I love how awful and dirty 9’s tardis is compared to the others. Like everyone else is doing complex math on their space computers and he’s hitting the thing with a rubber mallet to make it fly straight. Such a great addition to his character
After seeing all the show, 10 and 12 ended up my favorites. But watching Christophers series was what got me into it initially, and I think he's right up there with the best of them.
I love how the second doctor is the one that immediately gets it. I don't know why, it just seems perfectly in character that 2 and 11 would be on the same wavelength.
So fun fact the original scene where 2 says that is actually from the 1st time there was a Crossover between the Doctors Regenerations It was during 3s run and he was battling a Time lord named Omega During 3s run the doctors TARDIS was Broken and the timelords pretty much banished him to earth (that's how he got a job at Unit as referenced in 10s run during the revival) In any case the timelords plucked 2 from his timelstream and Sent him to 3 to fight Omega and when he appeared Brigadier was Trying to explain to 2 what had happened and Trying to make sense of why 2 was there and his response was "There's no point in explaining it to me as far as I'm concerned it hasn't happened yet"
Hahaha got to love Eccleston roughness. That made his personality. I'm from West Yorkshire so am close to Jodie and Eccleston. Being northern 😂 and Eccleston was absolutely fantastic. Such a rough doctor but so much love and personality. Especially for one season. And to be the revival. And after the time war... Just.. Fantastic. Also. Obviously. Billie Piper. I've watched every classic episode and every modern episode soo many times. And Billie is still my all time favorite. I cant shake it. And honestly I can barely watch the episodes with her in. It's far to upsetting to me, also because of some personal reasons that.. Some things that happen to relate to her. Her time period. Her accent. Her look, and someone I loved and is now lost. Went to school with her and was friends with her. So it's like. Really hard to watch them episodes. Even if they are sooo dear.

I always imagine him now to be the 'PTSD'-Doctor who has to now process all the horrors of the time war before he can be lighthearted and aloof again .... which happened while travelling with Rose, peaking when he regenerated into the 10th doctor
I mean that's standard behavior, he really beat the crap out of that old thing. Granted now that i think about it that makes sense doesn't it. That tardis had just gone through the time war, of course its gonna be acting up in weird ways. Just think of all the things that can go wrong with a tank after it faces the abuses of war for awhile.
"And for my next trick: everybody lives!" The sheer joy of Eccleston's delivery of that line grabs me by the heart every time. We might never know why he really left DW so soon, but he deserved better.
The things I've read, interviews with him, lead me to believe that he had serious problems with how some of those in power there were treating some of the people that worked there. Whether it was racism or classism or whatever other ism that people use to treat "the other" (not "The Other" from Who legends, just "the other" as in another group than yours) with hatred, apparently it was happening there.
@@MaryAnnNytowl I haven't heard much of that, but I do know Ecclestone was suffering from severe mental health issues at the time, he probably couldn't cope with the pressure. It's great to see him doing work for Big Finish though, we didn't have anywhere near enough time with him as the Doctor.

They could have even played down the modern actors talking so damn much... that would have helped. And even though I find this two parter annoying in many ways I'm still disappointed in Eccleston. Whatever his circumstances his absence is just as short sighted as Tom's was.

8 is such an under appreciated Doctor, I love the sheer joy that McGann brings to 8 and I wish he got more time to shine on screen. The Big Finish audio dramas really help a lot in that regard.

I believe and hope that the new series will actually give Jodie's Doctor a personality. Even more, a guest appearance of another Doctor will surely do the trick. I don't want to focus on recent rumours regarding Chibnall being fired and a new Doctor cast.
and if you add in the twist in 'the timeless child' it kinda adds to all the tardis's showing up, since no idea how many the doctor regenerations had/will have. almost like they knew something like this could happen.

Just like how this scene uses future Doctors to save the Gallifrey, I love how even in the original episode, they used the track "Shepard's Boy" well before the events of "Heaven Sent." It's such an amazing score that builds up to an incredible moment, be it saving an entire planet from destruction or punching through an unbreakable wall after 4.5 billion years.

Totally agree. Even the tiniest details have been thought of. Did you notice how Eleven says: "We're ready," instead of "Gentlemen, we're ready." I thought that was clever because the 'gentlemen' wouldn't work with Jodie's inclusion.
I like that it was the Second Doctor who understood 11's plan, considering that Troughton was the most influential in how he laid the groundwork for the Doctors that followed after Pertwee. In fact the Smith's Eleventh Doctor takes influence from other Doctors including Troughton's.
It also makes sense canonically seeing as the 2nd doctor first saw the corruption of the time lords, the true power of the daleks etc... While the first was still just running away going on small adventures.. In my mind he was the one to start preparing
9 took the most influence from 8 and 3. 10 was 4 and 5. 11 is 2 and 7, 12 is 1 and 3, and as as far as I'm concerned 13 is just a mediocre amalgamation of all of them

This is a thing of genuine beauty. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a "fan cut" or added scene that really made a story better, until this one. Without exaggeration, this is one of the best things I've ever seen a fan add to a show. Absolutely magnificent. Thanks for sharing it.

Matt Smith wasn't a Whovian before he got the part (he was born during the 'dark age') but after he was cast he really got into it (unlike Jodie, for example, who was told not to by Chibnall) and went back and watched the classic Doctor Who. He said he absolutely loved the Second Doctor and this inspired his outfit. I didn't know he specifically liked Tom Baker though, that's really interesting!

The only problem I have with this is that it somehow implies that the Daleks were not ALREADY firing everything they had at their enemies. And the only way I could see that would be if it would also kill them as well. Like Daleks would be melting inside their own ships but the firepower would increase. But if I had to guess, I'd say that would have started when the second TARDIS showed up. By the time they go past thirteen, the Daleks are just dying of fright.

I totally agree. And knowing the original context of the line makes the scene even better and means that material of all three televised 50th anniversary stories is used.
I love the idea that at some point every Doctor has come to Gallifrey, like its just a thing that they know they have to do, and off screen between episodes they will hop over there for a bit.

This made me cry with the sheer brilliance, and the joy of triumph... but also the sadness of knowing that he was locking Gallifrey away. Bittersweet, joyous, poignant, sanguine, and one of the best pieces of direction and editing on Doctor Who in many a year.
Whenever a Doctor meets a future version of himself he never remembers it as hes returned to the time where it hadn't happened yet. Essentially altering time in the Doctor Who universe is of the creating a parallel universe variety (similar to Avengers Endgame).
Watcher Zero it’s called consciously interacting with your own timestream. When the Doctors interact with each other it causes a large enough paradox in their own timestream so that the streams become out of sync, draining their memory of it. Some people even speculate it can drain time energy from forming for a while (so that for example weeping angels can’t feed of a timezap on a person who has done it recently). That could be a way to gain a personal shield against the Angels if you know that they are coming, if it is true!
With any luck, Whittaker and Chibnall will leave after this series and everyone will regard her as the new War Doctor. The one all the others disregard and then the 13 Doctor can take over from her, hell call her the Care Worker and let's all forget about the horrors of series 11 and 12.

I've watched this video so many times, and it never gets old. It is genuinely my favourite video because it's just everything I love about Doctor Who. The editing is impeccable and I get chills every time. Absolutely fantastic.
Don't forget how the daleks view The Doctor. As far as they're concerned, he's the devil, incarnate! Just as they're about to destroy their most hated enemies, the Time Lords, no less than over three hundred versions of The Doctor appear to make a house call. It's so heart warming seeing Nine helping to save Gallifrey, for two reasons. He was the first post-war Doctor and the most freshly scarred by it. Imagine how much it must mean to him to save his people. But he's also the Doctor who saved the franchise itself vanishing into obscurity and brought it back for younger generations of fans, myself included. Really fitting to see him saving Gallifrey. As much as I like John Hurt's War Doctor, it still pains me that Christopher didn't want to come back just once more for this episode.

The things I've read, interviews with him, lead me to believe that he had serious problems with how some of those in power there were treating some of the people that worked there. Whether it was racism or classism or whatever other ism that people use to treat "the other" (not "The Other" from Who legends, just "the other" as in another group than yours) with hatred, apparently it was happening there.

@@MaryAnnNytowl I haven't heard much of that, but I do know Ecclestone was suffering from severe mental health issues at the time, he probably couldn't cope with the pressure. It's great to see him doing work for Big Finish though, we didn't have anywhere near enough time with him as the Doctor.

Just like how this scene uses future Doctors to save the Gallifrey, I love how even in the original episode, they used the track "Shepard's Boy" well before the events of "Heaven Sent."
It's such an amazing score that builds up to an incredible moment, be it saving an entire planet from destruction or punching through an unbreakable wall after 4.5 billion years.
With particular additions, it makes sense: they both show the passing of a second in eternity
The 9th's "and for my next trick...EVERYBODY LIVES" and the very end with the War Doctor's "Gallifrey Stands!" got to me. I started to cry. Well done!

I like that it was the Second Doctor who understood 11's plan, considering that Troughton was the most influential in how he laid the groundwork for the Doctors that followed after Pertwee. In fact the Smith's Eleventh Doctor takes influence from other Doctors including Troughton's.
It also makes sense canonically seeing as the 2nd doctor first saw the corruption of the time lords, the true power of the daleks etc... While the first was still just running away going on small adventures.. In my mind he was the one to start preparing

The only problem I have with this is that it somehow implies that the Daleks were not ALREADY firing everything they had at their enemies. And the only way I could see that would be if it would also kill them as well. Like Daleks would be melting inside their own ships but the firepower would increase.
But if I had to guess, I'd say that would have started when the second TARDIS showed up.
By the time they go past thirteen, the Daleks are just dying of fright.
@@Nanorobotic i think what they meant when they said they were increasing their fire power is they literally throwing everything they got like landing more daleks onto the planet and enchancing their state of mind which makes them reload faster
daleks shoot their weapon when they get stress which is the reason they Yell Exterminate , that's how they reload

This made me cry with the sheer brilliance, and the joy of triumph... but also the sadness of knowing that he was locking Gallifrey away. Bittersweet, joyous, poignant, sanguine, and one of the best pieces of direction and editing on Doctor Who in many a year.
After my 4th viewing I realized the ending goes backwards in order through all the Doctor's faces. Well done. Well done.

The time streams were out of sync. They couldn't retain it.
Whenever a Doctor meets a future version of himself he never remembers it as hes returned to the time where it hadn't happened yet. Essentially altering time in the Doctor Who universe is of the creating a parallel universe variety (similar to Avengers Endgame).
Essentially meaning don't apply logic to something that experiments with the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey fabric of the universe
Watcher Zero it’s called consciously interacting with your own timestream. When the Doctors interact with each other it causes a large enough paradox in their own timestream so that the streams become out of sync, draining their memory of it. Some people even speculate it can drain time energy from forming for a while (so that for example weeping angels can’t feed of a timezap on a person who has done it recently). That could be a way to gain a personal shield against the Angels if you know that they are coming, if it is true!

Sadly due to the treatment Eccleston received while filming his season he refused to come back. It's also the reason he only has one season while the rest of New Who has had 3

It's so heart warming seeing Nine helping to save Gallifrey, for two reasons.
He was the first post-war Doctor and the most freshly scarred by it. Imagine how much it must mean to him to save his people.
But he's also the Doctor who saved the franchise itself vanishing into obscurity and brought it back for younger generations of fans, myself included. Really fitting to see him saving Gallifrey.
As much as I like John Hurt's War Doctor, it still pains me that Christopher didn't want to come back just once more for this episode.
