Just wanted to say that I can watch your videos over and over again. Seriously my skincare routine has taken a 180. Instead of over exfoliating with acids and harsh scrubs. I’ve taken a more gentle approach. And I’ve been seeing results. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work!
The truth about skincare is critical today since we live in an era of quick fix or branding ignorance. Thank you as always for keeping us on the path of truth.
I use The Ordinary Matrixyl for extra moisture under my moisturizer, and it really helps my dehydrated skin. It’s cheap enough that it isn’t like I’m wasting money on it.
@@perfectfae3534 not in my experience! In fact I feel that when I put it on in the evening, I tend to wake up with somewhat oily skin in the morning (but that happens to me also with niacinamide). If you have dry skin, it might actually work really well! But I’m no derm, so this is not an advice only sharing my experience. My skin is normal to oily in the T zone, especially during warmer temperatures, just so you know where I’m coming from. Also, I am using the Revolution Matrixyl because it doesn’t have hyaluronic acid like The Ordinary. I try to avoid HA as much as possible because in the long run it doesn’t moisturize but dehydrates your skin.
@@petrajordanmusic HA doesn't dehydrate the skin as long as you use other products with occlusive ingredients. If you are using niacinamide higer than 5% in your dry skin then THAT is most probably the reson why your skin is probably irritated and therefore ends up producing more oil than usual. And niacinamide is not a bad ingrendient for anybody, actually. You maybe just can't tolerate single ingredient serums that contain niacinamide as you might need more support of other ingrediets for your skin to handle it (hidrating, calming and soothing ingrediens).
What would we do without you, Dr Dray? We would waste a ton of money on useless products, that's what. Thank you so much for your no-nonsense, consumer-protective approach.
Its never too late! I didn't start until 34. I will say, DONT FORGET to moisturize and protect your neck and chest and hands too! I started caring for those areas in my early 30s and saw rapid improvement. Im glad I started when I did.
Dr Dray, Thanks so much for your voice of reason! I’m about to enter my “second 30” and Retin-a and a few specific serums seem to work. Nice to know peptides are not really proven effective in terms of real results. Another great video!! 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
God bless you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I am grateful. As a former Marketing Director and Attorney, I feel compelled to investigate whether some skin care ingredients are truth or fluff. I appreciate the honesty and you save me many trips to the medical library.
I saw improvement very quickly when I tried the Revolution Copper Peptide serum. It cleared up my acne, got rid of most bumps and it makes my face super plump for a long time. I have very good skin overall so I am not saying this will work for everyone but I am very happy with it as my skin cannot tolerate salicylic acid, niacinamide or retinol.
the serums (comming from he ingrendient list I've found) has nothing that targets acne. So maybe your acne was cleared because what you had was purely caused by inflamation and calming and hidrating the skin indirectly helped with the acne, or... it was some other product you used.
Hi Dr. Dray :) You should consider also offering the same content of these informational videos via a podcast! I’d love to listen to the audio during my commutes and it’s just not easy or cost effective to keep TH-cam open while driving or walking :) Thanks for another great video!
I just saw a recent video where you bought the NIOD copper peptide serum and seemed excited to use it. In this video you’re saying they’re a waste of time. I think it’s time we get an update on your opinions of copper peptides and peptides in general since it seems you have evolved slightly on the topic!
"Buffet" from The Ordinary WORKS. As Dr. Dray said, it's an excellent humectant and when worn on freshly cleansed skin and followed up with Weleda Skin Food (the best moisturizer on the planet imo) it will produce amazing results. Hope this helps!

lily abramyan Chemo wrecked my skin too. I went from being slightly oily to skin like parchment paper! That's when I discovered CeraVe in the big tub. That absolutely saved my skin from head to toe. It still took over a year to reach close to normal skin. That was 6 years ago and I have been a CeraVe aficionado ever since. Big hugs to you.

I guess it’s human nature to look for “the next best thing” that is being marketed by the billion dollar cosmetic industry. I am much more consumer savvy thanks to your videos. I do use a Matrixyl 3000 serum that is quite reasonably priced. The only effect I have noticed is that it glides onto my skin like silk thanks to the glycerin and HA in the formula. So as you say, a great humectant/moisturizer!
Do you still feel the same about peptides? I was thinking of getting The Ordinary Matriyl lol I won't if you still feel the same way. Rather not waste money lol
Thank you Dr. You just confirmed exactly why I just bought cheap Matrixyl drops. Super for dehydrated skin. Not dry skin, but dehydrated, which mine is recently. If it turns out to help with collagen, that'll be a plus. But I'm not bothered about that right now. I'm 39 and still get IDed for drinks lol. And I have never bothered with skincare beyond a cheap weekly scrub and daily moisturiser. Cosmetic companies are making a lot of money on pushing products that most people don't need. I actually find it sad.
Skinlyte has a soap that is loaded not only with collagen but also keratin peptides. It is fast absorbed because it has an enhanced binding enhancement technology which produces a water molecule that hydrates skin and hair. It repairs, rebuilds and strengthens hair and skin. I got it at Amazon and I am impressed with new benefits I discover every time I use it. I noticed many improvements in my hair, skin and nails. What I like best about it is that it's all natural and without harmful chemicals such as synthetic dyes, fragrance, SLS or preservatives.
Another great video, Dr Dray. I’ve bought into all the hype with anti-aging skin care but haven’t seen any difference from what proper cleansing and moisturization does along with exfoliating a few times a week and daily sunscreen. I think we want to believe it will work but it really doesn’t.
I use copper liquid supplement on my face, which is just distilled water and copper. It really works for me to heal picked acne wounds or any cuts from shaving. It could be all in my head but it seems to work. Love your videos :).
Great video! How about red LED light therapy for anti-aging? Are the claims that it stimulates the fibroblast cells to produce more collagen have any merit? A video on it would be great :)
I have been using red light therapy and I love the way it makes my skin feel afterwards......I literally feels like I just put on a good moisturizer. I don't know about long term uses but I try and do about 5 treatments a week for at least 45 minutes and I really love it. But I would love to hear Dr.'s thoughts on it too
Hi Dr Dray. Thank you so much for this informative video. I was really helpful. Could you please make a video on Coenzyme Q10 in skincare, and if it really helps with anti-aging. Thank you again xoxo
I love it how Dr Dray just comes in with her cute smile and sweet voice and just kills the million dollar marketing beauty campaigns together with our never dying dream of staying young and 25 looking forever:) But seriously I am so grateful for all the information you provide it helps us to be smarter consumers and not fall for those marketing traps and the hype! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh man, thank you so much for this video. Unfortunately I have spent quite a bit of money on a GHK Copper peptide last week. Should have done more research beforehand.
Daily moisturizer and it’s 100times better than the $40one I just finished. Sad we think pricer is better. Read so much on how serums are treating whereas moisturizers just keep the skin moist. Will hopefully save 100’s of dollars in the future. We all appreciate your time and expertise.
I prepare my own skin care so I will try to incorporate peptides as great humectants. Humectants are not created equal. The same goes for oils and other ingredients. I know something about falling for ingredient manufacturers claims and it did not bypass me as chemist. Maybe biology class was too long ago. We don't believe skin really is a barrier. I very much appreciate your insight. You are great inspiration. So positive. Sending love from Poland.
I use A LOT of humectants (I have dry skin, which I like to keep hydrated). Peptides have never felt like humectants to me at all. Using 1% copper peptides mixed with any of my non-acid serums. The copper peptide I use is pure copper peptides, so I wouldn’t want to apply it directly to my skin. Using this twice a week, I have noticed a huge difference in my over all. I’m not someone who listens to companies claims. I look at ingredients and research.
NIODS copper peptides (CAIS2) has seriously changed my skin in terms of evening out my blotchy, uneven skin tone and minimizing my pores. The crazy thing is I have used it only 4 times so far. My skin feels soft, looks bright most importantly is really calm. So it does visibly work for me. Based on what you said about copper I don't want to overdo the usage though. Do you think using it daily in the evening is too much? If so, how frequently would you personally feel is safe to use a copper peptide?
When u feel like your skin is strong enough (no more redness, irritation, etc.) u need to stop asap because copper peptides should be used to “repair” only or else it damage ur skin
@@nguyenletruclam9051 My mom applied one drop under her eye, and she woke up with a huge and deep line. I going to get her the peptide buffet without the copper.
@@selamhazel4708 I used the same brand copper peptide and I had the same results. For like 2 months, everyday I woke up looking better than I did the day before.
Because dermatologists are physicians and can't/shouldn't suggest anything that isn't clinically proven. Estheticians see a lot of people's skin and try a lot of products and are able to recommend things based on their experience or anecdotal evidence. Both are perfectly acceptable, as long as the person you are working with is being honest and not trying to take advantage of you.
Dermatologists traditionally take a more conservative approach to skincare due to the fact that they see the worst cases of skin damage possible. If you were consistently seeing people with horrid skin due to the fact that they are using a lot of different products with different actives etc, you would probably also only tell people to use minimal products. As well as that, they traditionally only recommend things which are clinically proven. BUT eseticians have more anecdotal experience based advice and some do take interest in ingredients too. Both are okay provided you are cautious using things on your skin anyway and probably do patch testing for actives.
Side note!! Some birth controls can raise your copper levels! They go back down almost immediately when you stop as well - Still not a bad thing, keep taking your pill, girl.
Your blouse is so pretty! That is such a beautiful color on you :) PS: You're a genius! I LOVE learning the true science behind ingredients. Thank you for helping us be skin smart!
Thank you, Thank you Dr. Dray, I have been so confused about all these peptides. Most of the Fifty Plus TH-camrs, pretty much all believe in these peptides. They tell us how they really work and to layer anywhere from 4 to 7 products like serums, oils, peptides, different moisturizers and so on. I am so confused. All I know is I am 59, I use Retin A, moisturizer and sunscreen. I sure hope that is good enough, and if I don't like my wrinkles then there is botox and lasers (which I can't afford any of it). I am so happy and glad you came along. Take Care, Love Ya, and GOD BLESS YOU and YOUR MOM.😇💖 I forgot to mention that I had been going to a reputable dermatologist and about 10 years ago he now owns his own skin care from moisturizers, serums, sunscreens and certain peptide DNA serum gels. So what about that, it is so confusing about certain products when your own dermatologist sells products and has a Derma spa. I don't go to him anymore, but what do you think about Dermatologists selling and pushing their products? Thank you😁
Dear Dr. Dray, Can I use peptide, niacinamide and retinol all together at once? I'm using vitamin C products during the day and retinol in the night and I understand that we shouldn't use vitamin C and peptide at the same time. Your answer or anyone who can answer this question will be much appreciated. Thank you so much!
I’m no expert but as far as I understand the peptides are antioxidants so you shouldn’t use with vitamin c. Might depend on which product you’re using?
I LOVE your TH-cam videos immensely! If I’m allowed to say, you’re the only person I’ve agreed with on all the subjects I’ve heard you speak about. I feel the very same about Microneedling. You’re such an intelligent professional 😎
Really appreciate the truth about all these claims. Also, you voiced my concerns over derma rollers and the putting chemicals on the skin. Blessings to you:).
I just started using peach & lily's peptide serum and it has copper peptides. It has really plumped up my skin but after watching I'm not sure I should continue using it. Do you have another serum you recommend to plump skin that doesn't include hyaluronic acid?
Ohhhhh my GOD who are you? Where do you hide your wings?.. you are such an angel for sharing those pivotal informations with us ohhh my GOd you are so needed so priceless .. thank you so very much I so needed to hear this video ...... I so wish you were in New Jersey I’d be one of your patients with my eyes close as big as Jersey is I’d make it there to your office .thank you for all your videos .....
Thank you for helping us wade through the multitude of skin care products out there with all their miraculous claims. You've saved me a lot of my hard earned dollars☺️👍😘. Really enjoy your videos! Thanks again Dr Dray for educating us all!
Same here~! I binge watched his videos for 2 straight days last week and bought his products for the first time. I just stumbled on Dr. Dray's channel tonight and I might be binge watching her for the next couple of days. Good thing I completed my chores before finding her channel.
Thanks so much for this video, I've been using a peptide and was wondering if it was actually helpful but I guess I won't spend money on it. Sunscreen is most important!
Ty so much! So much. I think the older one gets the more you want to believe there are magic options out there. So easy to get sucked up into fantastic claims. Ty!
What are your thoughts on collagen peptides as a dietary supplement vs topical? The one manufactured as Vital Proteins in particular? Thank you for you knowledge..
Dr Dray do you know which videos you address the collagen peptide supplements? I've been watching your videos for quite awhile but don't remember that topic and am also interested.
Hahahaha...since finding your videos, I have eliminated three serums I use...but that's okay; this is why I dove down this skin care rabbit hole - to become educated and a savvy consumer. Thankyou!
Perfect timing! I just received a package from my parents from out of the country with peptide skincare products that they got from my dermatologist. Not sure why he would recommend them then.. They are marketed as acne products, but I don't see how they could help acne.
I use tretinoin .025. And sunscreen everyday. I use the tretinoin every other night. On my off night I use cerave lotion over a hydro acid. I eventually want to go up the .05 on tretinoin.
Yes......great idea Eerie Faerie! And a fluffy headband for washing the face that says, " no scrubs" a la TLC. (No. I don't want no scrubs..... a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me) I actually can't believe nothing exists yet. I would totally rock Dr.Dray merch.....
Alone with your videos, I also watch Mrs. Gingers Beauty.. You both give very informative information to help us make a good choice in skin care products. Thank you.
So, use the The Ordinary Buffet as a winter-time humectant under a more occlusive moisturizer. Too bad it might not stimulate collagen production, but it sounds promising for dry skin during the winter.
I hope one day you have your own sensible skin care line (I'd buy it, as would the masses), a book, and a tv show! Easter blessings on you and mom (and Tybee)
Great video Dr Dray. I must tell you that since I started watching your videos, I have been doing a better job of re-applying sunscreen. I see an improvement in my skin so thank-you!
Was going to buy some Peptide serum but after doing a lot of research and watching Dr Sam Bunting and I did recall Dr Dray's video so had to go back and rewatch this content so facts from Dermetorligst is what I going on and sticking with it. Basically just a good humectant for the skin but for the high price range of some peptide serums not worth the hype.
Thank you so much DrDray,You are the key factor to saving my wallet. I am learning so much from your online TH-cam videos. You are the real Jewel to me.Thank you so much for your time and dedication to the wonderful things.🙏❤️💐
So from my experience, I have used plain humectants and they don’t give the same firming effect as the peptide serum I use (Buffet from The Ordinary) I think it is because, despite my age, I have a severe lack of support in my cheeks, I’m on retin a micro but the effect of peptides is certainly not permanent its semi permanent and goes away without use
So I saw recently you mentioned in a video that you tried and liked the Ordinary's copper peptide buffet serum. Does this mean that you have changed your mind on this? I think the science now shows that copper peptides are beneficial for the skin, correct?
I love knowing that I’m fine with my one-and-done moisturizer (Dormer, a fabulous Canadian company), and Bare Republic SPF. I’ve been absolutely shocked at some of the outrageous claims (and prices!!!!!!) of the brands lauded on beauty websites like Violet Grey. There’s a German dermatologist named Dr. Sturmer (?) who sells serums for upwards of $200 a bottle. That’s why I enjoy tuning in every day to get a dose of knowledge and good old fashioned common sense! Thanks Andrea!!!!!!

Jamie Horwitz you go Jamie!!! 👊 which peptide(s) would you recommend??
NIODS copper peptides (CAIS2) has seriously changed my skin in terms of evening out my blotchy, uneven skin tone and minimizing my pores. The crazy thing is I have used it only 4 times so far. My skin feels soft, looks bright most importantly is really calm. So it does visibly work for me. Based on what you said about copper I don't want to overdo the usage though. Do you think using it daily in the evening is too much? If so, how frequently would you personally feel is safe to use a copper peptide?
K.K can you provide a follow up for this? I’m curious if you’ve continued to see results!
LMFAOOOO no serum can do that in 4 uses. Why are ppl like this
@@selamhazel4708 I used the same brand copper peptide and I had the same results. For like 2 months, everyday I woke up looking better than I did the day before.
Why do Dermatologists say not to use anything except sunscreen and retina and estheticians tell us to use so many products
Thank you Dr. Dray for your work and time. I am new in this whole skin care world and your knowledge is helping me a lot! Hats off to you!
My major is zoology, animal sciences, I work on alternatives to vivisection.
Side note!! Some birth controls can raise your copper levels! They go back down almost immediately when you stop as well - Still not a bad thing, keep taking your pill, girl.
Hi Dr Dray, are tou still of the same opinion? Should I invest in peptides, I Am already using retinol. I am 35 years old. Thanks!
Your blouse is so pretty! That is such a beautiful color on you :)
PS: You're a genius! I LOVE learning the true science behind ingredients. Thank you for helping us be skin smart!
I may be wrong but I thank my skin has benefited by peptides. Maybe it is something else I'm using.Who knows!
Take Care, Love Ya, and GOD BLESS YOU and YOUR MOM.😇💖
I forgot to mention that I had been going to a reputable dermatologist and about 10 years ago he now owns his own skin care from moisturizers, serums, sunscreens and certain peptide DNA serum gels.
So what about that, it is so confusing about certain products when your own dermatologist sells products and has a Derma spa.
I don't go to him anymore, but what do you think about Dermatologists selling and pushing their products?
Thank you😁
You have a fantastic routine :)
Dr Dray Thank you...
Would you reccomend 2nd day application after micro needling ?? Thank you!
Dear Dr. Dray,
Can I use peptide, niacinamide and retinol all together at once? I'm using vitamin C products during the day and retinol in the night and I understand that we shouldn't use vitamin C and peptide at the same time. Your answer or anyone who can answer this question will be much appreciated.
Thank you so much!
Hi I want to know too.
:)
Thanks doctor, you saved me a lotta money. Can I use glycerin with water as a moisturiser?
I see and feel noticeable improvement right when I use Paula’s Choice peptides.
:)
Thank you for helping us wade through the multitude of skin care products out there with all their miraculous claims. You've saved me a lot of my hard earned dollars☺️👍😘. Really enjoy your videos! Thanks again Dr Dray for educating us all!
Thanks for watching Ms Colleen L)
best thing for me is retin a, glycolic acid, lactic acid, and then ceramide to help support peeling skin.
with resting periods. I alternate.
:)
Do they have the research now in 2024, if peptides r anti aging??
Between you and Jordan Samuel, I have definitely heeded to the advice of less is more and not fall the F.O.M.O. reaction of skin care products 😉
:)
I love his products, Simple no nonsense!
Natalie S. - same here, I also appreciate that I can make a hydrating mask out of his serums and After Show cleanser 😍
Same here~! I binge watched his videos for 2 straight days last week and bought his products for the first time. I just stumbled on Dr. Dray's channel tonight and I might be binge watching her for the next couple of days. Good thing I completed my chores before finding her channel.
Neyda Frierson Has Dr.Dray reviewed Jordan Samuels?
I guess Maytrxl and Arginine are the ones I liked.
I never miss a video since I discovered your chanel!! Greetings from Greece
So glad to hear you are enjoying the videos :)
Thanks so much for this video, I've been using a peptide and was wondering if it was actually helpful but I guess I won't spend money on it. Sunscreen is most important!
:)
I know this is an old video, but dark blue looks good on you!
Epithalon works great to soften and almost vanish finer lines n Ipamorelin works similar, this is not hypothetical but that’s me
Ty so much! So much. I think the older one gets the more you want to believe there are magic options out there. So easy to get sucked up into fantastic claims. Ty!
Which peptide is best for anti aging with sensitive acne prone skin ?
What are your thoughts on collagen peptides as a dietary supplement vs topical? The one manufactured as Vital Proteins in particular? Thank you for you knowledge..
I'm curious, too. I recently purchased Vital Proteins collagen in hopes it does something positive.
i have mentioned this in other videos
Dr Dray do you know which videos you address the collagen peptide supplements? I've been watching your videos for quite awhile but don't remember that topic and am also interested.
No drama, no nonsense. Appreciated! Blessings! Jackie in NY state
:)
Hahahaha...since finding your videos, I have eliminated three serums I use...but that's okay; this is why I dove down this skin care rabbit hole - to become educated and a savvy consumer. Thankyou!
You just saved me $30! Thanks
Finally, I understand what peptides are!! Thank you!!
:)
Perfect timing! I just received a package from my parents from out of the country with peptide skincare products that they got from my dermatologist. Not sure why he would recommend them then.. They are marketed as acne products, but I don't see how they could help acne.
moisturizing does help acne
Your skin is just gorgeous!
thanks
I use tretinoin .025. And sunscreen everyday. I use the tretinoin every other night. On my off night I use cerave lotion over a hydro acid. I eventually want to go up the .05 on tretinoin.
What is your opinion of ordinary chemical peel 30% or the buffet one from ordinary?
There should be Dr Dray merch.. A coolibar shirt that says, "And Always, Sunscreen" and a mug that says, "Don't Fall For It" 😆
lol
Dr Dray I would totally buy those for real 😁
Yes......great idea Eerie Faerie!
And a fluffy headband for washing the face that says, " no scrubs" a la TLC.
(No. I don't want no scrubs..... a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me)
I actually can't believe nothing exists yet.
I would totally rock Dr.Dray merch.....
Oh I want a mug that says don't fall for it! I may have to get one printed....
"Sunscreen and subscribe"
Alone with your videos, I also watch Mrs. Gingers Beauty.. You both give very informative information to help us make a good choice in skin care products. Thank you.
So, use the The Ordinary Buffet as a winter-time humectant under a more occlusive moisturizer. Too bad it might not stimulate collagen production, but it sounds promising for dry skin during the winter.
Is it ok to use peptides and growth factors after microneedling ?? I heard it's good to get it deeper into your skin ? any truth to that ??
I hope one day you have your own sensible skin care line (I'd buy it, as would the masses), a book, and a tv show! Easter blessings on you and mom (and Tybee)
:)
Yes, indeed! Well said.
Great video Dr Dray. I must tell you that since I started watching your videos, I have been doing a better job of re-applying sunscreen. I see an improvement in my skin so thank-you!
Thanks! So glad to hear Ms Chantal
Awesome video! You really know how to cut through the BS!!
Thanks!
This is an awesome video. Very understandable.
She recently recommended a peptide serum
Thank you so much DrDray,You are the key factor to saving my wallet. I am learning so much from your online TH-cam videos. You are the real Jewel to me.Thank you so much for your time and dedication to the wonderful things.🙏❤️💐
So from my experience, I have used plain humectants and they don’t give the same firming effect as the peptide serum I use (Buffet from The Ordinary) I think it is because, despite my age, I have a severe lack of support in my cheeks, I’m on retin a micro but the effect of peptides is certainly not permanent its semi permanent and goes away without use
I was on epiduo and the benzoyl peroxide wrecked my skin :( have gotten it mostly back but suffer from severe side effects
:)
So I saw recently you mentioned in a video that you tried and liked the Ordinary's copper peptide buffet serum. Does this mean that you have changed your mind on this? I think the science now shows that copper peptides are beneficial for the skin, correct?
Can I nix Copper with hyloron or Vichy Mineral Water
Yes
This is my favorite channel. Slay girl SLAYYYY
Thanks!
True about science funding! Need more. What kinds of things in cosmeceutical s would you like to see lab researched?
Hi, Any moistuzer cream it has both peptides and ceramides for face ?
I love knowing that I’m fine with my one-and-done moisturizer (Dormer, a fabulous Canadian company), and Bare Republic SPF. I’ve been absolutely shocked at some of the outrageous claims (and prices!!!!!!) of the brands lauded on beauty websites like Violet Grey. There’s a German dermatologist named Dr. Sturmer (?) who sells serums for upwards of $200 a bottle. That’s why I enjoy tuning in every day to get a dose of knowledge and good old fashioned common sense! Thanks Andrea!!!!!!
:)
