Black Adam getting his own movie makes sense if he's supposed to make repeat appearances. The final battle being the heroes trying to beat him and then ultimately dying painting the picture in the peoples minds that he not only cleaned up those occupying their country AND managed to kill people who in their eyes were trying protect the people who were trying to oppress both him and them. This sets him up as a possible enemy to the heroes but ALSO a potential hero should the situation fit for it. For example he can end up going to a city to kill a group of weapon's manufactures that are supplying weapons to terrorists attacking his people. The city they are in happens to be where Shazam is. Black adam is ruthlessly killing everyone who works for the weapon manufacturer to make sure they can't supply any more weapons and Shazam fights him to try and convince him that some of the people there aren't responsible. Of course this is just me spitballing but yeah putting b maybe c list heroes to try and stop Black Adam for him to kill (make them a bit likable please) would cement him as a threat and bad guy. The two biggest mistake The Rock made were: 1. Missed opportunity to make more money from the actual franchise Black Adam based off from. 2. Not setting up Black Adam properly because he followed the Venom route. Case in point: a jocks didn't listen to the nerds on this one and failed on his own mistake.
I mean I could kinda see superman showing up to investigate, but immediately recruit shazam. Because from shazam 2. I got the impression that the shazam family is sticking to threats in their particular city. So maybe shazam isn't fully established yet to answer the call. But I'm sure the wizard would've also immediately called Billy and said that black adam has returned.
Adds more weight and severity to the situation for Supes to show up. You know it’s serious when the worlds most powerful being has to investigate. It helps the black Adam character. But in the end, there was no helping this shit 😂

Whoever made this video does not understand cinema at all. Period sorry, but not everybody is Doug Walker. On the internet, there's a trend of bashing movies. No one has anything good to say about it. At this point I think people are just doing it for clicks
I do think it probably made more sense for him to appear in Shazam before getting a spinoff but I also think he was at least halfway decent in the role
decent? can we stop taking iconic villains and turn them to these "morally ambiguous" antiheroes? And the rock's black adam is not even an antihero, he is just a hero who remind the audience every five minutes that "i am not a hero". The superhero version of "i'm not like other girls"
this is what happens when you give the actors too much power, actors should have a say in the story's they star in, but not to this extent!, i hate how much they ruined this movie because the rock wanted to be the star of the show, even tho the rock looked the part, but he simply wanted way too damn much, i hope the same doesn't happen to james gunn. what makes things worse is that the wrong is a pretty good actor .
If I'm being honest I rather the actors have the power over the execs. I'll watch Black Adam 100 times before I would ever watch the 2017 Justice League or really any of the DCEU theatrical cuts. but to be clear, the directors should have all the power and they can take input from the actors but no one should be allowed to overwrite a directors vision.
He wanted to be DC's Deadpool. He could never bring himself to play a villain, especially one that would be defeated by the hero. I'd say he'd make a good Kilowag, but I imagine he wouldn't want to be in CGI or otherwise have his face obscured. He's like the Hulk Hogan of comic movies. Must be the star even if he's not the star.
When I daydream about being a movie director, I tell myself I would NEVER hire any actor that has stipulations like "my character cannot be kicked while down/be seen passing out drunk/etc." Tbf, I've never had the choice of "work with XXXXX make hundreds of thousands" vs "work with YYYYY make a GUARANTEED MINIMUM of TENS OF MILLIONS" so I'm sure it means jack shit to an actual director But as a viewer, people who work with these actors have no artistic integrity, and as far as I'm concerned their names on projects= safe, tame trash meant to pacify children while babysitting. Fun fact: Apple has contracts(maybe patents, idk exact term) that says their products can't be used in a movie by a villain. So if you see the main character use IPhone, and their friend is android, you know who's gonna betray the hero in the second act.
The separation of Black Adam and Shazam really hurt things from the business. Combining characters is built in promo for the connecting films. The way Marvel teased each upcoming film, just created momentum. Even a small tease of Back Adam in the first Shazam, would have seeded excitement in fans that would have carried over to Black Adam.
I can tell you exactly how the conversation went: Bean counters: Super hero movies are big! You could make a lot of money, even with an unknown character! Dwayne: Great! Can I be Superman? Bean counters: No. Dwayne: Ok, who is powerful enough to beat Superman? Bean counters: *checks with the nerds* There's this guy named Black Adam. Dwayne: Fine! That's me. Bean counters: He's a villain. Dwayne: Make him a hero. Bean counters: Ok. His main rival is Shazam. Dwayne: Who the hell is Shazam? Bean counters: *checks with the nerds* A very prominent hero in the DC universe. At one time he was more popular than Superman. Dwayne: Not anymore. Now it's me. Bean counters: ... Ok, Mr. Rock! You're coming to my kid's birthday party this weekend, right? Dwayne: Depends. Will your wife be there? Bean counters: Of course! Dwayne: Well, then, absolutely! Bean counters: .............................................
Not how it went. The Rock was casted as Black Adam back in the early 2000s for an unmade Shazam movie. He pretty much pushed for this movie since then. Also these days Black Adam is closer to an antihero. The movie is clearly based on the period where he joined the Justice Society.
It's funny that in a movie about Adam, I walked away thinking the best things in it were Hawkman and Dr. Fate. DJ talked up a big game, but Adam was a spectator who simply reacted to events around him, and for all about being an "antihero", he never once killed or hurt any good guys. He was reduced to another bland Rock action hero.
It's a shame about Sabbac. He's the true victim of this movie. In the comics, Ishmael Gregor was a Russian gangster who had been killing people since he was a teenager. Basically just evil born, but the difference is he found himself checked at every turn by either the authorities or his own mob superiors, which is why he turned to the occult and ultimately usurped the mantle of Sabbac from his predecessor, Timothy Karnes, who was actually at one point Freddy Freeman's (Captain Marvel Jr) foster brother who himself became CMJ's arch nemesis after he grew to resent the fact that when they were separated, Freddy just got a way better life than him, Karnes being subjected ro the abuse of his guardians, iirc. This IP has so much great lore that just got cast aside by forcing this movie into existence. Damn shame.
One thing I wished Black Adam delved into was his relationship with Hawkman and Dr. Fate. In the comics, Adam was the advisor and ally to Khufu (the original Hawkman) alongside Nabu (Original Dr. Fate) before his turn to villainy. It would've been a great opportunity for Worldbuilding and a cool chance to see Adam seeing the return of his former allies. It would also tie into why Hawkman is so antagonistic, as he possesses the memories of his past lives, and would explain why he doesn't trust Adam. Likewise, Dr. Fate who saw the best parts of Adam, believes he redeem himself. But in the film, we see the characters, and they're reduced to flying punching bags to make the Rock look cool.
I do respect him alot for the fact that he donated 10 mil to an aid fund that the striking actors and writers could dip into, but yeah, his ego does ruin movies.
Best thing I can say about this film is Cyclone's outfit is truly peak superhero costume design. You can hardly tell from any promotional images but on cam, in the movie itself, she looks fucking fire fr.
The fact that people who didnt read comics will confuse why black adam is shazam main villain but shazam or adam never appeared in each other film, its a bad starting point because it would make sense for adam to build up his character as villain for shazam like venom against spiderman so black adam can change from villain to anti hero like venom does
venom only work cos of the actor as you can see its already in diminishing retuen the 2nd didnt do as good and that venom hasn't met spiderman nor will he
Black Addams dalliance with anti-heroism isn't all that recent, it started in 52 that came out in 2006, 17 years ago now, but I didn't find the film bad, just pedestrian, middle of the road and even a bit boring at times, and you're spot on, having a solo Black Adam vehicle with no Shazam is Like making a Venom film with no Spider-Man......oh wait.
So damn unfortunate. He should have just let Black Adam be introduced through Shazam and THEN his own movie. And for what reason the Rock just HAD to be a hero instead of what Black Adam originally was I don't know. But again it was probably the ego. We would have loved him even more as an antihero
Warner Bros execs: “Hey let’s hand over the reins of our dying cinematic universe to a narcissistic, 50 year old, ex wrestler. Yes, he will make us billions in the decades to come. Brilliant!”
"Standard super hero movie" is exactly how I'd put it. There were some good moments throughout, but the overall story was nothing special and there were a few plot points that really stood out as especially idiotic.
They also had 10 years to write and perfect the film, but it feels like they wrote it at the last minute in an afternoon. Yes, Rock had a big role in the movies failure because of his ego, but WB played an even bigger role by having such terrible management and planning.
Ten years is a long time. Things change a lot in just a year. People forget things within a year or in months. Probably they assigned few people to look after it's production process that those few just lost track when they side tracked momentarily to other projects. Then Rock suddenly calls one day he's finished building himself up and they chalk up a script.
Again, I'll say it... "Black Adam" didn't kill the DCEU. Final nail in the coffin? Perhaps... although "The Flash" could argue that point... but the DCEU was already fucked, as much as I hate to say that. JUSTICE FOR HENRY, BEN, AND RAY!
As much as I agree that the rock kneecapped the series I think there were issues beyond him. For crying out loud captain marvel LITERALLY created the first league of villains with the monster society of evil and the still had to make up the daughters of atlas for antagonists.
I love Black Adam, his mighty fist landed the killing blow to DC and now it's finally dead & gone along with the filth that Synder brought to the table.
Imagine straining so hard to b* call at a director & can't even spell it right. And thinks Rock did a favor to your issues of a man you have it rent free in the head. LoL to that.
The Rock was horrible casting from the beginning. He can't do a middle eastern accent, refused to have the pointy ears and wear a wig. He was never going to be Black Adam, he was always going to be Dwayne.
I'm glad you gave props to Aldis Hodge doing the best with a sparse part in a meh script. He's been one of my favorite actors since I got attached to his portrayal of Alex Hardison in the _Leverage_ series.
One line really annoyed me - the one where they talk about how Intergang members should be arrested so "the authorities" can deal with them. But Intergang is a conquering invader - they ARE the authorities. There is no way for "the authorities" to do anything - this isn't catching bank robbers, it's a revolution. But naw, "Take them to the authorities."
I think you nailed it when you described the movie as a sketch as opposed to an intricate painting. I honestly liked a lot of the elements, esp. the dynamic between Dr. Fate and Hawkman and I truly felt saddened that there wouldn't be any more of Dr. Fate - he was by far my favorite character. There was a lot of potential here, as you said, and I wish we would've gotten to see it fulfilled. But even so, I still enjoyed the good parts of the movie and sometimes think about what it could've been.
The movie in and of itself is fine. I liked Dwayne Johnson in the role and the action was pretty cool. However, the Rock's egotistical hype building for this movie was absurd. It didn't restructure or change the trajectory of anything. It brought back Superman, but Superman was an existing character in this universe. It's also weird that the Rock tried to base the next phase of DC around himself and the pathetic, desperate, stupid executives at WB let him, because they had no other ideas. I'm kind of glad that they rebooted things, because this would've been utter nonsense.
Honestly completely agree! This movie wasn't amazing but it was easily on the same level as most marvel movies. Also as a die hard Dr fate fan, I'm genuinely thankful to have gotten artwork and a f cool scenes with him in live action. Even if t wasn't the greatest movie at least we got to see a good de fate and hawk an in live action. And the rock IS black Adam. Thus movie is way better in retrospect after seeing the atrocity that is the flash.
I agree with your assessment about Black Adam and the Rock. Black Adam is a Shazam nemesis. At least show up as a cameo in a Shazam movie. However, I'm not sure if it will save the DCEU or would make the Shazam or Black Adam movies a success. I appreciate the Rock trying to revitalize the DCEU with Superman though.
I’m sad that this was a one off, though it was weird to have an anti hero story without Shazam, it wasn’t a bad movie, loved dr fate, hawk man, atom. Just said to see it not continuing
It's just, in the comics when black Adam joined the jsa for a while, it was after he has been captain marvel arch nemisis for years. It would've made sense to introduce black Adam as a villain in the Shazam sequel and then introduce him being reformed by a jsa in a later movie, preferably after the jsa had already been established. Like, he's a villain for a reason, but the rock just wanted the attention of playing an anti-hero, not a cohesive story that actually fit the character
He Wasn’t even black adam, he was rock adam. He acted nothing like black adam. And black adam isn’t an anti hero. He’s a opportunistic leader for his country. That’s just one major flaw the movie got wrong.
You make such a great point. The whole issue is character development. MCU characters feel like family and they have their inside jokes. They are all deeply connected on a personal level in a slowly built up complex way. DC movies feel like watching a bunch of strangers who you don't care about because the writing never gave you a reason to care about them.
I'm not a long term reader of Black Adam, but it seems like in the stuff I did read they implied that he was the person granted the power but he went bad, a lot like Sinestro. I wonder if they have reworked his history a few times. The animated Superman vs. Black Adam seemed to say that as well. But Black Adam has seldom played hero, he's mostly a pretty nasty villain.
Don't forget No hint of Adrianna becoming Isis. No mention or tie in to Hawkman, Dr Fate and Black Adam to having origins in Egypt. NONE!!!! Many missed opportunities.
Veeeeeee! I've missed you so much. Between the beating, stalking, & identity theft & fleeing my home state to some sort of safety; I've also abandoned my old TH-cam channel. Now trying to find all my channels is a biznitch...how could I forget you Vee??? Your voice helps keep me sane. Luv U Bro! Keep up the good work!
Anyone else think this movie was pretty good and entertaining? I saw so many reviews calling it trash, but I enjoyed it way more than a lot of marvel films
We had a Black Adam movie a mere 4 months before a Shazam movie and they never even looked at each other. He's never been a good actor and I've never understood why so many people loved him so much.
Despite how bad this all is I still blame Snyder for starting this whole universe on such shakey and uneven ground. Rock killed it but let’s not act like it was doing so hot beforehand. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. The rock did us all a favor and pulled the plug when no one else would. Even if by accident.
It isn't Snyder's fault... it was WB/DC meddling. Zack had a clear, ten year plan... which would then be open for an easy "reset" (reboot) by way of a Flashpoint film. Just because a few high profile critics (as if they know shit about shit to begin with) decided to shit on a screening of an early, unfinished BvS, WB/DC panicked (as they do) and started gutting the movie. The differences between the theatrical cut and the "Ultimate Edition" make that much clear. Same with Josstice League / ZSJL...
@@thisisnotachannelit is Snyder's fault because he didn't understand or respect the DC characters. And it wasn't WB that forced him to do BvS, it was always part of his horrible "vision". Do some research, kid.
@@thisisnotachannelI disagree to an extent. The extended version of bvs did little to salvage the film. Maybe it made some plot holes disappear but the film itself still suffered from the over indulgent snyderisms that are seen in his other projects. And to that point, having a ten year plan for a universe doesn’t mean squat if that plan sucks. And from what I have seen, his three films he did get (including his cut on Justice League) I really can’t imagine more of that would have been remotely fun to watch. I am very ok with the studio taking a different direction. I just wish they had pulled the plug and started over sooner instead of floundering trying to salvage something not worth saving.
@@elishawilson5342no. I will say that I am all for a creator being allowed to finish his vision but in this case the vision was not well received by many critics and audiences alike. When the vision isn’t good why should he be allowed to waste more money? He got three chances (I understand I can’t quite include justice league as he did step down but seeing how the Snyder cut went I can’t imagine his original version pre wheadon would have been much better.) And after three chances I’d say it was more than fair for WB to say “enough of this, we’re going in a different direction.” Man I feel sick defending a company but alas… here I am….
Can't lie I think that the Rock could probably pull off playing as Darkseid, and have the DCCU revolve around him, Darkseid is basically the Thanos of DC so it would make sense for the CU to revolve around him.
It truly is pathetic to see how badly Warner Bros were just desperately trying to get something going with the DCEU. No one can deny the declining sales figures and quality of story, but when their backs were against the wall, the best WB and DC could think to do was entrust their future to a man with such a large ego as the Rock. Black Adam most certainly is the death of the DCEU for me. Fumble after fumble that lead to an average superhero movie, driven by someone reliably financially viable though heavily egocentric, overseen by a desperate company that just needed to make some kind of profit.
The Rock was not the right guy to shepherd the DCEU. Based on his interview with Kevin Hart, he only really cares about the marketability of his movies and not the storytelling. When you want to create a cinematic universe but you care more about marketability than storytelling, you’re doomed to fail.
Yeah, honestly, the fact that they made this movie just two-stroke this one man’s ego and to fill his hopes and dreams of being a specific character rather than focusing on quality. Is why we got ass.
Seems they go when it’s worth going like Barbie and Oppenheimer… Even Meg 2 made 142 million opening weekend. That movie could not be a more nonsensical farce but it made money.. Besides how long is the pandemic gonna be used as an excuse?
In all honesty these should have been in Shazam 2. Shazam calls on the help of Wonder Woman hawkman and dr fate to take down black Adam who is being my controlled by a servant of sabbac
Warner Brothers is to😢o concerned with competing with the Marvel movies that they don't seem to realize that the it's not just about having product. It's about having a GOOD product. This wasn't a bad movie but, they were trying too hard to make connections to where they want to go in the future. But, you can't get where you want to go if you don't pay attention to where you are actually going.
It could've worked if many factira had been done correctly. 1. It had been released years ago. 2. Lower budget. 3. The Rock didn't have the final say in it.
Great Vid! From the very first day I learned that the Rock would portray Black Adam I was hyped. The Rock as Black Adam? I was totally won over. However, since I heard the news regarding how much the Rock's ego was of a hindrance, the man has seriously gone down in my estimation. Especially if you know his humble beginnings, seems to 've forget it himself. Also, it's such a shame that so much potential was lost with Shazam and Black Adam. As you say V, Shazam and Black Adam have been enemies from the very beginning. There can't be a greater contrast, they're two complete opposites. Heck it's indeed even portrayed by way of there costumes!? Hence, playing these two characters off against each other (the silly slapstick goofyness vs the death serous menace) had potential. Figure Black Adam as a tremendously brutal and blood thirsty tyrant fueled by revenge and bent on world conquering. Willing to destroy everything and everyone standing in his way. Enter the goofy lighthearted inexperienced Shazam, a child that must pass off as an adult superhero, being in for the rude awakening of a lifetime, the mother of all reality checks. Man, I would've payed double to go and see a well executed movie with this premise and DC would 've had another 'milestone/first' on its hands since Joker, with yet again another superhero movie of another (the gory drama) kind. Such a movie could've even given the genre a second wind, and set the wind in DC's sails allowing it to again sail where Marvel had not yet before dared to sail. This whole Shazam debacle and the so called Superhero fatigue phenomenon got to me sooo much that it became the impetus for me to start making videos myself. Small side note, I'm just a hobbyist who only makes videos as an outlet, as anyone 'll no doubt will notice by way of the low quality. Hope to up this over time but it 'll all depend and where this road 'll lead me. I 'd sure would love to follow it further but it's really all up to wether the TH-cam public will let me, because it's hard to make it here without viewers 'ID th-cam.com/video/13g2xEho8mI/w-d-xo.html
I’ve been a DC/Marvel fan since Batman The Animated series, Superman The Animated Series, Hulk The Animated Series, Silver Surfer The Animated Series & X-Men The Animated Series in the early 90’s & I honestly do NOT remember Black Adam at all, he must’ve been in an episode or more that I didn’t get to catch on TV back in the day. I was most likely outside playing, man….being outside in the years of 1994-2014 were wild.😅 Vee Infuso you ALWAYS come through with the goods🏆 Great Video
Marvel had enough sense to introduce Thanos at the end of the first Avengers movie. The minute I saw him, I thought, “Infinity Gauntlet!” The anticipation was palpable going into “Infinity War.” It was a sure thing, and the box-office receipts prove it. I guess that’s my point: Why didn’t the Brahma Bull just play along? Why didn’t he just allow that Shazam movie to slowly reveal him as the big-bad? I don’t understand.
I always felt like the rock would've made for a perfect captain marvel, especially when he used to grow out his hair. I think he does a better job playing a hero and looks the part.
The audience needs to know why the antihero is changing. Look at Ryan Reynolds amazing portrayal of Deadpool. Hes most definitely an antihero. He murders people left and right, and sometimes in the most violent ways. But we know immediately that Deadpool does ugly things for the right reasons. And sometimes we are totally rooting for him. Thats because we were there to watch Wade go through h*ll. From what i can see in Black Adam, hes just not likeable. They shouldve ignored The Rocks demands, kicked him out of the project if need be. Black Adam shouldve remained THE ANTAGONIST for Shazam. They couldve still given Black Adam the heart of T2, misunderstood by everyone but the audience. But Shazam should be our ultimate hero.

2. Not setting up Black Adam properly because he followed the Venom route.
Case in point: a jocks didn't listen to the nerds on this one and failed on his own mistake.
Yeah, I love cavil’s Superman but I concur that cameo should have belonged to Shazam
It wouldn't have had the same effect, but it would've made more sense.
They could have both showed up "oh yeah, no one in this world can defeat me! / Oh yeah? How about not one, but not one but two blokes together?"
Adds more weight and severity to the situation for Supes to show up. You know it’s serious when the worlds most powerful being has to investigate. It helps the black Adam character. But in the end, there was no helping this shit 😂
@@FuntClaps101 World's most powerful being according to fanboys. Punchy punchy, Shazam and Adam are usually his equal + magic, and Martian Manhunter is literally superman + a bajilion other powers very handy in a fight. And then there is people like Alan Scott if he got really serious, the Flashes when they're not Ezra but half functional people, and Raven and Zatanna. Heck, Dr Fate should be more powerful than Adam. But you know, super is more recognized and the fanboys luv the overhype, no shit that is what DC delivers everytime, but I am not talking popularity or fanboy made up """""cannon""""" in their heads.
I guess this means Superman/Shazam: The Return of Black Adam is the closest we'll get to a proper Shazam sequel.

He did not play Black Adam. He fundamentally did not understand the character
@Gamer97704which in hindsight was a god move. The shazam brand especially with levi is damaged goods you don't want to be involved with
decent? can we stop taking iconic villains and turn them to these "morally ambiguous" antiheroes? And the rock's black adam is not even an antihero, he is just a hero who remind the audience every five minutes that "i am not a hero". The superhero version of "i'm not like other girls"
The Rock’s portrayal as Black Adam was pretty much just The Scorpion King with superpowers
The Rock isn't actually a good actor. Just very good at being The Rock.
And the rest of his movies are pretty much just The Scorpion King without powers
this is what happens when you give the actors too much power, actors should have a say in the story's they star in, but not to this extent!, i hate how much they ruined this movie because the rock wanted to be the star of the show, even tho the rock looked the part, but he simply wanted way too damn much, i hope the same doesn't happen to james gunn. what makes things worse is that the wrong is a pretty good actor .
@@alsims2007 i agree
He wanted to be DC's Deadpool. He could never bring himself to play a villain, especially one that would be defeated by the hero. I'd say he'd make a good Kilowag, but I imagine he wouldn't want to be in CGI or otherwise have his face obscured. He's like the Hulk Hogan of comic movies. Must be the star even if he's not the star.

I just don't get the appeal - all I see is "Tooth Fairy"
When I daydream about being a movie director, I tell myself I would NEVER hire any actor that has stipulations like "my character cannot be kicked while down/be seen passing out drunk/etc."
Tbf, I've never had the choice of "work with XXXXX make hundreds of thousands" vs "work with YYYYY make a GUARANTEED MINIMUM of TENS OF MILLIONS" so I'm sure it means jack shit to an actual director
But as a viewer, people who work with these actors have no artistic integrity, and as far as I'm concerned their names on projects= safe, tame trash meant to pacify children while babysitting.
There was a Black Adam tease in the first Shazam, which just wasn't properly followed up, because the Rock happened.
Numerous bad DC and Marvel films hurt business.
You’re right. It’s like having a Venom solo movie without Spider-Man… oh wait

Not how it went. The Rock was casted as Black Adam back in the early 2000s for an unmade Shazam movie. He pretty much pushed for this movie since then.
Also these days Black Adam is closer to an antihero. The movie is clearly based on the period where he joined the Justice Society.
I've got to say, having Black Adam behave like Drax was... an odd choice.
And not nearly as funny.
Wisdom of Solomon NotFound
It's funny that in a movie about Adam, I walked away thinking the best things in it were Hawkman and Dr. Fate. DJ talked up a big game, but Adam was a spectator who simply reacted to events around him, and for all about being an "antihero", he never once killed or hurt any good guys. He was reduced to another bland Rock action hero.
hes literally reaction youtuber but superhero. hahahahahhaah
Black Adam should be a prime example for Hollywood to stop giving Rock so much creative freedom. His ego is through the roof.
Aldis Hodge was great in this movie and he reminded me of Tchalla. I wish they actually recasted Tchalla and use Aldis to continue Chadwick’s work
The fact that people who didnt read comics will confuse why black adam is shazam main villain but shazam or adam never appeared in each other film, its a bad starting point because it would make sense for adam to build up his character as villain for shazam like venom against spiderman so black adam can change from villain to anti hero like venom does
venom only work cos of the actor as you can see its already in diminishing retuen the 2nd didnt do as good and that venom hasn't met spiderman nor will he

Black Addams dalliance with anti-heroism isn't all that recent, it started in 52 that came out in 2006, 17 years ago now, but I didn't find the film bad, just pedestrian, middle of the road and even a bit boring at times, and you're spot on, having a solo Black Adam vehicle with no Shazam is Like making a Venom film with no Spider-Man......oh wait.
deadpool has everyone like we need to make a anti hero
So damn unfortunate. He should have just let Black Adam be introduced through Shazam and THEN his own movie. And for what reason the Rock just HAD to be a hero instead of what Black Adam originally was I don't know. But again it was probably the ego. We would have loved him even more as an antihero
The mental gymnastics you went through to find something positive to say about the Rock's acting 😂😂😂😂😂
How are you going to elevate Black Adam to Superman's level when Shazam hasn't been at Superman's level since the 1940s
"They made this movie for The Rock." ...They made it for the people?
Again, I'll say it...
"Black Adam" didn't kill the DCEU.
Final nail in the coffin?
Perhaps... although "The Flash" could argue that point... but the DCEU was already fucked, as much as I hate to say that.

The Rock was horrible casting from the beginning. He can't do a middle eastern accent, refused to have the pointy ears and wear a wig.
He was never going to be Black Adam, he was always going to be Dwayne.
Rock shouldve campaigned to play Darkseid to have a universe around him
I'm glad you gave props to Aldis Hodge doing the best with a sparse part in a meh script.

For fun, I've actually been trying to edit in Black Adam into the first Shazam movie.
I did like Adriana pointing that JS and JL were nowhere when her people needed them, so there was that
I think you nailed it when you described the movie as a sketch as opposed to an intricate painting.
James Gunn ruined it when he said he wasn’t bringing back Henry as Superman, villain was dumb but a decent movie
The rock did say he is the " franchise viagra". I guess the pill reached its expirey date.
I don't care what anyone says about this film.
I genuinely enjoyed it. It was a fun watch.
I still loved the character of Black Adam and how they portrayed him in the film. The other heroes, not so much. Sarah Shahi always good too
Honestly completely agree!

The Bart Simpson kid really felt like a drag factor on this movie. He felt like a Poochie
He needed to be in SHAZAM
Dwayne was rumored to play Black Adam as far as back as 2002-03.
He Wasn’t even black adam, he was rock adam. He acted nothing like black adam. And black adam isn’t an anti hero. He’s a opportunistic leader for his country. That’s just one major flaw the movie got wrong.
Hey now, The Rock killed the DCEU once and for all. We should be thanking this man.
A TH-camr calling a pretty successful actor "embarrassing as a person", is extremely cringe inducing.
Rock was so desperate to be the face of DC that he ruined the entire franchise..
The Rock was too lazy to grow hair to actually look like Adam
I don't understand how he skips his arch nemesis Shazam and goes straight to Superman, lol. Adam is not a Superman villain.
If DC could just chill the fuq out & actually lay some groundwork for their universe first, they could build on it without it all collapsing.
The whole universe was directionless. Black Adam was just another movie in a long line of convoluted aimless world building.
Don't forget No hint of Adrianna becoming Isis.
No mention or tie in to Hawkman, Dr Fate and Black Adam to having origins in Egypt. NONE!!!!

You're wrong to blame Snyder it's all wb
He got three chances (I understand I can’t quite include justice league as he did step down but seeing how the Snyder cut went I can’t imagine his original version pre wheadon would have been much better.)
And after three chances I’d say it was more than fair for WB to say “enough of this, we’re going in a different direction.”
Man I feel sick defending a company but alas… here I am….
The DCEU died when Superman snapped Zod's neck.
You saw The Rock in the Fast and Furious movies? That's the same performance he gave in Black Adam.
Has anyone else noticed that when it is up to the Rock to carry a movie it doesn't do well?

I 'd sure would love to follow it further but it's really all up to wether the TH-cam public will let me, because it's hard to make it here without viewers 'ID

The Rock pulled a Hogan: Refused to put Zachary Levi over and then buried the DCU.
