy. I loved mac for this
