CLIP DESCRIPTION:
When Starman (Jeff Bridges) brings a deer back to life, he's attacked by a trio of deer hunters, until Jenny (Karen Allen) fires the gun to scare them off.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Having crashed to Earth, an extraterrestrial space traveller must assume a human identity lest he be captured by the authorities. The alien (Jeff Bridges) chooses the likeness of the recently deceased husband of Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen). At first dumbstruck, Jenny becomes both hostile toward and frightened of her guest. He gradually wins her confidence, learning a few vital English-language phrases so that he can explain his presence. The "starman" has come to Earth with a message of peace, in response to the similar message sent out on Voyager One. He asks for Jenny's help in transporting him to the Nevada desert, where his fellow aliens are to pick him up and take him to his home planet. Soon he and Jenny form a united front against a mean-spirited National Security Council agent (Richard Jaeckel), who intends to seize the starman and turn him over for scientific scrutiny (and possible extermination). While en route to Nevada, Jenny grows closer to the gentle-natured Starman, eventually making love with him. By the time he is poised to leave, she is carrying his child, leaving the field wide open for a sequel--which was never produced, though a weekly TV version surfaced in 1986.

Years ago, I watched this with my parents. All of us cried.
RIP mum and dad. I love you.
❤❤❤
Sweet
your comment made me cry...
@@wolverine4800 😘
One of my parents favorites movies. I finally watched it as an adult and I understand.
One of the best ever films. Criminally underrated.
Absolutley underrated!
But not 'criminally'
yeah but that's just like your opinion man. ;)
One of the best movies ever.
My mum loved this film :-) miss u mum xx
Take a moment to appreciate Jeff's facial acting here, notice how as he's getting punched he looks totally confused as well as in pain - much like the deer he saved, he has no idea why they're attacking him or what he's experiencing. Made the scene all the more sad and emotional.
You mean to say he’s good at his craft?
Got it
This is one of Carpenter's finest films. It's not just a superior sci-fi movie, but a great love story as well. This scene is among my favorites. Just beautiful...
One of the best movies I have ever seen never tire of watching it. " I mean you no harm Jenny Haydn" "Love is when you care for somebody more than you"
That music theme is always so haunting but a beauty.
This movie was a gem in the 80s and seen it hundred times
Tight jeans a big gun and Flashdance hair yeah I loved Karen Allen!!!
She was cute. There is an earlier scene.
Such a great movie, Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen are wonderful in it.
I love the music. It says a lot about what's happening in the film.
These melodies rip you apart
Vladimír Dvořák Y E S...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was smart of her to get the gun. Fools like that won't react to words or pleas.
Am i the only one who cried in this scene?
The Starman meets the native life forms.
Why is there water flowing from my eyes?
Some movies and songs are simply anointed. :)
The mean deer hunter in this scene, is Ted White. He actually played JASON in Friday the 13th the final chapter AKA Jason part 4. *Now you Know* (music)
And almost quit during during production because of how the director was treating Judie Aronson. When she was swimming nude in the lake she was beginning to suffer hypothermia from the cold and was crying and begging to be allowed to exit the water. When she was told no, Ted White who played Jason demanded that she receive care or he would quit the movie.
@@kagemaru259 True heart is ted
@@kagemaru259 He is also Marine who fought during Iwo Jima and a football star at the University of Oklahoma! God bless him!!!
The best actor to ever play Jason
This was filmed right as you come off Monteagle going towards Chattanooga TN
The resturant and bus stop is long gone, but the gas station at the top of the hill is still there.
John Carpenter is my favorite director. He also proves you don't need the backing of a massive studio and huge budget. You just need an imagination. I always said if he had total control and bigger budgets at the time he would make Spielberg, Lucas and Coppola look like amateurs
I wouldn't go that far, but he would definitely be at the same level.
Really makes you think about how we treat people who don’t know better and are trying to be nice.
TheGooners11 that and we’re also jerks
Been there....
So true
Some keep our race in brutality
Damn I’ve seen this umpteen times still gets me
Love how the starman spits, same as trucker!! FUNNY!!
dude imagine there being a race of intelligent beings out there that can bring a dead animal or even a person back to life like he did
Those are called healers I have that power I brought back Wes Craven, Heath Ledger, Robin Williams , Paul Walker and anothers.
@@marcogarza3720 Sure you did 👌😝
I'm not sure if Starman could actually bring dead animals/people back to life, remember he said he himself would die if he didn't make it to Arizona to meet his people at the rendezvous point. The short lived TV series expanded on his abilities with the sphere a bit more, it works like heat energy, and he can only heal people or animals if he knows what's wrong with them and they are not at a point that's beyond saving. The deer was seriously wounded, but it wasn't dead.
hmm Jesus and his apostles didn't bother with animals
@@marcogarza3720 hmm interesting. Can you cure my internal sadness and cure my trust issues?
Yeah whatever
A pivotal moment of a terrific film .Great performances and a touching , emotional and exciting story .
Life is so precious and the gesture by an advanced being to return it to life says volumes about who we should be but are falling short of that understanding. I don't think we realize what life is or how precious it is, because we literally live in the moment. To see a gentle animal like that killed would be sad for someone to see. He demonstrated that love because he felt empathy. I wish we sometimes could instead of some jerk wanting to hurt mass numbers of people.
While the Starman cloned Scott, he could never be Scott. He is at a place where we hope we can be but aren't yet. Maybe technology isn't advancing us. Maybe we need to advance ourselves in the way we think. This "advancement" we have can be gone in an instant.
Yes, life is precious. My family, specifically, is precious to me. Therefore I must make sure they're fed. That's where the deer comes into play.
@@sid2112 I understand that truth too. What amazed me in the movie was the value of life and the inability to understand why people hunt. Stronger killing weaker. To an advanced alien species, we are very primitive and still wild animals because it is how our world works and what we need to do in order to survive.
@@johnthomsen8802 The scene bothered me because as a hunter I wouldn't do that. Nor would any hunter I know. Most of them would ask if he knew Jesus personally.
In a time when most 9f our food is artificially processed and available in supermarkets, there's no need to go out killing animals
And, I don't care if it's some primitive tradition or 'being a man' crap
Nobody talks about the women of the 1980s. They are literally Roses.
If they were "literally" roses, they'd have petals, thorns and be dead in under a week.
I love this movie!
I don´t understand why this movie failed in 1984.I mean,it´so beautiful man.
Because it was up against close encounters of the third kind
@@stepppppppppten You're off by seven years. "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" came out in 1977.
This gives me chills...
The moment she realized how wrong she was about him.
this still makes cry😢😢 0:01 0:17
What the hell was that pick up line???
I saw this flipping channels when I was a kid, but could really only remember this one scene. I wasn't sure of the name of the movie but searching for man revives deer with powers got me here. Thankfully its a notable scene lmao.
One thing I love about the internet is that it's like that one guy you know who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of movies and can tell you the exact title, who stars in it, and it's year of release with only a vague description of a single scene.
“S’cuse me mish. You shtrike me as a mee’eater. I could fix ya up with a haunch of venishon. Maybe’even a shot o’ pork” This is going to be my new pickup line. Thank you Wyoming Truck Stop Guy!
Saw it years ago and think it's a fine film. Jeff Bridges puts in a unique performance!
To be fair though, any hunter would be pissed if someone stole their deer. Sure, he didn't actually steal it, but the hunter didn't know that
Then, don't kill the damn thing
A healer and a light worker
favorite human emotion
This was the first movie we rented on VHS at my parents house. And this is the only scene I remember from this movie!
Its really beautiful story. I love it
WOW!!! I remember this.
Smack! BINGO! 'Splurts' just fell off my chair laughing lol
You mean "booth" right?
a favorite movie, not a flaw anywhere except for the human frailty
She only has 7 shots in that thing, and she wasted 3 to shoot the sky.
For all these years I never knew that the guy who played the mean deer hunter was the same actor who played Jason in Friday The 13th part 4. I've watched both movies since I was 5
Non-stop? Wow, you must really love those movies.
@@Trev0r98 nice
That guy is Ted White, there is a book called "Cast a Giant Shadow" about his stunt and acting career. Amazing read.
@@heffphilatHe died in October 2022 at the age of 96.
He was also in Romancing the Stone the same year as this (1984) as the evil cowboy in the beginning and he was in Against All Odds with Jeff Bridges again.
I like the feathers as the deer runs off (I think they were in Jeff's hand).
Green means go. Red means stop . Yellow means go very fast ! He learned very quickly
Una scena meravigliosa 💕
"... Maybe a shot of Pork ..." - uh-huh!
That's hilarious now that I see it in print.
"Hey!"
👊
@@TravonJamelGreen I love that scene!
Me too!
This scene was shot on I -24 just before you go up Monteagle mtn. in Tennessee not far from where I live
If he had just told that guy, take it easy with a thumbs up, different outcome, you think!?
Is that Ted White who played Jason from Friday the 13 the Final Chapter?
You bet it is!
He presents humanity at it's best, saving the deer killed for fun, by so-called humans ,YUK and Yikes.
Hunters also eat deer to sweetie
.
@@RudeRaptor they also hang their heads as decoration?
That's not fair to hunters. This guy is a creepizoid, but that's a different issue. Hunters are among the greatest conservationists and most appreciate more than the average supermarket shopper where their food comes from and the animals that provide it.
That man that started fight is Ted white Jason Voorhees
Great 1980's feel good movie.
Watched this umpteen times I know it’s coming but I still blub
Deer Hunter and Flashdance are Great movies Too.
And as the deer ran across the highway, smack! Semi hits it, can’t escape fate…🤪
Karen Allen...She's hot and cool!
yes soulful performance who would of thought if from the cheeky scamp from Indiana Jones who could drink you under the table
Love this movie! It's my favorite!
The best scene ever
Interesting Big Lebowski prequel
This. Was filmed in Battle creek, Tn.
R.I.P. Ted White
I 2nd that. Loved his small jerky performance in this. Id always spit and say "Bingo"
Sweet mustang!
I love this scene. :(
The Dude vs Jason
1:25: careful, man, there's a beverage here!
(the hunters captured starman and punches him few times)
"I'm gonna tear you loose from your hinges boy" 1:41
(Jenny fires her gun three times and Said) "pick up your garbage and get going!" 😠
I like this movie.
BINGO!
Great movie! 👍🏻
I lived in Winslow Arizona where they filmed part of it they're going to use my Mom's restaurant for the truck stop seeing but her restaurant was too small
I hate hunters.
And maybe they hate you.
The other hunters were just as bad as the main one. They didn't stop to think that maybe they shouldn't be doing that.
he went there, to the woods, oh yeah like he's gonna believe that lol
*she went there
He really punch him out cuz he wearing a let make America great again cap.
And thats why he wins in the end.
I don't know about that buddy lol 😆 👽
Bingo
just when will humanity get together like in the move to fight out the real starman from the face of this earth forever and ever?
No way that dude punching his stomach would hit that hard lmao, he would break his hand on the first.
Bingo!
I LOVE THAT MOVIE!...... AMEN! ;)
R.I.P Ted White .
Man how could an alien get beaten easily
Starman bested Jason
Ok so now everyone knows, oh and my big fat lip
Did this movie rip off the diner scene from Superman 2? Because I think it did!
No, because Clark didn’t land a punch on Rocky like Starman did. Also, Rocky didn’t have a group of friends to gang up on Clark, and also also, Lois didn’t use a gun. I don’t see any similarities between this and Superman 2.
@@ericabbey1863 No similarities, huh?
Jenny Hayden: “Pick up your garbage and get going!”
Clark Kent: “Gee, that’s funny. I’ve never seen garbage eat garbage before.”
0:33 dialog with a mouth full of snuff
Michael Cimino wanted Jeff Bridges and Roy Scheider he got Christopher Walken and Robert De Niro
❤ 2:27 🦌
You can tell that when he punched him that the guy must've been squatting down to make the fall on his back from the punch which was almost impact-less. It's framed and timed very well though still. If you pause at 1:14 you can see the guy squatting, acting like he's been hit. 2 different shots.
What are you Jewish or something.
Jason voorhees is the hunter who hits star man XD
Starring Geri Dickinson
Jason Voorhees part 4
Touching movie scene. But the deer would have been gutted in the words before being strapped to the the hunter's vehicle.
I never did like the start of Bambi.
do not touch that deer a gain. or...
It’s a great movie but a field dressed deer isn’t going to reanimate.
That offhand comment-"shot of pork"- has always bothered me for some reason.
I wonder what his true form is?
For an alien he's not very tough, I thought he would drive the deer hunters to the ground.
He’s not supposed to be tough. He’s a peaceful lifeform who doesn’t understand our ways and he only uses force when it’s a matter of life and death.
The hammer on that 45 should have been in the cocked position after firing, not forward.....I hate when they dont do guns correctly!
This is my favorite scene from this movie. I hate hunters. Having worked in a grocery store before I know how many animals are thrown in the trash every day. People leave steak in the bed sheets because they're too lazy to put it back. So many animals are born, raised & killed just to be thrown in the garbage because they didn't get bought for someone's dinner & have passed the expiry date or because some idiot left their chicken nuggets in the dvd players etc... In every grocery store in every town in every state every day. There's no reason to go out & kill more of them. If you're lost in the woods & starving, fine, but there's no other legitimate reason for it.

@@matthewalston1226 you must be a hunter. I love how you people get so offended because someone doesn't share your opinion. Try not to be so closed minded. Might be that you need help being less intractable with your superiority issues.
