first time watching, i just watched the opening scene about the where the woman reunited with her daughter and then they both died. right there is when i believe the movie was over tbh. literally had a beginning/motive/plot/and end within the opening scene! it was so much better than the movie itself!
I liked the movie over all, but the whole daughter story line should've been cut down some, or preferably never happened. I guess they did it to add more emotion, but it wasn't needed. More heist, zombie killing, jokes, whatever. I really wish Tig was actually in movie. Had been there from the beginning and had more screen time. I really like her.
Snyder really needs someone in the room, especially the editing room that tells him no. for me it comes over as arrogance his last two movies. the justice league he remade, was waay too long and so many extra scenes that should have been cut. the same with this movie, like you said, with the whole daughter storyline. I thought I always wanted a longer movie, but because of Snyder know i really understand the "kill your darlings" lesson I learned in filmschool.
Tell me about it!!!! I lost another 3 hours of my life trying to understand it - ultimately I came up with this. The whole movie was meant to be a timeloop from the beginning, Snyder just got wiff they wanted a second movie and he might have removed some things from when it went to theatre to streaming so that it got green lit. Theres too many signs. Like the Zeus having the same haircut and dog tags as Vandor, also when they first open the safe theres already 3 guns in there.. the story is pretty much we build the zombies with alien technology. They are slowly changing from the inside to robots by Nanotech, america was on the way to sell the bioweapon when the incident happened and started the apocalypse. Within creating a hell that connects the alternate timelines where they keep dying in a loop where each one is slightly different than the other. To start and end the loop all that is needed is for the Vandor(omega) to be put in the safe every single time they are being over taken by zombies in the basement.
The movie for me was mediocre at best. The premise was good enough but there are so many convenient bs happening at all times, dumb decisions, and overall pretty bad characters that it made me want to stop watching. Just to name a few : - the Alpha being faster than the helicopter at the end (I mean come on, they didn't even try), - the time constraint that is irrelevant: "20 minutes left? We got time to do everything lmao" ; - the bad guy is dumb af ; - the first death was fucking stupid and preventable or could have been improved in so many ways (plot-wise); - the last guy who took 2 years to turn after being bitten... - The cast having god aim for regular zombies but can't do shit against the Alpha (bullet-proof helmet my ass)
I understand most of these, and agree with them for the most part but the one that I don’t was the guy who got bit that didn’t turn immediately. If we take into account the idea of the timeloop idea then it means we are seeing an alternate timeline and not the original one. This is heavily implied by the fact that the bite he has is nowhere near the spot Zeus bit him.
@@Sci-Fi_Freak_YT i don't think it's the time loop thing mate. I just think it's an inconsistency in the plot. If it is an alternate time-line, it still took him ages to turn, you can compare it to the main guy and the shitty cop.
Answer: They ripped off a bunch of movies. Ocean's 11 aside since that was the whole point. -Aliens (From the traitor corporate guy trying to get back a sample, to the "You don't see them screwing each other over" line, to the scene where they think the helicopter left them) -I Am Legend (The zombies actually still have human emotions and the leader one cares about his wife so he wants to get her back/avenge her) -The Revenant (Zombie Tiger was just there to recreate that scene) -Indiana Jones (WHO booby traps a casino vault?) -Predator ("It's a monster and I'm just a buff dude but screw it we're going mano y mano!") -Riddick (Zombies that come back to life when it rains. Never used, idek why they lifted the idea) -BVS (Bulletproof batman cowl. Wtf was that thing made of?)
I did enjoy the movie and I am looking forward to seeing the universe expanded. That being said, this movie has the biggest plot hole I have ever seen in a movie. So the casino guy wants the crew to go after some money in a vault in the basement of a casino before a nuke drops. Think about that for a minute. Where would you go in the event of a nuclear bomb drop? In a bunker underground of course. The money is in a freaking bomb shelter underground and the casino boss wants you to go grab it before the bombs drop? The money is going to survive the nuke. You could just wait until after the bomb drops, take a generator to power the safe, connect to the power taps of the building that would be on the surface after the bomb, don a radiation suit and stroll down to get the money. The crew should have known that they were being played from the get-go. Ask yourself, what is going to disappear when the nuke drops if it isn't the money? All the zeds of course. It was so obvious that the casino boss was in cahoots with the military to get a zombie since they had lost their guy. I figured this out in the initial meeting when they were talking about it. They really should have figured this out, being ex-military. If the military wanted their alpha so bad, they could have taken a chopper with a net gun on a line, shot one of the alphas with the net and hauled it up to the helicopter, and just fly off with it. They could have grabbed a couple that way. There is simply no way they would risk doing an op like going into Vegas on the ground to retrieve a zed head since the chance of failure was too high. If a ground op was the way to go, they would have sent in a seal team, called the alpha queen, captured her, and got out. End of story. However, the helicopter route would be the way to go, as they could fly off to area 51 and be done with it all. Again, I enjoyed the movie, but the whole premise was complete nonsense. It was so ridiculous from the start, and the fact that these military folks didn't see it is a bit beyond belief in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the franchise goes.
I highly recommend South Korean Netflix originals "Sweet Home" - 10 episodes and "Kingdom" -2 seasons 6 episodes each :) pretty fast to watch but there's so much to unfold its actually crazy
Man I dont think a film has annoyed me this much for a while. Most of what they were going for in terms of story never paid off. The romance that they stuffed in there was a punch outta nowhere. And Omari's character doesnt even get to use the goddamn chainsaw. Theres was a lot of interesting ideas that never set off and if they were going for loss in the film, there was never any emphasis on that theme.
Honestly shocked that you remembered so much of this film, because I was forgetting it as it was running, which is the most surprising thing about it. Personally not a Snyder fan, but watched it with a friend who is, and neither of us really liked it...
Just know the guy who thought the mission was too dangerous probably died. Tanaka seems like the type of person who would kill you for being a potential witness even when it's clear that you didn't see anything.
Having come out only a week later, the stripped down proficiency of A Quiet Place pt2 is highlighted even more compared to the bloated indulgence of Army of the Dead. Also I just found it really boring.
Agreed. I don’t understand the hype around Snyder. Dawn of the Dead and Man of Steel were the only two films of his that I didn’t audibly sigh while watching.
I thought it was great, but I hated the focus. Maybe if he only did the nightmare focus when they were outside it would be better. Also like why did he need to hire people to get money from the vault then secretly get the head of a zombie. Like just hire people to get the head
@@rulthlessrudy but the two people that got the head weren’t there for the money. One of them even knew it was a fake out. And they got the head from the same spot they came in. And the other of the two that got the head knew how to get out without a helicopter, and had done so hundreds of times. The didn’t need the others, like, at all?
3:25 yeah, that’s a dumb plan. They can’t control the zombies. Venture Bros even went into this and they now have their own nation with a representative.
Fun fact: I actually work at the place where they shot the interior casino scenes, which is the Showboat in Atlantic City which at the time of filming had a large unused casino floor (Showboat closed as a casino in 2014 and reopened as a hotel in 2016, eventually turning the casino floor into a large arcade and indoor go kart track along with a massive indoor water park)
Really loved your breakdown on this one. I might be the only person craving deep story/social commentary from a zombie apocalypse (nothing's topped Night of the Living Dead imo but i still enjoy Snyder's Dawn & the 28 series). Justice for Guz and Chambers btw. Also hope Vanderohe becomes zombie saw-Blade instead of another Alpha. Peace & love.
I was so excited to watch this movie! The premise seemed exciting! Buuuuuut after finishing it, I felt that it was a complete waste of 2&1/2 hours. First movie I downvoted in a while on Netflix.
Tbh nobody could've died if Tanaka gave the the combination and they'd spare some bullets to save the badass woman. The friggin daughter wouldn't even have time to sneak off
Or they could of at least waited to take the queens head until the safe was cracked and chopper was read. But nah, we still got an hour before things are ready so let’s sound a huge alarm to the alpha zombies without having secured a way out.
If this story does involve a time loop, I'm only going to watch the sequel if Vandorohe, D, and Chambers are alive and well. They were my only reasons for holding on with this movie.
I'm not sure what exactly was visionary in this movie. Maybe the plot holes were visionary. The entire premise of the film is the dumbest thing I've seen in a movie over the last decade. A rich guy sends them to take the his money out of HIS vault, but they have to crack it. Why?! Also, if his intentions were to get the zombie queen head, why not say so from the beginning? It's not like they would refuse if they got paid and it's not like this was inherently an awful thing that he needed to keep secret. Also, Zack, no fly zone covers both situations: getting in or OUT with a helicopter. Anyway, there are probably dozens of things that don't make any sense or aren't explained at all in the movie.
Ugh this movie was soo annoying. Nobody behaves with sense. Everyone acts so illogically to an extreme. Okay let me run this down. The four horsemen part pissed me off. One. A convoy would always have two vehicles in front of the package, one of those with a gunner in the hatch. Especially for an important package like that. Two. The package, the zombie alpha wouldn't just be in a container with some straps holding it down. It'd be in a container inside another container, like a nesting doll of containers. Most like with some failsafe explosives. Three. My basic unimportant squad in Iraq had radios with ear pieces. A squad transporting a important package like that would have radios. Also they would have been briefed on what to do if the package container was opened. Not just walk up to the open container all curious. Not to mention they would most likely have air support. Again especially for an important package like that. Lastly. The truck carrying the package wouldn't go up in flames cause it was crashed into by an old convertible. I've seen those trucks get hit with several ton bombs hidden under the road. That car would not have done that. Also Area 51 is at least 90 miles from the Vegas strip. Ignore the fact that the city surrounds the strip. Area 51 is soo remote they fly everyone and everything into and out of Vegas. Basically they could have come up with a better way for the alpha to get loose in Vegas. That said fuck Kate, Batista character tells her. You help get us in and I'll give you millions of dollars. The kids mother goes missing. Instead of being like okay I'll stay here look after these kids. If her dad and his team can't find the kids mother. Kate would have millions of dollars to take care of the kids. Kate instead demands that she leave the kids alone without a parent or the friendly lady they know. So she can go with her dad on this suicide mission. In the end the kids are what? Killed by the nuke? Orphans now lost in system? Their mother is definitely dead and Kate can't do shit for them. And had she not gone in at least her dad would have maybe made it out cause he wouldn't have diverted to go save her. All cause Kate couldn't think. When Chambers jumped into the hallway after Martin made her get lost. The team was close enough to help her. Her boy Mikey was close enough to stand there, watch her get surrounded, shoot her fuel container. But apparently he and everyone else couldn't shoot any of the zombies around her? If they weren't close enough to help her they were close enough for Chambers to yell don't trust Martin he did this on purpose he locked the door to trap me. They didn't trust Martin from the beginning. All they needed from him was the key cards. As soon as they get to the vault after Chambers died they could have killed Martin, took the key cards. If they made it out they just call the Asia guy and say hey your man didn't make it out. Then they learn they have like an hour to get into the safe, get the money, get to the roof and get out of town. Are they rushing around? Nope they continue bullshitting around, playing with the money, having long heart felt conversations as if the town isn't about to be nuked. Why did the Lily help Martin? Why did she trust him? Once he killed the zombie queen and they regrouped why didn't she just go hey guys Martin killed the zombie queen, has her head in that bag, the alpha and his zombie army are surly headed this way time now? She would have had a ton of money to change her life and forget her past. What did she need from Martin? How did Omari make it out of the vault? How did he get bit? We watched the fight. As he was about to be bitten the German hit the alpha? How did he have zero radiation sickness? It was a low grade nuclear bomb. That whole area would have been dusted with radiation he would have been vomiting and ect from radiation sickness. I can suspend my disbelief for a time to enjoy a movie but when shit is this illogical I just can't.
To add, they also shamelessly ripped off a bunch of movies that are far superior. They didn't need Tanaka's boy for anything... the Coyote got them into Vegas and Tanaka told them the entire plan before they left. He didn't even tell them about the "non-lethal" deterrents... I said it when I watched, I would've killed Tanaka's boy as soon as we got there and told Tanaka the zombies got him if he asked...

Zack is just mad. The JL movie was lacking. The direction was good. He knows his art. But I feel like they try to hard to make it an Oscar winner. They try so hard, it gets lost from the material. The beauty in Marvel, is that you don't lose the feel of it being a Super hero movie. They make it so down to earth. For example the death of Iron man feels like one of a friend, a leader, a public figute or a mentor to the Avengers, as in DC, the death of Superman feel fore like the death of an untouchable figure you could never level with. The DC comics have such great stories an character that movie makers seem to ignore. Imagine a movie on Dick Grayson, Oliver Queen (nothing like the CW because that was a mess), Jaime Reyes, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner as an interesting story or even Jessica the one with PTSD). Snyder is just mad that he took the JL and made it too artsy and nothing that could compare to the MCU and Warner didn't like that nor let him continue with it. Because I know many would want to see that post credit scene of the end of the Snyder cut become a movie. But I would prefer a movie on the Flash Point paradox like the animated one, a Batman that's not just a mad, sad man but a man who lives by justice with his many kids, Superman as a bubbly earth loving kryptonian, Oliver Queen and Black Canary as a couple etc
*4:24** **_"Has a lot of POWER"_* *Nice one, see what you did there* *Btw in the case of the Latina girl, her death was unnecessary, but the Latino character he deserved for not saving her* *And is that Tig Notaro playing that Elvis impersonator, and yeah, I noted the CGI, didn't understand why until now*
Fun Fact the Knightmare Justice League scene looks similar to army of the dead cause it was shot with the same lens. Since the Knightmare sequence and the Martian Manhunter scenes were the few scenes that was shot a few months before release, snyder didn't have a normal lens with him and WB wouldn't provide him with any nor a set to shoot the scenes in. So he shot it in his Garage with the lens he had with him for Army. In fact Amber Heard's Water tanks in that scene are just repurposed Fuel tanks from this movie that the group carries.

She's the only reason I watched. I hope she's in the prequel
@@1995pieter Didn't remake it bud
Well Zach does have daughter issues, man really wants to reconnect with her more somehow but it aint really working or translating well at all.
I was reading some theories about time loops and all that and I swear i went insane trying to understand it
And I have heard the zombies are cyborgs
@@REMAINS1666 they shoot a zombie's face and he's robotic underneath yeah

ARE
YOU SERIOUS
SNYDER?!
The movie for me was mediocre at best. The premise was good enough but there are so many convenient bs happening at all times, dumb decisions, and overall pretty bad characters that it made me want to stop watching. Just to name a few :
- the Alpha being faster than the helicopter at the end (I mean come on, they didn't even try),
- the time constraint that is irrelevant: "20 minutes left? We got time to do everything lmao" ;
- the bad guy is dumb af ;
- the first death was fucking stupid and preventable or could have been improved in so many ways (plot-wise);
- the last guy who took 2 years to turn after being bitten...

-Aliens (From the traitor corporate guy trying to get back a sample, to the "You don't see them screwing each other over" line, to the scene where they think the helicopter left them)
-I Am Legend (The zombies actually still have human emotions and the leader one cares about his wife so he wants to get her back/avenge her)
-The Revenant (Zombie Tiger was just there to recreate that scene)
-Indiana Jones (WHO booby traps a casino vault?)
-Predator ("It's a monster and I'm just a buff dude but screw it we're going mano y mano!")

I highly recommend South Korean Netflix originals "Sweet Home" - 10 episodes and "Kingdom" -2 seasons 6 episodes each :)
pretty fast to watch but there's so much to unfold its actually crazy
those were so amazing. i would recommend it to anyone
I second this ! Amazing shows !
When it rains they come back to life....
Little note: Matthias Schweighöfer already directed a movie wich he also starred in
Not to mention how everybody who speaks german knows his name xd
This is the six Army of the Dead takedown I’ve watched on TH-cam and every one including this one has gave me more enjoyment than the actual film.
Dude the shit cgi at the very end when he shot the zombie in the head was so funny to me
You forgot about the robot zombies(cyborgs) in the movie.
It's like a first draft with plotholes left to be refilled in planned sequels with no guaranteeing. 😑

It’s a better motivation for people.
@@lovejoy1311 and they said that the 500 mil or whatever was noting compared to the head so he could just pay the people that much if it is a problem

3:25 yeah, that’s a dumb plan. They can’t control the zombies. Venture Bros even went into this and they now have their own nation with a representative.
The line " some minor issues" at delia was gold. Bravo
11:46 yup, of course, this got cut in the early stages I think. But it is odd that this keeps popping up.

Arturo's absolutely BRUTAL with these jokes
If this story does involve a time loop, I'm only going to watch the sequel if Vandorohe, D, and Chambers are alive and well. They were my only reasons for holding on with this movie.

Had a fun time really enjoyed it watching this movie!
Explain how Bautista didn't ask the *owner* of the vault how to open the vault? Instead of going through all the trouble to "crack" the vault!
Nice to hear from u again
You should watch Peninsula ; zombie heist movie with car races but make it fun
I hope that the simulation they were talking about is part of this franchise.
Ocean's 11 aside since that was the whole point.

I really liked the movie. Wow! people need to relax and consume the movie for what it is, JESUS! Its a popcorn movie done right!
This is a movie to enjoy without analyzing ..
