I like using the updrafts from the fireballs to float up and use bullet time to get the headshot/mount combo, granted there needs grass to be around but it's my go to method if it's available.
I throw down 4 bundles of wood and light them on fire so I can use that updraft to get up in the air and shoot him. When I land behind him, I throw more wood down and do it again. It's always nice when he sets the grass on fire for me. His fire blast will set grass on fire even when it's raining.
I’ve seen other guides on lynels and was convinced I was hopeless. I just spent the last 35 minutes straight partying against the lynel on Ploymus Mountain. I’ve only died once and am successfully parrying most of the time now! On to step 2! 😁
Tip for newbies: don't start with the crusher lynels, as they tend to have the most difficult attack patterns and are the least forgiving of mistakes. The best one to learn first is probably the sword lynel. As a bonus, they are the only ones to drop a shield.
I don’t know about that but thank you, that means a lot… I just try to show people the way that I would want or need to learn… sometimes it helps just to take a step back and break things down a little bit… But thank you!💞

For Lynels, I generally hit them with Statis, shoot them in the face, then wait. They'll drop but get up and shake their head, giving you time to aim. Also, your aim point is where their beard meets their face; higher and it's a head shot but will not stun them.

Thank you. I have beaten regular Lynels and a savage one once. Didn’t think to parry the attack. Once I learned that jump on their back it was game over.
Amazing video as always. I stopped using these techniques I haven’t played mastermode but they’re the “hardest” enemies and I enjoy fighting over everything so I kill Lynels every blood moon. I usually just parry all attacks for more challenge it’s also fun asf. Another benefit to this is if you practice this you’ll be able to dodge and parry all the other enemies
Learning to stun and mount the lynels (from your video) made fighting them so much more fun, and also helped me make the most out of damaged weapons. Nothing is more satisfying than finishing them off with a weapon that only has one hit left and getting rewarded with a fresh weapon 😂
Man you are good. I’m actually speechless. On my second play through and had no idea the mounted attacks don’t DMG your weapons. I seriously stopped looking at any other CC’s once I found your channel. You gained a new sub 😊
This is one of the better tip vids I've ever seen for beginners! Very clear & easy to understand. I could definitely see myself recommending beginners to watch this.
I like standing in tall grass when the Lynel is shooting its fire balls. It creates an up-draft that I use to shoot its head with my bow and arrow. I also take a few swipes at the Lynel before I mount it. If I'm using a wooden shield or sword because of lighting I run sideways and run up to it and shoot it's face. I, myself, I like to use the Zoni armor. But if I don't have it then I use attack-up food. I have done both, and, wow! I know players have beaten Golden Lynel's in seconds, but I've beaten a Golden Lynel around thirty seconds. What helped that was that I had a five arrow Savage Lynel bow and a Savage Lynel Crusher. The POWER! Great video!.
I just want to thank you for ALL your videos . . . . the amount of help I have got from your stuff is incredible. I'm a better player because of you and your techniques . . . keep up the great work. You are great at explaining things and your videos are high quality and well organized.
Wow,this video was the most informational one i have encountered! I always ued flurry rushes and end up breaking like 3 weapons per lynel, and this video changed my playstyle forever.
Thank you guys, I am so glad I could help, Lynels have the best weapons and tons of arrows, I hate to see anyone missing out on that because it helps so much throughout the game!

I'm a little late to the party, so am quite new to BOTW, I've not spent much time with the game and hate how weak I feel! I've just found your videos and can't believe how much help they are! Mounted attacks. Check! Now I have two main strategies. First is using Stasis and then this mounting attacks. I will practice this for the next few days.
Wow - super helpful as always. My Lynel fighting skills are improving and this video is inspiring to continue. For instance, I've finally been able to mount them, but I never thought to use the opportunity to bring out the bow when he throws you off. And I will indeed take some time to practice the dodge and parry - thanks so much!
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for all your useful tips. I've always avoided Lynels because they were too tough for me to defeat but using your tutorial helped me defeat my first one. Thank you thank you thank you!
I am loving these videos! I am learning things I never knew (and I've played since it came out)! I will say that one thing I would recommend is coming endura foods one at a time and just eating one when you need it because it will fill your stamina completely each time!
Also, I suck at shield parrying them for some reason, so I tend to take a multi arrow bow and just z target and shoot them in the face while they're running toward me. Works 98% of the time (I'll get hit every now and again, especially if it's a tight area, but works well otherwise). The multi arrow bow really increases the chance of hitting the critical zone.
I love your Zelda content!! First time I managed to mount a silver Lynel after watching your video.. parry shoot in the face and mount, worked like a charm. And my daughters LOVE your Da ta da dam shrine videos ❤
I simply love your videos and tips. You put it in a way that’s so easy to understand. Thanks to you, every blood moon I put on my ancient set + ancient bow and sword, eat a 30 min attack buff and go hunting them one by one. Thanks!
The best tutorial! I have been avoiding these guys, and finally decided I had to do it. I watched your tutorial, did the steps you recommend, and I beat one the first try. You are so awesome!
Hi Sherri, I killed a silver Lynel using parrying, headshot, mount, headshot in bullet time like you said in this video. It worked and I actually had fun doing it. I never thought of parrying a lynel before this and now, I think this is what I will always do. Great video and thank you so much!!
This is great advice. I finally got to kill my first Lynel (the one over Zora’s Domain). Practice dodging and parrying before I went full in. First time I did using flurry rushes, but I though I could do better. So I did it again, but parrying. Did slip up a bit & lose some health, but completed it without breaking any weapons
The main thing I've learned watching your strategy is that while I'm riding him and hitting him I need to turn the camera round so that it's behind me. That way when I'm thrown off the angle is set up for arrow time. Previously I was turning the camera in mid-air, which failed spectacularly.
This is literlly the most helpful guid on this killing lynels ive ever seen i watched like 2 other videos and i kept breaking my wepons and thanks to this guide i dont have to anymore
I'm very much enjoying your vids. I got to a point in the game where I was ready to fight Ganon, but kept putting it off. When I turned on the game a couple days ago, I saw that it was 2022 since I had played. Lynels were another thing I avoided the whole time-- besides the one I had to kill for the story. I feel ready now to start fighting more Lynels😀 I need to get with it.😆
Nice one! I used Revali's gale alot, then with the height, bow aimed and shot at its horn/head to stun. For attacks, I used spin attacks with large weapons like Royal Claymore. With high-level attack boost from food, it didn't take long before the lynel fell, prob 2-3 times of attack 😊
I just used your strategy to defeat a Lynel! Thanks for this guide! I will say though, by far the most difficult part for me was shooting the Lynel in the face with the arrow. I probably only got the stun about 20% of the attempts I tried. Many times I hit him in the head and he didn't care a bit, the only time it stunned him was if I got an exact hit on his face, which was a bit difficult because his head is bobbing a bit after the parry. I actually found the parries to be very easy. The strategy does work though. Thanks again!
I failed to mention this, but it does help to tilt the controller up when you are trying to hit him in the face after a parry if you still have your motion controls on, but I am glad it helped and thank you so much for watching!
Thank you… I plan on making more until tears of the kingdom comes out and then I will be making videos on that as well… thank you so much for watching!
For the newbies who didn't play BOTW this video really isn't out of date. However Lynels have a new attack where they will headbutt the player with their horns if you don't have your shield up they will hit you with their headbutt attack and if you have your shield up and they do their headbutt attack that will decrease it's durability your best bet when fighting Lynels especially ones of a higher level is to use a multi shot bow this has a higher chance of doing a headshot so it's easier to stun them once you get onto the Lynels back use your most powerful weapon as attacking a Lynel while your on it's back will not affect your weapons durability so be sure to have a good strong weapon that will do a lot of damage and when you're practicing your Flurry Rushes and Shield Parrys count in your head and then press the A button Lynels aren't hard to beat once you have strong enough weapons, know their attack patterns, when to parry, and when to get a headshot it takes a lot of practice there's times where I've died but it doesn't happen often anymore and you won't either after awhile I've been able to defeat all of the Lynels in the Floating Coliseum in one sitting on multiple occasions
I've got it down to a science thanks to your videos. I switch over to the barbarian armor and then I glide down on top of them from a high point. I have a crushed that does 106 damage so I start off with that weapon. Once he bucks me off I get a few head shots in. I wait for him to come after me and use the perfect gaurd to knock him back. Head shot with a savage bow and repeat.
I find switching weapons quickly really difficult (ie from Bow to Shield and back). So if I take the headshot with the bow and don't trigger the Lynel to bow, I'm pretty much going to get hit by the Lynels incoming attack as I can't switch quick enough back to shield. It wasn't pretty (still went thru 2 bows and 4 shield and a good 6 fairies!) but I did just manage to kill a white maned Lynel so thanks for the tips, I love your delivery - calm and clear.
Thanks for this tutorial! I've always been a little scared of lynels and rarely want to defeat them. This is a great video and I'll make sure to keep these tips in mind if I decide to kill some lynels!
Thank you thank you thank you for the tips and for breaking everything down so well! I just watched another video about fighting Lynels that made it look way too hard, and I was ready to keep avoiding them lol. But now I feel like it's doable. 😊
I use bullet time to start it Off and Headshot lynels Like 3 Times , and the i mount them, as soon as i jump Off i bullet time again and continue , after that i either stun them again with urobosas wraith or a bow shot , or Parry the next Attack and continue. And then i use revalis updraft and do everything over again . That makes it pretty easy .( But i first defeated them in maxed Out barbarian Armor , so i dont have much experience without middle to strong Armor )and since i defeated more of them i often either use lynels weapons or ancient weapons with ancient Leveld Up Armor.
It might help to say "jump button." I swapped the X and B buttons because X for jump made no sense to me, especially being used to B for jump in so many other games. Now X is for running, but also to cancel (like cancel climbing, etc), which makes sense.
Soo I am late to the party in playing this game. I'm about halfway thru the main storyline and encountered four lynels, thus far could not get a single one down, never could get even the damn "easy" red one, on Ploymus (had to sneak for shock arrows in the water area for that quest), I've buckled down to try to do it evey time i encountered one, like really sit there and try for an hour and have failed. I'm two divine beasts down, up in Eldin ridges and bam, see a silver one. Figure tonight is the night! I only got 13 hearts, miphas grace, and daruks protection. I even have watched your video before and several others. I rewatched yours and was determined!!!! Well ladies n gents, i did it!! I can't believe it. And a silver one for my first, taboot!! Thank you so so very much you are an angel lol. I still can't perfectly parry nor dodge, but the ones i can get in were great. So i know i will only improve from here. ***The biggest help was the patterns of when we stun them, i used stasis a lot. Anyways to anyone reading this, you can do it. I am not a historically good combat gamer, mostly always played things like Tony Hawk on PS1, or Mario Bros etc when I was little. I love Stardew valley etc etc. So i get very easily frustrated with BOTW....welp, cannot even explain how worth it is to y'all with when you beat one, how incredible of a feeling it is. ❤😊
Thank you so much for this video. This actually helped out so much. I can't wait to practice. I was so scared of fighting Lynels now you made it so easy. I am definitely going to put this into practice. Honestly this will make me a better at parrying enemies over all especially the ancient guardians.
See if this helps with other enemies and the guardians😉 I Wish I Knew Earlier How to Parry/Flurry Rush in Zelda Breath of The Wild th-cam.com/video/55Xi0nb0yHI/w-d-xo.html
Please hold my hand forever!!! This was very helpful I honestly just left the Lynels alone and just admire them from afar cause every time I tried fighting I’d just get shredded.
Great video as always! Nothing to add to this video, but you should create one about how useful Stasis can be in finding items. I've been using the crap out of it lately since I found it how great it is.
Just found your channel, and I love this! I already hunt lynels and was aware of the parrying and mounting, but I didn't realize that mounting saved durability as well. I'm an avid pot lid parrier too lol. I will be trying this next time I play for sure! New subscriber 😆✨️
Great tutorial! Btw, 5 Mighty Bananas and 5 Iron Shrooms are a waste. To get a level 3 buff in either toughness or strength you need 7 buff points. Each of those ingredients has 2, so that wastes 3 buff points. Using 3 Mighty Bananas and 1 Mighty thistle (1 buff point), or three Iron Shrooms and a Armoranth (also 1 buff point) gives you the 7 points and then either 1 salt, 1 milk, 1 egg, or an acorn makes better use of ingredients and gives you a longer buff.
I'd probably be terrible at parrying Lynels. I try to look for other prone moments to get the headshot (which is made much easier with a multi-shot bow than a single-arrow bow.) Those windows would be: - before/after the fire breathing (usually try to do that after the fire since there's less risk of being injured if you miss.) - After a standing still strike And sometimes if he just did a running passby swing attack, I try to get a quick snipe as he's turning back around. I feel that's usually enough windows to still somewhat quickly defeat one. The reason I'm kinda of anti-parrying is that I'm pretty sure it's a much smaller window to parry as opposed to just dodging. And if you get the parry timed wrong, you can get hit hard. Where if you miss-time the dodge, you still have a high chance of dodging, you just won't get the parry-rush. Not to mention the window to get a parry-rush is MUCH larger than parrying an attack. Particularly when the lynel charges without weapons, it's kind of amazing how early you can jump to the side and still activate it, haha
So, the Silver Lynel's 'roar-and-AoE' attack comes at at least two predetermined points: 1) when you first walk up to a Lynel, and 2) the first opportunity after he passes 50% health lost. Another point that may go into a future "What I wish I knew earlier" is that in a Flurry Rush, even if you've already reduced your target's HP to 0, you can still mash the button... and continue to spend durability points on a dead enemy. People that complain about brittle weapons might find ways to make them last longer if they quit doing that.
My approach to Lynels is like a JJ Abrams sci-fi movie - fire everything!!!! I have no technique whatsoever and I go through sooooo much food and ammo. I'll definitely be giving your video a try!
@@WTF-Gaming it did! I still can't dodge properly, but at least I didn't burn through all my weaponry. The other things that help me are: - make sure I have all three fury and protection available. - stay out of its RADAR until I can land on it, that way I can get a few jabs in to start the fight.
ive been so frustrated that im bad at dodging and parrying in this game for so long and this has been so helpful. just starting with parrying with my shield was a great tip thank you thank you!! edit: I was able to defeat a silver lynel almost hitless (mistimed two fire ball parries right at the end). legitimately this is the only lynel tutorial that has helped me. ty so much.
You can parry when white lynel is roaring. Just wait until it gets close to slamming its weapon down on the ground, parry. No damage taken. Then you can aim for the head shot and mount it with attack follow by arrow shots to the back of the head. 😀
I've been playing this game for two months now and the Lynel in Zora's domain killed me so many times I gave up on them. I have all divine beasts but not one Lynel, I'm going to try this now :)
Hello, Sherri, I NEVER subscribe to gaming channels no matter how helpful or entertaining the content is. However, your beautiful southern voice combined with with your instructional delivery and attractive personality is just too pleasant not to hit that subscribe button! Therefore, you have earned a new sub. I played Zelda in the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's, but shifted my gaming over to PC and PlayStation. I just bought a Nintendo Switch. Breath of the Wild is the first game I downloaded. You have many helpful videos that I will be perusing over for advice. Thanks for the great content!
Thank you for all your videos, they really help out a lot when im stuck. Anyway, I killed my first Lynel today using your guide here. I did break all my shields on mistimed parry’s, but my god I did it with 5 hearts! 😂
I like using the updrafts from the fireballs to float up and use bullet time to get the headshot/mount combo, granted there needs grass to be around but it's my go to method if it's available.

I simply love your videos and tips. You put it in a way that’s so easy to understand. Thanks to you, every blood moon I put on my ancient set + ancient bow and sword, eat a 30 min attack buff and go hunting them one by one. Thanks!
You are very welcome. I am so glad that I can help… And thank you so much for watching!💞
You are very welcome. I am so glad to help and thank you for watching!
Ran into my first one via main campaign last night and this video helped a ton. Took one down only having 8 base hearts with 6 added on.
Congrats, I’m glad it helped and thank you for watching!
@WTF-Gaming you've helped us so much already and I have a feeling it's only just begun lol.
Nice💪😎 and you are very welcome, I’m glad it helped and thank you so much for watching!
She is a beast with the parry. I suck with the timing on the small mobs. Need more practice. Thanks for the awesome tips!
You are very welcome. Stick with it you will get it 💪Thank you for watching!
The main thing I've learned watching your strategy is that while I'm riding him and hitting him I need to turn the camera round so that it's behind me. That way when I'm thrown off the angle is set up for arrow time. Previously I was turning the camera in mid-air, which failed spectacularly.
Yes you do, and I apologize for failing to mention that🤦♀️
I wondered why I couldn’t make it work when he throws me off!! Thanks for that tip!
This is literlly the most helpful guid on this killing lynels ive ever seen i watched like 2 other videos and i kept breaking my wepons and thanks to this guide i dont have to anymore
I am so glad it helps. And thank you for watching!
I feel ready now to start fighting more Lynels😀 I need to get with it.😆
Excellent guide! I can't wait to give the method a go, what I was doing early was melting through my weapons far too fast.
Thank you, I hope it helps, you got this💪😎
Nice one! I used Revali's gale alot, then with the height, bow aimed and shot at its horn/head to stun. For attacks, I used spin attacks with large weapons like Royal Claymore. With high-level attack boost from food, it didn't take long before the lynel fell, prob 2-3 times of attack 😊
Tip: it’s a lot easier to run to the side and mount them if they charge at you rather than parrying.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I defeated my first lynel because I practiced parrying with it so much!
Yay💞I am so glad that it helped And thank you so much for watching!
I'm new to botw, just found this channel. this is all i need for my guide. pretty straight forward. hope this will continue until tears of kingdom
Thank you… I plan on making more until tears of the kingdom comes out and then I will be making videos on that as well… thank you so much for watching!
Thanks!
Thank you!💞
For the newbies who didn't play BOTW this video really isn't out of date.
I need to play on a new profile to practice how to play. I'm really appreciate these refresher videos.
You are very welcome and thank you for watching!
TY for this channel, I am loving the great detailed tips.
You are very welcome and thank you so much for watching!
Nice… I am so glad I could help…nice crusher 😉
I find switching weapons quickly really difficult (ie from Bow to Shield and back). So if I take the headshot with the bow and don't trigger the Lynel to bow, I'm pretty much going to get hit by the Lynels incoming attack as I can't switch quick enough back to shield.
It wasn't pretty (still went thru 2 bows and 4 shield and a good 6 fairies!) but I did just manage to kill a white maned Lynel so thanks for the tips, I love your delivery - calm and clear.
Keep at it, it gets easier 💪and thank you!💞
FROM 3,000 TO 19,000 SUBSCRIBERS IN THREE MONTHS ??? You deserve it !
Thank you! 💞
I love your tutorials. My husband and I giggle at your professional voice teaching about BOTW. We love it! 😂 I can’t wait for TOTK!!!
🤣🤣thank you!
Amazing explanation! Very happy to have found your channel.
Thank you, and thank you for watching!
Thanks for this tutorial! I've always been a little scared of lynels and rarely want to defeat them. This is a great video and I'll make sure to keep these tips in mind if I decide to kill some lynels!
Just do it, you got this 💪
Thank you thank you thank you for the tips and for breaking everything down so well!
All good tips, thank you!
Thanks for the tips. I wasn't aware of the dragon horns.
I am so glad it helped and thank you so much for watching!
See if this helps with other enemies and the guardians😉
I Wish I Knew Earlier How to Parry/Flurry Rush in Zelda Breath of The Wild

I haven't even finished the video yet and I am in love with your style. I love hearing people who sound like me doing content. 😆
You an outstanding educator, love your accent to boot, great channel.
Thank you, and thank you for watching!
Please hold my hand forever!!! This was very helpful I honestly just left the Lynels alone and just admire them from afar cause every time I tried fighting I’d just get shredded.
Just save and practice, you got this! 💪😎
Thank you for this! I've recently returned to the game on master mode and I was never any good at lynels, so I think some parry practice is in order!!
You got this!💪
I did it Sherry! I killed 3 Lynels! Thank you for your help. I’m still scared to death when I see one.
🤣🤣 that is awesome! You got this💪💞
Great video as always! Nothing to add to this video, but you should create one about how useful Stasis can be in finding items. I've been using the crap out of it lately since I found it how great it is.
Yes and magnesis helps too 😉
Just found your channel, and I love this! I already hunt lynels and was aware of the parrying and mounting, but I didn't realize that mounting saved durability as well. I'm an avid pot lid parrier too lol. I will be trying this next time I play for sure! New subscriber 😆✨️
Thank you!💞
Great tutorial!
I try to look for other prone moments to get the headshot (which is made much easier with a multi-shot bow than a single-arrow bow.)
Those windows would be:
- before/after the fire breathing (usually try to do that after the fire since there's less risk of being injured if you miss.)
- After a standing still strike
And sometimes if he just did a running passby swing attack, I try to get a quick snipe as he's turning back around.
😉yes but just practice it, you may be surprised!
Restarted and doing the shock dupe save glitch, so thanks!
You are welcome and thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the strategy and I needed that. They have been bullying me all game
You are very welcome, Thank you for watching!
So, the Silver Lynel's 'roar-and-AoE' attack comes at at least two predetermined points:
1) when you first walk up to a Lynel, and
2) the first opportunity after he passes 50% health lost.
I hope it helps… thank you for watching!
@@WTF-Gaming it did! I still can't dodge properly, but at least I didn't burn through all my weaponry.
The other things that help me are:
- make sure I have all three fury and protection available.
- stay out of its RADAR until I can land on it, that way I can get a few jabs in to start the fight.
@@craigmcfly Just keep at it over and over again and you will Learn his movements… You will get it!😉 then you will be hunting for sport!
Very helpful! Helped me defeat my first Lynel!
I am glad it helped and thank you for watching!
ive been so frustrated that im bad at dodging and parrying in this game for so long and this has been so helpful. just starting with parrying with my shield was a great tip thank you thank you!!
edit: I was able to defeat a silver lynel almost hitless (mistimed two fire ball parries right at the end). legitimately this is the only lynel tutorial that has helped me. ty so much.
You are welcome, Glad I could help and thank you for watching!
Keep at it, you will get it 💪
Great video! I'll try it tomorrow for sure!
Thank you… Just practice you got this!💪
This is what I was looking for, honestly thank you so much
you are very welcome and thank you for watching!💞
@@WTF-Gaming :D
Thanks. Your videos are the best by far
Thank you💞 and thank you for watching!
Don’t forget you can also freeze them if you have the device upgraded for an easy headshot to make him flinch.
Hello, Sherri,
I NEVER subscribe to gaming channels no matter how helpful or entertaining the content is.
Nice💪😎… You are welcome and thank you for watching!
I love how you teach. I wish you'd do a walk through of the game. 🤗🤗🤗
Sherri your videos are amazing thank you❤
Thank you so much and thank you for watching!
Thank You! The first one on Polymus Mountain kept killing me! I watched your video and it didn't hit me once!!!

5:10 plus, if you parry perfectly and the blue "orb" appears, as shown, than the durability of your shield doesn't goes down.
Is their a non perfect parry? I had no idea
I think that would be if you miss 😉😜
@@daviddaily3969 Juup like only holding the shield forward and or it that blue sphere don`t show up.
See if you can bring one down using a mop. That would be awesome. Kilton sells them cheap, and you can occasionally get one off a bokoblin.
I am positive that you can, but I am sure that it would take a while😉😎
Thank you sooo soo much these are great tips !!
