You are amazing. These docs are so well structured, so dramatic. You make such powerful choices. The use of " Beware Of Young Girls" at the end was absolutely brilliant.
I am going to offer a bit of criticism here though. You have done a great job here in this installment and the previous one with presenting Woody in a full bodied , substantive way. We really get a sense of his intellect and artistry. I don't think you quite achieved that in your Howard Stern doc. You focused on his dysfunctional childhood and all the outrageous, controversial stuff in his career. Howard was a very innovative broadcaster. Howard had a very loose, spontaneous show that was almost like a TH-cam channel, which was a sharp contrast to the other much more polished and stiff TV and radio programming of the 80's and 90's.. Reducing Howard to the label of shock jock kind of minimizes his accomplishments. Considering how many times you use clips of his interviews in your other docs, I would have expected you to have covered him in a more 3 dimensional way.
I am not hating. Again, you are great at compiling clips and structuring very compelling films. You have a great voice too. You are talented. Just giving my two cents..,🙂🙂🙂😎

@@betheecommentator You deserve all the praise I have given you. Thank you for considering my feedback. As I have reflected on this, another great funny amazing thing about Howard's radio show was, he was so candid about his own home life. I don't just mean salacious stuff. He would frequently call his wife or parents on the phone live on the air and confront them about silly family arguments, etc. 😂 He was also so open about the goings on with his cast, crew and guests behind the scenes. So innovative. You felt like you were a part of the creation of the show. I know Howard was ambitious and did a lot of outrageous things that put him more in the public eye, but even without all the racy humor, his show was like nothing else on radio. He would walk into his Boss's office or call his boss into the studio to argue about some grievance and, all the while, even when he was kind of yelling, you could tell he was joking.. There was no one like him back then..Lots of people would try to copy him in the 80's and 90's but they would just be mean and vulgar. Howard was much more than that... End of rant .. Thank you ☺️☺️☺️☺️

My mum was born in 1960 and my dad in 1950 and the stories they have both told me are shocking. Women went for little boys too. It's just literally not acknowledged. Society is barely catching up now too. There are so many people who still genuinely think that rping or SAing or grooming kids is okay.
Where I live in the uk it's still semi normalised. There are still grown men who date 16/17 year olds, cause here, the age of consent is 16. So these men find 0 issue with it. It's insane.

About Mia Farrow’s parenting: I live on the UWS of Manhattan, and I read several blogs from people who remember her back in the 70s/80s/90s and they said she would always be seen walking with all her kids but for whatever reason she would walk really fast and look straight ahead, and quite a few of the smaller kids would be left behind for a block or so. It was like she only thought that she was the only one there and didn’t even pay any mind to any of the kids with her. She didn’t even look back to see if they were okay. The older kids or passersby would have to help the kids catch up to Mia, and she didn’t even seem to notice that they were having trouble catching up to her, especially the kids with disabilities. The passersby would look at the doorman of the buildings on Central Park West in shock or confusion but the doormen didn’t know what to do. They just all tried their best to keep those kids not too far from Mia. 🤷🏾‍♀️ honestly I think she was too focused on Woody and making a blended family with him than to pay closer attention to her kids.

@@MeeplandHeightsIt sounds like Mia is a narcissist and the children were basically props for her. The way Howard Stern and Rosie O'Donnell make Mia seem like this saint for adopting children from mostly developing countries, many with disabilities. You can see in that what Mia got out of all of this. At home, I believe Mia got some kind of satisfaction from the control. The children were often severely disciplined - I think Moses had a story of how Mia yelled at him and slapped him and shook him I think, and then forced a "confession" from him all over some tape measure that workmen at the house had left, or something along those lines. All I can remember is the excessive response and the forcing of Moses to "admit" somethinf which wasn't true but what Mia had said had happened. This leads me to believe that thiz kind of pressure was exerted on Dylan to produce those allegations.
When I think of Mia's behavior it somewhat reminded me of my father in that he was seemingly so nice in public, to other people, to other people's kids. But at home, he was often really horrible, emotionally abusive though not physically, manipulative, and we were props to be paraded out to others for our achievements.
But he was always extremely nice to other people.

    • @SY-ok2dq
      @SY-ok2dq 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

@@MeeplandHeights There are a lot of parents who are like this, to a greater or lesser degree.
Many of these people are most likely narcissistic personality types, which I believe Mia Farrow is too.
Quite possibly she saw behavior like this in her home, maybe her mother the actress Maureen O'Sullivan. Mia grew up with many siblings, as her Catholic mother gave birth to many - 6? - children, with her husband, the director John Farrow. Since Farrow died when Mia was still quite young, I assume that Maureen was the bigger influence on Mia and her siblings (Mia's brother is serving a prison term for sexual assault on young boys). Since Mia replicated the large family that she grew up in, it's quite possible that Mia also replicated the child-rearing behavior of her own mother.

You showing all sides of views is honestly the best thing about this channel. Quite often these people will just come out and say what they've done and what goes through their mind because they either don't think it's wrong or are so full of themselves they think they're untouchable even when admitting everything.
Also it's important to remember that these are human being who chose to do what they've done and anyone could do the same if they were so awful. They might seem totally nice, hell they might be nice to anyone who isn't their victim, but knowing their red flags and seeing them as rounded people and understanding them is how we protect ourselves and help put a stop to them and people like them in the future. By painting people as all evil we sometimes miss red flags in people in our own lives because there is some good in them

Woody’s description of how Mia was when Roman was born sounds like a lot of needy, maybe narcissistic men react when a child is born. They hate the attention the baby gets.
I think there is truth somewhere in the middle of what Mia and Woody say, I can’t fully take at face value what Mia says. But I believe little of what Woody says. He is the one that married the very young women who had, for all intents and purposes, had been his step daughter for 13 years. That fact alone makes me lean very strongly to what Mia says. I believe Mia Farrow said this as yet another arrow aimed at the heart of Woody Allen: "oh by the way, I cheated on you ans you never had a clue! Oh and that's probably not your son!" The reason why she feels safe in saying this NOW is that Ronan is all grown up and looks nothing like Allen (but more like Mia and her father, the BLOND John Farrow). Sinatra had dark blue eyes and dark hair. Ronan has pale blue eyes and fair hair like his grandfather.

I find it ludicrous how Woody, in defense of his dating “preferences,” cited Mia as an example of an “age appropriate” relationship. All of the dysfunction, even before the events of the downfall of their relationship, suggest that Mia was still emotionally vulnerable, and he took advantage of that, and was allowed to be apathetic (and more) throughout their relationship, until he just checked out completely and crossed a line she finally couldn’t ignore. Her background, from the fraught family dynamics to her past relationship choices, much-older men, suggest she was looking to be nurtured, and she would gradually turn from romantic partners to mass-adopting kids to fill the void, even if it just made things more dysfunctional.

I just read this and I think you're wrong about Mia Farrow. Yes, she has her issues. But she is extremely manipulative and narcissistic, and has seemingly no moral compunctions if she decides she wants something. She wormed her way into the Previn household, pretending to be friends with Dory Previn, and then she had an affair with Andre Previn, got pregnant and Previn left Dory for Farrow. Dory was left in a terrible state, and she suffered from depression. What kind of friend does that?
Also, it would seem that Farrow still saw Frank Sinatra, unbeknownst to Allen, whilst she and Allen were a couple.
It should be remembered that Farrow had 4 biological children of her own: 3 with Previn and 1 with Allen. According to some of the adopted children, these biological children were treated very much preferentially.

If anything, Farrow played Allen. Not the other way around.
The affair with Soon-Yi was not a calculated move on Allen's part. But possibly, it was on Soon-Yi's part (Soon-Yi and Farrow were constantly at odds with each other, and Soon-Yi felt that she and her other adopted sisters had been treated like servants and nannies, at Farrow's beck and call). I believe Allen simply fell for Soon-Yi, and clearly didn't think through the consequences.

To suggest Soon-Yi could be in any way “calculated,” especially in comparison to a woman she considered a mother figure, in apparently seducing a man who could be her father, is absolutely disturbing, and removes Woody’s fault from this. *Both* of them need to own up to any damage they’ve done to Soon-Yi, Dylan, Moses, and any other of the kids involved, and how dare you suggest otherwise and romanticize a clearly disgusting relationship.

And so would you be prepared to sit in a jail for days, to have a criminal record? And so you think that would change Allen? He's married now and he and Soon-Yi have adopted kids. Nothing that can be done now.
How about people focus on Roman Polanski? A guy wh WAS charged by the police and who decided to skip out at the last minute when he realized that the judge might actually make him serve a prison sentence ( I think Polanski had thought up to that point thay he would get a suspended sentence or something and not do time as he had pleaded guilty I think).
Don't forget that Mia Farrow has repeatedly stated her support for, her respect for, her former director Polanski. She still supports him and considers him a friend. Excellent storytelling as always! I did feel like the Allen v Farrow show was eye opening but somewhat biased (obviously) as it was all Farrow's family and friends and their points of view. But I always suspected something was wrong with Mia as she's a child hoarder, and that particular personality trait has always rubbed me the wrong way. People like her are always lionized in the media (see Rosie and Howard going on and on about it) but hoarding of any sort is problematic and when you get your jollies from 'saving' disabled foreign kids, that's kind of a bridge too far. Of her 14 children, some no longer speak to her/speak poorly of her publicly, two committed suicide, one is married to Woody, another was molested by Woody... that's a pretty stark number of problems from one mom. I don't for a second think she's the angel everyone thinks she is.
But that doesn't for a second mean I don't think that Woody is the bigger creep and problem in this equation. I was quite startled that even after he started behaving so grossly towards Dylan, Mia STILL WANTED TO HAVE MORE KIDS WITH HIM. SMH. Her desire to hoard kids despite all circumstances speaks volumes about her addiction. I also don't for a second believe Ronan is Woody's bio kid. The pictures say it all.

When I read her autobiography, I found her convincing until I got to the end. She claims she didn't pursue criminal charges against Woody because she wanted to spare Dylan...but that makes no sense to me. If he's a pedophile, why wouldn't she want to protect other kids from becoming victims? And if she really wanted to protect Dylan from having to relive the trauma why would she constantly give interviews about it? She didn't say anything when he had other babies of his own (possible victims, no?), she only speaks up when he's praised about his career. Not to mention she didn't strike me as particularly protective over Soon Yi, who was still her kid. I mean, she didn't hesitate in letting everyone know all the details about her relationship. She's also proud of her friendship with Roman Polanski, who admits to being a child rapist, and has defended him several times in the past. No one ever questions her about it for some reason. I think Woody was gross for pursuing a relationship with Soon Yi, specially since she was so young, but I'm just not convinced he molested his daughter.

I've never watched Allen's films, and I'm almost 67 yrs old. There's so much to unpack in these 2 videos, I'll wait until #3 or when you feel as though you're finished documenting it. Some je ne sais qua is missing from Allen's teenage years.
My fathers sister married a police detective who gave us all the creeps. All of us girl cousins used to run away from him. My aunt was saint-like and oblivious. His oldest son became a psychiatrist and divorced his family. His second son went into the medical field as a nurse and died of AIDS. Likely, he was gay, but covertly, so I don't know for sure. The fraternal twin boys were like night and day. One wanted to be the Pope (overtly gay) , the other, became a fireman. The only girl ŵas 4 years my senior and protected me.
My point here is that we listened to and acted on our gut feelings.
Back in the day, a 16 year old girl was far more mature than today's girl. Women are designed to mature earlier.
Today, they are called children. Our society infantalizes teenage boys, when they should be undergoing rigorous, mandatory training in Manhood and control of their urges, violent or otherwise. Teach them how to cook and clean. Things changed dramatically during my years as a teen and a mother. It was very confusing, taking years of therapy and inner work to grasp. Many women experienced the same thing but perhaps not the degree of physical abuse I got daily. I knew that I would have a major inner battle raising my son alone, and had a great support network at the ready. I had to know myself, and learn what love was. REAL love.
So far, I can't see any of that with Allen and Farrow. The children might as well be appliances. A CS abuser 99% of the time is a victim before being a predator. Attention being sexual only, teaches a warped experience of lust, not love. What an awful FUBAR those 2 created. Thank you for your deep dive, although there are missing details that may not be available.
Mia is a mess. Want 9 kids? Stay home and raise them!
Having that many therapists/psychiatrists is too many chefs in the kitchen.🚩
At 20 yrs old, my live-in and work partner was 18 years my senior. He was truly good for me.
I've had lovers who were much younger than me too (not MY IDEA!) but no one left warped or hurt. I encouraged younger women for them to no avail. That option was never mentioned to me when I was younger.
In the future, these men will be considerate wife pleasers, and no fetuses were aborted in these relationships. Ever. One lasted 7 happy years. A lovely 93 yr old friend had a sweet affair. Her guy loved older women!
Sorry for the rant, everyone. Power is the red line not to cross.
