I’ve a fitting for these, your swing speed has helped so much. Now I know what I can improve on. At pushing 60 I’m hoping to be playing for another good 10 years but I’m no Bryson but it’s great you give us lower club head speed golfers vital information.. one of the best videos on TH-cam. Thanks 👍
Had the G710 irons since their inception and loved how they looked, felt and sounded when striking the ball. Was contemplating re-ordering; however, the G730 were released and I was a little tired of looking at the black finish that had showed its wear. Decided to go try the G730s (my handicap is 8.2) and absolutely loved how they looked and sounded at impact. Changed to a stiff flex as a result of my swing speed and they felt even better with the Nippon shaft. My avg carry length with my G710 7 iron is 173 yds and with a few hits with the G730 7 iron, the avg carry distance went to 188 yds. The descent angle of my shots stayed consistent (around 45 degrees) even though the loft angles are lower with the G730s. I had no problem at all launching the ball high to allow for a green landing and not rolling off like most others I've seen do with different irons. The G730 felt amazing and truly felt effortless while swinging (no obvious change in head weight from my 710s) . I noticed a couple comments on other posts about the sound of the G730 at impact and am perplexed as to what they are even talking about. The sound from the G730 grabs your attention and lets you know you've had a decent hit. This is a positive, not a negative! Even with off-center hits (which there certainly were) my distance and direction of the hits stayed quite straight. Needless to say, I was very impressed (along with the Ping rep) on what I was able to accomplish with their new irons. I'm a believer that most rec golfers should be playing GI irons and not blades. Unless you can continuously shape your hits the way you want to without any concern and are pretty much a scratch golfer, don't miss out on trying the G730s.
Thank you very much for your personal experience and knowledge of the new G730 irons. All golfers are different and it's great to get a personal golfers account of what they have found themselves 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Jay love your reviews best on u tube.As a senior and swing speed of mid seventies always find your reviews relevant. Looking at T350, JPX HL, but could you test the Cleveland Zipcore HL irons like Wilson look great and great price. The T350 is very expensive, the Mizuno good value but will they be replaced soon to become 925? Many thanks Jay would appreciate your advice and view. By the way my averages are spin 4500-5700, launch 21-23 degrees and descent 41-46 swing speed 72-74 and ball speed 92/93 mph. So far from fittings T350, G430, they had best figures, then Qi and Paradym smoke. I tend to have a natural high launch. Also don’t like too strong loft on my five iron would like ar least 23 degrees as I like long irons in the wind but still have a couple of hybrids.
I have got them to test, just need to get available time to do them 👍🏻 been so busy with content, with all the different swing speed test and forgiveness testing etc, the videos take a long time to create and produce 👍🏻
Hi Jay! Great video. If you have to recommend between Ping G730 and Mizuno JPX 923 HL for mid to high handicapper, which one would you recommend. Thanks in advance!
Luckily I'm not affected by shaft differences in kick angle etc so I don't see any dynamic loft changes with speed reduction... I'm glad as the media samples only come in one flex 😊
The G730 was announced in Japan on March 5th. Japan's largest golf club trade fair and exhibition, aka JGF, JAPAN GOLF FAIR, will be held today from March 8th to March 10th at Pacifico Yokohama in Yokohama. Japan is the 2nd largest golf club market in the world. If you have a chance, check out the official JGF TH-cam channel.
Interesting. G730 seems to perform functionally identically to the i530 at least for golfers whose swing speeds are in the 70s or low 80s mph - I cannot imagine someone swinging at 90+ mph wanting to use these irons. Looks are good but it has definitely borrowed design language from last model T300. My problem is the issue posed in the video about the i530 irons - what is the point of the G730s because the i530 performs exactly the same but in a neater package.
Absolutely agree! And even the G430 as well. I think with the drive to want to produce something that can and potentially will be a P790 beater, they have inadvertently made the rest of their non players range defunct 🤦 it's that good 👍🏻
It would help but still unless your, delivery favours increased peak height it's going to be very close to not being functional. But again this shows the importance of getting properly custom fitted 👍🏻👍🏻
Two thoughts come to mind.. 1) How loud are these compared with other cast, super game improvement clubs? 2) You mentioned lack of feel. Surely, if you're using these clubs, feel is fairly moot because the design of the club is meant to maintain performance irrespective of strike (within reason) So you hit it, it goes 180...the rest is irrelevant
1) loud..... Louder than most. 2) one part of Game Improvement irons is that the hope one day to not need the game improvement part and to progress into a more traditional iron design, the problem with irons of very little to no strike feedback is that spray consistency rarely improves to the point that a golfer has a successful progression 👍🏻
Loud is an understatement... I was looking for an update to my G- Max set... this isn't it... the GMax is a nice soft sounding launcher... basically same distance as this 730... I'm disappointed
I'll never understand the thought process of giving the clubs targeted toward the slowest swing speeds, the strongest lofts. You give them all kinds of tech / help to get the ball airborne and negate it all by jacking the lofts so much only players who will never buy these clubs are able to hit them.
Really it's getting to the point that 8 iron will be their last iron and then having to go into hybrids to get the functionality of flight and correct gapping. I guess it's just a number on the end of an iron but it can cause issues for golfers at certain speeds 👍🏻
You nailed it on the head. I have g710. 8 iron thru sand wedge. I benefit from the forgiveness. Don’t need extra distance. 7 iron was unhittable for me. 7 hybrid. Considering 730 56 bent to 58
@@tp0376 Exactly, and those 4 irons have the same loft as a 5 wood! Makes no sense at all. All it accomplishes is that golfers who buy off the rack end up with a bunch of clubs that are completely worthless to them.
I personally quite like the Mizuno gear, it's my personal choice of clothes, everyone has their own personal likes and they wear them, I don't mind whatsoever people wearing or playing what they want to....... I'm always surprised that some have so very strong reactions to people having their own personal choices 😊
@freddesantis8320 I have got other bags from other manufacturers holding review equipment in camera shot, Ping and Cobra for example, but I have my golf wardrobe and it's 99% Mizuno as that's my brand of personal choice, I wear it regardless of whichever brand of product I'm reviewing. No brands have raised any concerns of the continued wearing of Mizuno apparel 👍🏻
Do not buy another wedge - buy yourself a Ping cheaper "ChipR" and everything from 50 meters out is yours! The only wedge you need is a 54 deg. for bunker shots and out of 50 meters!
Don't forget to LIKE the video guys, helps greatly. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try and answer as many as possible 👍🏻
Any chance you could compare a g710 iron with a g730. Thanks

Thanks for what you put into these videos. The speed and strike variation means something to me.
Thanks very much for the kind words and feedback 👍🏻
Thanks for the reply 😊Keep up the great videos my friend 😊
thanks Jay good stuff as always
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
I miss a big club head with a thinner sole. Like the ole Zing 2’s and ISI’s
Now those were the days 😊
I'm finally updating from the ISI's . Mine are a good 25yrs old . I'm hoping to play alot more , now that I'm retired .

Ping lofts seem all over the place these days especially around PW. This one’s enormous but still good looking.
Much better than the models it replaces, but yes it's big 😊

@@AskGolfNutwhich? 430 or these?
Whats your thoughts on the G730 and the G430, are they similar or would you have a goto, great review by the way. 👍🏻👍🏻
I think I'll put your suggestion on the list of compares to do, as you have a good and valid point/suggestion 👍🏻
Do you think the retro spec 7 iron at 30 degrees would work for a 70mph swing speed?
It would help but still unless your, delivery favours increased peak height it's going to be very close to not being functional. But again this shows the importance of getting properly custom fitted 👍🏻👍🏻
If you had these on retro loft, would these be ok for the slower swing speed
It would help for sure, definitely may make the 7 iron functional but may still have to look at something like a 6 hybrid 👍🏻
