I used their glasses everyday playing my deck and Switch, it totally replaced all my monitors and TVs, they are the future!
That's awesome! It's definitely a clutter-free solution haha
perfect time to grab a snack and chillout with my Uncle !
As far as lying in bed, you can also point a projector at the ceiling. It works surprisingly well with little pocket projectors if you have a white ceiling without too much texture.
That's a good idea!
that is what I do,.
I got this inexpensive projector from Aliexpress and I have it pointing to my bedroom ceiling.
If you connect it to external speakers, it works pretty well.
Great review. Love how you discussed your angle as a user and why explaining that angle is important.
Massively appreciated the aside about different groups (gender, race, etc.) and how certain products have to meaningfully address those differences for an accessible product! It's something important to talk about.
Thank you! I'm glad my ramblings of a cold-ridden woman was to your liking
The fit and comfort thing reminded me a lot of why I love the little mini handhelds that have been coming out. People are reviewing them as one handed devices but as a girl with small hands they just feel like... what gameboys are supposed to feel like for me lmao
Yesss. I wish more reviewers were objective about fit. I try to phrase it more like "if you have large hands / if you have small hands" Also when folks say the Gameboy line is too small it's extra funny to me since they were literally made for children 💀
Surprisingly, the neckband is by far the BEST streaming device I've ever tried, MUCH better than my psportal and g cloud...
The specs are really impressive!
THANK YOU! I bought an 8bitdo Ultimate controller after many TH-cam recommendations, and thought it felt very cheap and tacky, especially the triggers like you highlighted. I thought I was just being too particular, so it's nice to hear someone else say the same! Nice review, keep it up Marisa :)
IDK what it is that's making people obsessed. Maybe mine wasn't packed in with a love letter :(
That's a great review 😍. Thanks for sharing with us, dear Uncle and thanks for adopt me as your nephew. 💛
"You see these cool shoes with jetpacks and little flames on the side but they're too big or small. What are you going to do??"
DUCT TAPE. IM GOING TO DUCT TAPE THOSE BAD BOYS TO MY FEET AND JET OFF INTO THE SUNSET
Great review.
Previous AR glasses have had blurry edges. Has this been an issue with these glasses?
Not noticable to me! It was clear all around.
As someone who is cursed to wear glasses I always liked the idea of "spacial displays" growing up but it just seems so impractical. And that's coming from someone who has a folding phone
folding phone gang >:)
This is the very first video of yours i saw Marisa, cause i was looking up this specific XR glasses.
just wanted to drop a comment cause i reaaally loved ur humor and deep and very honest review here. Your "uncle" name confused me quite a bit but then i saw your other vid explaining the uncle stuff and it makes sense! the "cool" part is very true tho! haha cheers 🥂
Thanks so much, I'm so glad you're here!
Great review! I know it's a bit personal, but would you mind mentioning your prescription? It would give an idea to what range of prescriptions are covered by the glasses. If not that's totally okay too
Absolutely - I'm -6.5 on contacts :)
Do you ever use your crt, I have a small one but I have trouble trying to find a use for it
All the time! I use it with older consoles.
First honest review. I have a pair coming Friday and I’m concerned mostly about the comfort. The first gen ones were hard on the ears. Bummed to hear that this is still a problem. Glad they have a good refund policy ☹️
Ahh, fingers crossed! I bet you don't have a tiny head so you'll probably have better luck :')
@@yourcoolunclemarisa lol no big head so both sides get dinged with this problem 😄. If it works well otherwise I’m looking at some little modifications comfort wise to try to help. I did the same thing with my quest three and it worked out great.
I swear I had that same model of CRT behind you in my childhood... Or at least a very similar one... I had my PS1 connected to it back then~
I believe it! Sony trinitrons are good sets - glad to strike some nostalgia ;)
Appreciate the review, picked out some good details other videos missed. They don't seem to list actual dimensions anywhere, I'd be interested to know how wide they are (or how wide your head is? lol). I thought they looked too narrow on most reviewers, but like you said, a lot of one type of person, and I've got a pretty small head too.
From inner joint to joint on the arms, it's 13cm. From edge to edge of the glasses, it's about 14.5cm. And between the ends of the arms is 12cm. I hope that helps!
@@yourcoolunclemarisa That helps plenty, thanks again!
Nice to hang out with the fam ✌️
I never thought about using contacts
Would anyone recommend these over the xreal air 2 pro. I just got a pair with the custom prescription lenses so I’m trying to justify if these are the better way to go. Any help is really appreciated!
I bought and returned air 2 pro, it's blurry at the edges.
I understand these are too large for your head, but is the comfort better vs the original Vitures? Wondering if they 'got bigger' for heads.
Unfortunately I don't have the originals to test against :(
I loved your points about companies needing to do better for wearable tech. One size fits all just doesn't work.
I have really shitty vision (Congenital cataract, nystagmus and glaucoma. I'm not legally blind, but my vision is bad enough to prevent me from being able to drive) and no company provide lenses that fit my prescriptions. I have to wear glasses inside of VR headsets and I'd be unable to wear this. My lenses are very thick, expensive and limit the kind of frames I can feasibly buy.
I had a Valve Index, but I had to wear glasses inside of it, which not only was it slightly uncomfortable, but it put stress on the bridge of the glasses and ultimately lead to them breaking.
Although inclusivity in fit isn't limited to the tech industry, sadly. Buying footwear (socks or shoes) as a trans woman with large feet (US size would be a woman's 13 or a man's 11.5, if the chart I'm looking at is right) is also very frustrating.
I wish companies wouldn't base their fits on "statistical averages" but would also consider people who fall outside of the common ranges.
Thank you for sharing - I've seen custom lens places that don't even have options for astigmatism so I can see how nuts it would be for anything beyond. You're also absolutely correct - we have a long way to go with inclusivity as a WHOLE but that's such a bigger topic. Funny enough - my mom always had trouble finding shoes for my brother because even men's shoes didn't go large enough @_@
Hoping for a better future - and thank you for being here!
My uncle is so cool. She always informs me of cool stuff.
Your channel is such a gem! Greetings from Brazil
Thank you! I'm happy you are here!
Excited for the eventual CRT review and tour.
What's there to review - CRT is NOICE. But yes yes, tours will come up one day
"The biggest advantage of the Pro XR glasses over the Viture One is light output. Viture says it raised the perceived brightness from 500 nits to 1,000 nits, which puts the glasses in line with the levels required to adequately view lots of high dynamic range (HDR) content. For comparison, the Rokid Max glasses go up to just 600 nits."
Does this mean the Pro XR is recognised as a HDR capable display when connected to a windows PC?
Hey! I tried to test this for you but my computer doesn't have a display port so I couldn't connect it. So I tried the dock. And it still was not detected by my PC. Hopefully someone else can answer your question TT_TT
@@yourcoolunclemarisathat is disappointing to hear. Thank you for trying!
Glad Viture sent you these because otherwise I would have never found your channel (TH-cam's algos suck!) and it looks like your content fits my interests! I was actually pretty interested in these (small space enjoyer, here) because they're basically pocketable large tech (if that makes sense?). Like I don't have the room to have a really large TV like this (or the cash), but these let me do that and in any room I want to be in. But your criticisms are totally valid and not ones I thought about. Definitely gives me a lot to think about before dropping that kind of cash... I swear I'm not a techbro or at least not the bad kind? :)
That's a totally valid want! They do sell them on Amazon, so you can always return them without hassle if they don't fit well. Also thanks so much for being here, I'm glad you found me too
Thank you for the very informative review.
Never been so early and never clicked so fast 💙✨
Thanks for the great review! I ordered it immediately as soon as you said this was made for average cis gendered white men! My sons and I should love this!!!! ❤️
It's so nice to see a company care enough to cater to us! I feel so privileged! 🥰
That's awesome, enjoy!
Just got it today. My only complaint is even the dimest mode still is a bit bright for my sensitive eyes. Changing the nose piece helped a lot!!! I had to use the one that didn't have pads to see the full screen. Once I changed that the picture was great, and very very bright! Lol
@@Valkron11 Oh yay, I'm glad they're a good fit! I hadn't thought about the brightness but I can absolutely see it being way too bright in a dark environment 🥲
I think this is the best review of tech I've seen in a long time. Really really appreciate you talking a lot about the whole 'there isn't just one body size' thing. I feel like a majority of people who review tech stuff or really stuff in general are the 'average straight white male' that never have issues with sizing of things. I got small hands and smallish head, so I imagine I would have similar issues.
My only gripe is that I realized you talked about sizing issues, but then don't give a frame of reference xD Would've been great (albeit /kinda/ weird i suppose) to know the circumference of your head, so that we know what 'small head' means.
Just for you, circumference is 21inches. The width of the glasses are about 13-14inches while my prescription glasses are 12-13.
im blind in my right eye and ive always wondered if vr would work for my sight, especially the ones with eye tracking
I don't know about vr, but with these glasses specifically, closing one eye did not affect the view significantly. I'm not sure how accurate a test that it though 😅
What we really need is for the Switch 2 to be the Virtual Boy 2 that you wear
THis guy gets it.
I have a pair of similar glasses that are, I think, a little more comfortable. I have ADHD so it’s hard for me to focus when there are people around me, so I used them at work to block out the surroundings…like a race horse with blinders on lol. But yeah, I found that my eyes would tire and i would start to feel discomfort on the bridge of my nose.
That sounds like a really neat use case - I think that falls under accessibility too! I'm glad yours are more comfortable too - there's a fine line between horse blinders and face cage sometimes loll
Your shirt is fire in this one uncle! Where’d you get it?
Thank you! I made it! I can list them on my ko-fi or hop on our discord if you'd like one.
@@yourcoolunclemarisa oh how cool! i will join and remind you in your discord!!
Curious about what's in your PS2 collection in the background :p
Not too many haha, one day I'll share my ~retro games~
Everyone knows that the real future of gaming is two game boy colors strapped to your face.
Or just one DS if you're feelin frisky
You said that with the built in dial it was almost enough to cover for your eyesight, but that knowledge doesn’t help much without knowing how bad your eyes are. Would you be willing to share that so I can know if I need extra lenses or whatnot?
-6!
nice shirt.
Please consider reviewing the rg35xx sp
So I actually was offered a review unit and I can give you a mini list on why I refused the review:
- Battery is on top of the CPU which is...bad design.
- Buttons are very loud and clicky
- Despite being modeled after the gba sp, it does not have the same aspect ratio?
Hey it‘s me… the guy from the other side of the spectrum 😂
Heyy, high five 🥲
My problem with glasses are...it's uncomfortable to be used for long time periods. I'm talking about glasses in general, not particularly AR glasses. But I want this tech to work, cause external monitors are way heavier.
Edit: I'm surprised that ultimate controller is way worse than the non collab ultimate controller.
I don't know if it's worse or better than the non-collab one, I feel like it should be the same? But the price difference is nonsensical.
Also glasses suck. Maybe we'll get smart contacts one day haha
You’ve got Unc aura
Many topics, seemingly as an average white male (feels as Neo in the tree) i was thinking on this, but if the screens are that bad, do you see pixels ? (Btw " The boot licking King'd_onn out " a very peculiar comparison. Boundwave < vs > Soundwave ringelS < alt+225 >
Last years model was trash. This one can only be an improvement.
From what I've read on reviews of the older model, it definitely is.
White male? What does race have to do with anything?
People with different ethnic backgrounds have different size ranges. This is why a "large" in Korean clothing is a 33 inch waist, and why black basketball players often have size 18 feet. If a company sizes their products for white males of European descent, those products are going to be too large for some Koreans, and too small for some black people.
Hmm 🤔 ok but average size head?? I am a black man and I’ve seen other black men with small size heads and others with big heads. Body structure is one thing but avenge culture head shapes sizes?! First I’ve heard?
So brave that you open the video with your love to @TheRetroFuture !
LMAO
