    5:16 Let me introduce you to my favorite Halo Mexican meme
    What he's saying is: El Pozole
    Pozole is a Mexican dish that was invented at the pre-Columbian mesoamérica (now México), by the Aztecs (mexicas) and the meat they used then, was human meat from their enemies
    The meme is, Elites love Pozole so much they berserk to death when they spot the master chief
    It's usual to see elites welding a plate with Pozole in it in these memes
    Like, how long would an elite survive if he doesn't get to eat his lovable Pozole? We don't now, for sure, but not so long...

    Aside from the weird faces, I think the most eye-catchingly "off" thing about the Reclaimer Saga elites was the decision to make them sleeveless. Even with the abnormal bulk, it always felt like the arm armor was a glaringly missing piece, so it was great to see it return in Infinite. Hope that if/when Arbiter gets the spotlight again they can return it to something more like H2A.

      @@daltonburroughs3811 I'm referring to style. halo 1 didn't have monkeys 'saying you weak I strong vanished blah blah blah' and had the flood. Which made it very foreign. Reach and 4 were closer in that sense. Even if it copied the 2nd mission it didn't with the rest, in which the rest of the franchise does fall in line with a lot. It copied the 2nd mission, but other games have snow levels, deserts or alien swamps by contrast, not anymore. Namely covenant themed levels aren't even possible because now their ENTIRE signature purple curvy technology doesn't even look theirs or even alien at all. It's pure metal blocks and shapes that can blend in with human or forerunner stuff. You can ocasionally tell it isn't due to stereotypical evil red accents. Their weapons especially took a toll with literal revolvers or harpoons, and the human weapons have very modern, non-2550 designs like the pistol, commando or shotgun wouldn't fit in line with CE's advanced, complex glowing guns. The marines are good but still from today, unlike CE's borderline robotic armors. Other huge difference is UNSC maps, in CE they look entirely other worldly and futuristic but now it's almost like they accidentally ported cs_italy. This breaks the science fiction atmosphere. And worst, cat ears and hologram flowers for spartans. You'll notice none of this points happen in 4/5 which should be enough proof that they were actually closer.

    One thing I noticed because of my experience With StarCraft prior to getting into Halo is how the Elites and the Protoss have a surprisingly similar look. Obviously there's differences between them (Elite mandibles and Protoss ponytails) but the digitigrade legs with two toes, the hands with two fingers and two thumbs, and that slender, graceful look in their early incarnations... I'm sure it's because they drew from similar inspirations, but it is interesting to see how people are drawn to similar concepts for their inhuman species.

    • @SirAuron777
      @SirAuron777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, not to mention their noble warrior like personalities as well. Also, the 3 factions in StarCraft also inspired the factions in halo in my opinion. Terrans=Humans, which have Spartans who wear armor similar to the Terran marines, Protoss=Covenant, and the Zerg=Flood, as both are an all consuming species and seen as a threat to life by both Terrans/Humans and Protoss/Covenant. Also the Overmind=Gravemind

    Personally I love the halo CE and reach elites.. which is weird because they’re both so much different from each other.
    I can’t decide which ones I prefer, on one hand that slender design with the metallic shiny armour is iconic but I absolutely love the versatility of the reach armours.
    Everything from the rangers being used for Eva combat to the intimidating presence of an elite ultra with a concussion rifle was super memorable, even the iconic bob ranger elites that showed up and disappeared if they weren’t killed quick enough were interesting even if it was just a colour change with stronger shields.

    i love how in the intro he mentions how you may have named the elites in the days of xb360. it reminded me that back in the day i was playing on an old composite, fat tv, not a flat screen, using composite analog cables rather than HDMI cable and the resolution was so terrible that when you run into the gold zealot elite w/ the energy sword on The Lost Cartographer, when you enter the structure and have to exit the warthog, the resolution was so terrible that when it plays the message "IT'S QUIET...." a buddy watching me play misread it as saying "IT'S ERIC..." therefore resulting in 15 years of that one specific elite being named "Eric". 29 years old today, and since this mis-read at 14 years old, i've never been able to (or wanted to) correct this in my mind 🥲. Everytime i play that mission and run into good ol' Eric, it's like meeting an old friend lagain. For 2 seconds. Before he's smacked in the back with an AR and killed instantly, not knowing what hit him.

  • @Toast_94
    @Toast_94 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Something players might not realize about the elites in the first game. Is that unlike the later games, most elites in Halo 1 don't actually throw grenades at all.
    Instead it's the grunts job to lob the glowing sticky bombs of blue death.
    This is what makes the grunts so dangerous to you and your marines, but if you spot one about to toss a grenade and you shoot him fast enough, the clumsy little guy will fumble and drop the grenade, potentially blowing himself up and his alien compatriots closeby.
    They give a loud warning that you can easily hear over the chaos by yelling something like "Here it goes!", "Heads up!" or "Down in front!" while they ready their explosive, they lob their grenades up high to lazily sail through the air in an arc, but they are surprisingly accurate and absolutely will get you with that grenade if you aren't moving very much.
    However, remember when I said that MOST elites don't throw grenades? Throughout the campaign, the grunts have been teaching the player the foundations of how to play against grenades.
    When the black spec ops elites are introduced in the last mission and a half, these elites distinguish themselves from other elites not only in higher health and shield strength but they throw grenades.
    These elites don't just lob grenades like the grunts do, oh no, they downright HURL grenades hard and fast; sending the grenade right at you with the highest velocity of any grenade throwing enemy in the entire franchise. They don't fumble, they don't even have the courtesy to announce that they're about to pitch one at you either. They take everything the grunts taught you about grenades and truly test your footwork for some of the final dances in the game.
    For that, Spec ops elites are arguably the toughest elites in the entire series.

    It's extremely frustrating that Infinite didn't make them playable when considering their hitboxes are probably the closest and most balanced compared to Spartans since Halo 3 (minus the assault helmet bug)
    I just don't feel like Reach or H2A MP handled playable elites very well due to the size differences. It caused Reach elites to be limited to one gamemode and customs, and while H2A MP's elites were more readily available to play as, their size put them at a major disadvantage.

    The reclaimer saga designs never bothered me since I saw it more as another Race and they fulfilled their role as a more sluggish but competent enemy, just not as sophisticated as the Elites who chose to side with humanity.
    Infinite’s Elites were a step in the right direction, and voice filter absence aside have put the elites in a great spot again as formidable enemy. In time hopefully the fans who yearn for the opportunity to play Elites again will get their chance.
    Could be possibly in a dlc that would involve Arbiter, and essentially be a season for Elites much like MCC did with a fair balance of Elite and Spartan armor customization.
    Best version of the Elites for me has to be Halo 2. They carry a sense of honor to them and are capable enemies that can easily kill you if you underestimate them.
