Nice in depth review! As an enthusiast, the F-Pace would be one of my top choices for an SUV. I test drove the 340 HP F-Pace and was impressed. Looks, feel, power and sounds the part. It ticks a lot of the boxes.
I love seeing the car Interiors in the dark. It's so nice to see how they light up, and what mood they set. BMW has almost always been my favorite car in this capacity- the orange glow from the dash is so nice. I'm happy to say that an F-Pace is most likely my next vehicle, though. Can't wait!

Brilliantly comprehensive review. I have watched two of your F-Pace reviews, and will be buying either the 3 litre diesel S, or the 2 litre 180p diesel, budget allowing.
The F-Pace tested in this video is the best variant in my opinion. It has the right tech features such as the pro touch screen and LED lighting with none of the unnecessary frills that hinder performance and usability (22 inch rims, sun roof). Although I would have it in Silver or white with the same wheels in black. Excellent review as usual, Thanks Thomas!
Thomas, I believe Jaguar designed the car to have multiple driving options. When you mentioned the response to acceleration, were you in Sport mode? If you have the opportunity to test again, try putting the car in Dynamic mode, then Sport mode on the gear selector. You'll feel an extreme difference in responsiveness. That's when the computers opens up all 380 HP and responsiveness is immediate. Great job as always!

I wish the Jaguar interior's didn't look so lacking. The XJ is pretty old but it has probably the best interior of all the models, (even though it is their top of the line vehicle) the other models could of done better.

Hello, thank you for your extensive test, I had really enjoyed watching your through review. Had the 240 bhp diesel for a 1h test run. I have noticed that the gearbox and downshifting tends to get better in time - not sure if it adapts or maybe I got used to it. For the sound insulation I have noticed that the wheel noise gets a bit high at +150 kmph - at least it seems a bit high (maybe it were the 19" alloys / tires that I had on the car). I have a feeling that some of the interior elements will wear off very quickly (glossy plastics were already scratched all over, and the plastic - silver trim seems cheap.) But the ride itself - car would stick to the road, turning was pleasant even at quickly taken corners and I also enjoyed the way the car behaves when you want to take it to a quick stop - very little body displacement occurred in all cases. Still struggling if this is a proper choice considering I have to at times do 1000 km's at a time through German highways :)
It is somewhere between the macan and cayenne in size. It has similar cargo room to the latter, but is not quite as sporty as the macan. The Q7 should not be in same conversation unless you consider SQ7. Even then... Compare that more directly to the Volvo XC90, or possibly the Mazda CX-9 if you want a cheaper alternative.
But I think we are comparing SVs and SUVs... macan and stelvio are more or less hatchbacks with a body kit... the utility isn't really there, although the sport is.
A great review as usual . I think the wheels don't do the car justice. If it's a sport model it should look more sporty. I think the Porsche macan would make better sense.long term. Prices in that catorgory the quality of the interior should be much higher. I'm looking forward to your review on the E Panamera.
I looked at this car... I just wasn't feeling it. Especially with the lack luster interior. It's not ugly... just was giving me more sport than premium luxury. The Macan won me over... but now the VELAR will be hear soon. I'm trying to hold out
You should turn the speed selector to "S" instead of "D" to get shorter response time and higher revs in sports mode. This is why you didn't get the response you expected
If you want a name for a new part where you testing lights, I have two favorites: 1) 3AL = Autogefühl all about lights 2) Autogefühl Light Show I hope you and the other Autogefühl fans would like one of these.

I think it would have helped to show more of the options regarding a spare wheel. Your review implied that there is no spare at all, so what happens when you get a puncture? If even the skinny spare is an option what is the default arrangement if you do not have it as an installed option? I have seen a review where they show the option of a full size spare and this requires a different floor in the back which sits up like a large lump in the floor. It would have been good if you had mentioned this. In some countries a spare is essential if you are leaving the city because of the distances and the condition of the minor roads. What would happen if the vehicle you reviewed had a flat and you went to get the spare and there was none??? I would like to see this area covered better in all reviews, but particularly for all wheel drive SUVs. Most reviewers either ignore this area all together because manufacturers are no longer offering spares or they gloss over what is a very important thing if you are stuck by the road with a flat tire many miles from help.
How Tall Are You? Do you feel someone a few inches taller than you would be comfortable driving this car? Did you feel like you could take this car on a long drive?

Another great video Thomas, the Jaguar is a good car, but my choice would be the Porsche Cayenne Diesel S, it probably won't fall apart or give as much trouble as the Jag!
So was I but, unlike the F Pace, the external appearance is a bit of a disappointment, particularly the rear end with the off-centre number plate. There doesn't seem to be any compelling reason for that, so I assume they think it looks good whereas I think it looks terrible.

Thomas, you should get a new pair of gloves from Sanata Claus ;) To your question how to name the part when you're presenting lihgts - keep it simple: Lighting test (or smth like this). BTW, I'm not very convinced with the digital instruments. They look so flat, don't you think? Also, when you're driving against the sun there's a moment (c.a. 30min on your video) when the instruments just disappear for a few seconds - I suppose this is just the camera's record but what's the real vew like in such conditions?

Hi Thomas: You can change the interior ambient light if you have the option fixed it in the car (here is Spain is an option, I think in the S model is standard). If it is standard, you have to go to the main menu to the second screen (turn left the main menu) and then you have it and can change the color and the intensity. First to the practical reasons: 1. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat 2. they are cold in winter 3. on cloth or microfibre, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling 4. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like granny’s old sofa 5. if you want leather look, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review) So Tesla shows that the discussion wether you need animal skin is basically done. Still, now to the environmental reasons: 1. There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body. 2. The way the cows are held are catastrophic (see videos below) 3. Even if a cow gets killed for meat first, you give additional money to an industry that relies on murder, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals. 4. Does it really matter for which cause a mammal, that is 99 % genetically identical with us, gets killed? Would you say a cow only got slaughtered for the meat in the leg and thus it got slaughtered for the meat in the neck anyway? That doesn’t make sense. 5. So to the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/ 6. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. Best looking SUV presently.. but could eventually be overhauled by Stelvio. Cabin is alright if a little bit conservative, at least everything from instruments/gauges to all the main controls are legible and within easy access. Not sure about mixing that awful brown with the black interior and red exterior paint, it just doesn't gel. Engine sounds coarse and looks like it's struggling to speed up from 50-to-100 there. Overall another top review Thomas.. and keep warm.
I think the center stack has too many buttons. The infotainment system is way too complicated. Looks like one would need to watch a demonstration video just to use the climate controls. Hopefully the people who buy it won't try to use many of the features while driving, it would be very distracting.

Leather just looks better. And napa leather feels very good too. You will not stick to napa leather seat. Quality leather seats will not wear out. You seem like a nice person, but please stick to reviewing cars and don't lecture people.

I didn't watch the video. Not a fan of animal torture. I kind of agree that if you eat meat, you have to watch a video from the slaughter house. Alfa Romeo Stelvio will be the best in the class as the Quadrifoglio version is way sportier even than the macan turbo s.

yes. i spend about 2-3 hours in traffic every day. to and from work. sooo Diesel it is, right?

So was I but, unlike the F Pace, the external appearance is a bit of a disappointment, particularly the rear end with the off-centre number plate. There doesn't seem to be any compelling reason for that, so I assume they think it looks good whereas I think it looks terrible.

BTW, I'm not very convinced with the digital instruments. They look so flat, don't you think? Also, when you're driving against the sun there's a moment (c.a. 30min on your video) when the instruments just disappear for a few seconds - I suppose this is just the camera's record but what's the real vew like in such conditions?

The 2D logo looks as if someone cut a piece of plexiglass and covered the emblem. 3D better but you loose the sensors, Bummer!

You can change the interior ambient light if you have the option fixed it in the car (here is Spain is an option, I think in the S model is standard). If it is standard, you have to go to the main menu to the second screen (turn left the main menu) and then you have it and can change the color and the intensity. It is like an app.

By the way, for the acceleration test, you have not put the gearbox in "S" Sport position, it improves the gear selection for sports driving

First to the practical reasons:
1. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat
2. they are cold in winter
3. on cloth or microfibre, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling
4. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like granny’s old sofa
5. if you want leather look, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review) So Tesla shows that the discussion wether you need animal skin is basically done.
Still, now to the environmental reasons:
1. There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body.
2. The way the cows are held are catastrophic (see videos below)
3. Even if a cow gets killed for meat first, you give additional money to an industry that relies on murder, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals.
4. Does it really matter for which cause a mammal, that is 99 % genetically identical with us, gets killed? Would you say a cow only got slaughtered for the meat in the leg and thus it got slaughtered for the meat in the neck anyway? That doesn’t make sense.
5. So to the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/
6. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. The butcher tells him: "It's not your fault, the cow was slaughtered for the belly". An the next customer demands the hide, what answer does he get? You see, that argument of "byproduct" comes from the meat and leather industry to cover that you contribute to killing no matter which part of the body you buy.

Best looking SUV presently.. but could eventually be overhauled by Stelvio. Cabin is alright if a little bit conservative, at least everything from instruments/gauges to all the main controls are legible and within easy access.
Not sure about mixing that awful brown with the black interior and red exterior paint, it just doesn't gel.
Engine sounds coarse and looks like it's struggling to speed up from 50-to-100 there.
Overall another top review Thomas.. and keep warm.

Interior looks rather cheap...Exterior look nice.
I think the center stack has too many buttons. The infotainment system is way too complicated. Looks like one would need to watch a demonstration video just to use the climate controls. Hopefully the people who buy it won't try to use many of the features while driving, it would be very distracting.

Leather just looks better. And napa leather feels very good too. You will not stick to napa leather seat. Quality leather seats will not wear out. You seem like a nice person, but please stick to reviewing cars and don't lecture people.
