- It's finally time to present the DREAM BUILD of the incredible S-Works Aethos with a huge variety of amazing components representing the cutting edge of lightweight bicycle products. It is fairly easy to create a sub-5kg road bike these days considering the variety of components available but we wanted our Dream Build to be different.. we wanted it to be useable in the real world, something to do hundreds and thousands of miles on without issue across a variety of terrain, we wanted it to be dual ring with proper rotors (160mm).. let us know if you like what we created!

@@harshyadav9402 I think it is a misunderstanding, it was a general remark, it is practiced to calculate the weight of a bicycle in this way in general. It has nothing to do with the work of this gentleman, whom I appreciate as such and whom I wish success in his work.

You know it's a light build when you are there thinking, "I wonder how much that amount of grease weights?"
could have easily shaved 10 grams in exchange for a few creaky bolts

The weight savings will definitely make up for the power lost by not having pedals XD

my 58cm is 5.5kg with pedals garmin mount/gopro mount and bottle cages.
Happy to see a front derailleur on this build. I know 1x works for a lot of ppl but in my opinion it's not a proper road bike without a double in front. It makes the weight of this bike even more impressive!
with 12 speed now do you even need a double in the front though?

Im an amateur in this world of cycling and road its not my preference but in the last year and a half ive been learning a lot, i really like to see your videos, after a stressfull day of work this videos are better than a xanax lol. Great work, congrats to you and your team.

That wheelset is insanely light, I would have liked to see some more info on them.
It is amazing how you built this bike without flat handlebars, a 1x setup, a shorter stem, half to the handlebar tape etc, It shows how much bikes have evolved until now.
Awesome build! Must've been fun to not have to mess with cables/wires going through the headset for once!

NICE, i had a Cannondale Evo HI-MOD that was 12.4 pounds with Speedplay 150 gram T pedals, ENVE tubulars, etc. I prefer old school rim brakes with either THM or Ciamillo. I never knew Ceramic speed made wheels, they look shallow. I bought a Focus Izalco max rim brake and electronic 750 gram frame but i never built it up, all i needed was the SRAM Red 12 speed. Love that crank ===$$$$$$$$$

Stupid question incoming and I will say that I watched this entire video in pure amazement as someone who is just on the fringe of getting into higher end bikes, but why aren’t pedals considered in the weight of the overall bike? Thanks in advance, everyone!
it's usually the way a manufacturer weight a bike
Even if that threaded bb adds a few grams compared to pressfit, it’s a cost I’d be willing to pay! Happy to see frames moving back towards threaded bbs
For sure its a sacrifice worth making!
Watchig a single 5 minutes of the Parktool repair video for pressfit was all I needed to convince myself to never ever ever touch a pressfit bike.
If you wanna carry your bike into your back in all tour, that's the best bike out there
Perfect music for a perfect bike. 1x would be my choice with SRAM Red to avoid the box. But those are just personal preferences I guess. It is a black beauty!

The best thing about light bikes is acceleration. Light wheels are way more important than a light frame. It could be lighter with rimbrakes.

Surprised they went with exposed di2 junction vs the barend which is much clear ☹️ - think the bar rape on is wrapped backwards too. Bike looks great nonetheless! Always pleasure watching these

@@necrodefecator bar Tape - and yes it was backwards (meaning over time the top bar tape will loosen from natural riding)
A nice direct mount bracket for rear derailleur can help to shave 11 more grams 😅 awesome build video mate

The weight is impressive but I wouldn't have much trust in all those flimsy parts...but mostly I doubt that this bike rides comfortable.
To me this is more of a showcase how light you CAN go.

Me too, I don't consider myself as a gentle rider, so naturally I'm not keen to run über light carbon parts on my bike. Torque specs are lower too.
It’s a vanity project to see how far you can push things, I don’t think anyone would seriously consider using this bike in the real world, maybe for short hill climb events or similar but certainly not for anything else. You’d puncture before you’d gone more than a few miles anyway!

Gelu saddle and Time Xpresso 15 pedals. Would still be over 5kg, but not by much. Do a Time Alpe d'Huez 01 Disc (clear coat frame :-) ) with this Dura Ace. Would be a dream to watch.
