Classic Game Room reviews DEATH DUEL for the 16 bit Sega Genesis Mega Drive video game console. This is an interesting MD game and claims to not be a "standard shooter". It certainly is not a first person shooter, or even the trendy third person shooter. It's more like an Atari game juiced up for the Megadrive with simple gameplay, easy to learn controls and fancy, funky fresh rap style hip hop beats. Death Duel is a game where you face off against other alien and robotic opponents in duels to the death. This is a fairly obscure game on the 16-bit Genesis but a very fun and entertaining one. Fight your opponents with an arsenal of weapons including machine guns, lasers, spinners, grenades, land mines, missiles and homing rockets. Win money by destroying the life forms on various planets. Spend the money on guns. Hooray for Death Duel, a very bizarre yet strangely addictive and enjoyable game. I would not expect to see a remake of this on PS3 Playstation 3, PS2, Wii or Xbox 360 Live Arcade XBLA any time soon. I think this game has been sadly lost to history. I paid $2.50 for it at a used CD store. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. Me too. I remembered reading a strategy guide on how to beat it in a game mag years ago. The few parts of it I remember: one of your opponents is a mutant that hits whatever it hits, ignore her/its screams of agony, and the final boss has never been defeated; each hit of its guns means you are 85% closer to death and that it had a cloaking device that could be disabled.
Thanks to Lord Karnage for daring to put a video of this classic on TH-cam, I have my copy still next to me and while I sold many genesis titles Sonic and this still exist as part of my collection. While I've never heard of this channel before, your willingness to put this game up in a review format brings a cheer to my heart in my time of depression. So thank you, once again.

One of the best Genesis games no doubt. Ripped the music and put it on my channel I loved it so much.
My very first fight, my opponent walked all the way to the left side of the screen, where I physically couldn't reach him with my crosshairs, and just waited out the timer.
I turned off the game right then and there. That is some serious bullshit.

Such a fun game once you get the hang of it. Man I miss the 90s. Bringing games like this home on a Friday night was so awesome.
The narration at the beginning was hilarious. It really enhanced the game experience :).
I seriously just spent over an hour trying to remember the title of this game....and out of nowhere DUEL popped in my head. I FUCKING LOVED THIS GAME OVER ALMOST ANY GENESIS GAME. Eternal Champions had to be my favorite.

Not the mech suits, but the story idea. It mirrors TLS. The suits are like Robotech. Which I might add, made some really neat models.

I'm so glad to find a review on this game. I'm not spamming for swagbucks, but I got a lot of points and want to get some good genesis games before the sale is over. Most the genesis games they got are crap or for the megadrive which I don't have :[ figures.

@Sparisi1122 Disregard the previous comment. I was thinking of the 32x, and forgot megadrive was what Genesis was called everywhere else. It's a North American cartridge and it's been shipped out. Thanks again for the review. With the limited selection I didn't want to waste my hard earned points on a game that sucks.

i love this game... ive had it since before i was born, im having trouble beating the last enemy though, i got through the rest in a snap... i got the right weapons 'n stuff and i destroyed all of his body parts but i dont know where to shoot him last.........
Damn that ending is cruel. They may as well have said: You suck, never play this game again.
The original box actually had a "Mature Gamers Only" warning on it, which, of course, made you want it even more.

I recently set up a Retropie/Raspberry Pi retro gaming thing for myself and was working through the list of Genesis games. This was surprisingly fun and I admit I lost to the first boss too many times before a well placed rocket/missile broke his face.
the story is not that bad, in fact, imma get this game if i ever see it, it sounds like the first game of its kind wich reminds me of movies like Aliens (where Ripley uses a machine to fight the queen) pacific rim and games.
Arg you're so lucky you have a store near you that sells classic games!!! I have ebay and amazon and neither has the best prices.

It's crazy... I love this game but. When I play this game, everyone is incredibly difficult, everyone is firing on me big time, blocking or moving a lot. In this video no one is doing anything to attack you or defend themselves. Its crazy.
is this compatable with the super scope bazooka thing? i have that and the only game that i knew that worked with it was the t2 arcade game, which SUCKED and was, impossible

I think this game used light gun cause I tried it on emulator and couldn't shoot at the extremes (left and right extremes) of the death duel area.
