The Helen’s closet top and Arden pant outfit would be great with matching pants- for a jumpsuit look, and skirt- for a dress look. A great start to a capsule wardrobe…
WHITNEY! THANK YOU! You are so beautiful and one of my style icons (not kidding). Thank you so much for addressing the dry eye and your glasses. I also have been diagnosed with dry eye this year (although no one connected it to my thyroid issues, hmmm) and had to give up wearing my contacts. Combine that with menopause and I am in a beauty funk and feel like the ugly duckling. Getting old ain't for the young! I am blind as a bat without my glasses, and just trying to find ways to make myself happy about them. I call myself a "glasses sister" with all of the little girls at my school who have to wear glasses, as we have trouble with some of them not wearing them. We are glasses sisters now too!
The contacts I wear are dailies, and they really do away with dry eye during the day. I’ve been on thyroid meds for 25 years. I use Systane drops at night.
I was delighted to see another sew the look video. I don’t always use the same inspiration as you but your ideas get me thinking up my own ideas. Thank you for your constant inspiration and companionship.
Love the inspiration. Looking forward to the bias binding tutorial. Have several sizes of the binding makers, but afraid to use them. Would appreciate if you would show us how to do an invisible zipper and then the facing for a dress. Thanks. Really appreciate how hard you work for us to become better sewist.
Love so many of the summer looks. Fun, fun, fun and so many made me laugh (in a good way) Wanted to tell ya that I remember when I was home still I made all belts that were part of the pattern. Back then the co's must have given you pattern pcs and the hardware was available. If I could conquer them back when my brain wasn't "MATURE" I'm sure it would be still quite managable. I'm thinking it would be fun to try it again. I am so looking forward to summer, arn't you? XX KC
I see those self covered belt kits pop up in thrift shops and flea markets and I'm always wondering why they quit doing those. I think it would be so much fun to have matching belts to your dresses!
Whitney, your “Sew the Look” episodes are the BEST on TH-cam! I’m not sure I like the word “Influencer”, but I do take what you present to heart and I’m then smart enough to make it “my own” however, your content is always fresh, on-trend, and informative to the max. I purchased 3 yards of a beautiful printed eyelet last year when I was visiting New York. Now I know exactly when I’m going to do with it! (Influencer? Maybe, but I sure appreciate your guidance.). Once, again, you’ve done an outstanding job of research! Thank you! Your enthusiasm for your craft knows no bounds and it is contagious for sure. I’m looking forward to all the wonderful things you have planned for the future! My summer capsule is really taking shape, thanks to you! ❤️🧵
Yay! I loved that eyelet. Can’t wait to see what you do with it. JoAnn finally had some white eyelet that I’ve been looking for and that had to come home with me. :) My ambition and desire are greater than the time I have.
I'm looking forward to the flutter sleeve hack for the Willow. I will be ordering fabric in anticipation :-) Also I tried adding a little ease at the bust side seam while leaving the armscye and sleeve untouched when I sewed up a Metra Blazer using Karina's (Lifting Pins and Needles) hack, with no facings, pockets or hems, it worked beautifully, thank you for that. So, a Candence will be coming up soon. I also have the pattern and fabric to make a Lyric, but feel that may take a bit of fitting, too. You are inspiring me and giving me the confidence to try things.
Wonder if you could do an upcoming fall capsule…….I like your suggestions…..and am excited with your tips for short waisted women like myself. I wear shift dresses only because I have zero waist, have a very rectangular shape with a really short torso.
I love your channel!! Thank you for all the information. I need more information when you are types of fabrics, such as cotton lawn or cotton double gauze. Same for types other fabric types. I have not checked your channel to see if you have done fabric types but I think I remember you saying you need to do a video on types of cotton. I hope you can work this into your filming schedule. Have a wonderful weekend
Wearing colors that flatter your skin is so important. It still always amazes me when people look great in this color, like Whitney does. In high school, I made a jumper in this color, and EVERY single teacher called me up and told me privately that when I was sick, I should stay home. I’m a winter.
@@kathygann7632 😂 it’s so funny what a difference color makes! I would have NEVER picked this color from a store, but I tried it since it was on my card and just love it!
Whitney, what do you think about doing a video on make the look but for the 4 main body types? So let's say for instance you made a comment about drop waist dresses are great for short torsos and narrow hips but if you want that look and are a pear or apple, how can you create something similar and look good too. Just a thought from someone who rarely fits into 'en trend' garments.
Thanks for explaining the background blur, was hoping it wasn’t my eyesight going bad. 😂 you’ve nailed the make the looks, thanks for the video. ( love your top, great job on the fit).
Morning Whitney, thank you for the sew the RTW look. It’s amazing how many of your chosen patterns I have. Now it’s time to get it done. Have fantastic weekend. Val❤️🇨🇦🇬🇧
Sew Batik is great! I’ve gotten a few fabrics from them, I love that they are from the Midwest like me 😁. Their service is wonderful. I they sell to quilters, so quilters like the 72” width but they don’t use knits, so I’m not sure why they have a knit in such a wide width but I love that. The quality is excellent also. That striped fabric for look 8, on the top you could have one of the different colored strip going vertically on one side, and horizontally in the other side using the contrasting color way. I think that would be very nice. As usual, great video, wonderful ideas and very inspirational 👍
Just hopping in a the start: The fuzzyness of the background should have to do with the depth of field being shallower than you used to have it. Adjusting the aperature should fix that. A smaller aperature give a larger depth of field. Okay back to watching, will be back 😉💕
Have you sent anything besides the initial email with the workbook? I haven't received anything else. I do really like the workbook, so thank you for that. Also, thanks for putting this video together.
Hi Whitney-Love your video, especially the jumpsuit. How do I order the Tilly and the Buttons patterns from the USA? I only seem to be able to get their UK website up on my laptop. Where do you get the Tilly and the Buttons patterns from? I would love to get this pattern. Thanks.
You can order from their UK store. They ship internationally if you are ordering one of their paper patterns. However, it looks like they do have stockists in the USA and you can find them here: shop.tillyandthebuttons.com/pages/stockists#UNITEDSTATES . I hope this helps!
@@TomKatStitchery Thank you, I will try that. I just could not see U.S. $ on the UK website. I don't like ordering blindly if you know what I mean. thanks again.
Geesh, not trying to fill up your comments section, but if your taking ideas for tutorials, I’d love one on adding garment tags to your sewing items. I’m am having the worst time. I cannot tell how (or at which step) to add them to get them in correctly. I have had zero success so far. It’s frustrating because I have such cute tags to use. Mine are supposed to be sewn in and I’m thinking maybe I need to do the iron on ones instead. lol
Thank you, thank you for giving me direction and inspiration 😊 I was feeling a little overwhelmed as to what to make going forward. I keep buying fabric with no idea what to make and watching your vlog has given me focus on what I’m lacking in my summer wardrobe☀️🥰
I have found that you do need a bikini top under the rash guard for support. My daughter wears a rash guard pretty much every time she puts on a bathing suit, but she wears a bikini top underneath.
Are you asking how I add the color to the circles? I do that in Canva. It's a free promotional/graphics website that also includes a paid subscription (I have the paid subscription). It's a lot of fun to play in!
OK, let me play around with Canva a little more. I guess I didn’t find how to add the colors that I wanted. I felt like I didn’t exactly know if the color was correct or not. Does that make sense? 😂
@@Northandsouthsewing yes, it does. I uploaded my digital color card (from Color Guru) and then used the color picker tool in Chrome. It gives me the HEX codes for my colors that I can then use on my graphics.
Im so glad you featured sew batik. I have shopped them for years. She has fabulous fabric, all great quality.
It is so beautiful! I'll be talking about them more soon!
For the Drop waist dress, the Style Arc Pixie Woven dress is spot on
You're right! That would be an excellent one as well and I even have that pattern!
The Helen’s closet top and Arden pant outfit would be great with matching pants- for a jumpsuit look, and skirt- for a dress look. A great start to a capsule wardrobe…
It would! I love a faux jumpsuit or dress!
Thank you Whitney! Lots of fun ideas. I can't wait to see how you hack the Willow Wrap Top, so cute!
