    I am headed to the beach for a week. Taking a huge quilt to finish and a formal for a wedding to complete. And then…I’ll do some shopping! (For more fabric and patterns that I do not need) 😉

    Hello Whitney and gidget
    I am so glad to hear that you have been busy cutting out for your daughter ❤👍
    And that my own experience has helped you I think that its so true that grey hair does have wisdom in it's roots and happy to pass it on
    Can't wait to see all you make for the two of you 👗👕👚👖
    Love these videos and happy that you referred to a few McCall's patterns as I don't have indie patterns
    Take care and happy sewing 🧵 🪡
    God bless you

    Whitney says something that I plan to do: 'add feminine details to bolder, masculine prints and weaves'; and I will take that one more step: 'masculine details to frilly, feminine prints'. Recently, I made a huge mistake, adding a bold, solid trim to a masculine stripe--don't do that! My sweater garment went in the wrong direction (too masculine for me) so the only way to fix it, is to top it either with a very feminine, frilly jacket, or layer the masculine sweater over the top of a frilly, feminine collared blouse. Oh the challenges we face! LoL Thank you, Whitney. I enjoyed this show. ~ L

    Whitney, these kind of videos are the best, and unique as I know of no others that create content like this. Plus, I can tell you love to create, dream, and re-create these looks. I always buy something, or a look...I mean how can you not...right. We are both warm colors so everything you choose I can see on myself...Ha! 🤩Debby from Wisconsin.

    You can see why we love these ‘Recreate the Look’ Whitney as you do it so well! The look is much more affordable with you showing us how and always something I want to make. For me it’s the yellow linen dress using the controversial pattern! I just love that pattern and those sleeve’s belong on a couple of items in my wardrobe 😂 Thanks again for the inspiration 🇬🇧

    I’ve thought a couple of times about how your daughter might like seeing Diane Kenton’s style. She always rocked menswear and did a great job accenting her waist for her more feminine looks.

    As always, this was so much fun! Some surprises, but I usually look to several sources to decide on my seasonal “look” and go on the hunt for patterns (both on hand and ones to be purchased) and fabrics. Even at 65, I want to look current within my preferred classic style preference. Thanks for this episode…you do it very well!

    I'm doing a year-long virtual sewing class. Last year, we did How to Sew on Your Vintage Singer (although any machine welcome). This year is dressmaking following the 50s/60s Bishop Method of Clothing Construction. I took one look at the headscarf on the vest and pants pic, and it screamed for sewing one of the fabric triangle scarves from the late fifties/early sixties that is one of the course projects.

    Love this type of video! I appreciate the amount of work it takes! Re: your daughter; I grew up with a mother that could sew everything and much of it with thrifted fabric. As you talk about your daughter's style it causes me to think back to my growing up years. My style was classic edgy. I was the only one who dressed like that. Even my fabric choices were different. I had a 3 piece suit. Thank you for your work!

    Really enjoyed this, thanks! I made shorts from vintage washed linen from the fabric store and wore them to death this past summer. I paired them with love notions Allegro bottoms and they were my go to shorts! They are sooo soft now after many washes! Love them. BTW, Style-arc has a pant sale atm, 20% off. All pants, or certain pants I’m not a 100% sure. I just checked and it goes for 3 more days. Add to cart, the coupon shows up there.

    I forgot to mention when you said your daughter announced that
    Mom I want a 3 piece suit lol
    Knowing that you can create this look for her
    I just watched
    Sew essential video called her lastest make
    It's a loose boxy blazer VOGUE 9133
    Perfect and she talks about how easy it was
    You just need to get the elves sewing at night
    You know the story of the elves and the "shoemaker" 😉
    I think there are some pretty easy patterns for the pants and vest as you have mentioned a few easy ways to get the look 👍

    OMG, I just love these videos!!! But, Whitney, please help me, if you can - your body type and measurements are very similar to mine, but I never look nearly as good as you do in Love Notions knit tops. They tend to look sort of sloppy on me. Is it a simple case of choosing too large a size? I know you can’t tell me for certain without knowing all of the details, but I’d SOOO appreciate your gut feeling on this, and I know you have a lot of experience with Love Notions, as well as experience with fitting a busty figure. Help me, Obiwan…

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😂 it sounds like you're picking too big of a size. My high bust measurement is 36", but I sew a medium in Love Notions (the high bust of a medium is 35") and then do the full bust pieces. I'd try going down a size!

    • @lorieburtt592
      @lorieburtt592 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TomKatStitchery Thank you ❤️ I do so appreciate your input. After since getting this result with patterns from other companies, as well, I think you are absolutely correct. Fitting for a very full bust is a lot trickier than just making sure you’ve made the technically correct pattern adjustments, as that alone does not automatically result in a flattering garment. I frequently joke that my boobs need their own zip code 😂 Thanks again!
