    A rusty lemon. A bondo rusty lemon also bad. My beetle had battery tray gone and rust inside vent to motor under rear window. It also had been in accident and was straightened and bondo ha ha ha. The front bumper bounced around on straigtened cracked front inner quarters and enlarged the cracks. Ha ha ha. Its all fixed now. Lots of welds lots of bondo removal. And luckily just a little rust. Thanks for the video!!

      My pleasure thanks for watching. Hope people don't buy the lemons I have over the years! 😅👍

    A new one for me: cracked framehorns!! Who knew? But quite common for bajas with reduction boxes apparently. That's why splitties have an extra brace under theirs!

      Really? I've never heard of that one before! Thanks for the tip cos I'm getting a Baja itch again! LOL. Where do they crack? Seen and owned a couple (although one only for a day as I'd paid a conditional deposit and got my money back quick!! Lol) of bugs with cracked tunnels/frameheads, both were slammed on adjusters. Cheers dude 😊👍

      @@PeoplesCar mine's failed at the top, just under the axle on the driver's side. The crack has split the width of the horn and is pulling away the spot welds to the lower section. I need to get the engine and gearbox out to weld it up and fit a trapeze bar, it's why you haven't seen my car about this year.

      @@BajaBill7 Wow that's mental! Been meaning to fit a Trap bar myself but not got round to that. Considering drying it LOL, should make an interesting vid if nowt else. I wonder why having raised suspension causes more load on the horns there?

    • @BajaBill7
      @BajaBill7 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@PeoplesCar it's due to the reverse torque load from the reduction boxes spinning the axles the opposite way. Standard beetles squat under acceleration, forcing the rear suspension down and trying to lift the gearbox out of the framehorns. That's why high horsepower cars fit straps over the top of the gearboxes. Reduction boxes, or portal axles, reverse the loads under acceleration, lifting the rear suspension and forcing the gearbox down. This exceeds the bending forces the framehorns were originally designed for, so they fail!

      They are more commonly known as Beetles here. Bugs more of an American word. Aren't they Bellybuttons in Brazil because everyone had one? 😅

    Rather than mess about with heater channels why not just run some pipes along the floor ;)

      Do you mean structurally? I know someone doing just that but is doing a body drop. My Rat Rod project has something similar too as not using a Bug Body. 😊👍
