Hank, I have been around equipment and trucks most of my life. That truck is to clean for a million mile truck. That is a original 155000 on the clock( all the digits still aligned) if the hour meter on the tach works. 4000 hrs does not equal a million miles+ miles she started way to easy and no real smoke other than the nest out the stack. The only thing wrong with that truck she was set out to pasture way to soon
4000 hours would be right near 155000 miles
That’s what I was thinking as well. The math would put it an average of 38 mph.

I started working on trucks in 1982 and up by us in the mountains we were still running B model Macks. I remember those super liners coming around for repairs, but the RS700L is still and will always be the most awesome looking rig. The B81 comes in at second, for the most toughest looking rig.

I got lots of miles in B's and R's, but a Superliner is not just my favorite Mack, but my favorite tractor period.
I like the International behind it too, but the Mack Superliner is the icing on the cake. It is a jewel! 35:29 A marvel! Music for my ears 👏👏👏👏

But it was a west coast Mack
It had a 435 Detroit with a 13 speed it was 1980 model

The super liner is and was a great truck, if that truck has good bones it is well worth making a good lowboy rig out of it. I’d watch a good series on that!

My dad bought stuff like that in the 70’ & 80’ i mean Trucks, bulldozers, skidders and we would pull them out of the bushs and crank them . Pull them off sometimes with stuck clutchs till they turned loose . We would work them up , sand blast , paint, decal and put them back to work . Mostly Cats, Franklin, Tree Farmer, John Deere . We done all kind of graders . Dump Trucks of every make model , over the road trucks , log trucks . I’ve rebuilt every engine , transmission, rear end that has ever been made probably, at least work on them . I love these videos. Im eat up with Arthritis now , but im still working . Thank God

Great video! Brings back memories. My dad was a log truck driver here in south Georgia. He drove two of them old superliners. One was a Magnum with a 500 hp engine, the other one was a nice factory green that we called the green hornet. They were great pulling trucks!
No vicegrips today and batteries with matching terminals, cables and nuts. Easy start, great video.

You can't kill a MACK as long as it is taken care of. Definitely worth saving.
I drove a R-model mack 300hp with 5 spd single axel for overnite pulling 48ft box.delivering ltl. Nobody wanted to drive the Mack but I loved it. Get that huge turbo spinning and you could almost drive all day long and only use 4th and 5th gear. It would pull the heaviest boxes of tools out of Stanley works and you had to keep looking to see if the trailer was still attached. Effortless! Nothing like the growl of that Mack engine. The only thing as great sounding is a screaming Detroit. My most prized possession is a perfect condition Mack bulldog hood ornament. Keep it safely locked in my safe. Keep up the good work and I am sure that Superliner can't wait to be restored to it's former glory so some lucky guy can " keep it trucking". Love your videos and "admire" your tools. Minimalist to the core

It seems that the engine is still good because it exhausts not too much black smoke! Excellent job!
This is a dam good truck. Its in excellent condition as well. It just needs a good clean up inside and out. Put some wheels on it and take it home. Dont forget to cut every single tree around it so as to not damage anything. If you can negotiate a good price then go for it.

I’ve asked this before, but why would you let a good truck like this just go to waste?? I’ve grown such an interest in trucks and heavy machinery thanks to you guys!!
Seems like most of the time people say they are going to restore it at some point but never do or it belonged to a person they were emotionally attached to and just do want to let it go because it has sentimental value.

I have driven and worked on a lot of trucks in my life. My all time favorite was the mack with the e6 350hp and 9 or 10 speed mack transmission!

Hello Hank, watching you pull huge amounts of dirt from the engine, an idea came to my mind: how about bringing out a) a mobile power unit, and b) a vacuum cleaner for industrial use? Maybe that will make it a bit easier on you. And this would enable you to get this grit even out of some little nooks and crannies!

That air charger tube is probably full of stuff too. And you probably need to check the turbo and make sure it's not full of stuff also.

In the Czech Republic, we don't have many of these big old US trucks, kinda shame :D. In Europe, you can usually find cabovers. I love watching these restorations and revivals. Great content, keep up your great work!

Oh, well, the charming you lady just asked about how things are going on so far. To me, it is always amazing to find out that these "turning rust" videos are by 90% successful, because all the rust, grit, and grime these machines have collected make things look much worse than they are!
In fact, all it seems to take is a basic cleanup (as shown in this video), a basic checkup for oil, coolant, fuel - and some new oil / air filters / batteries - and vrooooom! it's running again🚚!

The Mack western series including the super liner were built originally in Hayward California. And then production of the western series eventually moved to Allentown after Hayward California plant shut down. With the super liner being a RW 600 & 700 series both , you could get anything from a Mack E6 & E9 engines (E6 is a 6 cly & E9 is a V8) to a Cummins, Cat, or Detroit.
And yeah they also built the super liner in Australia for the Australian market. I do believe they still have the super liner name with Mack down under .

What an absolute shame somebody would leave that truck to go to waste like that. I pulled logs and equipment with a 85 model. It was silver with black stripes and had a 350 Mack engine and a 9 speed in it. Had 44,000 rears and rode like a two horse wagon. I hope somebody will take that truck and do something with it.

Hi ! that was the most powerfull truck i ever drove back in early 90s ! 500 mack straight pipe ! hell ! The only thing i didn t like was there was no cruise-control ! just the trottle on the floor beside the seat ! i used that for cruising ! it was a bit risky because i had to reach and unlock it if i wanted to slow down or stop ! LoL actually you can see it in my logo ! if you click on it you ll see it bigger ! LoL !😋on that pic i was hauling steel coils ! always hauling 4 axles trailers and super B-trains 5 axles ! so that was the greatest truck to pull heavy ! and my first truck was a 350 Mack econodyne with a 15 speed trans ! good trans for speeding but no power ! Your right Hank. You need to get this truck! But, and here’s a thought, (probably run through your mind briefly), why not get it for yourselves. As you’ve done before, hired someone else with a truck and trailer to haul your stuff to buyers. Now with this, you could cut out the middle man and do it yourself. Not a bad idea in of itself.
That's absolutely true about the dead batteries. When you put batteries together in parallel they must normalize their voltage to be the same. Plugging a 10v battery into a 13-14v battery will suck all that juice to normalize between the two and you might end up with only 11 or 12v if you're lucky!

Used to herd one just like this, White, 4-axle dump with an E-9 V-8 and a 2-stick 12-speed. It was a BULL! Buddy bought it and the company bought it back again. Hope they make a tractor out of it. Light sprung and the engine there looks like one of the 'Fire Breathing 350's' as the Mack place in Georgia called them. Drove the old R-model with one. TOUGH was an understatement. Hauling boulders on an armor plated trailer for flood control projects. Long time ago and lots of light bills paid and trucks usually draw out of the shotgun side tank. And Hank, you and Wiley don't give up your day job for singing careers! God Bless!

@@HamiltonvilleFarm I drove a lot more Macks than anything else because you got to have something TOUGH to run every day up here in the hills. When the Bad Creek project fired up, there were materials being hauled out of SC to here and Ray Walker flat land trucks were doing the hauling. They ended up being scattered up and down the road because it's a good pull up to the job. We ended up doing all the hauling with the fleet of DOGS from a rail head at Clemson. A dog will just growl and not quit. The R-model I drove hauling boulders had the same motor the Superliner has. Did a fine job all the time I was herding it.

I know this is prolly a page for men, but I happen to like what you do too. I am a farmer's daughter and had 3 brothers who were all mechanical, so grew up with a little interest in this stuff. However, when Dad died my oldest brother took the farm and his front paddock became the local dump heap for dead cars, trucks, boats, cranes, bulldozers and a heap more stuff. It was so bad I took a couple of photos of it but alas can't post them here, if I could, I would. Had to take 2 shots and put them together because the dump wouldn't fit on one shot.
Luckily for my brother, he also had sheep on the farm and they grazed around the wrecks so at least they weren't stuffed in the bushes like this truck. Love your work guys, keep it up.
