Any shields work, I’ve used a pot lid and a bokoblin shield. Just need to deflect the blast at the right time.
@@sealsteal8736 true, plus no matter how weak the shield is it doesn't lose any durability if you deflect it in time

When you realize that the reason why all those guardians on the plateau are broken is because link destroyed them all and then you go to sleep and wake up and you can't even take on one without dying a thousand times 😮💨😂
Link apparently killed 20 at the defense of Fort Hateno before his injuries caught up to him.
Link once deflected the laser beam attack using pot lid, and got appointed as Zelda's personal guard

@yourlocalducktamer missing out on the adventure aspect of the game though. You get more for your money by not rushing to Hyrule Castle. But that's the beauty of the game too. You can go anywhere, anytime really

A good extra tip is to practice with the ancient shield due to its auto parry being able to save you when failing to get the perfect parry (you still get the ding and no durability taken off if you get the perfect parry)
You would still need to save and reload if you miss… using your ancient shield a lot with guardian beams without parrying correctly will cause to break very soon :/

This tells me why I’ve had a harder Time parying in master mode
I stopped playing in master mode because it got to a point where it was just frustrating

The heads up about the delay on master mode is a great point. Caught me off guard so many times and thought I was doing something wrong.
Yes blue light is a good tip for sure, i recommend playing with link no armor and going to major/minor/normal test of strength shrines saving beforehand and just practicing parrying that way you can keep your weapons by just reloading the save if you mess up or etc and gets good practice at the same time it definitely helps same goes for walking up on any normal enemy honestly.
If close I just listen for the sound cue and hit parry with a slight delay and if far I just see the beam and parry accordingly. Obviously it takes time to master and get the timing but it is so relieving when u get it down. I mastered it while doing the final trial of the master sword

just started playing this game and im damn glad all those hours parrying in dark souls works here as well
practicing against armed npc's (if u hit them a bunch they will hit you back, but wont damage you, and you can parry them) and basic monster attacks is also a pretty easy way to practice, once you can parry in general and get the hang of it it becomes much easier to parry guardians.

The first time a guardian delayed it's laser before shooting I just turned away and accepted my death
Making your own muscle memory is better as ot goes better when you consider distancing also just get durocks protection so while the fire blight beams you, you learn the hard way kinda like how i encountered thunderblight and didnt even know what a flurry rush was so i spent 2 hours fighting him to perfect your form.
This helped me. Sometimes I perfect parry but I still get hit
Don’t work when your not near the guardian.
For reflect the guardian always the technique is to have skill or watch the beam going to you

I’ve been playing Botw for years and have been using this forever. I just recently bought the DLC, and on the final level, the final trials on the last before last wave, I ran out of arrows and had to parry the beams back at then with shields.

Their is actually an audio cue, it’s a little beep at the very end, I’ve found more consistent results when listening for that than the flash
heres a trick i always use when they fire i wait until the laser is halfway from me and then i press the a button idk why but it always works

I hear that piano and I DASH for cover, but I parry decayed guardians all the time. It’s how I learned to parry.
another tip is there is a beep before they fire so i usually hear a beep wait one seconds in my head a parry, for master mode i wait two or three

In master mode, distance is great to deal with the fake outs, as you have more time to react to the fake and not attempt the parry.

I also recommend parrying when you hear the beep. That always works for me
What you do, is you stand the length of the body of a single guardian away from it. Stalkers even maintain this distance their own if you're too close to them.
I listen for the beam sound and then parry, better
I never learned to parry properly, but during the final battle, I masterd parry and used it to win
I’ve always tried parrying the moment the beep sounds ends. Then again this is usually me doing this from a good enough distance. Up close you gotta time it a little faster and too far away it’s just focusing on the beam.
Also you can just listen for the beep and parry when you hear it!

You can do it with any shield as long as your good at it

I have been struggling with these Guardians for far too long and then now I found out they can be killed now the game has changed I'm going back in there and taking the fight to them

I've been using a pot lid for this.
In normal mode, hit A right when the guardian beeps to parry the laser every time. If you are excessively far from the guardian, you will have to delay hitting A.
Also, the ancient shield will automatically parry the laser just by holding block.

The guridian is 10 seconds before firing, or 8 Mississippi seconds, I have experimented with this to know
Honestly for guardians you don’t need a good shield at all, in fact I use my worst shield every time, because the lasers destroy most (if not every) shields in one hit. So I like to just use your average pot lid

I just started this game while ago and while iwas facing this guardian my wooden shield broke. So how can I get a strong shield and defeat it?
You forgot to mention it also depends how close or far away you are from the guardian

You have more time to render it moving if your farther away.
Fun fact when your in ragdoll mode your invincible from attacks but the downside is they'll continue shooting u, you got 2 option leave area or stay xD

I'm not so sure, I play on MasterMode; and, regardless of how much practice I take the time to do, I still get hit quite often! They always seem to fake me out! Sometimes parrying twice seems to work but it's still hot or miss for me ;( Also, sometimes getting some distance, if possible, seems to help! On regular mode I have no problems at all -- just on MM!!
PSA: You may find that you cannot parry AT ALL, do not worry, you are not going crazy. This is a bug and it happens to a lot of players. I died 30 times in a row trying to beat one of the flying guardians at the citadel, which only started working correctly after reopening the game. The first one I had issues with was at the very top of the citadel, died a few times, reopened the game and it allowed me to correctly parry. Even still, it broke again soon after as parrying was not working on another one at the far end (where you find the soldier's spear leaning on some wall). The height was inconsistent and parrying simply would not register. That's the one I died 30 times in a row at, and once I reopened the game, bam, killed it the first chance. There is no fix for this, if you find you're dying too much, reopen the game and try again. In contrast, I killed land stalkers every single time in 1 go, so there's definitely some kind of issue with flying guardians and the angle at which they are targeting you that simply will not register a valid parry... this is the Wii U version anyway, for CEMU emulator. I can't verify if this issue was fixed in the Switch version.

The delayed lasers are just a big fuck you from Master Mode. Lol.
I'm starting to get used to it though. I used to panic and spam Parry. Lmao. Just to get hit because I freaked out. Good times.
Sometimes is impossible. Normally got it right but there are some specific guardians that this trick doesn't work at all

Instead of a good shield. Get Daruk's protection. If you miss your parry, Daruk will parry the shot for you.

How do u see the guardian's health instead of just the health bar?
The champions tunic that you get from Impa will tell you the health of any enemies.
