I love this game and i used to play it all the time on my Genesis. Still one of my favorite spaceship shooters ever. Got great fun gameplay, awesome music and very cool Boss fights.
Decided to look up a review for this, since I got one of those AtGames handhelds with 40 Genesis games on it, and Arrow Flash is one of them. Not a bad game at all, and probably a gateway title for the heavier shooters.
I remember getting this, cartridge only, in a blister package at Kmart in the mid 90s for $5. It might not have been the best game but the music was awesome. Some of the deepest punchiest bass I've heard on a 16 bit game
This game has some fantastic music. Its not in the same league as ThunderForce II and IV but its a good solid shoot'em up. Shoot'em ups flourished on the Megadrive/Genesis. There's so many qaulity titles, including this.
I fell in love with this game while testing out one of the old At Games Genesis consoles. I wanted to make sure it worked, so I played the first game on the list. Within minutes I knew I needed to get the physical copy of this game. Great game. :-)
oh, I almost forgot to tell you. The european cartridge is quite beautiful. Its a picture of the girl pilot posing, with the big robot in the backgrund looking quite menacing! I bought the game based on the cartridge alone!its weird sometimes how stuff like that can differ between regions
I used have this game and enjoy playing it when I was kid. I was stupid to trade it in for another game. I remember a secret where u had unlimited arrow flash power in robot form that lasted a very long time and I can't remember how I did it.
Cesar Ferrer I won't disagree because I didn't played it :) but I will believe you! I remember Megami Tensei for Famicom... best 8-bit soundtrack ever- rly it sound like early 16-bit games!
My favorite feature in the game is in the options menu, you can turn the super weapon into a charge shot. It starts as a weapon stock of limited shots.
I agree, the games they put out were well above average. Oddly enough, Renovation Products never actually *developed* anything -- they were only a publisher, who mostly localized Wolf Team's games (El Viento, Sol-Deace, etc.) But Arrow Flash, as well as Gain Ground, were actually developed by Sega. I wonder why it is that they outsourced their games to Renovation for U.S. publishing, but released them under their own label overseas? (The game boxes & title screens reflect this difference.)
When you just want to rip through the enemy like so much tissue paper: At the options menu, switch the setting, ''Arrow Flash'', from ''Stock'', to ''Charge''. When the story demo is over, wait for the demo of the gameplay to begin. Then press Start to start the game. Now, when you hold C for five seconds, you'll be invincible for about 10 minutes.
+GuardiRock The joys of collecting physical copies. There's just something about the packages the games came in. Especially old Genesis/Mega drive games.
Yeh I love physical copies for the box art, and the cartridge/book art. But also to play the games on original hardware. There's just something so cool about having a real piece of gaming history. I love getting books where someone from long ago has written codes up the back.
I dont own the cartridge of this game but it is on a AT Games Genesis i bought a couple years ago for 30 bux. It plays perfectly fine but of course the sound isnt up to par but it was still cool to be able to play it though. Im terrible at shooters though. Lol. So i didnt get far in it.
If you're into robots equipped for mass destruction, you should review Target: Earth on the Genesis. It seems like a game you'd love, and I'd like to hear what you thought of it. It's tough as nails but a very well-crafted game.
@tyniehawk Thanx dude! I´ve been playin this game for just some time, but EVERY time I pass that damn section... I bite the dust. You sir, are a freakin hero. If nothing else, my controler sertanly thinks so
mine cart has actually pretty cool artwork: you see the chick in the friont(although she isnt in japanese style here she has brown hair here) and behind her is the cool robot and in the background there's space and some planet and a bunch of enemy's well ive got the european mega drive version though...
What you say may be true, I don't know about that since I've never played Warcraft 3. But "All your base are belong to us" doesn't come from Warcraft originally. It's from the opening of the PAL version of Zero Wing, with is a game for the Sega Mega Drive. The PAL version, which was released in 1991, had really poor English translation. I doubt that Warcraft 3 was even released in 1991, or am I wrong? You could search for "All your base are belong to us" on wikipedia for some more info. :)
@hardcorerocc ThunderForce II kicks ass, I haven't played this one yet, but I would definitely recommend TFII - it's my favorite Genesis game and it's really cheap nowadays, I got it for like 6 bucks at amazon.com
@deadlygroove1 Yeah, I forgot about the KHz difference, but it's pretty close. And it can be argued that many SNES games sounded as good or better in quality than lots of PS1 and Sega CD games, since not all of those games took full advantage of the hardware or took poor advantage of the hardware.
Got mine boxed years ago, less than 10 bucks. This was back when Genesis games were cheap and easy to get ahold of, unlike SNES games which were already inflating in value. Sadly now, like the SNES, Genesis game prices are rising, and for collectors, this is not a good thing. The Genesis and the Gameboy were the last bastions of cheap games to get, though the GB games have mostly remained affordable. It's also the reason I have 173 Genesis/MD games, and only 161 SNES/SFC games (though the latter I am trying to balance out with the Genesis stuff).
Watching this still in 2019, wishing the internet still worked like it did in 2009. :(
I played this game when I was a kid. Never forgot it.
I might buy this for that intro alone.
Its my childhood
is totally worth it, my childhood knows it.
I love this game and i used to play it all the time on my Genesis.
Still one of my favorite spaceship shooters ever.
Got great fun gameplay, awesome music and very cool Boss fights.
Those sounds and music are so Genesis
Decided to look up a review for this, since I got one of those AtGames handhelds with 40 Genesis games on it, and Arrow Flash is one of them. Not a bad game at all, and probably a gateway title for the heavier shooters.
I remember getting this, cartridge only, in a blister package at Kmart in the mid 90s for $5. It might not have been the best game but the music was awesome. Some of the deepest punchiest bass I've heard on a 16 bit game
this is actually one of my all time fav-games. Cant really say why, I just love it. The music is totally rad in some stages!
This game has some fantastic music. Its not in the same league as ThunderForce II and IV but its a good solid shoot'em up.
Shoot'em ups flourished on the Megadrive/Genesis. There's so many qaulity titles, including this.
I grew up with this game, one of the first I had for the Sega Genesis living as a kid born in 1986 in Chicago.
The creativity and humor is why we miss ya Mark
Truly a classic Classic Game Room episode.
i just got this game and the artwork on the case makes up for the carts lack of artwork, man i love this game its awesome!
sum1 probably commented this already, but you can arrow flash through the 2nd bunch of asteroid in the 'guy mode' 5:38
I fell in love with this game while testing out one of the old At Games Genesis consoles. I wanted to make sure it worked, so I played the first game on the list. Within minutes I knew I needed to get the physical copy of this game. Great game. :-)
It's worth noting that in the Japanese version of the game, the name of the robot you are controlling is called "Lucifon".
oh, I almost forgot to tell you.
I remember a secret where u had unlimited arrow flash power in robot form that lasted a very long time and I can't remember how I did it.
arrowflash, mega turrican, gairaes, gunstar heroes those were the days
This was one of my favorites games when I was a little kid.
i had this game. the level 4 boss was the coolest
renovation used to make some really great games for the sega genesis back in the day. el viento, the valis series and many othe great shooting games
This looks pretty cool. The music kicks ass.
Genesis game with such an awsome music??!! Now my ears heard everything!!
Very nice! :)
Saw this, had to reply: Herzog Zwei, Sonic games, Target Earth, Cyborg Justice, Street of Rage games, there is more but i cant remember right now
Cesar Ferrer Sonic games and Bare Knuckles- agree. There are few other games. But good music on Genesis isn't heard often.
MocnyBrowarek herzog zwei is the leader of the pack if you ask me, u havent been able to forget how good that game was in every aspect
Cesar Ferrer I won't disagree because I didn't played it :) but I will believe you!
I remember Megami Tensei for Famicom... best 8-bit soundtrack ever- rly it sound like early 16-bit games!
I can tell you grew up in the 80's just like I did, I love space ships that change into robots and blow shit up
My favorite feature in the game is in the options menu, you can turn the super weapon into a charge shot. It starts as a weapon stock of limited shots.
I agree, the games they put out were well above average. Oddly enough, Renovation Products never actually *developed* anything -- they were only a publisher, who mostly localized Wolf Team's games (El Viento, Sol-Deace, etc.)

Renovation games have a certain charm and awesomeness. I'm trying to collect them all.
The European version of this game has a pretty picture of the girl and her robot on the cartridge.
NOTE: you can use the arrow flash ability to move trough the meteroid field without dying its very usefull
My favorite Sega game ever
ARROW FLASH > Salad. I'm sold.
I can remember playing this years and years ago
good lord this game still looks awesome
When you just want to rip through the enemy like so much tissue paper: At the options menu, switch the setting, ''Arrow Flash'', from ''Stock'', to ''Charge''.

Thanks!
It's one of the included games on the AtGames Sega Genesis 'Model 4'...
I like it.
The closest you can get to a Macross game on the Genesis. It's a good one if you can find it.
I've still got this too. Im gonna go play it actually
Can't wait to buy this game.
YAY FOR ARROW FLASH! This game and me = history
This channel never disappoints, I wish he’d do a review of Cosmic Epsilon NES
I wish Mark and Classic Game Room would some day return.
I got it in japanese version. The anime style cover is so beautiful.
Ive never played this game. But now that Ive seen it I want to! Awesome video man.

one of my fav sega games
This was one of my first games.

I picked up a CIB copy at a yard sale this weekend. Cool box art. Gameplay looks sweet as hell
OMG!!!! I LOVE THIS GAME!!!! I ALWAYS PLAYED THIS!!!! MEGA AWESOME!!!
my first game on mega drive
This looks really cool. I mean, really cool as in deserves a re release cool...
I suck at playing shooter games, never beat this one, but I must admit, every time I play this game I had a lot of fun
lol that opening is almost a anime opening
awesome!
Another great Megadrive title I've played on early 90's, thanks to a japanese friend with families in japan
The Next Generation of Gaming
@artnandez Renovation was a publisher not a developer. They simply brought Japanese games to the USA. Valis was by Telenet. Not sure about other one,
i loved this game, had it on japanese converter
Man I miss these reviews.
this game kinda remidns me of ma-cross, tbh wouldnt be surprized if it was based on it
0:34 That is some music there. Sweetness.
Aw why didn't you show the Crazy Golden Dragon God at the end that was crazy!! Awesome vid btw it brought so much nostalgia
Health and well-being through robotic force. I'm with you there. :)
The orange cartridge looks a lot like Gaiares from the same publisher. Also, thumbs up for intergalactic road rage.

Xenon 2 = Manic Shooter
This = Relaxed
You're Right!!!!
Never tell me the odds!
If you're into robots equipped for mass destruction, you should review Target: Earth on the Genesis. It seems like a game you'd love, and I'd like to hear what you thought of it. It's tough as nails but a very well-crafted game.
I remember the old days when this video wasn't buried by the DC TV show
i love this guy's narration =]
@tyniehawk Thanx dude! I´ve been playin this game for just some time, but EVERY time I pass that damn section... I bite the dust. You sir, are a freakin hero. If nothing else, my controler sertanly thinks so
The pal version got much better artwork, infact it actually got some artwork.
i love arrow flash
mine cart has actually pretty cool artwork:
you see the chick in the friont(although she isnt in japanese style here she has brown hair here) and behind her is the cool robot and in the background there's space and some planet and a bunch of enemy's
well ive got the european mega drive version though...
you know you can change to a smaller, faster ship whenever you want?
I love the flashing sign of doom saying "OUT OF DANGER". It's so weird to loudly announce one's safety.
Probably before his first cup of coffee as he often comments his love for it.
I will be sure to watch wind squid and go to the new CGR forum ;)
@davecarldude The song is probably made specifically for CGR.
This game is on the AT Games HD Genesis console. The sound is a little off but it plays the same though.
In my opion arrow flash would make a good remaster for next gen systems
One of a handfull of good games you can play without forward (R) key.seriously
Five stars for mentioning waffles 8D
Waffle fries suck, fite me
... man i wish i was born when Atari came out
Didn't like this too much, the special move is way overpowered and it's very short and run of the mill throughout. Lots of better shooters for the MD!
What you say may be true, I don't know about that since I've never played Warcraft 3. But "All your base are belong to us" doesn't come from Warcraft originally. According to C-3PO, the odds of successfully navigating through an Asteroid Field are: 3,720 to 1.
@hardcorerocc Thunderforce 2, but this game doesnt really cost that much, so just get it while your at it ;)
I refuse to engage in further verbal fisticuffs on my favorite video game channel!
Why do I always get the feeling that he is very high.
@hardcorerocc ThunderForce II kicks ass, I haven't played this one yet, but I would definitely recommend TFII - it's my favorite Genesis game and it's really cheap nowadays, I got it for like 6 bucks at amazon.com
The girl looks like Samus in her pilot suit. o-o
@deadlygroove1
Yeah, I forgot about the KHz difference, but it's pretty close. And it can be argued that many SNES games sounded as good or better in quality than lots of PS1 and Sega CD games, since not all of those games took full advantage of the hardware or took poor advantage of the hardware.
OKAy U've convinced me hello amazon purchase!!
if you didnt do it already can you review action 52 one of the greatest games ever made
11:55 Yay Platterpus!
thanks for the info :D
should i get this or thunder force 2
"Aeroflash - Better than salad"
lol, they should've put that on the box
"2.50" *looks up on ebay* 25 dollars.....
Kevin Harding now about 40 but I got mine for 15 I'm happy
Got mine boxed years ago, less than 10 bucks. This was back when Genesis games were cheap and easy to get ahold of, unlike SNES games which were already inflating in value. Keep in mind this vid was made in 2008, before 'retro gaming' blew up.
And now it’s $90+ (complete)
Now, you can buy it in any of those AtGames Genesis systems. It's an AtGames staple, like Jewel Master and Gain Ground
