    Found a brand new denim colored linen shirt at the thrift store for 11 dollars. 👍
    Wear it with dark denim skinny guess jeans ($3) and a navy cotton crew neck sweater ($6) on top. So a casual outfit for $20 in total. ☺️👍

      You go girl!! I get so excited about bargains. I got on Poshmark last year the first thing I bought was a banana republic trench coat for $18 and white converse leather sneakers for $3.00 both in new condition. I occasionally buy new but I first look for it used and in good condition. It’s always good when someone else pay’s the higher price for us. My favorite was wearing $15 dress to my niece’s party. I received many compliments. My niece was told that I was the prettiest at her party. My in laws bought $200 dresses and spent so much on false eye lashes, nails and hair. I don’t wear anything false just natural hair down with pin on the side, natural make up and red nails. I spend on skin care and massages.
      It’s not how much you spend, it’s how you wear it 😉.

    Thanks to you, I realize I have a million different outfits using things I already own. I just need somewhere to wear them. (Married, retired, Midwestern USA…). No pencil shirt and heels needed for the grocery store!

    • @polishtheday
      @polishtheday 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I mostly wore jeans and t-shirts to work before I retired (big West Coast city where the style was outdoorsy and yoga wear). I’m now in a bigger city further east and dress quite differently because of the weather. I collect outerwear and winter boots because that’s all anyone sees me in for four or five months of the year. In the summer, I wear dresses more because of the heat and humidity, jeans in more moderate weather. People dress less casual here. My outdoorsy and yoga wear is now only for walking in the park and trips to the gym or local grocery. I’ve always been a thrift shop enthusiast and used to look for more business casual things at Value Village in Victoria, British Columbia, which back then was a city where people went to retire and consequently where those of my parents’ generation gave away the suits they had worn to work. Value Village was a terrific place to find a nice blazer. Because of this, I assumed that in retirement my wardrobe would lean towards the casual. Instead, it’s a mixture of casual and something a bit less so. I didn’t realise the affect the climate and the culture around you had on your choice of clothes. Anyway, I’m enjoying planning what to wear, whether it’s for a summer outdoor concert, a nice brunch or a visit to the museum.
      If you still like to dress up do you think some of your friends would like to too? Even if you’re in a smaller midwestern town there must be a place for brunch and coffee. You could create occasions where you go out together and dress up a bit just because.

    Topic suggestion: how to gain confidence to wear whatever you feel like, be unique, and stand out, when you are person who doesn't feel comfortable with attracting attention.
    I live in the US. In the area where I live, where I moved to recently, people don't make much effort to look good. I don't dress like I just walked out of a catalogue 🙂 but I do like to put some effort into it. At the same time, I try not to attract attention, and these two things can clash and cause dilemmas. Overall, I want to be more free and confident, not care so much what others think. Any specific, actionable advice?

    • @1chicgeek368
      @1chicgeek368 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I understand what you mean. I used to live in Los Angeles and felt comfortable with whatever I wore. I am now in a mid-sized midwestern city where almost no one dresses up, except occasionally for church. I thought the world was too casual before the pandemic; now it seems no one cares. And I have never been a blue jeans person; so how to put together outfits that don't include denim!😄 audacious55 I feel your pain💛

    • @raineyd4842
      @raineyd4842 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can understand how that might feel a bit uncomfortable but we should try to overcome that by being ourselves and wear what makes us look and feel good. Who knows, perhaps you’ll start a new trend in your hometown. 🤗

    • @sabrinaferguson
      @sabrinaferguson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I hear you. I live in a beach area of greater Sydney in Australia. Dressing is very casual here as a rule; I've seen a few of 'us' who like to dress smartly on everyday business, eg grocery shopping, but we are in the minority. I'm happy to dress like a Parisian (unless I'm off to the beach) and don't give a hoot what others think. Maybe me and my minority friends can make a change? LOL!

    • @ms.frederique
      @ms.frederique  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you darling for being so candid! Just be you my love 🥰 and wear what you like! When you know you are looking good, it boosts your confidence! 💗

    • @polishtheday
      @polishtheday 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s a fantastic suggestion for a topic. I live in a city where you see people dressed up down town but in a neighbourhood that’s slowly gentrifying and where it’s much different. At first I felt strange dressing up to go downtown because I had to walk about a kilometre to the rapid transit station. Sometimes I felt people were looking at me. Maybe I looked different because of the way I was dressed? I don’t like to call attention to myself so it was a bit unnerving.
      One day I had to go across town on a hot, humid day. I was going to be teaching for a couple of hours so I wore a dress and went out in that to walk the dog before leaving. Much to my surprise, I got three compliments from complete strangers while just walking around the block. They were given nicely. I have no reason to think they were anything but genuine. Since then, I’ve been much more relaxed going out “overdressed”. I’ve noticed that although I’m in the minority, I’m not alone. I’ve even caught myself taking peeks of nicely dressed people walking by or on transit. I’ve been doing this my whole life. There are TH-cam channels for those of us who like to people watch. Maybe it’s not such a bad thing after all. It could be the start of something. As someone has already suggested, by dressing better you’ll be setting an example for others.

    I just bought a beige blazer from Von Muir and I love it for cool spring days. Probably is too casual with my linen cream color pants? I really need a stretchy Black blazer for everything!
    2. I just bought a black blazer at Kohls actually, but it's too dressy for most things!!😮 Help! I'm looking for a classy but casual black blazer. I've looked everywhere in around Ann Arbor.

    My tan x body vegetable dyed leather bag. This looks fabulous with trenches, goes with all colours.
    I’m in the U.K. but I was in Sydney, Northern Beaches, earlier on this year. I bought a bag by JuJu. Bought in Balgowlah and this bag was made nearby. Not fancy, just superb quality - not cheap either but gorgeous. These naturally dyed bags just go with everything, the colour and the leather just age beautifully.
    Nice jeans, a good tee and a trench ….

Can’t wait for an autumn video, so I can use your tips to wear my favorite stuff during our one week of fall😂

    Dear Frederique we enjoyed ur video again! U look s amazing in blouse and blazer and in single too! Omg! In that singlet u look like a 20 years old woman! It fits u very well. The black outfit do as well, amazing black leather skirt, but no black top that make the people older! Here the women after 40 are complaining in the changing room there is no exciting clother for them in there size! Only S, M L. And yes, those shops are selling mainly to young woman, but the elder ladies doesnt happy with few selection of old mamy clothes! There are elegant wear shops for them, yes of course those clothes cost more, the age isnt enough punishment, the shops charge them as well! :S And its true more years a woman elder, she need to wear more elegant to look better! And i see it on the streets in the cities! 50 years old women get themself suffered by high heel shoes! Omg! Maybe a facelift would be better then they can wear anything!

I love my white jeans, but if I am going to be outside for more than two minutes, I have a pair of white linen pants that flow and feel much cooler than jeans. She looks super fit! She’s got better arms then me and I’m 35! I would like to know where can I purchase an authentic Breton top? I live in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 I think I might have to get one online… I really like the story behind them and now the sailors wore them. This is quite fascinating for me as my grandfather was French and from Normandy and I am ex Navy.

    On the lookout for white jeans. I already have some..2 pair…..but I’m discontented with them. They fit well and don’t look awful, yet I’m not in love with them. But I haven’t given up my search. I just know MY pair is out there. 🥰🇺🇸

    Largely agreed. White jeans, a light blue linen shirt, a midi skirt, scarfs, linen pants, a colorful handbag (I’ve been carrying a small Dooney & Bourke satchel in tomato red which is a bright orangey/coralish red), a light cardigan, a light linen blazer, and pops of color are essentials.
    I’ve somehow never owned a trench coat.

    My favourite spring piece is a T-shirt of floral design and a lot of joyful jewels (or a combination of bracelets or necklaces)....in addition to a rose-magenta lipstick ;) I often wear a short red thin leather jacket too. Thanks to your videos I started loving jeans! Merci beaucoup, Frédérique 💐💌

    We see happily that u combine natural colour with some bright colour accassories! It makes u younger as well! But its the time for u to step out from ur comfort zone! We would like u to see in saree, kimono, ankara dress, or some native indian. I know its not ur style, but just for fun! Go for it! U would rise ur followers! To answear ur question springtime i love to change the dark heavy colours for light baby blue, yellow, baby pink withe. And of course flower pattern can come unlimited! XD Yes we know its a wallpaper for French women, but the another part of the world think different! So dear Frederique when will we see u in parrot colour? XD Dont get upset! We just kidding u, i hope u have a sense of humor! We like u! Or when will we see bohemian outfit from u?

    Hi Frédérique! Thank you for reminding me get a black leather pencil skirt (which I’ve been looking for, for quite a while), I finally found one second hand, I just hope it looks as good on me as it does on you! Love your style!!! Thank you for the video, a lot of the things you showed I have in my closet. Now I know how to put them together better, thank you!!!
