  • UPDATE from Cooler Master on battery life: The CK721 has the same power consumption thus have same working hours under 2.4GHz and Bluetooth mode due to below reason:
Although the keyboard in 2.4G mode has 1000Hz report rate, the keyboard key scan time is 6 ms(fastest), plus pressing the key "press" & "release" and the switch travel, it may take up to 10 ms. So The RF IC receives the keyboard MCU data, and the time to send it again is already 6 ms + RF processing time, so it is not much different from the Bluetooth standard sending method of 8 ms. Therefore, there isn’t big difference in power consumption(working hours) in 2.4GHz mode and BT mode.

This is the first time that I see a review of mechanical keyboard with ISO layout.

Think this is the one LGR did a review on. At least looks similar, but that one was much more simple I guess and you could change the switches. He said that he never used the volume type button. I wonder how waterproof that thing is, but looks great.

Thanks for the great and insightful review. Has made me convinced that despite the wirelessness and cool dial, the fact that these do not come with the option to get silent switches and have a relatively poor sounding battery life are dealbreakers. I think I will end up going with the Ducky one two SF, although I do wish it had wirelessness.

The most important thing for a proper custom keyboard is ofc missing, as it's almost always the case - either via or qmk compatibility or included option to change layer mapping! For a pricy keyboard that aspires to be interesting to a custom comunity this is a mandatory feature!

Hiya thanks for your video - just got the keyboard recently and the instructions guide booklet is clearly not enough!
One question from me though, I had been using the wireless bluetooth mode for a while with LED on, and some time later the LED is just gone. After one night of charging, the LED still isn't backed even when I tried pressing FN T or adjust it with my dial. The bottom indicator between shift and the up button is flickering in red - wondering if that affects anything?

Hey! Really great review! Gota question though. Besides switch through the BT devices, could you also switch between the Wire and the RF with the use of the Hotkeys? I was thinking of using it as I kinda of KVM switch between two devices that do not have bluetooth, and pressing just two hotkeys on the keyboard to go from the first device to the second would be really nice!

@@KitGuruTech Currently it's a Fellowes knockoff of Microsoft's Natural Keyboard. I really like the key layout and shape because I can keep my wrists straight. I'm a retired software engineer and have been typing for hours a day over decades and I hate the straight, flat keyboards.
My next one will probably be the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business (5KV-00001 ) because I can move the keypad and keep my mouse closer.

This keyboard would've been cool... 1 year ago, when they first unveiled it (as MK721).
In the meantime, plenty of manufacturers have ramped up production of 65% / 75% "exploded" and those boards have hotswap sockets.
