I am a tug boat captain, by trade. It's not hard to see that Sean has everything under control and did a magnificent job of boat handling. Keep up the great work and superbly entertaining video's!
2 guys standing 3 feet above the water on metal plating facing a camera and pointing another camera at some buildings, bridges and a river... yet quite simply the best entertainment/documentary posted or broadcast anywhere ever. Outstanding!!! Team silverfox raises the bar again.
Shaun, just pitch Colin down with Otis. That outtake of Colin going slightly mental, you saying don't panic, Colin disappears stage right, you just shake your head. Brilliant! Most real interaction I think I've seen yet. 😂😄😂 I hope Otis had a life jacket on and amazing piloting Shaun. Well done boys. Can't wait for next week. P.S. great editing Colin! That was exciting and informative. ❤❤
Way to go Shaun! You rock! (and you ARE a rock, like Colin says!) Awesome production, guys! This is a view of the Thames & London most of us Americans will never see! Sending you both & Otis love & hugs!💕 Stay safe! xxx
And there go our lads, with the stoic glare of resolute determination ... no - no - it's the nervous daze of unequivocal horror. Oh well, good on ya lads ... no worries ... they have done it! They have conquered the Tidal Thames, in spite of all the odds! Fantastic update guys! Ta!
What an awesome journey. London from the Thames is amazing. How can you not love London.........Keep up the good work guys.......You have no idea how many of us enjoy your cruising.......
Just watched it for the second time, and I think this is your best ever video - and not just because of the subject matter, but the editing is absolutely spot on. Congratulations to Shaun for his amazing boatmanship (I wondered if all those years manouvering a bus helped?!), and to Colin for his bravery for attempting something that he clearly did not want to do. But also congratulations to Colin for his editing - not easy to show yourself so honestly, when you could so easily have cut those bits out, but the tension between cool, calm Shaun and Collin's panic, gave the video the extra edge that made it special. Imagine that made for TV - a whole camera crew, a director and editor, multiple camera views, multiple re-takes and scripted shots dropped in in post. You have some talent there, Colin. The only thing missing was shots from the drone (that would have taken your mind off being scared!).
I totally agree about the drone, Paul. If there wasn’t a total ban along the entire stretch I would have sent it up for some shots of the boat on the river with the iconic landmarks behind. Thanks for truly appreciating the effort. x
@@FoxesAfloat pity about the ban. I can't decide if controlling a drone during all that would have been good for you - distracting you from what was going on - or would just have resulted in a total meltdown! But I was being tongue in cheek really - although airial shots would have added an interesting perspective, I think they would have distracted from the immediacy of what you were going through. It would all have looked too calm and controlled from above. What makes that video is the sense of danger and fear that comes over (albeit quite subtly) - we don't just know it's a real adventure, we feel it too. I only usually recommend your videos to people I think might like narrow boating, but I'd recommend this one to anyone - it's riveting watching, especially the way it starts so calmly and gradually builds up to the climax of that 180 degree turn and the 'only just' entrance to the lock. Shaun looks so calm and competent, but that must have been the most difficult thing he's ever done. I'd love to see more of the footage of that final bit - the outtakes look a hell of a lot scarier than the finished video. On a personal note, you're very lucky to have such a rock to depend on - as I guess you know!
I enjoyed that as my lovely old Londoner Dad, Ronnie, used to recite the names of all those bridges in proper sequence. Brought a tear to my eye. God bless you Dad. Till we meet again. ♥️🥰💖
What an exciting Sunday afternoon I spent with you two!, it was amazing journey, it ‘twas. Thank you so very much for sharing. God Bless Silver Fox and all who sail therein 🍏
I was expecting the intro music to East Enders when this 0:29 appeared. more East Enders intro music here 9:25 . awesome footage here 15:53. omg my sphincter tightened a bit here 16:09, and here 16:34. i held my breath here 19:14. i really thought y'all were gonna slam into that wall. kudos to Captain Shaun for his excellent maneuvering abilities. great vlog guys, and my partner and I now watch you on our 65" tv to take advantage of all that beautiful scenery. 👍
What a rush! Shaun..... cool as a cucumber! That was some tricky and stressful maneuvering! Colin.... 1. You’re so smart. Amazed at the knowledge you’ve accumulated. Love it! 2. View of London Bridge. I get it. I remember the first time I was in a rowboat in the middle of a small lake. It was awesome to see it from the middle rather just the edge. It no comparison to London Bridge but your mind just explodes with amazement. Wow!! Beautiful, exciting trip!!! Thank you! And thank you for your gift to make me laugh! Have a joyful, adventurous week!💟💟💟💟💟💟
I'm in New York City and today's video was a nice break from a sober 9/11 anniversary! I'm a new fan ( thanks to my other half ) and have been praising you two on Facebook creating more fans! Happy sailing...now I have something to look forward to each Friday during a pandemic where every day is the same! XOXO from the West Village ( next to Stonewall ).
@@FoxesAfloat Curious at why there were no drone shots ( which are always excellent ). My guess is you two were too damn busy but wondered if there was some London ruling.
That was a lovely bit of boat handling there Shaun. Smug you should damn well be. Congrats to Colin too for being way outside his comfort zone and coming through all smiles, eventually. What a great trip. Thanks for sharing it.
I love this video because I was born in Chiswick and I used to work in Brentford. As I now live in Cornwall it was nice to see these places again as I havn't been back to London for over 30 years. Well done Boys and keep safe. Lots of love as always. xxx
Wow! Loved it! Loved it! ......what a great trip, lovely fellas - took me back to the Ribble Link. I love your planning and risk taking.... going out of a comfort zone to experience what the world has got for you! Loved it! Lots of love to you both.......am off to do my iron woman challenge.......yes, exactly that, the feckin, ironing! 😂❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ace piloting. That lock opening was a bit scary. 'Ooops!' whoosh like being flushed LOL. I was thinking wow those bridges & London look especially awesome from the Thames and then you said it. Tops on my list for a visit, that's for sure. Cheers from New York!
Sean didn’t look scared or even nervous but I think that was the most alert I’ve ever seen him. I loved the gongoozlers waving from Tower Bridge. Also, the ominous music as you approached Limehouse. Brilliant vlog!
Sean, what a perfect vision of the calm seafarer at the helm. Such adventurous lads. Missed Otis but good choice to keep him in for this adventure. Love the tour coming down and looking forward to upriver. Slower of course. Thanks for the trip as always. Be safe lads.
My boyfriend and I are separated due to the pandemic so one of our routines is to watch your videos together while facetiming. You guys are goals for us. ¡Great content!
Oh my goodness! If it were me doing that trip up the Thames I would have had to have taken a double dose of Imodium! It's a blimmin good job you had a skilful skipper navigating. This was by far your most exciting vlog. Well done with your editing as well as I can imagine it took a while to get all those shots in. I bet the Grand Union Canal will now be like a mill pond in comparison. Well done guys. You've done yourselves proud. Xx
Breath taking, shaun stands there without a care in the world like he does it everyday, then just laughs hahaha, over the sea to ireland next then mmmm🤔 take care, stay safe 👍
This weeks vlog was simply amazing. Everything you were feeling came across to us. I had goosebumps going under Tower Bridge. You guys just get better and better. But take some time to relax. Hugs to both of you and give Otis a quick snog xxx
Wow that was exciting and suspenseful. I love how calm Shaun is and his expressions behind Colin in the outtakes are priceless. Thanks for another terrific Vlog. 💜
I said this before, but this is the best yet. The use of music beginning at 5:10 builds in a continuity that pulls the viewer into the excitement which seems a tad oversold in the beginning, but delivers in the shots and the sense of motion that builds up. Then Captain Blood takes over and saves the day. Almost like a movie. That was fun. KUDOS to you both.
When you think about it, I guess the Thames, the Nile and maybe the Amazon are the three most famous rivers in the world. What a treat to see you guys navigate it and see things from that vantage point. Think of the famous people that have been on that river over the centuries. London is the greatest city in the world, in my opinion. Thanks for the tour. Looking fwd. to next week.
When i was a boy my grandfather kept a boat at Teddington, I spent many, many happy times running the stretch of the river you just showed. So many amazing things to see along there, such history. Thank you gents.
Brilliant vlog, guys - very well done. Exciting, too - and glad to see Shaun making an expert job of steering through the currents whilst ignoring Colin's instructions :)
I've just watched your video in Perth Australia, and I have to say that's your best vlog EVER, I loved how excited you both were about London (my home) and I think Sean did absolutely brilliant, you guys made me smile so much and made me miss home. Keep doing what your doing! Because your great. 💞
foxes you are The Master and Commanders of the river, love this chapter, love how careful you guys are, keep enjoying and giving us this lovely moments, big hug.
What a brilliant video, and a great piece of boat handling by Shaun. well done lads, look forward to next weeks episode. Stay safe and look after each other.
Beautiful!!! Way to go on the entry. Very cool Shawn. I love you guys. Back in the early 1980s I was a novice sailor and I double-handed a 28 ft sloop around the Top End of Australia during cyclone season. I loved it!! I also fly. Watching you enter the lock and knowing that your cool demeanour belied all the tweaking and focus on the shifts of forces on the boat was very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, guys this trip on the Tidal River Thames was so well put together, it really brought to life London and the Thames with all your information reminded me of the 1970s when I traveled to London as a young man. Well, stay safe and best of luck in the future.
Fantastic video. One of my favourites. Many memories back to when I lived in London and many trips since. You're right, the view from the boat was amazing. Thanks so much.
aw wow fellas, amazing video once again, well done Sean. In 2016 us kiwis had a trip to UK and did a boat ride on the Thames from Westminster Bridge to Greenwich. It was absolutely awesome, 35degrees, blue skies, the commentary aboard was fantastic, and we learned so much. Thank you both. Good luck with the return trip, bring on next week.
27:32 Shaun's perfect demonstration of the phrase "To bite one's tongue" This episode is more exciting than an It's a Knockout grand final! Bring on part 2!!
Hi Guys. Love watching your vlog each week. No matter what crap I've had to deal with through the week, I always end up sat here with a big daft grin on my face. Keep up the good work. Cheers. Peter
I just had to giggle when, you Colin, told Shaun, "This man's a hero" and Shaun replied, "Your a nightmare" 😅 I love boats. I crew up on cruisers and a sailboat. My parents owned both and made sure we knew about boat safety and how to handle them in rough waters. Having a father that made his career in the Navy helped 🙂 Colin you did alright, goodonya 😀 and Shaun, your a fantastic navigator, spot on👍 😀 I enjoyed this vlog very much, haven't been on the River Thames in quite a while, the scenery was beautiful..Thank you so much for this weeks vlog, was wonderful memories of my city where I was born, London 🥰 Take care Colin, Shaun and Otis, till next time. love you both ❤️😀💛
Omg what a ride...it was beautiful... Shaun, you too are my hero, that steering of "Silver Fox", was amazing 👏, you are in safe hands ✋ 🙌 Colin....how's Otis?...catch you guys next week 😷😄, stay safe!!🤩😍
Well done Shaun. An excellent boatman (if that's the right word. I really enjoyed this video and seeing London from this perspective. Thank you both for sharing this experience. Have a Blessed day.
Excellent mastery, skipper ! I loved the calm of Sean while Colin was on the verge of panicking. I really enjoyed this adventure of yours but it was too short ! It reminded me of times when I used to sail alongside the Loire river, from the ocean to the city of Nantes. You 2 are really gentle persons, take the best care of you and be always happy, you deserve it. Jef, a Frenchman in Asia.
I'm watching from Vancouver on Canada's west coast, Colin your commentaries are fabulous. Shaun, my husband was a bus driver too, calm and collected like you. You and Colin are amazing, thank you both for the wonderful videos. Happy sailing!
I think BRILLIANT! just about says it all. Fantastic filming and narration. I felt like I was aboard Silver Fox. I am excited for the next part of this adventure. Keep safe boys keep safe!
Brilliant 👏👏😃 Absolutely fantastic SO enjoyed that. Never mind you’re nerves Colin filming typically brilliant, great to be taken along the old river like that. Strong arm on the tiller there Sean 😀THANK you both for taking the plunge, without actually plunging if you see what I mean. AND we come back again.next week 😃🌟👍😆 I’ve had to wait till now, couldn’t watch yesterday, we had no signal 😫 were on the dear Llangollen top of Grindley brook. See you next week 👍 Joan
This past month or more, I have been a wishing, and a hoping and a praying that you'd take this journey into London. When you first entered the Thames - all those weeks ago - I really did hope that this would be end result. Absolutely fantastic! I was there with you all in spirit and feeling the joy of the moment. Well done fellas. Great job. I can't wait to see the next installment. This must have been a very big day for you all. I bet you were all knackered at the end of it? Anyways...just wanted to say thank you for another fantastic production. Keep up the good work. Sail safe boys. Greetings from Perth, Western Australia.
Seeing London by river, shows a whole new dimension to London, as a Londoner, even I was totally amazed when viewing it from the river aspect when doing some river cruises. Really enjoyed the video, well done
This was was on the best videos yet. The scale and scope of the mighty Thames, the history, the activity, just grand. Great scene between the two of you as you made it past the marina entrance. Well done guys!
Many things make you guys admirable, but what I love a LOT is that you tell us you are scared of doing something - already a MAJOR plus - and then, go and DO THE THING YOU ARE AFRAID OF! That is courage. Bravo!
Wow my anxiety was 10 fuld the more Journey went on and i wasn't on the boat lol ...well done you two and Colin for keeping it together and the good skipper )
Wonderful, beautiful, music so perfect. Nothing like seeing the queen or maybe two queens sailing regally under Tower Bridge in a Narrowboat ! Really it was great, just missed seeing Otis....love to all three of you....
Thanks! That was great and much enjoyed. I don't know what training they give cooks in the Royal Navy but Shaun handles a narrow boat tiller just as good as he does a frying pan! Wonderful. Looking forward to this week, in reverse, next week! Thanks again.
Congratulations to Shaun for doing a great job! Glad that Colin seemed to enjoy the trip much more than he expected. Fantastic scenery! So glad you both enjoyed the trip!
Shaun, as someone who suffers from PTSD and struggles to understand what my family go through trying to tolerate/support me. I just wanted to say what an absolute star you are in the way you must handle ups and downs with Colin. Each time Colin mentions his mental health it brings tears to my eyes and strikes a chord of acknowledgement. My hat is truly off to you. I did a video for the firefighters charity about PTSD and my condition. Colin you probably know about it, but the Headspace meditation app has helped me no end. Chins up guys.
@@FoxesAfloat thanks. It was a hard day filming in my garden. Bloody chicken and the dog got in on the act. Even the wife got in on it. Once those cameras roll everyone's an actor, darling.🙄
To be fair, Colin did all the hard work, planning, researching, making the calls, navigating, piloting, radios, filming, editing, and making sure I steered the right way. 😂
Fantastic helmsman ship and nav work, well planned, passage, good to see . we went from Ramsgate to Windsor, and at our crucial turn into Limehouse ,we had a hose burst, both engines stopped due to the steam, 25 foot Draco old boat, we got rescued and the tow rope got caught in the prop of the rescue boat, nightmare, we had a second rescue from the Thames pilot boat And finally we were towed into Limehouse. First it seemed like a fire , but it was steam coming out of everywhere as the engine boiled, our 2 jack Russells and my wife were transferred to the first rescue boat, While we were bobbing And drifting about on the tide, so watching your fantastic work brought back memories which we laugh at now.🤪 Also as you said ,it’s fantastic to see the Thames and London from the river level .
Absolutely loved this ... mainly because this would have been the main route between Richmond and London, and Hampton Court palace and London, in medieval times. Loved this journey with you! 😍. And Shaun is amazing 🥰👏💕 ... you are just *WICKED*!!
You two are a JOY to watch. As you intro’d your journey at the beginning I was excited to see the rest of the vlog and loved being on your journey. Really enjoying working my way through your videos 📺
Can you get to Little Venice on the narrowboat or is that a self-contained canal? Love how calm Shaun was - took it all in his stride, loving it. As choppy as that was it looks like a fab trip to take, loads to look at. I wouldn't fancy doing it on a week day though. Eek! Oh and the Tower Bridge moment as brilliant, I got choked at how choked and stoked you pair were about it. I could imagine how brilliant it must have been to sail wee Silver Fox in the footsteps of all those famous vessels from olden days .....none of which I can name.
That was really interesting. You guys really know your stuff. Thank you for sharing your work, it is far better entertainment than the crappy television people can muster up.
Game as badgers you two and the wee dog,, this has been a great wee series on the Thames and the places on it,, bloody brilliant viewing from Northern Ireland greatly appreciated thank you ☘️☘️☘️☘️👍👍👍👍first class you made a life for yourselves and we are all enjoying it bet you're glad you sold the house and done lifestyle

It was absolutely awesome, 35degrees, blue skies, the commentary aboard was fantastic, and we learned so much. Thank you both. Good luck with the return trip, bring on next week.
Nice one!
27:32 Shaun's perfect demonstration of the phrase "To bite one's tongue" This episode is more exciting than an It's a Knockout grand final! Bring on part 2!!
Thank you 👍🏻😬😛
Nerves of steel lads!
Not just nerves 😂
I really like your use of graphics to explain what you are doing, very well done!!
Thank you very much!
Love your channel thanks for your historical comments loved the sites of London you take care Richard ann 🐺🐺🐶
Many thanks
Hi Guys. Love watching your vlog each week. No matter what crap I've had to deal with through the week, I always end up sat here with a big daft grin on my face. Keep up the good work. Cheers. Peter
Sorry to hear that
I just had to giggle when, you Colin, told Shaun, "This man's a hero" and Shaun replied, "Your a nightmare" 😅 I love boats. I crew up on cruisers and a sailboat. My parents owned both and made sure we knew about boat safety and how to handle them in rough waters. Having a father that made his career in the Navy helped 🙂 Colin you did alright, goodonya 😀 and Shaun, your a fantastic navigator, spot on👍 😀 I enjoyed this vlog very much, haven't been on the River Thames in quite a while, the scenery was beautiful..Thank you so much for this weeks vlog, was wonderful memories of my city where I was born, London 🥰 Take care Colin, Shaun and Otis, till next time. love you both ❤️😀💛
Thank you 👍🏻😛💜
Shaun, you absolute hero, great job x
Cheers 👍🏻
Omg what a ride...it was beautiful...
Shaun, you too are my hero, that steering of "Silver Fox", was amazing 👏, you are in safe hands ✋ 🙌 Colin....how's Otis?...catch you guys next week 😷😄, stay safe!!🤩😍
💪🏻
Well done Shaun. An excellent boatman (if that's the right word. I really enjoyed this video and seeing London from this perspective. Thank you both for sharing this experience. Have a Blessed day.
Many thanks!
Way to go Sean!!! I was holding my breath the whole time! Nervous nelly😂😂😂😂 Beautiful footage of London !!!You both are great !!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent mastery, skipper !
Many thanks!
"Don't panic" seems to be me daily with my son too. Well done Shaun.
Thank you, Kate xxxx
I'm watching from Vancouver on Canada's west coast, Colin your commentaries are fabulous. Shaun, my husband was a bus driver too, calm and collected like you. You and Colin are amazing, thank you both for the wonderful videos. Happy sailing!
That is awesome!
I think BRILLIANT! just about says it all. Fantastic filming and narration. I felt like I was aboard Silver Fox. I am excited for the next part of this adventure. Keep safe boys keep safe!
Fingers crossed!
I hear the signal is poor up there 😬
We were all shouting “ Turn Shaun , Turn ,” what a great vlog and talented driver
You weren't the only ones! 😂😂😂
Thank you so much, Geoff! Next week is very different despite us starting on the same stretch 👍🏻
I'll admit I was waiting for the clonk! But very well done Shaun! :-)
👍🏻👍🏻
Seeing London by river, shows a whole new dimension to London, as a Londoner, even I was totally amazed when viewing it from the river aspect when doing some river cruises.
Really enjoyed the video, well done
It was an amazing experience!
This was was on the best videos yet. The scale and scope of the mighty Thames, the history, the activity, just grand. Great scene between the two of you as you made it past the marina entrance. Well done guys!
Thank you very much!
Many things make you guys admirable, but what I love a LOT is that you tell us you are scared of doing something - already a MAJOR plus - and then, go and DO THE THING YOU ARE AFRAID OF! That is courage. Bravo!
At least we always survive it (so far) 😛
Great job Shaun. I Love London
I’m sure it loves you too 💜
Stunning vlog as always! Nice helmsmanship by Captain Sean, tidal Thames conquered with ease! Have a great week & take care.
Cheers. Callum.
Excellent navigation Shawn...great video as ever. You are so right. London looks so different from the river.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow my anxiety was 10 fuld the more Journey went on and i wasn't on the boat lol ...well done you two and Colin for keeping it together and the good skipper )
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wonderful, beautiful, music so perfect. Nothing like seeing the queen or maybe two queens sailing regally under Tower Bridge in a Narrowboat ! Really it was great, just missed seeing Otis....love to all three of you....
Many thanks!
You guys crack me up I love watching these videos your both a ray of sunshine
Thanks, Ken!
Wow! You finessed that turn 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
👍🏻
Passed by a rowboat. Glad you had your life vests on!🙏lol.
The shame! 😂
Thanks! That was great and much enjoyed. I don't know what training they give cooks in the Royal Navy but Shaun handles a narrow boat tiller just as good as he does a frying pan! Wonderful. Looking forward to this week, in reverse, next week! Thanks again.
Our pleasure, John 👍🏻
Congratulations to Shaun for doing a great job! Glad that Colin seemed to enjoy the trip much more than he expected. Fantastic scenery! So glad you both enjoyed the trip!
Thanks 👍
Great video. I really enjoyed this one. My daughter lives in Little Venice. I hope you go that way.
Great to see Shaun at his best.
Glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely awesome again guys, its always great to watch your videos.
Awww. Fancy a hug? 😉

Hey, Roger. Yeah, I use Headspace. Big respect for the video!
@@FoxesAfloat thanks. It was a hard day filming in my garden. Bloody chicken and the dog got in on the act. Even the wife got in on it. Once those cameras roll everyone's an actor, darling.🙄
So glad you let us come along with you on this journey x
Always welcome!
Really enjoyed that you two. Big pat on the back for Shaun, well done great job. Looking forward to the return trip.
It was Colin who spent two months making this happen. I just stood at the tiller and pointed it where he told me 😂
Great vlog. Excellent quality , loved every minute. Well done to you both. Stay safe.
Glad you enjoyed it
Shaun .... what can I say? You did great 🎖 hope you rewarded yourself with a glass or two🍷
To be fair, Colin did all the hard work, planning, researching, making the calls, navigating, piloting, radios, filming, editing, and making sure I steered the right way. 😂
@@FoxesAfloatYes, he did shout a few directions didn't he.....haha
Excellent! Well done and thanks for the adventure.
Glad you enjoyed it!
First it seemed like a fire , but it was steam coming out of everywhere as the engine boiled, our 2 jack Russells and my wife were transferred to the first rescue boat, While we were bobbing And drifting about on the tide, so watching your fantastic work brought back memories which we laugh at now.🤪
Also as you said ,it’s fantastic to see the Thames and London from the river level .
Thank you 👍🏻😛💜
So exciting and beautiful. Great job Shaun. Wonderful music choices.
Thanks so much!
I was amazed at the lack of traffic on the Thames. Hope your return is as much fun and as uneventful.
Haha! It's the opposite of this one 😂
Nice one lads !!!
Much appreciated!
Absolutely loved this ... mainly because this would have been the main route between Richmond and London, and Hampton Court palace and London, in medieval times. Loved this journey with you! 😍. And Shaun is amazing 🥰👏💕 ... you are just *WICKED*!!
Aww, thanks! x
Shaun you look so confident making that turn. Love it!!
He was!
You two are a JOY to watch. As you intro’d your journey at the beginning I was excited to see the rest of the vlog and loved being on your journey. Really enjoying working my way through your videos 📺
Thanks so much, Rebeccah!
Yeah, you can get to Little Venice
Great video! Boat driving skills are excellent. Your choice of music was perfect. I felt the tension of the moment.
Awesome, thank you!
That was really interesting.
You guys really know your stuff.
Thank you for sharing your work, it is far better entertainment
than the crappy television people can muster up.
Thank you 👍🏻😬😛
Wow I would have been scared loved Sean consentration face he did it perfect xxx
