@Ziv Zulander Don't get me won't, Steve and Co. deserve every penny, but the percentage ratio is way too high, and it is out of line with charges for shipping from other companies. It's just too much.
GN respects us enough to know that their benchmarks and build analysis speaks for itself, and contains the information we need to make an informed buying decision.
Bought this case a year ago in white based off this review and couldn’t be any more happier… this case has been amazing. Airflow is ridiculous and my pc is always running cool
Same here, using it from a year and i love it. Easy to maintain and clean, great thermals as well especially when paired with x3 140mm fans in front and 1 on the back.
Definitely considering getting this one as well. With the vertical mount section, it's seems like great clearance for the 4090 power cable tension concern.
"Overall the P500A we would say is a good case. It is in terms of thermals one of the best cases, in terms of build quality uhh, it has advanced vs phanteks' previous cases especially the very old tooling for the p400. So it's, it's good if you want to buy it then cool we don't really have any problems with that." That's as much of an endorsement as you'll ever get from Gamers Nexus, if I worked at Phanteks I would frame that.
Too many comments to scan through to see if it has been said or not, but I decided to buy this case, and now that I have one, in order to front mount the (3) 140mm fans, you have to trim the lower portion of the front panel. Or, like most of the images on the website for this case, you can use (3) 120mm fans as the manufaturer did to make it look prettier for marketing. I will give them bennefit of the doubt and assume they originally offered the case with (3) 120s, and later decided to bump to the 140s. Assuming the high amount of airflow isnt needed and perhaps not going crazy with overclocking, dropping to the 120s in the front looks much cleaner and the fans easily mount up with plenty of room to go under the front cover. You could also go for a decent 360 AIO with front mount push fan configuration, again, fans on front of case, not inside.
I bought this case because of GN, and I have 0 regrets. One of the best cases I've ever had, way better than some of the $200+ cases I've purchased. It's also got some of the best/easiest cable management and gives lots of room up top. The number 1 thing I hated about my Cougar Panzer Evo RGB is that yes it's a sexy case, but it literally offers no room up top for radiators unless you want to mount your fans outside of the radiator.
Wish they would do those cases again, I have one right now for my Ryzen 3600 has 2x 280mm side fans with manual control in the case. I want a new case but I know I'll also need to buy a new cooler for the CPU as I'll be losing a lot of air flow
My first PC build from 2008-ish had a huge 200mm fan in the side, and a 120mm in the front near the bottom. There were a couple of dials in the front to control the fan speed. It was great. My new rig has the tempered glass side (CoolerMaster H500) and it's pretty...but I would still be down with a 200mm fan pointing at my GPU.
The first Phanteks case I build in was P400. I was super pleasantly surprised by the attention detail, which only people who put the PC together appreciate. Also the design is superb. With each new you can see the improvement.
I still use the screw container from my 5 year old Phanteks Enthoo Pro! It seems silly, but it's one of the few genuinely useful case accessories I've had lol
About two months ago I bought the Phanteks P600S. I absolutely love it, easy installation, great quality chassis, feature rich etc... The P500A looks very simulair for a lot less. Ps. When gaming I run it with the silence covers off for airflow.
19:51 This is good, I will just have to turn down the fan speed. I was concerned about the noise so I was thinking about getting a quiet case instead of a airflow case but you convinced me to go with air flow over a quiet case.
@@biscuit715 Until you have to deal with noises that are not coming from the fans. It's nice that a cheaper case with higher airflow can achieve the same noise level as a more expensive one with more fans/fans running at higher RPM, *but* lowering your fan RPM won't do squat when your GPU/PSU starts whining like a husky when you ignore it for 5 minutes.
The Phanteks P600, which is one step above this, comes with removable covers and sound proofing which allow you to switch between airflow and quiet on the fly (although the airflow is still pretty good with it closed up, as it comes with 3 140mm fans stock (2 in, 1 out) and is roomy enough that no components will ever be starved of air). Apart from that it is very similar to this one, and probably shares almost all components. I have it and it is the best case I've ever used.
Bought the non RGB version last week and i love it. There so much space inside and the cable management is extremely easy. Arctic freezer 2 360 also fits perfectly on top. Replaced the stock fans with Arctic R14 1700rpm (3 140mm infront, 1 140mm exhaust) which are way better in terms of noise and airflow. CPU temps during stress tests were around 71C (5900X) and in gaming my temps are around 60C, both CPU and GPU (RTX 2070S) at 26C room temp.
@@Sleepy-or3lx I've read elsewhere that the screw holes don't align properly on the 360mm radiator. It's because of that I bought the Arctic LF2 280mm instead, and quite honestly that one's a perfect fit. It looks like anything longer would stretch beyond the opening for the vent & have some of its airflow blocked off.
it irks me to see fan mounting though the front of the case considering at least 90% of the cases out there can have the fans on the outside of the case and still clear the bezel (yay I got 3 giant 140mm ARGB fans, and some angle iron cutting 1/4 off each side, winner!)
Yea the fan mounting visible through the front was not good, also no vent holes above psu cover, and those strange looking phanteks plastic shield slider to cover all the cords
My mind was actually blown when you removed that top panel. I actually kinda yelled. Wow! I love this. Thanks for the content, you guys! Always my go to for IN DEPTH commentary.
I now have 2 of these cases. I love building in them and I love the airflow and mounting options. I was able to stick a 420mm Arctic Freezer II rad in the front behind front fans and now my i9 12900k is ice cold even under load. Under load it's hitting like 55C.
Binging your videos trying to find a good case, and really appreciating your down-to-earth "Everyman's approach" to PC building. It's been really helping me steer clear of cases that may otherwise require or be priced for intense custom water cooling, and be guided to realistic cases for my purposes. Thanks mate.
This is without question the best case I have seen since the Deepcool Genome 2. I think you are very unfair when it comes to the front fans. Due to Bernoulli's principle, the velocity of the air flow would increase if the fans were closer to the mesh, resulting in pressure variations and a reduction in either fan efficiency or motor stress. Where possible, fans should be an inch or two away from mesh. To me, this design looks perfect. Your review was EXCELLENT 10/10 I will be getting one of these before they sell out. What an exceptional case design. I bet it is possible to fit numerous graphics cards and to have two systems. A lot of people might consider one to manage bitcoin mining, and there are circumstances where CCTV systems, VHF, home entertainment, and remote storage NAS systems could be added and allowed to run unhindered. It is the best case I ever thought was possible. What a brilliant company. WELL DONE :-)
I got the RGB one for the controller and led strip on the shroud. Such an awesome case: 3950x overclocked to 5ghz 16 cores + 1080 TI 11gb with board mod and 2 cables from psu in stress testing barely saw 55 degrees C, usual under load is 40 to 50 degrees C!! I put in 2 360 rads with push/pull configuration: 6 120s fans ek vadar rgb 2200rpm on front (3 120s fit snug between case and front panel! even circle cut out for easy cable management ), 120 rear exhaust (couldn't fit tubes with the 140) and 3 top exhausts on 2nd rad. The removable top panel is amazing for installing rads! (2x 360s is a bit of a tight squeeze but very doable! No dremel/drill needed). Things to note: with a top mounted rad it's impossible for a 140 exhaust rad, depending on motherboard and GPU set up you can also have a 120 tho. Also the case doesnt support 300mm pump/res combo's unless top or front mounted. I took a dremel to mine and got some sheet metal for custom bracket to fit it inside the front next to my fans. I didn't want to fan bracket mount it as it would block a lot of the airflow plus make hard tubing a nightmare!
Looks like a winning case, very interesting. Thanks for all the hard work put into each of these videos. Nobody does reviews with such brutal honesty. As an RV02 owner it is cool to see you still using it as a benchmark standard. I originally got it (2012-ish) for the rotated MB design with the notion that heat rises and all that. Mine runs quieter than stock because i'm using Air Penetrator 181 fans (PWM) with a fan controller. It has been through several MBs. I always look for new cases and some day i will change this one out for something new (maybe keep it for a NAS), but for now it is still my daily driver.
Great case. There are a million little things that you only notice when you go to put a system together and realize how much easier it is because of them--like the different sized pins on the glass door. They put a lot of thought into this and it shows. Good cable management and lots of places to sneak a cable around--I only wish that there was a larger cutout above the power supply. Perfectly quiet and everything runs cool, but I'm not running a super high powered system: Ryzen 7 7700x CPU, GTX 3060 GPU, DDR5 6600 RAM, ASRock X670E chipset mobo, WD black SSD, and two WD Red Pro 18 TB HDD's.
I built my Ryzen 3800X system back in March of 2020 using the Phanteks Evolve X and I would give it a 90/100, its a really nice case, but I got it for $179.99 and not the usual asking for $199.99, which still makes it the single most expensive case I have ever personally used in my own build (client builds have gone up to $400 cases before). There are a few things with the Evolve X that I knocked points off for.. 1. the SSD mounts, you had to buy them separately and I am glad I did, because the supplied ones on the wire covers in the back are not going to fit with the really tight clearances that the wires end up making. 2. Cable slider shrouds, like Steve said, they are really necessary and could be better thought out and cost saving, they actually kind of hinder certain things. They are not useless or bad per-say, they are functional, but there is likely a better and cheaper way to do it that allows for high build quality at the same time.
Been waiting to hear more about this case for a while. Glad to know it'll be on the market soon I've been contemplating a new-build, and it looks like all the hardware is going to come available within the next few months so I can finally do it.
I'm happy for Phanteks teaching a lesson to all the top manufacturers. I would've bought the P400A, the only reason I got the 220T is that it was abobut 30$ cheaper in my country.
My go-to case is a Phantek with "front" panel connectors on the "Front Panel"! This allows less dust to "settle into the connectors. Wish more case manufaturers would think about this. Also, easier access with desk top placement.
Personally, I'd like to see something on the optimal setup for a case with "good enough" thermals where you can't hear the fans at all in a silent room. Any fan noise at all really annoys me unless I have music blasting loud enough to annoy the neighbors.
I have it! Its awesome coupled with a noctua dh15. Cpu temps 28 at ambient and never higher than 45 under full load. Not see the GPU above 65 even after hours of 100% usage. I have a 2080 super for reference.
@@castlebear199 I concur with the above poster. I have the P600S with an i9 10850k and it idles at 28c. I do have an CoolerMaster 240ml AIO and just using the stock fans. I have a 2070 super that is using the built on riser mount for the GPU keeping it farther away from the CPU. Just bought one more to add 3 140mm fans to the front for a little increased airflow...because why not. I
Thermals are important to me. Based on Steve's review I have a P500A sitting in the dining room ready for a transplant of my existing stuff. Also 4 Noctua 140mm fans, an Arctic Liquid Cool II 360mm AIO and a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Master MB. Everything else coming from my current system.
I bought this case on the back of this review, and I love it! I never expected the RGB to look as cool as it does (though the darn case sits below my desk, so I can barely ever see it, lol), but the real star is the airflow. With my Noctua NH-U12A, there's no meaningful difference between temps with the glass side panel on or off. Goes to show that the airflow through the case is pretty much as good it could possibly be. I also bought a GN 10th Anniversary shirt, and I love it! Feels great to wear.
I was waiting on this case when it was being shown off on press-shows back around November, but then settled with the P600s. It literally does look like... well a nicer p600s since I usually keep the front and top panel-plate off. Glad you enjoy the case~
@Swooz So far after a month, with a very sheddy cat, I haven't noticed any meaningful dust buildup inside the case. I read somewhere that cases with high airflow tend not to build up nearly as much dust, because the dust that gets inside just blows right back out before it has a chance to settle on anything. I do, however, notice fur building up on the perforated front panel, so it's definitely catching a decent amount of that junk before it ever gets inside. It gets illuminated quite well by the RGB fans, so I can see it easily. There's a noticeable amount on the panel every other day or so, and I just wipe it off with my hand to get rid of it. Oh, and last night I did notice significant buildup on the power supply intake filter, on the bottom of the case. I need to set up a monthly reminder to clean that out.
Bought the black RGB version yesterday. I'm glad we won't have any problems over the purchase, I wouldn't like living my life and having to watch my back constantly.
@@kevinpaulmedina8350 Still accumulating other parts, so I haven't built it yet. Bought the case first, since it was on sale. Otherwise it looks good and feels solid.
@@kevinpaulmedina8350 Noise of the fans was actually lower than my old case (Fractal Define S with 4x cheapo Arctic fans), even when I raised the new build up from the floor to head level. I mean you can still hear the fans, but personally I've never been that bothered about fan noise as I wear headphones most of he time. As a bonus the case is really easy and convenient to clean.
Hmm, almost perfect case for my brother to move to, but the fans absolutely HAVE to be positioned in the front, so I wish Phanteks would fix that, as his GPU is extremely long (Zotac 2080 AMP! Extreme) and would conflict with the fans. Then again, he would have to swap fans to 120's to mount his radiator in the front, and I guess his Fractal Design S36 could be mounted to the top, but would limit him to only 1 system, which he intends to build a plex server ITX build as well. Also, only 2 drive bays is a killer for the same reason as the last issue, he needs at least 5 drive bays, plus a SSD mount to replace his current case. He was going to buy a 011 Dynamic XL, but overall lack of availability has made him give up on it
I’ve had my P-400A for about a year, and when adding 3 extra 120mm CoolerMaster halo RGB fans in the front, I did notice it was a very tight fit, but I managed to close the front cover my lifting the case slightly and hooking the panel beneath the bottom fan and then snapping it shut. Snug, but it DOES fit! Just make sure to mount the bottom fan before the rad or you won’t be able to get a screwdriver in to secure it. My only caveat for the P-400A is that there isn’t clearance for a 240mm AIO liquid cooler rad with fans at the top of the case. At least not with a TUF X570-plus MB. I may end up drilling extra holes just to mount it off-centre, because my stock AIO died when positioned at the front, tubes up. But even doing that, I’d have to remove the rad to access the RAM. Ah well. Otherwise I love my case. Amazing airflow, premium feel and gorgeous aesthetics. RGB looks great behind the dark glass, which isn’t too dark so you can see all your components clearly. If I even need to get another case, Phanteks will be my first choice. 5 stars!
@@eddtru evolv x is not better than p600s. It does not have the same great airflow ( even if it's not bad) and the retro ssd mount can be dangerous for sata cables
Good review as always but you guys didn't mention the GPU anti-sag bracket accessory that comes with the case! I had to learn about this from Hardware Canucks' review. That's definitely one of the coolest accessories I've seen and something to help sell this case more. Also the power shroud has a little sliding door on top for the GPU cables to route through which is also cool. These are nice touches that should be mentioned in the video.
Anyone wanting the 140m fans outside the chassis, just cut the front panel at the top and bottom. It has some unnecessary plastic u can cut away and u can end up fitting the 3 140m fans easily. I did it with some pliers and a wrench to help break off the plastic.
Thanks for the review Gamer Nexus. When I saw this case I had a feeling it was gonna be a good one. Alrighty then, another case on my list to get. If only this was out a little earlier, I ended up with a Meshify C recently. I got ML120 with it so the Meshify C is doing good, it’s so quiet.
Came for the P500a review, was sold based on the video and in depth article. Got hooked on other GN videos. Found the AMD mountain bike review. No regrets 🤣 awesome work GN.
I have the p400a non-rgb with aftermarket fans to fill all the positions and i love it, but I wish this existed when I did my build, I would have gotten it, and I would have gotten the RGB version because of the extra RGB strips. The hinged door and slightly elevated visual style, and overall quality really sells it. The fact that it's bigger is also a plus for me, not because I need the space, but just because I'm old school and like big things. Also for the extra fans, I got a 4 pack of 120mm fans on newegg, i think corsair, for like 18 bucks or something. pretty quiet and pretty good airflow, you really can't beat that deal for solidly decent quality fans. I took out the stock fan and used all 4 from the pack just for consistency.
I had settled on this case even before this review because of specs comparisons and so on, but this review is what made me really happy about ordering it
This will be the case I buy. My needs are simple: Mesh style front, 280mm radiator support on top with clearance for tall RAM. Literally my only two requirements. The rest is just gravy.
Is it weird that I still get excited about watching GN case reviews even though I am no longer in the market for one (recently completely my once-a-decade computer upgrade-went with the P400A and very happy).
Great review, GN. I am happy to see how great this case performs in the standardized fan and noise-normalized tests. I will probably pick up the non-rgb version as I already have two NF-A14 I can use for front intake. Will get third NF-A14 to fully exploit the potential of the case,. Really happy that the P500 supports 3x140 in the front.
thtas exactllt what im tinking. i also already have two 140mm phanteks Sk D-RGB fans and two rajintek slim/25mm(fans for exaust and bottom of the case. so yes i will buy this case to see if i can get my rtx2060super bellow the 70ºC when gaming the new titles like deathloop and forza 5 .
I'm glad they're still doing dual system cases but I'm also glad I bought the MiniXL before it went out of production. The Evolv and P style of mounting the secondary motherboard to the roof of the case is just terrible for thermals. The Luxe 2 or whatever it's called would be cool, but it doesn't have 5.25" bays - which if there is ONE remaining use case for 5.25" bays it's PRECISELY dual system cases so you can put in hotswap HDD/ SSD cages and not rely on ethernet transfer speeds. Hotswap is so important to me I won't look at a dual system case without 5.25" bays.
You got the pace and the intonation just right. Some of your benchmark videos try and cram too many facts in at the cost of losing clarity. They are hard to keep up with. Especially at 3am. I laughed at the "Four hands and a chin." I would like to see some military grade or business cases which have anti-theft and water/dust resistance features. Maybe not something you would enjoy but I value Kensington Slots, Security Screws and drop tests to RGB.
@@LFiers I ended up going with the Lancool Mesh II. I was interested in the first Lancool II so I was ready to jump on the mesh version. Very similar performance to the p500A it looks like so can't go wrong with either. Though based on just looks id get the O11 LOL.
Phew. Recently bought the P400A and I thought I was missing out on a lot of upgrades, but it seems like the only advantages the P500A has is USB-C and more space inside of the case (which ends up giving better cooling performance by a couple of degrees). I could probably fit the lian li USB C addon with some case modding if I needed it. Thanks for the great review!
Cable management plus , rear panel improvement, hard drive cages, tempered glass hinges, minimal blood sacrifices while building, Noise normalised - whoa. I've only just bought my P400A Digital, but found the cable management a hassle particularly with corsair's module PSU cables. At least I will be able to save up for this one well ahead of when it becomes available locally. I can live with the cable covers as I don't mind removing one if needed. Guess I'm going to have a second Phanteks case.
I've just bought this white rgb version and it blows everything else out of the water. Its just so easy to build in. The rgb looks brilliant and it's like a fridge at keeping everything cool. A case that's very near perfect 👌
@@rokdovecar5275 my review on this case now is very different it's a dust magnet. Just a few weeks and the inside of the case was full of fine dust. It's a nightmare to keep clean. I've switched back to my meshify compact. I should have bought the P600s as that has full dust filters everywhere. My P500a has now been sold
I have the older P600S and it's a great case. The only thing I don't like is the sliding cable covers. I would have preferred a long gromit or two long gromits. Particularly along the motherboard connector so it does not end up offset on some motherboards.
Two things: 1) the RGB version does not have a reset button and there's no way to repurpose any of its two RGB buttons as such 2) accessing the PSU is somewhat cumbersome. Other than that, it does support a 280mm fan + radiator block at the top which is nice.
Gamers Nexus is the best, BUT, what all of us who really care about case temps want to really see is the Case decked out with fans. I want to see the best case scenario. All front fan slots occupied, test the case with exhaust fans, test with fans in all the possible slots. Fans are dirt cheap and alot of us are gonna reuse the fans we already have. So many cases look bad or mediocre on these results but when configured properly, are exceptional while some mediocre cases appear to perform Better than they do just because they have 4 cheap fans pre-installed.
I honestly would already own this case if those dang fans weren't covered up by the mounting bracket.. At this price point I honestly can't believe they didn't fix that
I know your video is 3 years old but phanteck already discontinued or upgraded this case to Phanteks Eclipse G500A DRGB,, for 129.99 on new egg,, i want a good case to side mount my new pny rtx 4080 super video card and 360mm water cooler my i9 13900k cpu , and Z790 motherborad ,, evga titainium 850 watt power supply which it might need a bigger power supply ,, theres so many atx cases to choose from ,,,, want a case big enough for parts with good air flow,, i always love watching your you tube video ,, learning so much about computers ,,,
I was hoping this would be released sooner as I wanted to buy it (with a good review) I ended up opting for the Be Quiet 500DX. Very solid case for the money and not far off from the P500A. Thanks for the solid review Steve and Team.
So far the best case I have owned is the Corsair Obsidian Series 900D, it's quiet, would be more so at high CPU load if I bought a different closed loop water cooler. Once I swapped some positions of the CPU radiator it really cooled off the components, having the radiator directly above the motherboard as opposed to more forward caused a significant difference in thermals. It is the easiest case to work in so far.
I was about to buy this until I saw your review. The fans not being able to be put on the outside of the front of the case was what made me decide against it.
Hi Steve! I love your work and you make some the most inclusive reviews on the platform. I'm proud to be a patreon backer! Just a bit of constrictive criticism. Before I say this, I understand that, I get it, you literally say in your intro "support our long form investigative reporting". You have such great content and want to be so exceptionally clear on things that you tend to repeat a lot of your previous statements. I would love to see more people viewing your content so perhaps a shorter video by keeping the information 1:1 might be helpful. New people might not want to watch a long video but that would still get all of the information you're trying to convey and still be a shorter video. It's more noticeable when delivering more data driven content. You're product reviews don't usually have this repetition. Love you guys, keep it up!! Just offering my 2 cents :)
@juurus @Reaper000 @bob A Alright boys merry early Christmas, they're on stock www.overclockers.co.uk/search?sSearch=phanteks+p500a Edit: You can buy them now but the restock won't be until the 20th of this month so if i were you i would just buy the case now and get it out the way before it's out of stock again.
Agree that those cable covers are terrible after having hands on experience with it. I really hope they find another solution (nothing was wrong with grommets and a angled sheet of metal to have equally as much space for cable management). Thanks for the great review as always
In the latest stream you talked about including sata cables in orders. Now, what you could do, is add them as an option for 0$ and if one fails, you just return the (0$) money. That way you could deal with "warranty" without actually having to do anything.
my case has support for 3 120 millimeter fans or 3 140mm fans in the front, but I only use the 140 millimeter fans, so I used tin snips to get rid of the 120 mm mounts.
I've been waiting a few months for availability of the P500A in my region, but this year is looking very unlikely so I just pulled the trigger on the P600S! Internals are the same and with the front/top panels removed I'm hoping it has similar performance to the P500A, hoping you guys might crack out a review for the P600S sometime but it's a bit older so I'm not entirely sure of the chances. Thanks for the amazingly in depth review as always!
@@LFiers in terms of airflow/thermals they were very similar. The only deal breaker not to chose lancool2 is it doesn't support 360 RAD on the top (just the front) while p500a supports both. So I am leaning towards phanteks
@@Krish32332 Thanks. I went with Lian Li 011 and Corsair Elite 360mm air cooler and Corsair QL 120 fans. I was deciding on AIO liquid or an air cooler bur I heard liquid is much quieter and more efficient. Hopefully true because I spent some decent money on it all
I think the early development shows the case with three 120mm fans mounted in front inside the front panel instead of 140mm fans, that’s why the pictures look the way it looks.

Please do not ship extra screws! I have way too many already. I'd hate to have to start a campaign to get NZXT to send you more marketing trash.
So low end cases should include fans, high end cases shouldn't come with fans so that their customers can choose what they want?
I want to support this channel and buy the mouse mat, but asking 47% of the purchase price of the mat for shipping is too excessive. :-(
To quote another person: “It’s going to take a while to beat that lap time.”

Always nice to see a good case for a change
So nice! It's not that common, but the good ones are really good.

@@GamersNexus Hopefully it means we'll get more of them. This case is pretty cheap considering the quality.
Does this case get dusty on the inside?
Definitely considering getting this one as well. With the vertical mount section, it's seems like great clearance for the 4090 power cable tension concern.
"Overall the P500A we would say is a good case. It is in terms of thermals one of the best cases, in terms of build quality uhh, it has advanced vs phanteks' previous cases especially the very old tooling for the p400. So it's, it's good if you want to buy it then cool we don't really have any problems with that." That's as much of an endorsement as you'll ever get from Gamers Nexus, if I worked at Phanteks I would frame that.
While i would put it out as a motivational poster.
Seems they have succumbed to also ran.
Also just finally got my posters. Just waiting on my mod mat to ship and a restock on the dope GN toolkit
Wow! Thanks so much for all the support. Glad you got one of those new posters!
@@GamersNexus i really appreciate what you guys do. Gotta keep it alive lol
@@GamersNexus Just got both of the posters off the store. I love the blocky style used in both. Thanks GN!
"someday, manufacturers will remember they can put fans on the side of cases."
Wish they would do those cases again, I have one right now for my Ryzen 3600 has 2x 280mm side fans with manual control in the case. I want a new case but I know I'll also need to buy a new cooler for the CPU as I'll be losing a lot of air flow
That sidefan is the only part that saved the original Silentbase 800 btw.
And the SB 800 isnt THAT old.
When they do remember this, I will finally consider replacing my HAF X.
Literally why I haven't even consider changing my HAF X
Same.
Noise-normalized tests are the best! You're true heroes!
Good airflow makes a quiet case.
Glad I made a good choice waiting for this case to come out. Been holding out ever since it was announced last year.
Hey does it get dusty inside form having no front filter?
@@snowlight950 I’m pretty sure it have a dust filter
@@Guth10 it doesn't actually.. Just the front mesh
What do you mean fit perfectly on the top? Can you get all the screws in for the radiator? I can only align 4 screws for 360mm radiator.
Wanted: Bags of case screws with a GN logo.
What? You said you had enough screws to ship out Steve. 😁👍
it irks me to see fan mounting though the front of the case considering at least 90% of the cases out there can have the fans on the outside of the case and still clear the bezel (yay I got 3 giant 140mm ARGB fans, and some angle iron cutting 1/4 off each side, winner!)
Cut it yourself. It's there to support 120 fans and rads.
could it fit 3 120mm fans on the front on the outside of the case ?
Yea the fan mounting visible through the front was not good, also no vent holes above psu cover, and those strange looking phanteks plastic shield slider to cover all the cords
@@theo_mande ik its late. But 3 x 120mm fans should have no issues at the front. Ive seen people do it
My mind was actually blown when you removed that top panel. I actually kinda yelled. Wow! I love this.
Thanks for the content, you guys! Always my go to for IN DEPTH commentary.
25:48 steve has such a straight face he's usually more happy when he's saying that a product is shit
Your review was EXCELLENT 10/10
I will be getting one of these before they sell out.
Wow, the standarised thermals are really impressive, Phanteks doesn't disappoint once again!
"We recommend the RGB version"
There's something i never thought I'd hear on this channel.
It ships with a better configuration for airflow and yields better overall performance. What's the issue?
@@ShroudedWolf51 Usually, the RGB version of cases sacrifice airflow for aesthetics for cost reasons (RGB fans coat more).
@@tomhsia4354 In this case the RGB fans seem to just be normal fans with RGB slapped on harmlessly though, so you get more fan for your money.
But you can buy more fans for the price difference so at the same price point, non-rgb should theoretically be better, right?
Guys, I absolutely love the to attention to details. Top Notch! Keep it up. Looking forward to more fan / cooler testing.✌️🇨🇦
ps. Where is the Corsair Obsidian 1000D. I have one and it would be cool if it was on the charts😉

Just ordered the base model and will be moving over all 140mm noctua fans from my 6 year old build. Looking forward to something fresh!
GN: "If you want to buy it, cool, we don't really have a problem with it"

Still missing the P600s, would really like to see how it performs against other airflow cases.
I have it! Its awesome coupled with a noctua dh15. Cpu temps 28 at ambient and never higher than 45 under full load. Not see the GPU above 65 even after hours of 100% usage. I have a 2080 super for reference.
@@Doyouevenliftjpg damn 28 degrees is a great result

@@PeighDay I'm torn between buying a P500A and P600S. How does the P600s' fabric mesh hold up over time? Doesn't it get dirty and hard to clean?
@@weylandyutani6691 so far so good. Very easy to clean as well. I bought a little blower that clenas the computer and the filters very nicely.
I'm glad we won't have any problems over the purchase, I wouldn't like living my life and having to watch my back constantly.
how was the noise of the fans?
@@kevinpaulmedina8350 Still accumulating other parts, so I haven't built it yet. Bought the case first, since it was on sale. Otherwise it looks good and feels solid.
@@kevinpaulmedina8350 Noise of the fans was actually lower than my old case (Fractal Define S with 4x cheapo Arctic fans), even when I raised the new build up from the floor to head level. I mean you can still hear the fans, but personally I've never been that bothered about fan noise as I wear headphones most of he time. As a bonus the case is really easy and convenient to clean.
@@preacher3670 Thanks for the update man! I already have the P500A on my cart!
5 stars!

Me: So that means that this has to be the best case ever, right?.
It is the chosen one
....no. There is a reason why there were all those words that elaborated on its advantages and issues before that sentence.
ShroudedWolf51 well according to you what would be the best mid atx airflow case around this same price point?
Maaan... I bought my HAF X like 6 or 7 years ago and still its thermal performance reigns supreme among the newer cases.
Been waiting for this review. Was interested knowing the GN verdict given the strong reviews this case has gotten
P600s is still better than all of these versions to me. I will keep that case for a long time.
And Evolv X is better than p600s, they are priced lower for a reason.
Same here.
@@eddtru Evolv X is better looking and higher quality (those aluminium panels) but worse in cooling. Maybe not by much, but still.
@@eddtru evolv x is not better than p600s. It does not have the same great airflow ( even if it's not bad) and the retro ssd mount can be dangerous for sata cables
Danko the p600s panels are aluminum and Removable and also provide silence if you don’t need the airflow
I downsized my case from Phanteks Enthoo Primo to P500A (non-rbg version) and couldn't be more happy!
Anyone wanting the 140m fans outside the chassis, just cut the front panel at the top and bottom. It has some unnecessary plastic u can cut away and u can end up fitting the 3 140m fans easily. I did it with some pliers and a wrench to help break off the plastic.
can you send an imgur link of your process or pics of the cut out? thanks thats awesome
Let me know if it works out for u too and if u need any help
the most interesting aspect of this case for me is that it exists, considering how Phanteks is marketing the regular P500 and its nylon mesh front
Been driving this with an Arctic 360 top mount. Very, very good case.
That fan mounting problem at the front just is a deal breaker to me, thanks for spotting minor details GN I'll stick with the lancool 2 mesh.
yeah i just ordered this case and 6 lian li SL 120 fans... almost 600$ in stuff (canadian) for me to find out they don't fit -.-' thanks phanteks
Great review, GN. I am happy to see how great this case performs in the standardized fan and noise-normalized tests. I will probably pick up the non-rgb version as I already have two NF-A14 I can use for front intake. Will get third NF-A14 to fully exploit the potential of the case,. Really happy that the P500 supports 3x140 in the front.
thtas exactllt what im tinking. i also already have two 140mm phanteks Sk D-RGB fans and two rajintek slim/25mm(fans for exaust and bottom of the case. so yes i will buy this case to see if i can get my rtx2060super bellow the 70ºC when gaming the new titles like deathloop and forza 5 .
love the push for manufacturers to include more fans
I'm glad they're still doing dual system cases but I'm also glad I bought the MiniXL before it went out of production. The Evolv and P style of mounting the secondary motherboard to the roof of the case is just terrible for thermals. The Luxe 2 or whatever it's called would be cool, but it doesn't have 5.25" bays - which if there is ONE remaining use case for 5.25" bays it's PRECISELY dual system cases so you can put in hotswap HDD/ SSD cages and not rely on ethernet transfer speeds. Hotswap is so important to me I won't look at a dual system case without 5.25" bays.
man, if i didn't already have a mat i would get this one, looks amazing.
I'm good with our P400, I like that they are still innovating.
Now I gotta see the Lancool Mesh review before I decide what I'm getting
So what was your verdict in the end, which one did you get? I'm stuck between that one this one and the O11 Dynamic.

That hinged door is such a nice QOL addition. I'm obviously not "upgrading" from my p400, but I like it.
GN Excellence Award: "If you want to buy it, cool." :)
Two things: 1) the RGB version does not have a reset button and there's no way to repurpose any of its two RGB buttons as such 2) accessing the PSU is somewhat cumbersome. Other than that, it does support a 280mm fan + radiator block at the top which is nice.
As a P400a owner, the removable top panel is a godsend for plugging in the eps 12v
Especially if you have a massive air cooler and you need to replace the PSU for some reason.
At this price point I honestly can't believe they didn't fix that
That's what'd bugging me too I want my rad at the front

I was hoping this would be released sooner as I wanted to buy it (with a good review) I ended up opting for the Be Quiet 500DX. Very solid case for the money and not far off from the P500A. Thanks for the solid review Steve and Team.
Finally! I was desperately waiting for this review...
Same!
Why do you make the best videos man. I don't think there's another person who goes as in depth
This channel and KitGuru are the only channels that have an issue with the sliding covers...literally NO ONE ELSE.
They're fine...deal with it.
Wait a minute... something good to come out of 2020?? This must be a mid-year milestone
This is just one great case just for the airflow to keep your gaming rig cool.
Always been a mATX fanboy, but after the Release of RTX 3k series, im going all BIG with this case! ty GN
I was about to buy this until I saw your review. The fans not being able to be put on the outside of the front of the case was what made me decide against it.
what a dumb decision
The worst thing about this case is that it's out of stock!
Even more worst sadder case is it won't be in stock till Oct 30th. . .
@@Reaper-fg9gh where will it in stock in November
i just snagged one last night!
@juurus @Reaper000 @bob A Alright boys merry early Christmas, they're on stock www.overclockers.co.uk/search?sSearch=phanteks+p500a
Edit: You can buy them now but the restock won't be until the 20th of this month so if i were you i would just buy the case now and get it out the way before it's out of stock again.
@@tonyp114 I just did today snagged one overseas since they're out of stock in the US
Got one of these and setting up now, cheers for the review
I have to be thankful for your existence Steve. At least there's one lesser worry on my mind for the items I will be purchasing.
Thanks for the amazingly in depth review as always!
waiting for the lancool 2 mesh!
Should be a good battle between them. I'm also interested in seeing that one.
So what's better? I'm stuck between those 2. Which would accumulate dust?
@@LFiers in terms of airflow/thermals they were very similar. The only deal breaker not to chose lancool2 is it doesn't support 360 RAD on the top (just the front) while p500a supports both. So I am leaning towards phanteks
@@Krish32332 Thanks. I went with Lian Li 011 and Corsair Elite 360mm air cooler and Corsair QL 120 fans. I was deciding on AIO liquid or an air cooler bur I heard liquid is much quieter and more efficient. Hopefully true because I spent some decent money on it all
@@LFiers good case choice. If I could spend those extra $$$ for fans, would have picked the same
I think the early development shows the case with three 120mm fans mounted in front inside the front panel instead of 140mm fans, that’s why the pictures look the way it looks.
