Update: I just made it. I followed all your steps. I did remix it a bit. I used bread crumbs. My hubby said he loved it. I will buy a cooking sheet for it though. It make a big mess. I had to throw the pan away. I say Cook the chicken for 40mins on 375. Thanks so much for the Video. Be Blessed
I start mine on 400 and then reduced it to 375 after 10 - 15 minutes (10 for Wings), then I check at 30 minutes and turn them, and cook for another 20-30 minutes (wings 20) Note: add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of baking powder to get the most crispy coat. Use a rack on top the pan (1.25 at Dollar Tree) and be sure to spray the rack, pan, and chicken with Olive Oil before Baking. If your going to use bread crumbs added to the flour, 1st coat chicken in an egg and milk wash, 1 egg beat well and 3 Tablespoons Milk. The Southern Cooks sometimes use melted butter then roll the chicken in their flour and/or breadcrumbs coating. I prefer the flour, and let the chicken set at room temp till the coating absorbs the moisture, the bake. Use egg and milk wash then coat with flour and let set before frying too. (Don't use butter if frying) When frying chicken use Peanut Oil or Peanut and Olive mix, DO NOT USE CORN, CRISCO, or VEGETABLE OIL, they are not healthy at all, Lard is healthier than those Modified Oils. FRIED Free Range Chicken 2 or 3 times a year is fine, it is the Breads, Starches, and Sugar that is truly unhealthy. Using natural oils and a balanced diet rich in green and the purple vegs, very healthy. Most important, Believe it is healthy and appreciate the values of it, and your body will process it healthy. Fact. Enjoy!!!
I tried this recipe the other night and I was surprised how crunchy the chicken skin was! Very good, and so much easier clean-up wise than coating the chicken in egg & frying it.
Not only is this recipe delicious, my family loves it. But... I think we watch the video more to hear you speak (The recipe is easy to remember). We can't get enough of the chicken or of that marvelous diction and southern charm. Grrrrrr!
Discovered you this evening and made your delish oven-fried chicken! Didn’t add as much black pepper though😂 Although, my husband wouldn’t have minded. Thanks so much, VERY, VERY GOOD! 👍🏼
@Tiffany Hall Why so judgemental over seasonings 🤔😟 Walmart seasonings happen to be just fine so Wow what kind of comment is that towards a dad who's cooking dinner for his family and kids, You must be a POS drunk floozy with a crappy life
This was a great recipe just made it tonight thank you for sharing what a great idea rather than using all that oil to fry chicken my kids loved it and I have the pickiest children in the world
I just did this recipe and although the skin didn't turn out as crispy as I had hoped, my drumsticks were juicy and tasty. Tiger Sauce suggestion however, was GENIUS! I would have never thought about using Tiger Sauce on drumsticks but it's a new favorite. Thank you for the recipe!
Man! Looks good! Easy too! Ya know, besides the mighty fine recipes, a thing I really like about Pohto’s videos is that he is real. Just a good old boy, nuttn fancy, no pretense.
I just found your site today, and I am so happy I did, really nice recipes. As a European, I have not spent much time in the "south" but a few years ago I got the chance to see much of "it" the hospitality was spectacular, as the food, and ladies in stores, not more the 10 years older then I, called me honey. The poorest person I saw, living in a single wide, with fewer then average teeth, were much happier then the "rich" people where I am from. If you solve the mouse sized insect problem, I might join you.

Tried this yesterday AND IT WAS GREAT! But: i did not add cornstarch to flour, just used seasoned flour. Cornstarch can make skin taste a bit chalky to me. Added cajun seasoning along with the rest. Roasted legs at 375* for an hour ...perfect! The biggest difference is spraying on the cooking oil onto legs prior to roasting...never occurred to me..GREAT IDEA!
OMG, I thought I was original! You're spice mix is almost exactly like mine that I've been using for the past year or so. I always use garlic and onion powder, smoked paprika and cayenne. (and I don't measure either, just sprinkle away!) I don't like black pepper for some reason and cayenne has more of a bite. I'm trying a version of this right now. I can't wait.
Dude!!!!! that looks MIGHTY FINE indeed!!!! Now IM gonna have to make some this week. But, Im gonna do mine in an air fryer. Ill let you know how it turns out.
Love me some oven fried chicken. Love me some tiger sauce too. Also I make a honey sriracha sauce 50/50 mix on fried chicken n waffles.
