      @@madebycathcraft I've ordered that last pattern, it's currently £5 from Hobby Craft 🙂 Find the Indie patterns easier to follow but it does have a lot of options, could see myself making the dress version as well as the jumpsuit.

      Oh fab that’s a good price! Yes I prefer indie pattern instructions too but I did find that one not too bad to follow, hope you enjoy it too 😊

    Oh my I love your selections.....the arianna by style arc I made and i had to adjust the bust abit but after that it was great......oh and I shortened the skirt 3 inches and was still to long for me but then again i am 5ft 4inches......but I liked making it just as much as i like wearing it. I made two dresses and I hacked the skirt to make it into a "peplum " blouse for my 3rd.

    Hi Cath. Just viewed you for the first time. Love your summer wardrobe selection, especially the 'Chalk & Notch' dress. Trying to improve my skills, keep re-making a shift dress pattern! You've inspired me to branch out! Obtaining pretty fabrics such as you've used isn't easy though, especially during lockdown (even the buttons you've chosen look great). Any help on that would be much appreciated.

      Hi Susan, thanks for watching! Some of my favourite online fabric shops are Minerva, Guthrie-Ghani, SewMeSunshine and Lamazi Fabrics. The latter three are small businesses and really responsive if you have questions about fabrics, pattern matches, etc. For buttons I often to go Minerva and also Textile Garden.

    Lovely vlog as always! Definitely make up a Fringe dress for your daughter! That would be adorable 🥰
    Agreed on the Charlie Caftan being fiddly! I made one up in viscose and I watched a tutorial multiple times for the waist placket 😬
    I have the Ariana dress pattern! Great inspiration to sew one up 💕

      @madebycathcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much! Yes I’m really tempted to get the mini fringe for my daughter! 😊 I’m glad it’s not just me re the Charlie caftan, I’m looking forward to trying it again at some point and seeing if it’s just as fiddly second time round 😄
      The Ariana is such a pretty pattern hope you enjoy sewing it 😊💖

    P.S. Both pronunciations of voile are correct. One is American English and the other is the more French. 😁

    As usual, great makes. The fabrics you choose for the patterns are always spot on. I'ts interesting how we all have different opinions and success with indie patterns. I for one have not been successful with indie patterns. I purchased the book "Tilly and the Buttons -- Stretch" after seeing it in your channel, and have had absolutely no luck in making the the Stella Hoodie and Joggers. I can't figure out why I have not had any luck. I also tried making the Bibi Pinafore dress without success. I have been curious as to why all your makes are from indie patterns and not the top four. I grew up with my Mom sewing McCalls and Simplicity, and that's what I've always sewn. Good to see you as always.

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much. Oh that’s a shame you haven’t had success with the patterns you’ve tried from the Stretch book. I would like to try more big 4 patterns, I have really liked the small number of ones I have sewn to date and I feel more confident with their instructions these days 😊 thanks for watching

  • @sarahblack8913

    thank you for another fab vlog, there are some great recommendations there :) I've been eying up the charlie kaftan for a while and you've convinced me that I NEED it (that's what I'll tell hubby anyway lol)
    Also.... is shirring difficult? I've avoided it because it looks all technical, but it gives such a nice effect!
    Thank you again :)

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! 😄 glad to have convinced you on the Charlie caftan, it’s such a nice pattern for summer.
      I was a bit daunted by shirring but it was more straight forward than I thought. I hand wound the bobbin with the shirring elastic and then gave it a go on some practice fabric first and used normal tension and it worked fine. 😊

    Loved this video! Thank you, I have the fringe dress and the penny dress and I'm now thinking of buying the cocowawa pattern - I wonder if you know of a similar pattern (love the side ties) but with a full collar rather than mandarin? I'm not keen on mixing patterns as I'd hate for it all go wrong x

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! That’s a good question on a similar pattern to the honeycomb with a full collar, I haven’t come across one but I know the Foldline have a really good pattern database on their website so you could try having a look there x
