I gotta admit, it is gorgeous all you need now is alot of elbowgrease and some old time TLC
Almost forgot! hell'alot of beer and laughs. you could do it slowly and maybe you'll find a donor
Poison ivy?! Since when Matt knows his plants as well as he knows his machinery?!
Uhhh ... Diesel Creek ... uhhh ... can we talk ... about this ... 'equipment' ... ?
What happened to your old high loader I believe it was a 977 as well that you built the ROPS for?
You are definitely Captain-Save-A-Back-Hoe.
It’s hilarious how your dog isn’t even remotely phased by a big dozer. And just casually trots along behind it
My dog ran the dozer
He was riding on sams D8 with me lol
@@DieselCreekfarm dogs. Eh Matt?😅😂😂😂😂
@@DieselCreek😂
He must be patially deaf or something...since that tractor is really loud
no matter how many recoveries i see it never gets old w/Matt!
Im sure i speak for a majority when i say we could use 2 hour long videos from matt. He has some of the best content and keeps me fully engaged the whole video. We need more! Love what you do! great rescue on this one! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I think he should continue to do the 30-40 minute, well edited videos on this channel but maybe make another channel for longer format videos with little/no editing.
30 to 40 minutes is PLENTY long.
Totally agree
Right
Matt, your excitement about your projects is awesome. You don’t let the rust and crust get to you. I’m glad I found your channel a few years back.
When Matt starts jogging away from potential danger!? Ladies and gentlemen it's time to out run him 🤣 Awesome recovery Matt!!!!
Just what I thought😁.
He needs a red shirt, like the one worn by the group that manned a fireworks tent this past Holiday. They said "If I Run, You Run!"
@@randyc4959 or..."if you see me running, better keep up" lmao
Many years ago, saw a photo of a guy in a T-shirt that read "I am a bomb disposal engineer. If you see me running, try to keep up." Notably, this was on the *back* of his shirt.
Watched and subscribed to Scrappy channel sir, between you too will make a lot of very interesting videos for this old fart sir. Been around construction for a longtime, learned how to run a dozer on a HD 3. Never have I seen a backhoe attached to one. Thanks again
Matt, I think would be great to see some follow up on some of your Richie Bros purchases such as the Cummins Van and such. Thanks for all your great content!
That’s quite the ambitious save. Sams 977 is a fn beast. Those chains you lifted the machine up to put it on the trailer with are impressive….
I would love to see you do something with this one since there can't be a ton of these machines left, but it will be a massive job, if it even runs. It is going to take a lot of time and work. You could definitely get a good video series out of it if you can get it to turn.
Matt, man you just do whatever you like because I love it all, you’re the best channel on TH-cam as far as I’m concerned because nothing is off limits with you and your enthusiasm is absolutely infectious, when Scrappy was towing it I was willing me lounge chair forward to help. Have a great weekend from AUS
I appreciate that!
@@DieselCreek We love watching because you so obviously love doing it. Keep up the good work!
I love these adventures and the turbo diesel sound.. - wish I would there ! ❤
Your enthusiasm is incredible Matt and your utter joy when things are better than you expected is infectious, and I’m laying in bed feeling really under the weather, but your video made me laugh, thank you 👍🏻🏴
Matt is an eternal optimist. If Matt fell off a 30 story building around the 14th floor he'd be saying "So far, so good!" and feel good about it.
Matt, you have such a phenomenal disposition! Your uplifting perspective, assurance, and hard working attitude is the reason you can achieve anything that you put your focus on. Keep it up!
I worked for a farmer who collected old machines. By the time he retired he had over 3000 tractors, dozers, etc. He also sold as many over the years.
We bought many machine seized like this one. His process was:
1. See if the engine will easily turn.
2. If not, pull injectors/plugs and fill cylinders with atf/diesel mix and let it sit for a month or longer. He'd also spray the mix over all linkages, the track, and grease all grease fittings.
3. Every week or so make sure cylinders were still full and spray the track with the mixture.
4. After 1 to 3 months, try turning the motor.
5. We almost always got the engines freed up.
6. He'd then spin the engine over, refilling the cylinders over and over to wash out the rust.
7. Finally he"d drain & clean the fuel tank, add fresh fuel and change the oil.
8. Try to get it started, topically by pull starting it using a fairly high gear and speed.
9. Rebuild carb/injection pump/mag as required to get it running right.
9. We almost always got the engines running this way (and some had sat for 90+years).
Some turned out to be oil burners but even if they were that want a big problem because most would only be used for exhibitions or sold to museums/collectors.
Those hd6 were really popular back in the day. My dad for the time were really top notch machines and some of the easiest to run.
Its amazing that starter kicked over. Cant wait to see this one run!
With the cover missing over the brushes!!
It only needs..... everything. A fine candidate for "How to take it ALL apart." Name it "Ivy"!
Another good rescue. And she definitely wants to be saved 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I absolutely love how you save this old equipment it’s so exciting
"Marty T" does a lot of abandoned recoveries and Resurrections.
Matt.what apple.of.crap we got a good laugh. Fun
OK, but ... "pretty rough" ... is his understatement.
Not only do you save old equipment you save history remember seeing one of those many years ago when I was a kid on a bridge project brought back great memories of a simpler time in life
Your knowledge and positive attitude is always contagious 😊
love whatcha doin. hearin these old engines scream back into life and hearin those old diesels scream is just wonderful
Would love to see Matt starting a Diesel Creek summer camp so us guys who love this sort of stuff could live out our dreams for a week or so…
Summer camp for adult men lol!
Funny thing is people would actually go to the camp lol
I have problems replacing the spark plugs on my car but would definitely go to Diesel Creek summer weekend camp!
I'd be well up for that and i'm in the UK!
Can't imagine the cost for insurance for such an event!! Sue happy world!! If you don't sue, your insurance will sue to recoup their loss!
That shake hands with danger part had me rolling over laughing
Matt I appreciate your efforts in saving her.
Matt, I read comments in amazement I’m a lot like you in respect of dealing with equipment on a daily basis. People please tell me something I don’t know
Matt , if that old beauty isn't the siren call to tell you to get that gantry crane in your dream shop installed , I don't know what is.....get her into the shop and get cracking mate , these videos of you getting stuff up and running is why we watch you , well done for saving another beauty
He already has bought one from Richie Bros. auction...man hope he installs that sometimes later, he really needs to have one
Technically its a bridge crane since it does not have a standing frame. I expect by now it and the trailer it was on has sunk into the ground to the point it has disappeared from sight.
@@suyogsawant1104 Well there is that difference between "get A gantry crane installed" and "get THAT gantry crane installed".
Matt, you have such a fantastic attitude! Your positive outlook, determination, and work ethic is why you can accomplish whatever you set your sights on. Keep it up!
I appreciate that!
Matt these videos are amazing. Since watching them I’ve become fond of these old machines so thanks for that!
Lovely kit and the back after as well. We had one and ran her for years. Mighty.
That is how you make your videos and what you are good at rescuing abandoned heavy equipment and bringing it back to its glory.
This is how you perform durability tests on chains, great job!!!😀
Even old workout chains are handy
I really enjoy your videos. They remind me of my teenage years back in the 70's working for my dad. He would go out and buy stuff like this and we would get them running and put them to work.
Amazed , absolutely amazed. At what broke free
This is GOOD Saturday…..got my coffee, breakfast in hand and Diesel Creek Matt recovery! I saw the poison ivy right away…..I hope you and your camera crew are not sensitive to that NASTY STUFF! I love your determination, helping hands and your connections
Same
You gotta admire Matt persistent when it comes too rescuing some old piece of machinery, keep up the good work Matt.
Nice freaking work guys Just lifting that Machine With the 2 machines Straight up and overloading the baby trailer onward to the farm 3 miles down the road Matt 22:00 @Diesel Creek
Matt you are a leading light to the desires of all of us males in 2023, as much as the algorithm wants to make out, we just want to help the world to be a better place ❤
I'm going to love these videos Matt, very difficult recovery , but already I see signs that the next videos will be really interesting.
About halfway into the loading process, I found myself starting to sing Matt's "Come with me, and you will see, a ton of OSHA violations" song. 😊 Hopefully you didn't pay more than half its weight in scrap is worth because I fear that may be where you're headed with this one.
$500
@@DieselCreek Well at least the video made the $500 back in revenue, even if not the two days spent messing with it already. And for the guy, getting $500 is a lot better than paying someone $500 to get rid of it. Not a bad deal, even if it ain't running no more.
I paid more for textbooks!
@@Fitbridges yah… and you could prob learn more from working on this old girl
I was amazed you pick it up the way you did… I watch lots of video. Where that goes wrong… amazing
I think it’s amazing how you are Abel to bring these machines back to life 👍👍👍👍👍😃😃😎
Finally another video so soon can't wait for your videos so excited, thank you Matt♥️
Similar situation to the D2 track loader I just drug home! Sitting for 50 plus years as well. Looks like the old Allis is a lot less worn out than the Cat I have. Great video as always and good luck with the project! 👍
I enjoy your vids Randy! Keep working guy, you're doing great!
Good luck on that loader today. Look like lots of work. Thank you Matt.
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!
I wouldnt mind if your videos were longer it very interesting enjoy watching keep saving old equipment cant wait to see more of reviving the case
A show of hands, how many at the beginning of the move said to yourself your gonna need a bigger chain! Keep em coming Matt 👍
I like your work to rescue the old good maschines.
Great stuff!! What a lovely wee machine that's going to make when done. The 977 is an absolute unit!
Matt, I hope you decide to dig into this one further. I realize it may lead to just being MORE sure that it's scrap. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to watch, particularly on the off chance of success. The retrieval and loading on this episode were instructive and a bit surprising -- I didn't expect even the two machines to be able to lift the crawler so readily. Your videos are always a great mix of surprise, entertainment, and education. Thanks for that!
My heart sank when I heard "HD". About 50 years ago we had a 10ish year old AC HD21 on site. AC said it was equal to a D8. every one said it was because it weighed like a D9 and pushed like a D7. In 3rd high range that old 21 would would go so fast the tracks didn't touch the top rollers. It was OK for pushing Cat 619's though, just not very fast.
man i get so exited when you upload something. 4 videos within 2 weeks thats a record!
Can we please get a round of applause for that old Cat 977? It dead-hauled that other machine straight out of it's grave!🎉
I think this one was planted! 😂
Matt I am 36:min in and I don't want to be a negative Nancy but I think this one will not even pay for Matt from Diesel Creek to fix. Prove me wrong my friend. Kudos for even trying! Even if it becomes a total fail you still gave us great content!
Love 11pm diesel creek videos. Hey from Australia.
Yes Saturday morning toons for adults thanks matt
Thanks Matt! It's great to see another video that goes back to your roots. No pun intended. I can't wait to see you try to get this old girl running.
Got to say, although i love every one of your video's, this is probably the most excited i've been about a resurrection of yours. This is the true spirit of bringing a machine back from the dead. Not only dragging it out from 50 years worth of undergrowth, but the fact it's so unqiue in how it's got a backhoe, combined with the absolutely awesome shot of the 2 old machines holding it in the air whilst it was loaded up, i honestly can't wait to see a series bringing this thing back to life. Keep up the amazing work Matt, cheers for the continued thorough entertainment
I would love to see another video on this machine later in the future hope she can be saved
Matt the machine saver. Great recovery. You've your work cut out with this one Matt but your positive, carefree attitude will be a huge help in you turning this Allis from a sows ear to a silk purse. Great work. Thanks.
I love how you make this old machines waking up again greeting from Sweden
If only you knew someone that has a shop with overhead crane to help with jobs like this. Looks like another diesel creek adventure. Few people are willing to keep saving old iron, keep up the great job
That extraction was a fine ballet of heavy equipment. Impressive work there gentlemen! 👍👍
Really enjoyed this video like so many others at Diesel Creek. It's fascinating, a real treat to watch you bring old machinery back to life. Thanks
Matt, a word of caution to you about the use of chains when removing a heavy vehicle under extreme load !! I heard of a case where the chain snapped and severed a man's leg below the knee when it whipped back like a whip !! PLEASE do NOT stand SO CLOSE to the chain when it is under load !! I would hate anything to happen to you !! Remember, it's SAFETY FIRST !!
Absolutely 👍
There was a fun episode about it in Mythbustets. Gotta see😊
Safety third! As always.
Whenever we would use a chain or a cable like you’re talking about pulling heavy loads on it a couple different spots on the chain or cable lay a carpet over top of it. If it does snap, it will greatly reduce its energy not to say it’s gonna be perfectly safe, but it helps is Jim mungai from Kennerdell Pennsylvania.
Chains are much safer then cables and ropes, still better stand back
Matt, don’t quit on it. Iv got a feeling she will run again. Just do what you do and give her the love she needs! I believe your her only hope!
I love watching you rescue old equipment like this and getting them running its why i watch your channel
I can’t tell if I’m more impressed with how easy it was for y’all to get that low boy under it, or how absolutely horrified that I was about to watch it drop 5 feet with a THUD.
Ok, first off a few things you should bring on a recovery out of woods/tree line;
1) Chainsaw
2) Loppers
3) Chain's 5 times the number you think you need
4) Ax
At least you rescued a piece from the scrap yard. Cheers from eastern TN
I am jealous, I love that and it is still in the trees. You are the right person for this job. Look forward to more videos on the crawler.
Now that’s what you call working with what you got. Cool way to load this beast.
My grandpa had one of these and he used it for discing between trees the peach orchard and pulling a sprayer through the orchard. It worked well long before 4wd tractors were common.
I hope you are able to resuscitate it.
You have so much heavy stuff needing repairs I will be glad when you can get something done with your overhead hoist. You need it now. Once you hurt your back my young friend you can hang em up. I`m 91 and speak fro experience. Really enjoy your work.
Just look at how well that Truck handled that Trailer with all that Weight on it! Awesome Video!
I've always wondered where my interest in stuff like this came from. I guess my parents started it with Tonka toys when I was just a young kid in the 1960s. Interestingly, I remember a track loader with a backhoe on it, very similar to that one, used in a sandbox behind my grandparent's house. Great video once again, Matt!
Great rescue, the sketchy loading of the crawler on to your trailer was most impressive. Definitely worth a 'thumbs up'. 👍👍
It’s great when you share projects that don’t always fire up first time around!
Is the WHOLE of Pennsylvania literally littered with ancient broken macines hiding in the woods? Sure seems like it! 😆
You’d be surprised what hides in the woods.
A lot of the state is old coal mines they left equipment behind to expensive to move so they left it
Keep an eye out around rural areas you will find old equipment sitting .
Love the recovery missions Matt! ❤
Can't wait to watch more of this machine, but if anyone can free up the engine,Matt has the knowledge and experience it takes. Go get em' Matt!
Great video! My grandfather had a teramatic 1000, I think by Case. Either way, the bucket loaders in this video remind me of the good times we had logging and building roads with that. I seriously hope that this is not a lost cause.
Hello yes a new Diesel Creek Video on a Saturday! Thumbs UP to Matt !!
Love the video nothing like waking up to old iron being rescued
Thanks for the link to Scrappy's TH-cam - Its AWESOME, man has that guy got some kit - A clever bloke, no wonder you two get on!
Gracias por el video Matt me gusta ver cómo recuperas estás máquinas saludos desde Argentina
Absolute superb content scrap or not.
love to see old warriors been saved.
Awesome episode Matt! I hope you can get it freed up and running!
Kudos for getting it on the trailer, & good luck moving forward! The way you guys had to load it reminded me of something in my past. Back in 2005, I was working in manufacturing & the owners had shelved a line. One of the items on it was a press, & they decided to scrap the die. To get it out of the building, we had to use 2 huge yard lifts. I was operating one & the maintenance guy was driving the other. Just navigating our way thru the building & having to turn left out the doors was difficult to start with, but we made it to the yard. The truck driver had to back his low boy under it, while we kept it lifted in the air & then timed it perfectly to lower it onto it. The way you guys did it was so similar, so I know it's not easy, & definitely something you don't do everyday!
Man, your buddy’s loader is incredible. Nice rig too..
Looks like a boat anchor to me! I look forward to what you decide to do with this machine.

Thanks 👍
I showed this video to my OSHA rep, and he started showing signs of distress.
You've made a fan out of me for life!
I was surprised at how [relatively] easily it came out! I'm one of your newbies and I LOVE it1
This one looks pretty tough! That recovery was brutal, scary to watch for sure!
Congratulations Matt on rescuing that sweet crawler. It's going to be a nice addition to the farm. Great video thank you for sharing 😀
It's junk, but fun to watch you try. Shes got a good attitude worth a shot.
That thing is actually in pretty good shape for sitting in the woods for 50+ years. Definitely not all banged up and beat on. If everything breaks free and it had a good thorough reconditioning, no doubt it will look terrific!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Epic recovery. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
That was a state-of-the-art mochine when parked 👍
Having lived in West Allis, Wisconsin since 1984, and done work at the Allis Chalmers complex, I always found it interesting that you had an A/C forklift and loader. I will be watching intently at the progress of this project. I sure hope you are able to get it running and continue to rehab it. If you ever get to the Milwaukee area, I would enjoy giving you a tour of the A/C facility, and showing you what can be done with 100+ year old buildings to turn them into useful office and industrial space. It is quite impressive what they have accomplished here to reinvigorate this facility.
Get it running, my friend!
