I read the book for Tom Holland back in the mcu peak days and I remember wondering how the heck they were going to adapt it- I guess the answer was not very well
I did too! I got through the entire trilogy in a month and loved them but I was so confused about how they'd put the noise on screen. definitely works better as text in a book
I don’t know if it’s just me but the recent output has been awesome and consistent. I don’t even watch movies but I enjoy hearing your opinion on them as well as shows. It’s led me to some good ones like Parasite and The Farewell.
I heard that they were never going to release this movie and it disappeared out of the blue. Then TH-cam HEAVILY advertised it for like three days. I guess having the star power and hard work be wasted made them just give up and release whatever they had.
i really liked this movie cause i could relate my inner thoughts are always loud consistently talking, day dreaming and having full on conversations with myself to the point where i start murmuring and grumbling that my family can hear me in the next room so when i watched it i kept thinking how my voice would be like, i really wish in the future some one will try again and remake it maybe into a good Tv series (hopefully Netflix) so we can fully dive into this awesome story i really want to see this story just with little less kid friendly and more centered around adults and our Noise problems
I actually liked the movie a lot. I was not familiar with the books, and find out afterwards that they are a bit different in the execution of the story but I enjoyed the movie and was really entertained
Yeah and maybe if I’d not read the books first I’d feel the same. Really frustrating having your favourite trilogy made into a movie just for them to skip over every important detail. You’ll find that the storyline diverts about 10 minutes into the movie. Real shame imo
The author is super talented - his books are all so original and different. ‘More Than This’ is incredible and still one of my favourites and ‘The Rest Of Us Just Live Here’ is such a unique perspective on the YA genre! Also his book always include great representation.
This cast was an incredible line-up. But jeez, that clip of Tom asking for direction from THE DIRECTOR and being given literally nothing... that tells you the entire shooting experience. This is actors taking a concept and doing the best they can with absolutely no help from the people behind the camera, and for that I think they did a great job. I 1000% understand why Tom did no press for this, and wish Daisy had done the same. Maybe it can be reedited into a better mini-movie.
Davy Jr. and Todd's somewhat brotherly relationship in the second book was nice. It forced Todd to mature and I could sympathize with Davy. Also I'm pretty sad Wilf and Mistress Coyle will never be seen.
To be honest, my sister and I enjoyed the movie a lot, we had a good time at the cinema (suffered with the dog thing) but of course, we haven´t read the books before...
@@sorchacarr579 you mean the dog?... if so, I think whatever I say would be a spoiler... but if you are wondering if it might be triggering, then yes, whatever happens might trigger people

A massive plot point of the book is Manchee's death. I know it was never gonna be popular, but if they were gonna tell the original story well, then unfortunately the dog has to die :( But ultimately, this film likely suffered due to its age rating. Its a book with lots of complex themes, and that was never gonna take well to a 12 rating.
Part of what made the original story so special was that Todd and Viola were only meant to be around 13 years old, so even though Tom and Daisy are wonderful actors, as soon as they were cast and the characters were aged up, I lost hope for this movie.
Didn't really like the movie... I tried to get into it... Kept waiting for it to get better.. for something crazy to actually happen but nahhhh... And then they killed off the goodest doggo and that was the last straw for me...
This is why Kathrine and Grant stepped away from the new Animorphs movie. They are gonna water down the war, genocides, PTSD and ableism the series is really about to make it fit what the ratings say is fit for pg 13. Crazy considering the age range the book series was originally written for.
to be fair though, this was already a disaster in place. it was made in a time where YA film adaptations are dwindling. The Hunger Games, The Fault In Our Stars and Twlilight really peaked the genre, while films like Divergent, The Maze Runner, and Percy Jackson had to suffer mediocre returns. Netflix would later redo the genre in a new format, but that was it.
YA dystopian sci-fi/fantasy are rarely done right. Would have like your take on the Shadow and Bones series cause I was expecting a dumb-fun watch, but got swooped over by the series instead.

I hope they just dont do a sequel. The end of the movie was literally the end of the trilogy I would love for them to do what they did with His Dark Materials and save it but after waiting ten years for this movie just for it come out like this Im not very hopeful
That's exactly it, he thought that nobody should hide their thoughts. Hiding is weakness.. you aren't brave enough to own up to your thoughts. Kind of has a point.

They definitely should have stuck more with the books its sad they give whats his face some good character development then to have his father kill him sad
this really should have been a show, the story was extremely condensed and didn't include important parts of the story and it added things that didn't happen, they could have made each episode about 45 minutes long and each book could be its own season that would let a story like this flow very easily because a story as complex as chaos walking should be told over a long period of time and making it a show would've let the writers include more of the events in the books.

Personally i think the industry has shifted to the point that there isn't as much of a place for ya adaptions as films, rather that they're finding more of a place as tv shows. Like you have his dark materials and shadow and bone which are fairy recent that i would say have been pretty successful. I haven't seen a successful film adaptation in a long time.
i didn't see this movie and i probably never will but every time i look at the scenes it just feels like they made this movie just to see how people would react to Tom Holland doing jungle based adventure stuff in prep for uncharted...lol
