I spent a summer working at that plant. I remember that truck well, I would stare at it as I cut rebar and built the box culverts out back. It had been sitting 10 years or more when I was there, and that was at least 12 years ago now... awesome to see some memories on here!
Hi TipTop, That oll truck was waiting on you coming along to save her, now you have woken her up she needs taken home and all fixed up , hope you have a big workshop and time id love to see her in all her glory paint tires an all oh an mind some New Diesel please Stan Edinburgh Scotland.
I run a mixer and let me tell you.. most drivers nowadays would rather quit than have to drive a truck that doesn't shift itself. Those guys back then were a tougher breed for sure That old girl wants to live.. really hope she gets restored.
Grandpa had one of these as a tandem dump truck. Was a 555. Cummins and an Allison. I bet that truck bounced into a few things with that long nose and extended bumper!
If you're going to bring an old truck back to life you need to replace all the essential fluids, examine the fuel injectors, check the air filter, and open up the power switch box in the engine to see if the power switches are still good.
I wouldn't worry about it running away. A good hard flat-out rev is exactly what it needs - you'll be surprised at how fast it clears the rubbish out and gets it idling real smooth after that.
Now that’s a real truck, purpose built and it shows. Old mixers are perfect heavy haulers, they already have the suspension and drivetrain all a person needs is a Big Cam or a 3406 sitting around and voila you have one mean low boy dragging beast. They don’t have to be fast or go far either, just the ability to pull 250 k lbs.
@@tiptopchopshop I have a 1947 Greyhound bus that sat for 50 years and the valve cover off long enough for the fuel cross over tubes to have holes rusted in them but the old Detroit came back to life. They don’t make anything to last anymore.
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Well, this old White sure had some tough looks about it!! I’m glad it didn’t have water in the motor & transmission. That old Cummins really wanted to come back to life! Even the floorboard wasn’t too bad, from the video anyway. I even liked the old Jake Brakes & shocked that they worked. You just never know. I will have to check to see what all you have done with it. Love old trucks & know that they can be a bear when trying to drive them out of the graveyard or even onto a trailer. What are your plans for it? This truck seems to have much more potential now. Not everyone likes to even mess with these old trucks after they’ve been sitting a long time. Blessings my friend. 🤩🥰✌️
That square metal fender look gets me every time, Autocars, Mack DM’s, Paystars, Diamond Reo GIANT etc. Form follows function and you can definitely tell those models were purpose built.
It should be ILLEGAL and tantamount to child abuse (or worse) to leave an old, classic, gorgeous truck like this to rot. Shame on whomever committed this act of savagery! And it is around a 1973 or 1974 with a Cummins 240, I’d hazard a guess…thanks for the video and giving this girl a second date!
As others have said, you made this look easy. I’ve been unable to get a 2000 Isuzu FTR Turbodiesel running after it only sat two years! Does new diesel go bad that fast? Any tips? I’d hire you in a heartbeat to get it going if you were here in the Austin Texas area.
Any diesel engine as the desire to loose its mind ... Detroit an GMC took a stabe at making there own an its a 50-50 split .... some hate it some love it... Great video 👍👍👍👍
I shore she old. And not kill old girls. I say with the open hatch on the bowl. There was something that went wrong. And conrete went of. Gear box or PTO. Bit engine sounds beautiful. Mick Australia 🇦🇺 God bless mate. 9.30 into the video
What made u think it had water in it....the hood was closed and theres no carb for water to go down and the trans...never heard of water in a transmission before....i hope u had a bucket under those drain plugs

These old workhorses are sooo cool! Man, if they could talk what kind of stories they could tell!
Awesome White Constructor. Would be a great restoration piece. I'd definitely follow along on this project.
No fiberglass in that ol girl, I love the spec built HD older trucks (Mack,Autocar) I’d love to have one to rebuild myself 🐾✌️🇺🇸
Wild noise from engine !!! Beast!!! I loved it!!!
I can’t believe how smooth and smokeless the engine runs
Drove exact type of mixer in Alaska through some mountain roads 26 years ago, like riding on a rock, not even an air ride seat.

That was probably the most smoke I've seen on a first start! Awesome!

Constructor engines were built to last.
Looks like you've got an old school mixer that just wants to run❤
Really nice to hear that gem run again. Good job.

Damn, you made it look easy! Awesome rig.
Simply amazing!!! I rerallly enjoy these types of videos!!
Glad you like them!

Heck that thing is rad. I kinda want it to pull a 15 ton trailer. Love these old beasts before the epa ruined trucks.

Beautiful trucks ❤❤❤❤❤
That's when trucks WERE TRUCKS, they were masculine , tough , clumsy, & my favorite, simple & not environmentally friendly

There should be a sticker on the window to show when it was last on the road.
Probably was on the missing window. lol!
Very awesome Ole mixer you gained a new sub
Is it going to be restored or something if not is it for sale would like to see something good for it service over the years. thanks

Good 👍🏻 job
Absolutely wonderful first start and drive, it doesn’t get any better. What are the plans for it?
LOL at @9:42
I guess whoever drove it last forgot to turn the "fogger mode" off before they parked it!
She really sprayed you good

GMC did make a diesel of their own for a while. The Toroflow which was based off their big block gas V6s.
@@justinstearns9723 your right thanks I had for got all about it 👍👍
@@justinstearns9723 I fixed thanks again
what year is that truck? Thanks for posting and take care
Not sure late 60s I think
Construcktor was '67-78 roughly
Hope you found that wrench that looked like it fell into the works and got flung out at around 15:07 - hit the fan?
It was just a piece of pipe that fell out of the cab. But good eyes thanks
Must be his first time driving stick shift 😂😂😂
Put the hatch back on the drum and back it under the plant theres 8 yards waiting on you.

Wow,....that truck doesn't want to throw in the towel just yet.
Didn't Autocar also have a 'Construcktor' model?
Yes
What’s the plan for it?
Not sure maybe a dump truck
what is that constant engine noise?
Save it and remove the mixer body but add a flatbed in the rear and it would be a good truck.
That's an ugly word "SCRAP", this truck is worthy of a restoration this is good iron.
There you go get yourself in the ready mix business 😂
White Constructor! I need it, where is it??
Vermont
Is that a front brake limiting switch on the dash I see?? I miss driving stuff like that.
Yup, they had a front brake shut off
The Catalina Wine mixer II
Wish you would have turned your pick up off so we could hear that awesome Cummins by it self
Amazing wow
Where is the smoke?
The bowl is hydraulic
So the girl got used for a long time.
That area was expecting a chain bowl........
of course it will start.it's a diesel
You never go to start a Diesel without Ether
Don't rip that mixer body off of it! If you do let me know I'll take it off your hands
those cant run away..... pull the decomp
Are you in the concrete business
No
Mechanical trucks will last forever, modern electronic based trucks will only work for 30 years
♥️♥️♥️👍🇮🇩
White Constructor Concrete truck.
electric 21:34
Вапьще пушка😂
Still cant understand why all these shows try and start with flat batteries 😢
You seen the price of new batteries? I'd want to know if it would run before investing.
1950-1987 white autocar
Cummins do not runaway like GMS.
If something is stuck or breaks in the injector/govener pump it can run away. But rare in a Cummins like this
o y you😮😮
Spray ether
