Hear me out. A narcissist malkavian who's convinced he's a toreador and actually becomes obsessed with random art forms. It's so convincing that them being malk is a major twist
If I were asked how I feel about them I'd say that for the most part they seem underappreciated "just because there crazy doesn't mean there isn't a method to there madness" as some people may say
And I'm confident they like it that way, being underestimated can be a huge advantage, specially for Malkavians that excel at being spies. Malkavians have often contributed a lot if not straight out have been responsible for Ventrue successes in both business and past wars, and strengthening the Camarilla, and ofc the Toreador also rule things from the shadows These 3 clans I think are the ones that are closest to each other, and have a deeper relationship than most people realize
I always found Malkavians are more defined by their philosophical and scientific minds, as well as the fact that they are always speaking to each other to be more defining than their "insanity"
I have a Malkavian character in a 5e vampire the masquerade campaign. And I love her to bits and pieces. Her name is Hilda, she enjoys making traps much like the movie franchise Saw. Many people who meet her at first think nothing more of her, she is a bit like an energetic dog and it fits her fine to allow others to think of her that way. She is violent when push comes to shove and has no problem killing or getting her hands dirty. But she is intensely loyal and once she's decided she likes you, theres little you can do to deter her. But she hates the Camarilla and the vampires in charge. They killed her sire and left her to die in a little hotel, she watched as over fledglings dropped like flies and had to put a few down herself when the beast claimed them. but she works with them for now, she doesn't have a death wish. She's willing to wait. She has the time after all. (I'm just very proud of my baby.)
Mine would love her. His name is Bran O’Brian, or simply “Atlas,” a name he earned after hefting a shipping container over his head to save a fledgling. He’s been kicking around since the Second World War, and he’s got a big thing for order. Everything must be NEAT UNT TIDY, so he served as Sheriff to a small city in Ireland for a few years following the conflict. He gained a reputation as the one who “always got his man,” with some older kindred in the modern nights still remembering the old phrase: “The teeth of Atlas are at your throat”
I’m creating a malkavian who was in an “institution” in the 1700s before being turned. He goes underground for 3 to 5 decades at a time occasionally, and recently woke up and started a private psychology practice. He has a family who serve him, father to son. They help establish his identities when he “comes home”. He feeds off of his clients, and when he uncovers their darkest secrets, if they are sufficiently depraved, he twists their mind and destroys them brick by brick.
Loving the podcast! My Ventrue character has a close connection to the Malkavian Primogen. She's a bit like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Loving every minute of talk with her, but haven't seen the derangent yet so still going into each convo with sweaty palms 😂 kinda have the feeling that the longer I have to wait the more f*cked my character is going to be🤔
My old storyteller had without a doubt my favorite NPC, who was the Malkavian Prince, John. John was a Malk, but through verbal jousts with him (I was playing my self-styled Brujah Philosoper King Rodney), I came to appreciate our Megalomaniacal adherent of the Path of Power and the Inner Voice prince. What an utterly frustrating and arrogant jackass, but you had to respect a Malkavian who craved nothing short of absolute power in his city.
You can either find other Malkavian lore videos/podcasts or read and watch some documentaries on several mental conditions. I am no expert on the matter, beyond the fact that the descent into madness is a slow process
Going to be playing a Malkavian in a Wild West setting. Having her be a High End Saloon Girl who’s also a “Fortune Teller” which explains why she knows too much/not enough.
My favorite Malkavian is always going to me my Malk whose mental issue was overwhelming social anxiety. He was perfectly capable of talking with his cotorie and certain trusted individuals beyond them... and pretty much nobody else, unless he planned on eating them. Question, LbN! Where does the term Cassandra come from, what's the source of it? Never heard of Malks called that before, and now I'm curious!
Lore By Night ah, ok. Wonder who it might be in reference to. But I do miss that Malk. Being overwhelmed by his madness led to scenes of complete muteness other than to describe actions... and bringing a member of the cotorie out of torpor led to them only being able to whisper for a few days. While his dementation could inflict some madness on others, it was mostly used to silence others as well, via their own anxiety. Handy when Obsfucate failed, when suddenly the one who spotted him can’t cry out.
Cassandra was a priestess of Apollo in Greek mythology cursed to utter true prophecies, but never to be believed. In modern usage her name is employed as a rhetorical device to indicate someone whose accurate prophecies are not believed.
@@LoreByNightVtM Cassandra was also one of the royal family of Ilios, also known as Troy. She was taken by Agamemnon as a pallake (concubine) after the siege. Then Clytemnestra, Agamemnon's wife, who was understandably upset by both Cassandra's presence and the sacrifice of Iphigenia 10 years prior, murdered them both. Presumably, the last prophecy Cassandra spoke was "She's going to kill us". This was Aeschylus' take of the very short life of Cassandra.
Lore By Night Malkavian’s are my favourite clan by far, the only problem is that most Malkavian materials focus on the compulsions and quirks you can give your character and not the development period of a Malkavian’s psyche. You’ve really helped with my character idea.
I did a test and it told me I was one of these probably because of my extreme pics of adhd i was diagnosed with which is sad but oh well kinda makes sense because I get hyper focused on random things then immediately lose focus not too long after to people in my family that looks like I am on the verg of obsession Ps great video keep up the great work
I just found this channel but this narrator need to do a lot more the voice is great, honestly a ton of potential even if he branches to other game lore, reading audio books, or perhaps a pulp cereal of some sort like the old radio show the shadow
they have always been my favourite clan next to nosferatu. I have I ever get to play this game, I love the idea of making a malkavian who's obsessed with learning necromancy. And here's my 6 characters who best represent this clan. Dexter from Dexter Light Yagami from Death Note Guts from berserk Crazy Jane from doom Patrol Pyro from Team Fortress Fluttershy from My Little Pony

1 idea for a character I thought of is a malkavien with 2 personalities (1 is a self controlled psychopath as the main personally the second one a crazy uncontrolled psychopath both of who get along) the trigger for the 2nt personality is saying the word kindred in response the other personally will say in a crazy/killer ish way "kindred you say?" If possible for them I'd like 2 merits worth of extra disciplines (so they can have dominate and thaumaturgy) or instead a mentor who's a tremere (that way they can trade disciplines) I'd definitely start with the medium merit in case of ghosts and spirits and what not after that I'd as soon as possible max the unbound able merit (its usually better to not be blood bound or be able to become blood bound) I will decide the character background later probably i think maybe 9th or 10th gen should be good enough and there faction is not sobbat (maybe a diplomat who is trying to make some kind of real lasting peace between the anarchs and the camarilla or completely neutral between them or they work with one side and care about the other as well)

@Sneed Feed And Seed bloodlines did such a good job representing the various types of malks.
This is almost my character, except I WAS a Toreador who went mad and people became convinced I was secretly a Malkavian.
If I were asked how I feel about them I'd say that for the most part they seem underappreciated "just because there crazy doesn't mean there isn't a method to there madness" as some people may say

Not disturbed, Enlightened.
I love the presentation of all this!
Thank you so very much!

I LOVE the Vampire Saw session. Would love to interact with your character. :)

I've always loved playing malkavian characters, you can do so unbelievable many creatively different things with the "madness".

Probably!
To be mad is simply to know what others have tried and failed to understand
Since my teenage years I have always love this clan 🖤
I rplay a Malk in WOD.. World of Darkness and so far I am loving the rplay. And, this video explains the lore so well. Love it!
2nd favorite clan, love the podcast
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! 😆
It's also my second favorite, my favorite is Toreador 🌹
Ah, my favorite clan -- but I was unaware there were traditions within the clan itself! Interesting stuff, that. . .
My old storyteller had without a doubt my favorite NPC, who was the Malkavian Prince, John. Some how this just works. Love all the new content
A nice blend of Revised, V20 & V5
"some are but we refer to them as the Sabbat"
Hah! My cotierie doesn't understand the concept of "Organized Clown"
I would have liked more info on malkavian derangements and disciplines (Obfuscate, etc and what malks can do with them)
Where can I get more info on how new malkavian so slowly slide into madness?

It is a Dark Ages nickname

I agree. There is so much more depth to the Clan of The Moon give credit for and I wanted to change that.
Best clan, nothing can change my mind.
I am sorely tempted to roll out a Malkavian childe of Aleister Crowley, still convinced he is a Tremere.

- so we're supposed to be subtle about mental illness....I guess my Character Dark Doofy, the Master of Autistic Auspex will need some re working..

Awesomeness Incarnate bro!
Insanely Perfect 😁😁😁😁😁
My favorite crackheads.
This video isn't about Brujah
Is the "best" Malk the one that can turn psychiatrists "insane?" Naaah, you do me too much owner...
I wrote this as a gift from a Toreador NPC to one of my Malkavian players
