I think the full flat grind makes the blade weak. If Essee changed this blade to saber grind it would be a hell of a blade! The new 3D handle of Essee is really awesome. Would you say that 1095 steel is about as tough as AUS8? Nice job as always Joe X.
I mean the knife clearly survived some serious abuse here, the flat grind gives better edge geometry and the knife is tough enough to survive any normal knife tasks as well as prying, chopping, etc. I don’t see why one would want an even thicker, worse slicing edge on a knife that can already stand up to so much abuse.
thanks Lilly, no AUS8 from your knives is much tougher, it did not broke at the iron rod, and the tip test before just 1 break, so AUS8 def stronger, the new "supersteel", i think i proved that a bit!
In theory 1095 is thougher, but also a question of heath treatment, geometry and grind.
I wouldn't say it's weak but your saber grind will always be stronger. The esee 5 is a good thick saber grind, but it's a different design. Probably much wider than a standard APO-1, not sure how it would compare to your new tracker

Send it back and they will give you a new knife! The Esee 6 has been the benchmark of mid weight survival knives for decades and one of my favorites. It is good to see that it stands up to the praise. I was amazed that the tip test stood up as long as it did cause the knife has a relatively thin tip.

Don’t do it. You purposely broke the knife. If everyone started purposely breaking their knives and having it replaced will result in 1 of 2 things. 1: Their awesome warranty will disappear or 2: The cost of their knives will go through the roof.

For the geometry and the thickness it did amazing I would say.. this is a nice slicy and pointy knife... it took the abuse like a champ!

Kydex sheaths have an issue with heat. If you leave one on the direct sunlight or in the car during hot summer days it may shrink! I've had heat related problems with an Extreme Edge Custom Kydex Sheath which is a top performer when it comes to kydex knife sheaths. I have maneged to destroy it very quickly when I tried to dry it out using a hairdryer. Trust me, you want polymer or plastic. Cold Steel secure-ex sheaths may be the most durable ones but they do dull the blades. Esee has pretty good sheaths in my opinion! Regarding different steels my go to so far are the 1095 by Esee or AUS8 and AUS8A when done properly. I've been carrying an American Lawman in AUS8A for the last 10 years or so. The Esee-4 in 1095 is my favourite knife so far. I have an F1X in laminated CoS which I believe is a top stainless steel knife but I do not use it since it's a gift from my father. Thanks for the video! Looking forward to seeing its smaller brother, the model 4.

It took more lateral stress than I expected. It's a good knife- not the absolute toughest, but pretty tough and it cuts well

Another awesome destruction test!!! The video was a great set with the cameras on ColdSteel shovels, jean claude van damme, etc. The other video when you drive the madmax car away at the end was fantastic. These tests pushing knives to destructive abuse limits and beyond are good to watch. I feel having the Esee6 showcased is excellent because this is an everyday, no scarcity, available knife (ie. not custom, exclusive, limited). I figured the overall test for Esee6 would go 'allrounder' pretty well... and I think it did in many respects regarding where/when/how it stacks up comparatively. Here at Alaska Raft Connection I get the incident calls to recover wrecked boats and crashed float-planes. Often this involves wet, cold, slippery, conditions. A combo selection of Esee Junglas plus Esee4 piggy-backed in venom green w/ orange G10 handles sit at the ready response/go-to wall of my Hangar. The Esee6 in my experience is the compromise between carrying these two. In my case I like the reach and accurate efficiency of Junglas, the handiness of the E4, as well as the loss prevention strategies of high-viz and piggy-backing small to large. I am most impressed with the E6 handle in your test!!! Stayed intact and no real issues!!!

I once battoned an esee 6 thru a peice of seasoned mesquite full of knots. The blade bent into the letter S. And came out straight as an arrow. The rowen heat treat of 1095 is the best in the business imo.

Anything this guy is doing….you walk into a field see a guy on a clear day wearing a gas mask stabbing the F@ck out of a car. Or maybe a rock or doing the splits stabbing a log….This is epic fun on you tube however you stumble across anything like this in real life it would be best to immediately turn around and get away as fast as possible.
Curiosity might get me stabbed that day haha. I gotta see what knife he's doing that to, I'm walking up to him for sure.

I think Esee knives are very nice, but rather overpriced. A lifetime warranty is a good thing, but in a real survival shtf shituation it is of no use to you anymore. And that is exactly why I really appreciate your videos, all your hard work, my friend !! Because when push comes to shove, this is exactly what you NEED to know. Keep it up Joe⚔️👍

Esee is a good knife company! I don't think you will hurt them easily in the woods. The warranty is great! Esee is a great knife company and they do stand behind their knives! My go to fixed blade, held up well. I've done some nasty things with mine.....Never stabbed or beaten a car, nor whacked a brick tho. Its a great knife with the best warranty I know of.

Best carbon steel on the market. My esee 6 has processed cords of wood , done exhaust work, and is still flawless. Its an epic knife.

Dont want to mess the test methodology but if you do the car door stabs with the blade reversed. edge towards you. It will wear on the edge more🎉

Most other knives with removable handle scales like this see their scales coming loose eventually but the ones on the ESEE 6 remained tight up until the end.
My question: what does ESEE make differently which makes their handle tougher? Just stronger screws?

Great test buddy! It surprised me how tough could be 1095 and full flat grind. In design, I like the TOPS Silent Hero more but this one seems to be tougher (I believe, it is slightly softer to 55-56HRC vs TOPS 56-58HRC). Have a great time. FM
