I'm Andy, the Palm Springs Linguist. My channel is my creative outlet where I explore topics such as Disneyland history, theme parks, languages, linguistics, movies, travel, and much more.
In my past lives, I worked at Disneyland for 10 years, earned a degree in Linguistics, was a bilingual teacher, and led language development for a school district.
Nowadays living in Palm Springs, I play tennis every day, travel the world, go to national parks and theme parks, and research Disneyland history and language to make these video passion projects.

Safer modern working conditions for cast members
@@radicalwriter9427 there have definitely been many changes that have made. It’s safe for a cast member since when I worked there in the 80s and 90s.

Laboratory makes me sense to me than labratory, this elision and the flapped t are the big stand outs for me in an American accent. It is the workspace, the labour room. In modern romance languages work will be pronounced as something similar tolaboro (lavoro in Italian for example) Trabajo in Spanish comes from a different root. Some of these show the stronger influence of the French language on American English, like the way Z and garage are pronounced. French influence is also appears in certain American English vocabulary like maitre d('hotel) résumé and entrée where in the UK we would use manager, CV (which stands for curriculum vitae) and starter. Others seem to be a kind of second vowel shift like vase and tomato using a longer A sound as well as pronounce Harry and hairy the same. The way you pronounced Peter to me sounds me like peedur, the way Pat says it sounds like peetah, I'm from the south west of England and would say it different to both of you. Even have grown up in a similar area of the same country as Pat, I pronounce a lot of these words very differently.
@@RNS_Aurelius Interesting that you and Pat pronounce many of these words differently. Thanks for watching!

Very nice, and yes, I do remember this version (in fact, I never saw the "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" version). Maybe everyone knows, but you might have mentioned that both songs were composed by the Sherman brothers. The song's actual title is "The Best Time of Your Life" (according to Wikipedia).

Indigenous just means the opposite of foreign. Welsh and Celtic are indigenous languages while English is arguably foreign, depending on how far back you go.

Guineafowl were called “turkeys” because Western Europeans thought they came from Turkey (they didn’t, they just travelled through Turkey on trade routes). So the name was applied to the North American bird, like the words “Robin” “sparrow” “buzzard” and “warbler”, even though there was no relation. Then the name for guineafowl shifted away from Turkey while it stuck with the “gobble gobble” bird 😊
