I'm already in my final year in college and I wish this came out sooner because I definitely studied more than I partied. Or maybe I just love to watch my tv shows more than partying.
A pepper spray key chain is 10 bucks at Walmart. Get one :) Also, I love this quote, "when someone shows you who they are, believe them". Because in high school we make waaaaay too many excuses for rotten people to treat us badly.
I really enjoyed this! I'm 23 and I feel as though a lot of youtubers tailor their videos toward a younger crowd. Thanks for thinking of us 20 year olds!!
Your tip about taking advantage of tutoring is fantastic. I was scared of my professors first year, but in my second year, I grew a lot more comfortable with my professors and TA's. My marks went WAY up and I became friends with some of them. They can end up really helping you out when it comes to jobs and graduate degrees!
Spot on, Rachel! Going into my junior year of college for Nursing, and definitely needed these reminders about finding balance and not forgetting to enjoy myself. Studying can definitely take over my life sometimes, and its always nice to be reminded that there is more to life than school!
Great advice! Definitely dive into what you want to do career-wise as soon as possible. If you know what you want to be, start shadowing someone who is doing it, take internships, or even volunteer. Finding a job after graduation is hard, so the more experience you get while in college, the better! It's the perfect time to work for free too, because after college, you've most likely got to start paying bills. And some internships won't let you even apply if you're not in school.
Great advice! Love how honest you are. Except number one! I moved in with my boyfriend when I was 20 in my 4th year of university and we have been living together for the past 3 years! :)
More university advice please, I'm currently in my second year of college and I'd love to have more advice from someone who went through it all to make sure I get the most out of my college experience
I loved this video! I'm going into my senior year of university and I have lived by all these tips, they are so accurate! Very helpful for those who may be entering their first year
Hey Rachel, just wondering how you got your confidence up going from high school to university (considering you didn't really have a good high school experience)??? You look soo pretty by the way xoxoxo :)
this was amazingly accurate omg! I'm a sophomore in college and I've experienced most of these and it helped me so much plus I was laughing the whole time. You are a perfect human being
My number 21: Use the possibilities to go abroad! University provides the best opportunity to spend time abroad unexpensively aaaand it's the perfect timing :)
That is such a lovely compliment, thank you so much :) I actually already have a video called How To Be Self-Confident, if you;d like to check that out love!
Omg I love this video! I feel like I got so much info in stuff that's really directly relating to me at this very time! So much love I'm virtually sending to you right now! Thanks so much for being honest and keep with the advice! It's much appreciated!
LOVE this video, Rach! I'm 19 and I've been studying for a year now. I'm definitely guilty of focusing too much on school work...but I finally decided to take things a little bit easier and to join the English drama group of my college, since I love acting (and their plays are pretty awesome, too!). I'm really excited! Thanks for your advice :). xo
honestly some of the most realistic tips I've ever heard. I'm only 19 but I can already relate to some of this. haha great video rach keeping it real! xx
Awesome video! The transition from high school to college was tough for me too.. I thought i could get by in college on memorization too, but theres just wayyy too much material to be able to memorize it all! Studying jn groups definitely helped me
Some other advice Just cause some people seem to have it together doesn't mean you have too. Also go our own pace. If you like doing things slow go ahead and do it. An extra year in college won't change anything. And doing things that feel right don't just do it cause everyone else is doing or just cause your best friend is doing it. Do different things and try different things and talking to everyone don't be shy to talk :)
I can relate to all of these tips! Wish I had known the same things going into university but now they will definitely be kept in my mind as I finish :)
I'm 16 and I'll be going to college in a few days, and this helped a lot!!! I'll definitely bear all these in mind. Thanks for the awesome video! I hope you'll make more like it :)
Rachel I love this video! I'm going into my second year of college and I couldn't agree more with memorizing statement! I'm going into Nursing and I defiently realized you have to apply knowledge you learn (:
This was a really awesome video, thanks Rachael! Also, could you potentially do a how to budgeting/managing money video. I just think it's really important topic that's never really taught... :) Thanks again! : )
This was a great video Rach!! I feel like you really hit the important stuff. FOMO is totally real hahaha! I'm going into my second year of university this fall, and I feel like you and I made a lot of the same mistakes first year LOL! I definitely may have blown through some scholarship money on sephoras website.... Not making that mistake again 😂 learning how to budget (both money and time) is such a valuable skill that pays off if you learn it sooner rather than later!
I'm a sophomore in college this year (starting Monday) and this video was helpful, though I wish there were less tips about boys.. college isn't all about guys! I've been with the same guy for 2 1/2 years- since we were juniors in high school. He's not going to college, working full-time instead, but we plan on moving in together- along with one or two of my friends- in another year. I still loved this video and the tips though! Would love to see more.
oh and also do a study group if you can! I have a handful of "studybuddies" and we just look at our notes together before the exams. However, don't cling to just one group of people. You should learn to attend classes even though you don't know anyone. And then look for a studybuddy there :) THE NICE GUY TIP IS MY FAVE!! (okay, mainly because my boyfriend is a nice guy and he was friendzoned because he was "too nice")
21. Learn what resources exist at your university and/or in your community in case something happens. Even if you're fine, you will know people things happen to and it is always better to be the educated friend who knows what to do in that situation than to have to figure out what to do in the midst of panicking and potentially dealing with trauma.
this was great....i also filmed a video called preparing for university and college for the first time.....basically stuff i wish people had told me before i went......! hope it helps someone x
This was super sweet and helpful. But I have a question for anyone who sees this. For the 1st tip, why is it wrong to live with your boyfriend? Here's my situation... My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. I live in California and he lives in Texas. We've been together for almost two years (November 1st will be our anniversary) and we see each other every few months. He is 21 and starting community college on Monday, and I am 19 starting community college on Monday. After we finish our 2 years of CC, we want to move into an apartment together and go to our universities in the same city. Typically, I wouldn't move in with him but since we will have been together long distance for 4 years by then, why not?
Well.. I think she may had a bad experience.. like moving in too fast! Every relationship is different. If you feel that its ok to move in together well you should do it! You and your boyfriend will figure it out when that happens. May be her relationship wasnt that serious and it didnt work.. it is really a personal choice and a personal view of the situation! For you being that many time appart you and your bf will definetly be good because you been apart for so long.. but be careful with that.. I mean that maybe you or your bf will need some time of their own (NOT bad at all) hope it helps.. and this is MY perception of the situation.. you obviously can disagree with me ! Good luck :)
Gabi Cc. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and respond to my comment! You're absolutely right, each relationship is different, which means you can have a different approach to things. Thank you for your kind words!
darakristi I agree with Gabi Cc. in that every relationship is different. In my opinion though, I don't think it's necessary to move in with your boyfriend because during college and before marriage, you really are still trying to find who you are and kind of get to know your own personal beliefs, etc, so by living with someone who in reality you will probably depend on (not a bad thing at all), it can often hinder that self discovery. It's all personal opinion though!
It's not that it's 'wrong' - you just don't want to rush into it. In your case, even though you would've been together for 4 years already, it's 4 years long distance, which is totally different. When you don't see each other for months at a time, you get super excited to see each other and it keeps it fresh. When you're living together, you see each other everyday, and you learn way more about the person than you knew before (their house cleaning habits or lack thereof, their budgeting, whether they snore or not, etc). I moved in with my boyfriend after being together for a year when I was 19. We commuted about an hour each way to see each other almost everyday, and I was spending the night at his place whenever I could - it just made sense for us. We're still together after 6.5 years and it's going great! So, it really depends on your relationship. I think it would be helpful to discuss the details of living together before actually moving in (conflicting sleep schedules, who pays for what, splitting up the chores, etc). I would suggest having a back up plan if it doesn't work out, and don't split the cost of furniture, computers etc right away. After you're confident that living together is working, then you can start to split the cost - otherwise, it'll get really messy if you split up.
I'm already in my final year in college and I wish this came out sooner because I definitely studied more than I partied. Or maybe I just love to watch my tv shows more than partying.
I hear you, I'm not sure how I would have survived in school if I had Netflix ;)
Can you do a video on budgeting in college, if you'd want to?
Yes! That would be awesome!!!!
Yes please!
Just don't spend $ on stuff you can't afford or don't need lmao
futurevet2022 have you ever been in college? its not that easy
***** im actually going to be a senior in college in a week =)
A pepper spray key chain is 10 bucks at Walmart. Get one :) Also, I love this quote, "when someone shows you who they are, believe them". Because in high school we make waaaaay too many excuses for rotten people to treat us badly.

Wow I just discovered your channel and I am in love!!!
Me too
Another tip for college students...don't purchase textbooks until you know its relevant.
Spot on, Rachel! Going into my junior year of college for Nursing, and definitely needed these reminders about finding balance and not forgetting to enjoy myself. Studying can definitely take over my life sometimes, and its always nice to be reminded that there is more to life than school!
My school has a late night shuttle that picks you up if you're drunk or don't feel safe enough to walk alone.
That's such an awesome system, all schools should have one!
Mine too!
I'm moving into college this Friday so this video could not have come at a better time!! this was so helpful thanks Rachel! xx
So exciting!! Happy moving girl, I'm sure you'll get off to a great start!
As a young worker (I graduated 3 years ago), those are EXCELLENT advices : especially safety in bars and budget 👏👌❤️
Even though I'm out of college, I still enjoyed this video! Advice is good to hear, no matter how old you are. Thanks!
AMEN TO ALL OF THIS
All these tips are so relevant! Just finished my first year of university in England and this all applies over here too! Great tips x
Great advice! Definitely dive into what you want to do career-wise as soon as possible. If you know what you want to be, start shadowing someone who is doing it, take internships, or even volunteer. I like how the advice isn't JUST tailored towards teenagers\younger audience.
But yet everyone can benefit!(:
More university advice please, I'm currently in my second year of college and I'd love to have more advice from someone who went through it all to make sure I get the most out of my college experience
I love this video! We definitely want more videos like this. You have a lot of confidence, I bet you were at leader at your college/university.
#3 and #8 are two of the most important tips! #3 can save your college experience and #8 can save your life. Such a great idea for a vlog!
Loved this video! I'm going on my second year of university and everything you said was 110% accurate!

I'm about to start my second year of college and this was so helpful! You're like a big sister. Love you:)
My number 21: Use the possibilities to go abroad! University provides the best opportunity to spend time abroad unexpensively aaaand it's the perfect timing :)
Great vid! Can you do a video on how to boost your confidence? You just scream confidence and so many girls look up to you!
That is such a lovely compliment, thank you so much :) I actually already have a video called How To Be Self-Confident, if you;d like to check that out love!
RachhLoves Found it and just watched it!! Thanks for the great tips! :)
Always drink responsibly. Please don't be the person who left college with a drinking problem. I learned that the hard way.
Omg I love this video! I feel like I got so much info in stuff that's really directly relating to me at this very time! So much love I'm virtually sending to you right now! Thanks so much for being honest and keep with the advice! It's much appreciated!
I honestly love your videos so much and your positivity! You're so adorable and make me happy to watch!! 💛
What lipstick are you wearing? I love it!
You totally nailed this video! I went through so many of the same experiences as you!
LOVE this video, Rach! I'm 19 and I've been studying for a year now. I'm definitely guilty of focusing too much on school work...but I finally decided to take things a little bit easier and to join the English drama group of my college, since I love acting (and their plays are pretty awesome, too!). Thanks Rachel! Leaving for college tomorrow for the first time and I'm so pumped/nervous! This is just what I needed :)
Hope you're settling in nicely girly :)

Very helpful! I'm 21 and I'm definitely dealing with a lot of the things you discussed in this video!
I love these videos! Really helpful. Going into my 2nd year of university, so I will definitely use a lot of these tips to my advantage.
Going into my second year and I found this soooo helpful. Keep the advice videos coming! :)
Some other advice
Just cause some people seem to have it together doesn't mean you have too.
Also go our own pace. If you like doing things slow go ahead and do it. An extra year in college won't change anything.
And doing things that feel right don't just do it cause everyone else is doing or just cause your best friend is doing it.
Do different things and try different things and talking to everyone don't be shy to talk :)
Will you please do advice for high school seniors?

More college videos please!
Can you do a Q&A ????
Love this! The shot for shot hahaha... Been there before

Your so pretty! Thanks for the tips Rachel!
Yes, I love your advice videos!!!
Yes! I worked almost full time and went to school full time so I didn't take fun classes or get many college friends.
Your 1st tip was the most important! :)
Hi Rachel! Where did you get that painting!?!? Its sooooo cute!
Yep. This is spot on. Sending it to my little sister. :)
this was great....i also filmed a video called preparing for university and college for the first time.....basically stuff i wish people had told me before i went......! hope it helps someone x
LOVED THIS!
Very good advice! I made some of those mistakes ;)

Can you please do more vids about college?!?!
Awesome advice...
great advice! Completely agree!
What did you study in the university? you are my absolutely favorite youtuber

you guys could get sick of each other cuz that requires a lot of commitment and responsibility from both.
