At 3.20 exactly if you stop the vid that was me there marshalling on that stage, it was my first ever experience of seeing mc rae in action, and has stuck in my memory ever since , and it was bloody freezing sleeping in the car that night too !!!!! R.I.P Colin, gone but never forgotten..
I was there too mate, can't remember exactly where we were because we went to about 5 other stages that day, but we were somewhere on Hafran, also was on the last stage the following year to watch him win the Championship, will always remember it with very fond and bloody cold memories 😁
It's not the 22B. 22B was a road car based from Impreza WRC class rally car. This is the Prodrive Impreza 555 Group A world rally car, probably the famous 'L555BAT' driven by the legend himself.
The saddest part about that, is he died the same day as George Best, so guess who got all the news coverage, yeh the pissed up goalhanger that wasted his own liver and someone else's, not England's first World Rally Champion (McRae was a Scot, so British, but not English) poor old Burns was on about page 5. Typical of our news, celebrate someone with no talent but completely miss the guy that died from a brain tumor that had lots of talent, such a shame.
Can somebody tell me what is so interesting in driving modern rally cars nowdays? What for we need for example sequentional gearboxes? Give more power to the cars, make them more simple [suspension, engine] and rallying again will be in golden age... In 1998 WRC cars still had manual gearbox and it Was fun to watch it - You knew the driver Was a true boss when he Was pushing maximum... Now You have 3 buttons and everything is so boring... And the style of driving has changed a lot for worse...
It means "You'll see a bunch of fast corners. Pick your line through them. There's no need for me to read them all out". Some people use "up mid" for the same thing. (Better late than never. LOL)
Yeah, that's why WRC going to shit, to many drivers with money. WRC should be a calibration of the best drivers in the world, not the richest being able to buy seats. People want to see the best competing against each other driving and pushing cars to the limit, should be more power, 30 years group B changed because of safety...well the cars are safer now, so give them more power to push, then the drivers will show thier true potential. Higgins should be there!

@Russell Zakai Yea, have been watching on Flixzone} for years myself :)
@Russell Zakai definitely, I've been watching on flixzone} for months myself :D
Still watching this 11 years after my first comment !!
So much has changed since '94 with the internet, mobiles, cars etc, but these great stages have remained the same...
Epic driver, fantastic car and such a great period for the sport.

Who was the 1 person to dislike this video? They need to take their head off and give it a wobble.
does anyone else think its stupid that all these bmx people and x games guys think they are pro rally drivers now?
That's america for you pal lol.
Majestic...so smooth
Great video, thanks for putting it up. We must have had a good upbringing in 71 to like the same thing 😁
RIP COLIN

22b was a long time after this. This is a very early Impreza, probably a WRX.
Yes.

Can anyone tell me what "line" means in Colin's pacenotes?
I think it means that he can hit the apex and that there is no danger on the inside of the corner
