Regardless of what anyone says, you've got the skill. The speed is exceptional. I think Bruce Lee would be very proud of you if he were still alive.

Tommy who came from a military family trained from an early age in martial art with his Father who in the Army was skilled in it......In 1974 two years after Bruce died Tommy saw a clip of Bruce fighting Chuck Norris in WAY OF THE DRAGON on a UK programme called 'World of Sport' and the WORLD TURNED....He studied Bruce's physical movement like a forensic scientist...You see whereas most folks were interested in the details of Bruce's personal life as a 'media star' Tommy was doing something quite different...He was asking all the right questions about Bruce's ART....Like 'How did Bruce train to generate power & speed' ?....'How did develop his flexibility' ? ......'How did he learn to read an opponent'....'Why & how did he integrate fencing & boxing into his fighting framework' ?.....Tommy was asking all the right questions from an early age & followed them up with tireless hard training. Cranked it up to the MAX...Then he started reading Bruce's NOTES on combat....Body Mechanics...Figuring them out for himself doing his own research & endless experimentation....Applying the principles of ECONOMY. Not just in the same way as Bruce had but applying them for HIMSELF into so many areas of the Art. Then he linked up with Jesse Glover (Bruce's first student) , & Howard Williams who both understood the direction Bruce was taking JKD & they helped to instruct & inspire Tommy to take simplification & skill in JKD to new levels of refinement.......Now today he teaches folks himself drawing on a reservoir of experience in applying & doing the art of Original JKD.

One of the first students of Bruce in America said that when he saw a video of Tommy and saw his speed and power he is convinced that he is the closest thing he has ever seen that could compare to Bruce Lee.

If you cannot follow him at the Scotland basement or around the world (he is doing Seminars everywhere and he has students in different parts of the world) on his web site there are some on-line lessons where you can learn a lot and take all the advices and informations about Bruce's martial art; a lot of guys just began this way.

While I'm not a fan his over analyzing criticism of others. I do respect and appreciate what Sifu Carruthers teaches and demonstrates. If JKD had 2 paths/branches this would be right hand path/branch. Simplicity, directedness, efficiency, economy of motion. Principles that are lost trying to learn too many styles/techniques. I do agree these principles should be taught by more Martial Arts teachers. #jakehunter88

Bruce's first and best student was boxer and Judo champion Jessie Glover. Jessie ended up a VERY close friend of Tommy's. He said THE only guy he'd come across in 40 years of travelling the world teaching, who had the same explosive speed and power that Bruce developed, was Tommy.
He also said Tommy could do things with his legs that Bruce couldn't. You can hear Jessie commentating and saying this at one of Tommy's TH-cam videos.
Type in Jessie Glover Tommy Carruthers and it should come up...

For real tho, everything he was doing here has already been tested inside the cage, there's no magic and they're all effective. Jon Jones poking people in the eyes alot and everyone see the result, imagine Tommy do the same thing but twice the speed. "Accidental" groin shots also happened alot inside the cage. Uneducated idiots claimed that sidekick to the knee cap wouldn't work because Muay Thai and BJJ will prevent it with this and that, and now when fighters start using more often with great result, the same idiots wanted to ban it. There's nothin to prove here unless you have ego problem and can't stand seeing people showing their training effort to the public
