As for the cards itself, it won't sell much if specific age is limited. They signed that contract of censorship to be able to sell even to minors without breaking the law. In the end, it's all money even if the anime is intended for teens, having it available for kids too could expand the amount of cash international. It won't be too famous around the world without the censorship just like some anime is limited to view by any audience.

Children are pretty morbid in general, the "tales to tell in the dark" book use to be a huge hit among exactly children, and it had some gruesome art, and of course, it got censored too, recently. I think they attempted to bring back the more mature theme to it with 5D, but I can't say because I never got a chance to watch it out. But for me battle city will always be the best of them all.

I actually like many of the altered cards. The artists did a great job. I understand why some are censored, but I don't understand why halos are removed and mid-riffs covered.
I agree. Taking out the cleavage and replacing g-strings with shorts or quilts doesn't bother me. And honestly, the Emperor having a shirt on is an improvement. The halos being removed are a mystery to me, though

I remember the Harpie Girl change well. Along with the other Harpie card changes. I used to trade my censored Harpie's, (although always keeping one censored one) with the uncensored versions if peeps held any. As an American, I really hate other Americans who think they need to censor everything because they might offend someone or themselves, so having the uncensored versions was always important to me.
Also I never noticed the change on the Dark Magician Family cards. So now I have to go back and look.
So that's why yugioh cards are not meant for children.

But the fact that they alter the ankh symbol in Egyptian based cards as the symbol of life, I DON'T understand. What's the point in that? It's not even a religious ordeal, It's just "an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic ideograph with the meaning 'life'." That throws me for a loop.
Also, why take off the halo, but not the wings that go with the angelic-looking cards? They are gonna censor those types of cards, they are basically saying "Angels are a no-go, but winged monsters are A-OK~" Most of these cards (all of them in my opinion) were stupidly censored because of over-protective adults for a trading card game.

I prefer the Western Monster Reborn over the Japanese one XD Also I like the American version of Barrel Dragon, even though the Japanese one is cool too and makes more sense. Also, Mystic Tomato looks 10 times more horrific in the Western art.

Honestly, some of the skirt lengthenings, bust reductions, and cleavage erasures were improvements. A lot of the original cards are just so ridiculous that it's distracting. e.g. It's hard to look at Dark Magician Girl without wondering why she's wearing a push-up bra into battle or why all these monsters have chests full of silicone.
I have been searching comment sections for ages and you're the first person I've come across who shares that opinion with me.
Some of these were pretty odd. Some of these were pretty poorly edited. All of these art pieces reminded me how good the Yu-Gi-Oh monsters look.
