It's a funny thought that the 50th, while having lots of fan service, was mostly about the Time War, where the Christmas episode dealt with everything addressed in this trailer.
The thing I love the most about the Doctor is his long past. The fact we know him for more than 50 years and still we know pretty much nothing about him. He doesn't want to talk about his childhood, his parents, his children, his Gallifreyan friends, his entire past. Even his companions don't know what happened, not even the things that happened in the old series, he simply doesn't to talk about it. That's what I love the most!

The truth behind the name is that it’s a hybrid of a head canon I made and the name that was given in a comic(that’s probably no longer canon), the name was something like DAZ|€L} and I thought it look like rather similar to the word: Dalek, and thus my headcanon was born (the idea that Davours named the Daleks after the Doctor in act of pure spite) And the last name being VALEYARD, well I took inspiration from the novel: Lungborrow and came up with idea that the Doctor’s last name is not his great house name but his Family’s last name as he was a loomed timelord who previously brought dishonour to his great house. Or something like that, I think.

I doubt they ever will reveal his name because I doubt they’ll ever intend for the final episode to truly be final. Like the final episode of Classic who ending with the Doctor and Ace walking off into the distance, they’ll always leave room for more. Besides the show has never really cared about revealing the Doctor’s true name because it would add very little to the series.

Sometimes i forget how good the 50th will be, so i come check this video out and i'm pumped like hell and chills all over! You feel the same? yeah you're definitely a whovian.
Hearing scripts of past Doctor Who episodes and hearing the stories now they really don't live up to each other, I mean, here we hear "your real name is hidden, it burns in the stars, in the cascade of Medusa herself' and yet in the episodes we have these days it is just...bland in comparison, the stories back then had lines that seemed more poetic unlike these days, sure we have had some good lines but mostly they pale.

Jason Schuler What thequirkyone said, it was in The Fires of Pompeii episode of which RTD was the executive producer and James Moran wrote the script (seriously, get him back!) Moffat just doesn't seem to like poetic sounding stuff added to the scripts.
thequirkyone Oh yes, my bad. I was thinking it was from "The Rings of Akhaten" from some reason. Speaking of which, I'll tell you one thing Moffat does much better than RTD: write great speeches. The speeches in "The Rings of Akhaten" and "The Pandorica Opens" give me chills every time and (in my opinion) are much better than anything RTD ever wrote. Also, I think Moffat has written plenty of poetic sounding stuff. One of my favorite lines is, "fear makes companions of us all" (from "Listen"). And of course, this exchange in "Robot of Sherwood:" Doctor: "I'm not a hero." Robin Hood: "Well neither am I, but maybe if we both keep pretending to be heroes, others will be heroes in our name." But, to each his own, I guess.
If the BBC realised this as the actual 50th trailer, I'd be perfectly happy with that because this is my favourite fan video ever! It's simple but so effective!
this is FANTASTIC! MOLTO BENE! seriously it's very well made, you could use this to introduce a non whovian to doctor who, to be honest it is more suitable as a trailer to name/night/day/time of the doctor based on the theme of the trailer and what's being said.

Hearing scripts of past Doctor Who episodes and hearing the stories now they really don't live up to each other, I mean, here we hear "your real name is hidden, it burns in the stars, in the cascade of Medusa herself' and yet in the episodes we have these days it is just...bland in comparison, the stories back then had lines that seemed more poetic unlike these days, sure we have had some good lines but mostly they pale.

Moffat just doesn't seem to like poetic sounding stuff added to the scripts.
thequirkyone Oh yes, my bad. I was thinking it was from "The Rings of Akhaten" from some reason. Speaking of which, I'll tell you one thing Moffat does much better than RTD: write great speeches. The speeches in "The Rings of Akhaten" and "The Pandorica Opens" give me chills every time and (in my opinion) are much better than anything RTD ever wrote. Also, I think Moffat has written plenty of poetic sounding stuff. One of my favorite lines is, "fear makes companions of us all" (from "Listen"). And of course, this exchange in "Robot of Sherwood:"
Doctor: "I'm not a hero."
Robin Hood: "Well neither am I, but maybe if we both keep pretending to be heroes, others will be heroes in our name."
But, to each his own, I guess.
