I remember thinking this about the Covenant Carbine, the bolts it fires are both hot plasma and highly radioactive. Just a shot landing 10ft-ish from a Marine has a deadly amount of radiation exposure.
@@Rozes_xi9 Not sure about the science, but I recall someone saying that if the plasma fired from Covenant weapons is actual TRUE plasma, near misses would still lead to 3rd degree burns or just melts things away, not sure about the latter though

What I like about halo vs. other fps's is that not every gun is just a generic point, click, and shoot gun, but instead has some unique guns with weird quirks.

Let my man Lucas Cook have an opinion alright, this is why halo's community is seen in a negative light because people aren't allowed to express their opinions if they don't line up with one group's thoughts, I play both COD and Halo alot of the time and have fun with both games, but if I feel that COD does something better than halo then why should I be labeled as a "COD fanboy"?
TLDR people like Lucas Cook should be able to express their opinions without being thrown into a certain category of people.

@Lucas Cook to counter your point, we like the halo sandbox more because in COD the only difference between weapons are stats, halo is different in that it actively tries not to follow that formula and makes each weapon unique to the point where they can't be compared to other weapons

So glad it isn’t in infinite. The skewer is a great replacement, as it’s a 1-shot-kill “go fuck yourself” gun that you have to lead and aim with to get kills, as well as a good anti-vehicle weapon

I would agree, but it's mostly a slight texture change in each iteration of the Halo games, until Halo 5 comes up. It'd be a short video.

Void’s Tear is probably the coolest REQ weapon in Halo 5 and I hope to see some really unique stuff like this in Infinite.

I was playing FF Warzone Mythic the other day and we were down to the last minute against a mecha grunt, so I req'd a plasma pistol and broke the shield and head shotted the bastard in the cockpit. The thing is still very useful in niche cases, it just not advertised.
Gotta love Halo 2 Anniversary giving us both the best and worst looking plasma pistol.

Honestly, I kind of love the Halo 4 plasma pistol. I love the design, how it plays, and even the hum. Personally the Reach pistol is my favorite, but the Halo 4 one is a close second. The only downside about the Halo 4 one in my opinion is the capacity. It's a joke.
I'd truly love the evolution of either the SMG or Rocket Launcher. It's your preference, really.

I love how the little door on the top of the reach plasma pistol rattles around when you overcharge it. It feels so powerful it might come apart.

The version of the plasma pistol in CE was so fun to use, even if it wasn’t as cool as the magnum. It would just go pew pew really fast, and the fat globs of plasma it made melted through enemies shields.
Personally my fav plasma pistol is the one in ce, easy to use, particles are gorgeous, very expressive, simple to use, I think it’s perfect

The plasma pistol is such a cool weapon in every game. The charge up pared with a BR or magnum is so useful during legendary speed runs.

Unpopular opinion: This is the best all around campaign weapon in CE. Yes, better than the magnum. A ton of ammo, no reloading, good rate of fire and damage on all enemies (except hunters), and charge shot utility. This is my main weapon whenever I play CE campaign.
Replace CE with Reach and that's essentially my own opinion on the pistol. CE had me sporting the plasma rifle personally. Time to try a new play-style.
Definitely go with Warthog! SMGs are great, but the 4 games they’ve appeared in I feel wouldn’t make for the MOST exciting video, even with the smaller or larger differences. However the HOG has been in alllll the games, with quite a few drastic shifts. I would LOVE to hear your breakdown on its evolution!

I never liked the Reach redesign, Halo 3's was the peak for me as it looks closest to the original, same with the Plasma Rifle, they added blocky shapes to them both in Reach unfortunately. Halo 3 kept the smooth sleek shapes that were originally seen on Halo CE which is why I personally think Halo 3's are the closest to the original guns and best looking incarnations.
Reach is still a faithful redesign and not a half bad looking one but i see what you mean

I loved the Reach iteration of the plasma pistol. Definitely my favorite one. The damage buff was a big part of it, it seemed like it could strip a shield in 3 shots but that may have just been my trigger finger. It was real easy to surprise people with it in invasion. Honestly it's in my top 5 favorite weapons from that game, maybe even top 3

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't really like the Spartan laser. It's a cool weapon on its own, but it completely breaks vehicle combat. If the enemy team has the Spartan laser you might as well blow up your own Vehicles because getting in them is just giving away free kills

CE probably has my favorite version. Everything from how large it loks to its sound effects(especially the overcharge hum) to the aggressive burn to the way the gun kicks around when it misfires gives it a lot of appeal. On top of that it's a reliable weapon and is decent at damaging the enemy. I've always found the OG look to be very pleasing to the eye, even if it's quite old by now.
14:01 Damn, that is what I call being salty. And the best part is it’s justified.
My favorite incarnation is still the Halo: CE version.
Once you learn that thing fires as fast you can pull the trigger, you quickly many things:
1) It has more DPS than the rifle
2) It has NO BULLET SPREAD
3) It has INSANE ammo efficiency. (Seriously, 5 bullets per battery%, ~500 shots in a single mag!!)
4) it is amazingly abundant
And it only has two trade offs: its bullets are slow, which really doesn't matter much in campaign, and DPS heavily falls off against the flood specifically
AS you get better with the weapon, you can drain shields almost as fast as an overcharge, while using less than 20% as much battery. You can reliably hit far away jackals rioght where you want since they tend to stand still. You can use it during extended engagements where ammo is either scarce or reloading is a heavy time sink.
Also on Two Betrayals, you can even use it to kill the Wraith at the very beginning before the Elite spawns in it, since it's the only weapon with enough ammo and reach to get it (yes, even on OG Xbox with the "reduced" range), both the needler and Rifle will have their projectiles despawn before they collide with the Wraith.
The plasma pistol evolves from a filler weapon that will barely get you out of something to one of extreme value and utility, at this point during legendary runs I consistently run the plasma pistol over any other weapon since it's a DPS and anti-shield powerhouse, and I don't need to worry about running out of ammo since it's everywhere and one pistol can be used for loooooong time.
As the incarnations progressed, many of these other functions regressed. DPS got lower, ammo efficiency got lower, etc. Also, for some reason it felt less impactful over time too, enemies stopped flinching when getting hit by it, shields stopped flaring violently when hit by it. And while it's utility admittedly got more varied and useful, using it as a **weapon** became less and less viable (though 343 halo's have restored it's viability in that sector considerably, though it's downsides remain problematic).
The Plasma Pistol is my favorite weapon in all of Halo, followed by the Needle Rifle and Assault Rifle. I hope on day I may see a variant that reaches for the heights of it's CE brother.

My ideal plasma pistol is CE's with the vehicle EMP. It's the only one that felt good shoot it as fast as you could pull the trigger. Plus it was able to kill, to a degree. Like you could overcharge an elite shield, and just let loose another dozen plasma shots to finish 'em off if you so wanted. But it didn't have much range outside the overcharge, allowing the magnum to come into play for noob combos. Same thing goes for multiplayer, where you can either overcharge a spartan with it, or let loose cosistent rapid fire plasma shots to get a kill. Also it might just be me, but the viewmodel animations for CE's plasma pistol the best one imo, because there's not that weird jump in the recoil between shots like the later iterations when rapid firing.
that idea of turning the Void's Tear concept into a gravity-manipulating weapon of it's own sounds really cool to me

You know what would have been pretty cool? Instead of having weapons change to a lethality focus as the timeline moves on, I think it would have been cool to see prequel games where the UNSC is fighting the innies where, with no energy shields, lethality plays a big role. Then as they encounter the covenant, the sandbox introduces utility weapons to help with the shielded elites that your assault rifle just no longer has the ability to chew through.
I feel that as tech improves, weapons should feel more utility based.

I just hate 343, there's just nothing redeeming to me. Any artistic design, the gameplay, the story of 5, the lies of 5.... I honestly have no hope for infinite even with statham at the wheel

The rocket launcher uses knight armor sounds for reloading and swinging, they're from library called Sound Ideas Series 6000 Extension I or something like that.
I do like that, unlike most games, the bad guys' cannon fodder weapon is actually interesting and effective in Halo.
While the charging sound of halo 5's iteration of the plasma pistol is not that loved, the unovercharged shots sound beautifully
in the next weapon evolution take a look at spv3 too coz it used a cool weapons sandbox like the other halo games
Halo CE was such a genius game. They never returned to that level and probably never will.
Would recommend you make a video that does an umbrella summary of weapons or vehicles that have been short-lived by being in just 1 or 2 games. I'm not sure what sort of info you can get from something like that, but it'd be interesting to hear how your experience with them was.

You forgot one thing. The legendary cursed plasma pistol in halo CE. There is a mod that changes how many of the weapons in the game works, and this includes many other things like grenades, and vehicles etc.. Well the cursed plasma pistol takes a very long time to charge, and to fully charge it up, you have to let it drain your energy shields. But, once your shields are drained, you can fire it. It will fire a gigantic green nuke, which will instantly kill anything in it's vicinity. This thing doesn't just emp vehicles. It can completely destroy them, along with any covenant nearby. In all seriousness though xD, the plasma pistol is great in every halo, and yes even in halo 4 for the campaign. While the ammo is reduced in halo 4, you can still use it to effectively kill elites, and plenty of grunts spawn in each area, so you do have enough ammo. It is more of a inconvenience in campaign. In multiplayer though, It's only useful for getting like 4 or 5 kills (at least in halo 4). As for every other halo, the plasma pistol is my favourite, and I use it all the time. In halo 5 and reach especially, since it can be more effective than the assault rifle, and of course for killing elites. Also halo reach's plasma pistol is my favourite for the sound and look of it. Halo 5 for the ridiculous tracking and damage per plasma bolt.
