Glad someone else sees how odd it is that buffets serve your drinks for you. Like, who decided that getting their own plates of food was easy but drew the line at getting a cup.
It's because alcohol is more expensive than anything on the menu and allowing anyone to just serve themselves from the tap would result in a lot of drunk people staying next to the barrel and not consuming much of anything else.
Making the buffet more expensive for everyone while scaring away everyone else who wanted food and not get piss drunk at 10am

Pretty sure when people are saying "drinks" they mean fluid you can consume, possibly flavored and sweet, with maybe some bubbles that tickle your nose. Yeah, with little nose tickling bubbles.

But yet at fast food restaurants it's the opposite with the drinks lol
I don't know if they are still around (since the pandemic killed most of the buffet restaurants) but Old Country Buffet was the only place I had been where you also got your own drinks. And it worked like the plates, you left your old cup at the table and the staff collected them with the plates.

One of the things I find funny about these "first guy" sketches is how intense and determined the guy with the new idea is. Then this video got me extra good when he was temporarily thrown off by the waiter being worried about people making out with the kitchen staff lmao

To be fair, a well kept buffet is amazing. I've worked as a chefs assistant before and the finess he had with his buffets was magical.
My dad took me to golden coral when I was a kid and while we were eating we saw someone grab a slice of cake with the spatula, lick it, and put it back. That kinda ruined it for me lol

I love the fact he touched on the fact drinks somehow are not part of the buffet and still need a server to take orders and run drinks. Realistically you would think there would be a large table with drinks that got made in the morning waiting for people to take.

Based on the restaurant videos, this is how I see the timeline of events:
* Open a restaurant
* Open a buffet
* Order drive-through
* Order delivery
Basically it's an evolution of getting food as far away from the restaurant as possible.
If I'm not mistaken, in the drive through video one of the Ryans suggest that some guy could *deliver* the food to the parking lot
So delivery should be before drive-through
The waiter's hesistance when he says the bread didn't fall on the floor is so subtle but it's there and it's hilarious
Love how he makes the ads funny too. Normally it would just be people just talking about how great the product is and reading the script given to them but he always makes them entertaining

I’m half Irish half English, but I have family in Virginia and North Carolina, I LOVE Golden Corral, I’m not a big eater but I like being able to eat a bit of whatever I want, I went on my own one day when I was sad and a lovely black lady invited me to sit with her family when she saw I was metaphorically lost, also convinced me to try Macaroni cheese, it was lovely ❤,and it was my favourite memory of the whole trip, if you ever read this Ruthie, it was an amazing day that I will never forget

Hometown Buffet was the best thing ever when I was a kid. I loved piling my plate with a little bit of everything and then getting an unreasonably large cup of mixed ice creams and basically every topping. For a while kids even ate free, and then they changed it to kids eat at half price when too many families started eating there. Unfortunately the rent for places in the strip mall where it was located rose dramatically and they had to cut corners in order to keep making a profit but the lower quality food meant nobody ate there anymore and it eventually closed down. I think there's a bank there now.
Does the bank offer bread that definitely hasn't been on the floor?
I miss Hometown Buffet, I loved getting their Mac' & Cheese

I love how Ryan is able to make even ads hilarious and interesting. I feel like he must take notes from Aof Noppharnach(Thai director known for incorporating ads into his shows in a way that feels natural and entertaining and not like a commercial break just started in the middle of the show using the same characters)
I love how you alternate the videos between having the guy with the idea being the instigator or the one forcing it on other people. Like, with these business related ones, where the idea comes from the business owner or the customer demanding something obnoxious. Both approaches are really fun, and I bet in the reverse opposite bizarro upside down mirror dimension there's a set of sketches that are the exact inverse of what you went with that are just as funny. So, if you ever end up having writer's block some time, don't be afraid to build a sideways time machine and hop over there to steal a sketch where the sandwich with a pretty big pickle in it guy forces the concept of a buffet down the throats of their probably racist customers. I feel like that's not a big ask.

I worked at a buffet in Leonard Texas and this is 100% accurate. To make money on a buffet you have to reuse as much as possible. That goes for all the veggies all the old rolls are saved for a week or two to make bread pudding, old gravy is turned into alfredo sauce a very horrible horrible version of alfredo sauce.
The worst though was every Friday we had a seafood buffet that we had some old shrimp from the week before cocktail shrimp and the owner had me label it fish bait. We ran out of regular cocktail shrimp she made me go get it soak it in lemon juice before we put it out and it smelt rank.

I work as a waiter at a golf club and I can say from experience that good buffets can be amazing if it’s well kept.

Love the character arc of the guy who initially just wanted food and then was accused of being racist for no particular reason by a guy who wasn't part of his conversation but came to the realisation that maybe he is definitely racist but apparently only concerning what food is presented to him.

That guy is really straight forward.
Ryan's videos are the only ones where I fully stop what I'm doing and watch. I don't do anything else and multitask because there is so much humor loaded into every video and I don't want to miss a thing!
