One thing you have to consider. Everyone always acts like this cutscene takes place over the course of a few minutes. When maybe it actually took the light months or even a year to reach the Darkness fleet. We could have been in the middle of slaying Nokris or perhaps entering the dreaming city for the first time when the light finally hit the Pyramid ships. It’s really cool seeing how bungie has elaborated on this story, adding bits of lore here and there and now it’s becoming the main story. It really gives the sense of fear and paranoia of a creeping darkness that is always following
I can't get over how amazing the music is in this cutscene. It is both uplifting and incredibly sad. We see this cutscene as something good (the first half, at least :p ) - the Traveler's Light reaching out into the solar system once again. But to be fair, this ost similarly gives off a sense of hopelessness. It really perfectly sums up the feeling of a Collapse where something so other-worldly, something so godlike and powerful can just simply sweep everything we have known away and there is nothing you can even think of doing to stop it. Kudos to Bungie, man. It's so short but I am almost inclined to say that this is my favorite track from the entire Destiny series.

it’s literally stated in the games that the traveler’s “light” isn’t the same thing as actual light shining from the sun or stars or whatever lol, the light the traveler gives off is a paracausal force that exists outside the laws of physics
Makes me wonder what Bungie had originally planned at this point. They definitely were going to bring a whole race of new enemies with this I mean, look at the amount of ships there are. It’s similar to the dreadnaught being one big ship and having smaller ships around it piloted and inhabited by the hive.
It's because Bungie decided to take the laziest possible route, and make the "Darkness race" just one character. So now we know that those ships are just empty drones once used by the race that makes up the Witness. Such an underwhelming and anti-climatic reveal....
>2029 >E3 >Bungie shows destiny "You will finally be able to fight the darkness. However, the darkness has TAKEN form." (Crowd murmurs in excitement) "They have adapted, changed since the last time they have met in battle." (Some louder moans of pleasure) "We call them torg. Taken Borg. Thank you."
And yet here we are am I the only one who sort of misses seeing the almighty just sitting there next to mercury. And yeah the pyramids just got from one end of the galaxy to the other in 2 years imagine the speed
I hear you. Its truly been a journey and I'm proud to experience everything. The nostalgic from forsaken makes me feel good BC those were some good times. Now things come to a close and its like...damn💯
Fun fact: The song that is playing is from Martin O’Donnell’s Music of the Spheres, which was the original Destiny 1 soundtrack that was scrapped after Activision disapproved of it. Meaning it was to be part of Destiny 1’s original story before Bungie screwed him over and the story was gutted.
I knew very little about Destiny when I started playing. In fact I plan on finishing D1's story by this week, but even I could predict what the ships at the end were.
On Mercury, we shattered Panoptes in our attempts to save the realm of time and destroyed the planetary core consuming Nessus that was clogging up the Leviathan hull. In Warmind we stopped Xol and Nokris from using Rasputin's power to their advantage. In Forsaken we'll destroy the barons that escaped from the prison of elders, and then proceed to fight what manipulated them. We'll go back to Saturn (Likely a hive Expansion) In Destiny 3 the darkness itself will arrive and we will destroy it.
In D3 we'll actually be able to use the darkness and light it was a leak and I'm pretty sure it's true and we'll be traveling to Europa, on of Jupiter's many moons
for the light to have travelled that far that quickly it would have to have gone so fast that they wouldn't have even noticed the explosion. Also kudos to the darkness music.
The good ol’ days, when all we had to worry about was a hostile takeover of the city, Vex Mind that could predict the future, and a Warmind with a satellite network and a god complex.
It’s a treat when they use music from D1, they should utilize more of Music of the Spheres for the finale. This is what I think of when I listen to tribulation now.
I love how this foreshadowed Destiny 2's first 3 DLC's. First showing: Mercury - Curse of Osiris Mars - Warmind Reef/Tangled Shore - Forsaken I really wish that We went back to the dreadnaught in the fourth dlc but instead we got Shadowkeep. Maybe something for the Witch Queen?
Less than a month out for The Final Shape, and it's interesting looking back at some of these cutscenes. This had to have been one that made a lot of people do the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme lol, assuming they'd looked through some of the earlier Destiny concept art or watched that panel they did all those years ago, that is. Certainly made me go "IT'S THE BLACK PYRAMIDS!" haha. Well... Only thing that comes to mind watching this is "holy shit they took their sweet time" lmao. Like, I get it, they actually made it to our system pretty goddamn fast considering the literal astronomical distance they had to cover... But in real life it felt like forever, and once they got here... Nothing. Well, not "nothing." It wasn't like stuff didn't happen. If you played through Season of Arrivals, you know stuff went down. I was of two minds about it back then. One one hand, I did feel a bit disappointed. The pyramids had finally made it here and they were just....... parked there. On the OTHER hand, it really was a rather unnerving sight to have your enemy at your front door and just have em kinda chill there for a bit before anything major happened.

Knights Watch Yeah but when you have a magic space entity that holds a giant fuck you sign to every known law of physics ever then anything is possible lol
Thats 30,000 should be divided by 10,000 . Thats means 30,000÷10,000: 3Years . In 3 Years Destiny 3 come's out :)
Good thing the Darkness uses Dark Speed.
it’s literally stated in the games that the traveler’s “light” isn’t the same thing as actual light shining from the sun or stars or whatever lol, the light the traveler gives off is a paracausal force that exists outside the laws of physics

After the Witch Queen, most beautiful ending I have ever seen.
Rewatching this the night before Final Shape and it still brings chills when that energy wave impacts the Black Fleet
Makes me wonder what Bungie had originally planned at this point. They definitely were going to bring a whole race of new enemies with this I mean, look at the amount of ships there are. It’s similar to the dreadnaught being one big ship and having smaller ships around it piloted and inhabited by the hive.
Yeah you can tell many plans has changed and it becomes a lot less boring and isn't as crazy. TFS is awesome but sure isn't as spooky.
Destiny 2 red war was so much like destiny 1 compared to how it is now.
I remember seeing this for the first time and going bat shit crazy
And now they are basically just chilling
I love this game
Man idk what it is but the pyramid ships do NOT give that incredibly ominous vibe that their appearances up until beyond light gave. I kinda miss it.
Rhulk’s pyramid gives that vibe but otherwise yeah I agree
It's because Bungie decided to take the laziest possible route, and make the "Darkness race" just one character. So now we know that those ships are just empty drones once used by the race that makes up the Witness. Such an underwhelming and anti-climatic reveal....
@@UltraRisen Even worse, we now have a darkness race coming but it was introduced way too late to matter. Shit sucks
The soundtrack in the beginning always gets me, considering it's from D1...
I just realized it the other day. Marty really created masterpieces for the destiny universe
@MENACING BEEF MASTER It's called "Tribulation" from "Music of the Spheres"
>2029
>E3
>Bungie shows destiny
"You will finally be able to fight the darkness. However, the darkness has TAKEN form."
(Crowd murmurs in excitement)
"They have adapted, changed since the last time they have met in battle."
(Some louder moans of pleasure)
"We call them torg. Taken Borg. Thank you."
😬😬this hasnt aged well
And yet here we are am I the only one who sort of misses seeing the almighty just sitting there next to mercury.
And yeah the pyramids just got from one end of the galaxy to the other in 2 years imagine the speed
Beautiful cutscene 😢😢😢
Gives me chills every time
5 years later and people are simping for one of the dudes inside those pyramids
Who wouldn’t dump over megamind

0:43. My dreadnaught! So many memories of trying to crush those guardians
god i feel old i was in highschool when i started d1 on day 1
FINAL CUT SCENE
THE BEGINNING OF THE FINAL SHAPE
Coming back to this clip after seeing the witness pull up on the traveler
Can’t wait for everyone to talk about first seeing this scene when the light vs dark saga is over and get nostalgic over destiny 2 in a few years
I hear you. Its truly been a journey and I'm proud to experience everything. The nostalgic from forsaken makes me feel good BC those were some good times. Now things come to a close and its like...damn💯
1:19
Yes , RISE my friends
It’s crazy looking back how they teased the darkness 4 years ago, the end still gives me goosebumps even knowing but the pyramids mean now.
"Let them come and see. How shapeless they are." - The Witness
I guess you could say we pretty much came full circle now!!!
The red war is the entire reason the black fleet found us change my mind
killing Crota led to Oryx, killing Oryx led to Ghaul. Killing Ghaul led to The Witness. Wonder what will happen after we kill The Witness?
@@iniassmith3434The gardener or the winnower will appear and fuck us ?
if you compare the pyramids now and then, they got a visual rework with a more pyramid shape and less bumps and ridges
1:16 my parents when they see my report card
The sound effect/music that starts at 1:20 is my favorite sound in the game, I wish it was an actual song or music file
Its called Salvation
my friend... beyond light has delivered what you were seeking
Knowing the traveler is so much more than what we know. I feel like it could break out of ghouls prison very easily if it needed to
Now... listening to this ending cutscenes music gives me even more chill because it literally gonna play for one year
No no you have a point
0:18 the moon just chilling with a dormant pyramid inside of it
I knew very little about Destiny when I started playing. In fact I plan on finishing D1's story by this week, but even I could predict what the ships at the end were.
The light ceases to expand as it hits the pyramid ships... Shadowkeep Hype!
War Numen What does this mean then?
@@Jennifer-lt7vu it's the Darkness. The true Darkness. Able to suppress the power of the traveler. Or maybe the wave of light awakened them
Me: that was incredible! But why didn’t the Traveller do this before?
Witness: (appears)
Me: oh. That’s why.
seeing this pretty 2 days before lightfall.
fuck they used to be so far... not anymore
We'll go back to Saturn (Likely a hive Expansion)
In Destiny 3 the darkness itself will arrive and we will destroy it.
Kinda makes me sad how we'll have to wait for a whole new destiny game for a single enemy I wish they could just build onto D2 😣
Mark Peterson the season pass for destiny 2 doesnt end until august of 2019 so maybe it will be a dlc
The Jew I want to see the guardian completely lose earth to the darkness and have to retreat to a new solar system. I wonder how that would pan out.
@@adrianai7 I'm guessing they'll finish off year three with savathun dlc
In D3 we'll actually be able to use the darkness and light it was a leak and I'm pretty sure it's true and we'll be traveling to Europa, on of Jupiter's many moons
I've only just noticed that orix's ship is above Saturn at 0:44
for the light to have travelled that far that quickly it would have to have gone so fast that they wouldn't have even noticed the explosion.
Also kudos to the darkness music.
I seriously cant wait for this god dang dlc to come out the long but short wait is what is killing me tho
And look where are we now. Probably about to fight another disciple (Nezarec).
What ajourney.
I mean you aren’t wrong about the nezarec part
The good ol’ days, when all we had to worry about was a hostile takeover of the city, Vex Mind that could predict the future, and a Warmind with a satellite network and a god complex.
It’s a treat when they use music from D1, they should utilize more of Music of the Spheres for the finale. This is what I think of when I listen to tribulation now.
I love how this foreshadowed Destiny 2's first 3 DLC's. First showing:
Mercury - Curse of Osiris
Mars - Warmind
Reef/Tangled Shore - Forsaken
I really wish that We went back to the dreadnaught in the fourth dlc but instead we got Shadowkeep.
I was 14 when this came out. I’m now 23 going to be 24 😢😢😢 time has flown by
I hope that that a black dorito is able be be is own fully fleshed out explore segment like oryx’s ship
Only destiny 2 vets got goosebumps when they saw the dreadnaught
sub to Rokin Roco2000 I saw that and I was like. Will Rasputin destroy that next?
Little did we know that with the light of the traveler reaching across Sol, it wouldn't stop the darkness that was coming for it. (Sunsetting)
Oh boi it’s the evil toblerones
They warned us. From the beginning.
I know that the pyamids are HUGE because in one of the shadowkeep mission it showed one of the pyamid ships and it was HUGE
They are pretty massive
And now the one on Io has smaller pyramids surrounding it (The smaller ones are same size as the one we found on the moon).
@@numbjuhnu ???
My game lost connection while playing this cut scene so its a good thing youtube exists
“Are we there yet”
Nah, queue times are going up lol
