As a child, it never occurred to me either. They showed it last year outdoors at Sunnylands Center and Gardens. We watched it, and it dawned on us that the movie provides no evidence to the contrary.
its not a horror for children but a horror for adults thats a big mind blowing plot twist right there, i still have it on VHS and whenever i say im watching a horror movie this is the one im talking about
when i watched willy wonka and the chocolate factory, gene wilder's willy wonka doesn't care about the kids, all he cares about is his candy and factory and i don't know if they survived ever.
but in the charlie and the chocolate factory movie the 4 kids survived, augustus is licking his fingers, violet is flexible looking like a gymnast, veruca still wants something and mike looks like he could be a basketball player.
Finally!! I always keep telling everyone I know that Willy Wonka is a horror film disguised as a family film! Unlike the book and the Tim Burton one, we never see the kids again, so they're most likely dead and Wonka only said they're fine to shut up Charlie. The west end and Broadway musical pretty much proves it! As the 4 kids actually die expect Mike Teevee who remains small.
As a child, I never even thought about that. I always thought that they would be fine even though I was a bit frightened.

I'm puzzled how I did not notice this for so many years! Once you know, it's hard to not notice this.

@@viviennemorgan7217 Yes, THAT version makes it clear. The 1971 version leaves it up to your imagination.
Who cares. All the kids (except Charlie) were mean assholes.
Ha! Perhaps the German kid was okay, but yes most of them were brats.
I personally think it’s a thriller not a horror tbh
That's a fair assessment. Do you think the four kids got out alive?

Oh, now I’m curious! I’ve never seen the stage production.
@@PalmSpringsLinguist Trust me, Violet and Veruca suffer the most in the Broadway version.
@@jayheadley8061 😳
@@PalmSpringsLinguist Yep, you need to see it for yourself.
Not as big as horror as the Wonka experience in Glasgow 🤣
Ha! Definitely
You give us something to think about.....
Next time you watch it, try to find evidence to the contrary. I couldn’t find any.
