I started watching wrestling when I was 7. Got hardcore into it when Hall and Nash jumped to WCW. Stayed hardcore until I stopped watching all together in August 2004 because Benoit dropped the title to Randy Orton. That's how big of a fan I was of him. After he dropped the strap I figured he wouldn't get another run, the new "kliq" was taking over, time to tune out for awhile. I couldn't believe when I heard the news on the radio. I became obsessed with the case and I've read everything on it up to probably 2017.
Nancy was amazing and just had something special about her you can’t even put your finger on. She just had it all. She 100% deserves recognition and being in the HOF!!
I was the biggest Benoit fan when everything happened I couldn't believe it I was heartbroken but truly in shock, I def think head trauma made Chris snap that combined with all the problems in his personal life the whole situation is weird like it being posted on wiki before anyone knowing by some random kid it's all strange and sad😢
When my brother and I met Benoit, Chris was beyond drunk. He was nice enough to take a picture with us but he was hallow, and this was in 1998. So, a good amount of time before the tragedy. So sad. It's eerie to think I stood hip to hip with a murderer.
My uncle got a pic of him and I. In Bismarck, ND. When he was still world heavyweight champion. I asked my uncle for the pic, he said it’s in his box of photos somewhere. It’s weird thinking about. This was 2004.
Here's how I have long envisioned the Benoit tragedy occurring several times in my own mind; and this is obviously purely speculation... Its been said that Chris and Nancy's marriage had been in turmoil on and off since the passing of Eddie Guerrero and maybe a little before that. It has also been said that Nancy wanted Chris to step away from wrestling and maybe call it a career. I think on that weekend between the previous house show in Beaumont, Texas after which Chavo and Chris came off the road and last saw one another and the subsequent Vengeance: Night of Champions pay-per-view in Houston, Texas, it was an argument between Chris and Nancy that weekend that simply escalated into something unimaginable. I think maybe it could have been any number of things that were said to set Chris off (which is not an excuse...there is no excuse) and perhaps he had been drinking heavily or amped up on something and he snapped. I'm thinking maybe pressure to come off the road for good, maybe a marriage in a really bad place, Chris's endless obsession with Eddie's death, maybe even a threat to take the kids and leave led to Benoit doing something he could not take back. Maybe Nancy said something to the effect of Chris spending more energy on his dead best friend than on the family he still had and he took it as a slight on Eddie? This is how I've always pictured it spiralling into what it did and once Chris killed his wife, he felt like there was a point of no return and he would then have to kill Daniel and himself. It's all so insane. I never believed it was premeditated though. Not for a minute. I think it was a moment of rage that turned into a complete horror, fuelled by alcohol, pills, or other substances. For as great as he was, Chris wiped out his entire legacy and we should definitely celebrate Nancy Benoit...aka. the lovely and cunning, Woman...on her own merits. She was a household name long before he was!
See that’s where you gotta look into researching all the case files. Benoit had no alcohol in his system… check out Purplesky11’s videos on this she did a great job going into the case files
They were fighting over a life insurance policy. Chris had taken out a 25,000 dollar life insurance policy on the 3 kids and named his ex-wife as the benefactor over Nancy. Nancy took it as Benoit didn't think Nancy was capable for caring for the kids if something had happened to him.
If you buy that shirt, you are being a wise ass. That shirt didn't come out until after the incident. Don't pity that guy. I don't hate Chris but that guy knew what he was doing.
It seems Nacy was a real, good, and warm person. Mick Foly seems compassionate and respectful. Loved listening to him! I would love to know where to find his article of “Woman”!
There will never be and can never be any closure because nobody other than Chris, Nancy and Daniel were there when all the murders occurred. So there is nobody to tell us what exactly happened, since the only people that know are gone. Unfortunately, it will remain a mystery forever, we will never know what exactly happened over that weekend. Daniel would have been 24 years old today, it is incredibly sad when you really think about it...
@@GrimspecteR. the investigation itself was a lack of investigation due to the pd. I'm not fool enough to say he did or didn't do it. But.... like my brothers death the local pd didn't give a fuck and based on their lack of investigation. My brothers death was ruled a single vehicle drunk driving accident... when the fact is he was murdered during a drag race on a country bridge fighting for the love of a woman against her abusive ex husband. My point is... the local pd didn't care enough to look at the facts on the table... it's just easier for them to write it off as what they call it. If you look at the evidence itself... you can see... somethings just don't line up with the poor investigation. I'm not justifying anything I'm just saying... poor intelligence from a pd can leave a family in shambles... and when I look at at the facts in the benoit case... some things just don't add up. (I won't go Into specifics) but with all due respect.. stfu unless you can solve the case. Yours... like mine is nothing more than... an opinion. Some things in life are never proven. And the real victims suffer every day for the loved ones they lost
Our society should bring using this horrendous tragedy as a learning experience and focus on how it could have been avoided. Chris has no excuses, absolutely, however, logically and scientifically, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, the signs of Chris brewing sickness were ignored and WWE MUST take NLT appeoximatelyv30% responsibility for this tragedy.
I don't like the we lost phrasing here for Chris. Chris Benoit brutally murdered Nancy and then murdered Daniel then killed himself, it didn't just happen, particularly with how many fans are getting about this I don't think what happened should be whitewashed in anyway. I wouldn't be as bothered if we used the Euphemism just in regards to Nancy and Daniel, but Chris shouldn't just be lumped in with them in a passive voiced way. No issue with Mick at all as I think he's very insightful and interesting on this topic and very honest. Segment is excellent.
Agree. We didn’t lose them. They were taken, and whatever condition his brain was in or whatever else he was going though, Chris knew exactly what he was doing when he did it.
The Evidence just does not support this regurgitated theory. I am sorry, but there is absolutely no closure, no matter how many times you repeat a lie.
Chris always had a real life like dark presence !! U can tell he had a dark side to him!! Then add in the road life, CTE the unusual life of a wrestler, it all accumulated to the tragedy that happen!!! Really sad all round, BUT NOTHING forgives what he did!! U are meant to protect your wife and especially your kids!!! It’s just unforgivable!!! RIP his poor little family!!!!
Less wrestlers are dying prematurely now due to this situation. Wrestling was a toxic environment to work in period, shit was gonna hit the fan sooner or later whether it was Chris or anyone else. WWE has to pretend Chris never existed because its the politically correct thing to do.
It’s unfortunate the way things turned out. What happened could have been avoided, Love him or hate him What he did was inexcusable BUT JUST on his ring skill ability he was won of the best
The point about the headbutt after the surgically repaired neck is exactly why I wince every time Christian does the diving headbutt now. On top of it just being a reminder about what happened, just knowing he would do it knowing in hindsight that it was a significant contributor to what happened to Chris feels kinda foolish and wrong.
Nancy was awesome and thinking of what this crap did to her legacy makes me really mad at Chris. Mick Foley's really insightful. I didn't realize how crazy that headbutt technique was getting. great interview.
I just read the police report and holy crap there was a lot going on in that house. The txt messages were crazy she was shitting on Benoit about a trust fund that was in his ex wife's name. She was saying he wasn't a good father and needed to be more involved. She told her friend a week before that she was worried Chris might do something. It was a crazy read. She would hide his prescriptions from him and it would piss him off. He'd call her and tell her what to cook even though he wouldn't be there. They both had prescriptions for Soma's and Xanax. They had a safety deposit box that had a recording of a detective investigating Benoit's name popping up on a prescription drug seller who sends Benoit steroids. The way he killed his kid was wild and bone chilling. Nancy was gagged and tied up before he killed her. It was such a crazy read.
I have always thought the relationship btw Benoit and Guerrero was more complicated than we know. Both guys were great in ring performers, unfortunately they will be remembered as a murderer and addict, but my admiration for their work remains.
I was at a new wrestling convention in Indianapolis. A guy was wearing that same benoit shirt. He wasn’t autistic. He was an asshole. At age 14 I witnessed my Mothers murder by her ex boyfriend. A comment was made that he was wearing a shirt that had name/likeness of a cold blooded killer. He didn’t care. He wanted the reactions. Maybe by now he’s fucked around and found out…
You witnessed it. There were no witnesses for "Chris' crimes", there are so many holes in the investigation. A fair trial by your peers and beyond a reasonable doubt. Look into the small documentaries. Kevin Sullivan.
Lots of guys have taken chair shots and more and never killed anyone. I think the focus on CTE today is overkill in many ways. It gets used as a reason to reduce physicality nowadays, but physicality is the nature of the beast. All of the men and women in the business of wrestling know this from Day 1. Same with Football. It feels more like an excuse people who don't like tackling and the rough nature of the sport use to crap on it than to advocate. Nobody wants to see touch football though and nobody wants to see wrestling that looks soft. It's a touchy issue. As for Mick's Hell In A Cell match being stopped in 2022. Would it really have been? Look what WWE recently allowed Cody Rhodes to do in said Cell; and those injuries came BEFORE the match!
Are you saying she would've deserved it if she was ugly? I certainly get physical attraction but I don't really get people who tie someone's worth and even their morality etc to how they look.
he did but to be fair he did shatter the image of chris in his fans's hearts. its very hurtful to fihd out someone you once revered is a monster, so I think there's some sadness for that loss. even though Chris himself ended up becoming a murderer. I guess you could say he killed himself in more ways than one.
This is Bull sh1t, Nancy kept a log in their safe. It mentions Kevin Sullivan harming her. Chris' son David (not Daniel) recalls Nancy shoving Chris and Chris not retaliating.
I don't think that CTE caused him to do what he did. If repeated severe concussions caused him too go off the deep end then why isn't this sort of thing happening with racing drivers, especially ones who competed in the 60's 70's and 80's when the concepts of "driver fitness" and "post concussion care" really didn't exist? Richard Petty has told many stories about times when he had concussions so severe that he couldn't remember who he was, where he was, or his own children for months at a time.
It's called a Risk Factor. Not all people who experience poverty or child abuse or have mental illness become criminals, but if you examine the prison population in pretty much any country, you'll find a vast overrepresentation of inmates who grew up in poverty and/or experienced child abuse and/or have mental illness. It's the same thing with CTE. Not all people who have it will commit horrendous crimes, but there is definitely a link between between CTE and what Benoit, Aaron Hernandez, and a bunch of others did.
If Chris didn't wrestle, no one would be defending him. He shouldn't be absolved because he did some cool moves during your childhood. The mental health excuse doesn't fly
I used to think 100% percent he did it. But after looking at the 400 page police report, im not 100% percent anymore. I am sure they screwed up the investigation and the family didn't get a fair shake/ investigation.
Still just brushing past the mush ball of a brain he had. No need to bring the one piece of actual scientific proof involved when we want to show how emotional we are. The whole thing sucked. Even Chris dying sucked.
Ok if this was truly investigated correctly, here's a few facts that makes me believe it was a set up, 1. There was empty beer bottles and cans in the trashcan no alcohol in anyone's system, why wasn't those tested for DNA who drank em? 2. Who was at the door and who was the scuffle with? 3. If you're gonna commit "S" your not gonna care if your neck gets bruised did he tape the towel or someone else? 4. Why would he have to tell Chavo the address he was just there and knew where Chris lived at. 5. Who was following him? 6. Who let the dogs out? 7. The investigator said the four dry blood on Benoit s fingers and nose instead of testing for DNA, the moved the body, straight to autopsy n then suddenly that blood was disappeared, why? And where did the dried blood go? 8. Where did the mysterious knife come from? Nothing adds up lots of unanswered questions, and the case needs reopened and PROPERLY investigated correctly! And clear Benoit's name! Test the bottles n cans! And dust for fingerprints! They didn't even do that!
@@zoso7889 Unpopular opinion, but i was never a fan of Benoits in ring work, even BEFORE the murders..I found his style robotic and mechanical, similar to Luger
Thing is though, they never proved Chris actually did it. No real investigation, texts sent from his phone after he's supposed to already be dead, the fact that he was supposed to have been too inebriated to lift the weight to the cable machine to hang himself. Too many inconsistencies. He probably did do it though, but they never really proved that. Or even tried to.
@@Nostalgia9478 I watched WWF/E in the 1990s/2000s and I honestly found Chris Benoit to be mostly bland. Virtually no charisma, no mic skills, was unremarkable whether he was playing heel or face, etc. He did have intensity in his matches sure but I never cared about them because I had no interest in him as a wrestling character. This is apparently an unpopular opinion, but when he was alive, he was not a major draw. In his 7 years with the company, he only got one Main Event push as WHC in 2004. He spent most of his career on the mid card for a reason. It's trendy in wrestling internet circles to yak on about how much you love someone's in-ring work, but it's charisma and entertainment value that draws and creates superstars. The Rock didn't become an icon because of his in-ring work, it was because he was able to make a crowd pop simply by lifting the mic to his lips.. they'd go wild before he even said a word. Ditto for Stone Cold. The roof would blow off as soon as you heard the glass shatter. I loved Eddie Guerrero because it was hilarious to watch him trolling his opponents, he got really into whatever gimmick or storyline he was involved in, etc. Kurt Angle was a legit wrestler with a gold medal - sure, but that wasn't what made him great in pro wrestling imo, he was great because he was also entertaining, especially as a heel. He made you love to hate him.
Botched investigation, some kid updates Wiki 14 hours before its in the news, same kid lives like 10 minutes away from wwe hq, ppv title "Vengeance". Even as a child I knew this was odd. I am not even a Chris fan, however I respected his technical abilities.
"He murdered a friend of mine". What about the 7 year old child Mick? He murdered him too. That would effect me far more than my friend who had at the least had a chance at life.
I saw a video a girl did who went super deep into the benoit case and she went through everything to much really. But from there texts Nancy could be a real bitch and was putting a lot 9f pressure on him bet she started altercation and he snapped.

Some MH issues are still very much stigmatized because the public doesn't understand them, like schizophrenia for example.

That was all debunked by dark side of the rain showing the crime scene photos as well as the fact that he was googling various things that he was premeditating at the time all the way up to his own death. He was fully in control. All this stuff about passing the buck on to CTE and all these other things is purely for the wrestlers themselves to alleviate the guilt but they rightfully should have that they were so close and tight-knit with a psychopath

Logically thinking about it, your scenarios could have happened, but they probably didn't and to think otherwise is to hopefully think he didn't do it. But there was no reason for anyone to murder him and his family. But it makes sense a distraught, and not in a proper mental state, Benoit had a argument with his wife about a separation and he didn't want that to happen. So what happened happens in a lot of marriages. He couldn't stand losing his wife and family and stability and in a small way face. He was distraught his first wife got a lot of money in that divorce and he figured it would be even worse now with his success and their lifestyle would probably taken a big chunk of his income. Any chance of early retirement would be out the window and his life wouldn't be the same. It happens a lot where a husband cant stand losing all that so they instead try to find a way out. We were all fans of Benoit mostly but there is no sense trying to find ways to explain what could of happen and instead deal with what did happen. A mother and child murdered and a father committed suicide. That is what we have and what happened was tragic but not unfortunately an uncommon occurrence.
If it was CTE why aren't deathmatch wrestlers constantly going postal? It was obviously a hit. It blows my mind that people who apparently love this guy believe he did it. I'm not even really a fan and I can see that there was clearly foul play. Why are all of these wrestlers constantly running cover for this?
It wasn't just CTE. Benoit had a massive drug problem, people forget Nancy's family filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of Nancy and Daniel. Nancy had a pill and alcohol problem too, Phil Astin would overprescribe them medication or give them medication without monitoring their status or informing them about the effects of the drug. He spent 9 years in jail for his role in that

RIP Nancy Daniel and Chris love them all
Crazy to think it's been over sixteen years since this happend.
20 years almost now it's sad to this day.
Nancy was amazing and just had something special about her you can’t even put your finger on. She just had it all. She 100% deserves recognition and being in the HOF!!
Because you knew her
? She was a wrestling valet that treated a kendo stick phallicly. Let's not get to crazy, she was not mother Theresa
Do you still have the picture, and can you share it?
My uncle got a pic of him and I. In Bismarck, ND. When he was still world heavyweight champion. I asked my uncle for the pic, he said it’s in his box of photos somewhere. It’s weird thinking about. This was 2004.
No I bet they are full of it. @@drizzyfest6285
Benoit had no alcohol in his system… check out Purplesky11’s videos on this she did a great job going into the case files
u do realize his body had NO ALCOHOL IN IT.. IJS...
@@branhasyoutube how do you know this sir is there a video on TH-cam or in someone's book .

ALL THESE YEARS LATER....I STILL WONDER WHAT MADE CHRIS DO THESE EVIL AND HEARTLESS ACTS!!???????? RIP TO NANCY AND DANIEL 😢😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💔💔💔💔💔💔
Bunch of head shots and pain pills made him go nuts and a mean person overtime it messed with his head and he snapped
Losing Eddie changed Chris. He had brain damage and didn't know it. I didn't know his family but I just can't hate Chris.
I do hope the truth comes out someday before all of his past fans die off. No real closure for us.
Such a sad story.. F CTE for sure! Rip Nancy Daniel & Chris 🙏🏽
Please make that book!
I started watching Chris Benoit wrestle in Stampede Wrestling in Calgary and there’s no way in the world that I could fathom Chris doing what he did.
I saw Benoit wrestle kevin thorne that Tuesday at Savannah civic Center. Nancy was there hanging out with vicky Guerrero and Teddy long at the back.
She was there to check if Chris was cheating on her.
Chris always had a real life like dark presence !!
U can tell he had a dark side to him!!
Then add in the road life, CTE the unusual life of a wrestler, it all accumulated to the tragedy that happen!!!
Really sad all round,
BUT NOTHING forgives what he did!!
U are meant to protect your wife and especially your kids!!!
It’s just unforgivable!!!
RIP his poor little family!!!!
Now knowing how much damage Chris Benoit did to the industry, it makes sense why WWE is doing their best to erase Chris from their history books.
Sad strange time
I love Mick Foley with all of my being.
Ever read his book " Have a Nice Day"? It's a good one. I bought it way back when it came out
The point about the headbutt after the surgically repaired neck is exactly why I wince every time Christian does the diving headbutt now.
On top of it just being a reminder about what happened, just knowing he would do it knowing in hindsight that it was a significant contributor to what happened to Chris feels kinda foolish and wrong.
Truly horrible hearing this happened I know if u watch the dark side of the ring documentary series they dive more into this tragedy
I also feel bad for his other son David, the whole thing was a tragedy
I've gone back and watch certain Benoit matches during the first COVID lockdowns. His WrestleMania XX match is one I will likely never watch again
whatsup with that match?
Regardless of context, the most I can say about Chris Benoit was that he was probably the most intimidating combative adversary you could draw. 🎉
Nancy was awesome and thinking of what this crap did to her legacy makes me really mad at Chris. Mick Foley's really insightful. I didn't realize how crazy that headbutt technique was getting. great interview.
Brutal. So sad
Wtf is that thumbnail? From Conrad's action figure collection that he still plays with in the tub?
From the site where the deaths took place. There's flowers and a benoit action figure out of respect
To be honest, most wrestlers of that time were addicts though...
Chris Benoit was the only wrestler I was scared that he knew I was out in the world and he just could not exist without being angry I existed. 🎉
The whole Rick Steiner/Robin Green transformation into Woman actually took place in 1989 not '88.

he did but to be fair he did shatter the image of chris in his fans's hearts. its very hurtful to fihd out someone you once revered is a monster, so I think there's some sadness for that loss. even though Chris himself ended up becoming a murderer. Fun fact : Roman reigns and Chris Benoit was in the audience that night together

Mental health issues, for example, they've always existed, they've long been studied and treated, but it's only relatively recently that to the public, they've become more normalized and less stigmatized. Some MH issues are still very much stigmatized because the public doesn't understand them, like schizophrenia for example.

You notice people are still saying this b******* lying about Chris being out of his mind.
Sure, but anybody could have gotten on his computer and looked that stuff up though to make it seem like it was him. And it probably was. But they never really made any attempt to actually prove that. That really was no investigation.

@@horncrownedproductions9675 But a tornado could have come and blown the house away also but it didn't.
