      that is not entirely true as the peptides can be modified to enhance transdermal delivery, structural modifications of the amino acid side chains can be made to reduce the formation of zwitterions and/or to increase lipophilicity yielding increased permeability of peptides into the skin

    • @kamaropayne5226
      @kamaropayne5226 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Growth factors can be controversial, in that there’s always the possibility they could cause growth of pre existing pre cancerous cells, and there’s not a lot of science backing up their efficacy in skin care, from what I’ve been able to learn.
      But I do take an oral collagen supplement, on my doctor’s recommendation 😊

      Paul Gregory I think it depends on your skin and tolerance to Retin A. If just getting started on Retin A, moisturizer first. I've been using Retin A for years and am totally acclimated. I apply Retin A to moist skin right after cleansing (applying to moist skin increases absorption). I let the Retin A soak in about 10/15 minutes, then apply moisturizer.

    Dr. Dray, with all due respect, I just watched your Mar 28, 2018 vlog on peptides, and you say they are superior humectants/moisturizers. You also say there are no double-blind studies with cell growth of skin in a dish to convince you that they increase collagen and collagen production. There is no way for them to penetrate the skin barrier. The studies you cite in this vlog precede 2018. Please elaborate why you have changed your mind about peptides without benefit of double-blind dermatology studies. Your change of heart merits further discussion.

Currently I'm cleansing the face, then Hydro Boost gel at night, then the CeraVe moisturizing cream, and then differin on top of that every other night. So if I add a peptide, I know you said to place it on directly after cleansing the face but then at what point do I use the Hydro Boost buy Neutrogena? Does that go on top of the peptide or with the peptide take the place of the hydroboost gel? Thank you so much for response cuz I don't know if I can read all of these comments that are here! Love you dr. Dray.

      Hi. I think it depends on the formulation. I go against dr dray and use medical grade skin care, but sometimes use drugstore to alternate and help financially. Skinmedica had tns serum that is expensive and has peptides and growth factor. I put that on 1st then retin a because the tns is moisturizing enough, but in -35 degrees in the winter, I put cerave cream on top.
      Dr dray said that the neostrata isn’t moisture enough for her and she put a layer of another moisturizer on top. I would do that.

    My understanding has been that peptides barely penetrate through the stratum corneum and not at all through the epidermal basal membrane to get to the dermal level where fibroblasts are located, in order to increase collagen production. Besides moisturizing properties, is there a clear cut evidence that peptides applied on the surface of the skin enhance collagen production?

    I have dry/dehydrated, more mature (49) skin, and I have loved using the DE Protini as my day cream and the CeraVe Renewal at night (the DE isn’t quite enough hydration for me as a night cream unless it’s more humid out). I have to be really careful, though, not to use too much of the CeraVe because, even on my parched skin (not flakey but definitely a bit dry and then dehydrated from a med I have to take every night), I can wake up feeling almost greasy in the morning. I have used way more expensive creams (looking at you, La Mer!) before watching Dr. Dray and becoming better educated that are supposed to be super hydrating, and I have never had that happen before! CeraVe isn’t playing with this one! Thanks for the great info, Dr. Dray!

    How is the Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream? I read online that is an almost perfect dupe for DE Protini but as I've learned though watching SO MANY of your videos (LOL just today I've been watching them for about 6 hours on and off haha) but I've learned that those slight differences can make a HUGE difference in the end if the differing products are fragrances or citrus ingredients. From what I could see the peptides are the same in both products but the ingredient list is not exactly the same as it looks like the Acure has Cetearyl alcohol as its 3rd ingredient and also has Salicylic Acid Coco-Caprylate further down the list. I learned in one of your videos I watched earlier that Salicylic acid is a no go when using Differin (which I am starting and plan to switch to Tretinoin when I manage to get to a DR for a RX) but would you recommend the Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream as an acceptable dupe for DE protini?

    Dr. Dray, thanks for all the useful info. It’s helped my peri-menopausal skin find balance & happiness! 🥳🙌
    I’m wondering, tho, about the skincare my nieces are using: LUSH Cosmetics. Specifically, Enzymion moisturizer. They think it’ll reduce their acne breakouts, because it’s “got enzymes” in it. 🤔 I’d love to get them on CeraVe...but how to get them off of such a “trendy” brand? I was thinking that if you looked at the ingredients and it doesn’t pass muster with you, I’d have ammo to convince them! 😂😂🤓👍 Then, again, maybe you’ll like it & they’re right.🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks, again. Love ya!!

    Do more occlusive moisturizers or moisturizers with silicone interfere with active ingredients penetrating deeper into the skin? I've been loving to watch your videos and learned a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!

    What about peptides in serums? Are they just as good as in creams?
