@theonlygoodonehere2259 I would imagine so. Imagine having to essentially bury your childhood heroes as a gimmick. Idk if I could do that. Especially to Mick.
To me, this feud is still the most successful case of an older wrestler taking a younger wrestler under their wing and making them a superstar with the fans. Randy is my favourite wrestler ever, but even I can admit that he was a nobody before the feud with Mick. Evolution certainly helped, but it was the months of disrespecting Mick, and ultimately culminating with Randy being taken to school in the No Holds Barred match, that resulted in him becoming a made man.
So many wrestlers owe it to Mick Foley for helping make them famous. He made Triple H, Edge and Randy Orton main event players each in one match. He turned the Undertaker from a main event player to a legend in one match. He had other memorable matches with The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Shawn Michaels.
I'm a local, and I remember seeing you at the gym around the Backlash match. In 20 years at that gym, still my coolest memory. I didn't wanna mess up your workout, but I totally jumped on the machine next to you. Best motivation ever.

Mick: Vince, I think I should travel back in time and slam Andre, beat Hogan for the title in the ultimate challenge, cut a promo about Foley 3:16 and put it on a T-shirt, screw Bret in Montreal, beat Rock and Austin in the same night to unify the titles, end Taker's WrestleMania streak, and break Flair's title record. What do you say? Vince: No, Mick.
If you can get Orton invested in a strong idea, he'll give it everything. He trusted Mick completely while other veterans advised him not to, the result was a feud and match that made him.
I really hated getting his autograph making him stand up with all those nuts and bolts that put him together. Always some force that makes him get back up from a 3 story fall , Mick is always in pain with concussion headaches. Mick is the Yoda of WWE.
Thing is, Foley was 39 during his matches with Orton in 2004. Michaels coming back two years before at 37 must have planted a seed in some way. And I had an idea that Orton spitting in Foley's face was Foley's idea. Just had to be.
