Love this 4:15 "...OMG...feel it..., I would not recommend this if you get seasick." (slight pause, then a very concerned look) "Does David get seasick?" LOL

Magic! A very different journey. Nice to watch the boat reacting so well in some serious water too. Thanks for sharing. Will have to watch the others' vlogs tomorrow. I'm sure they will have captured another interesting angle on the trip. Cheers.

We watched all three Vlogs. Different cameras, different views, different people. *It worked*
We really enjoyed doing all three Vlog's in the same time period.
You four have to do this type cruising again.........
Thank you for allowing us in on your adventure. 👍👍👍

Sorry I’m late getting to this vlog but I’ve been catching up. Funny but I used to catch the 65 bus from Surbiton to Ealing many many years ago when I was a first year apprentice at a Training College. Dread to think how long ago! Loved the vlog and would loooove to do that journey.

This was another brilliant vlog once again from you. Loved how you caught the terror and excitement of being up front and so close to the “action”
I remember my first rough cross of Breydon Water in the Norfolk Broads. Thought I’d made a terrible mistake and I was about to reenact the Titanic 😂 but once I realised the boat wasn’t sinking and I was still making progress I relaxed and began to really enjoy the waves.
Keep up the great work Lorna, seeing you smile so happily really does make the days seem just a little brighter 😀

Yours is the 2nd Vlog I've watched on this journey and it was great to see it from a different position. Come on be brave after the chop from Limehouse to Battersea, you all hade a wonderful cruise the will get even better for Jo & Micheal. Will watch their's next and hopefully lots more of their trip onwards up the Thames.
I lived on the Thames at Wraysbury and had a great time, evening trips up to Windsor or down to Runnymede for a meal or just chilling out on deck with a G&T, ducking as the planes flew overhead into Heathrow.
Just one point, make sure all scuppers and decks are clear of debris before setting off, don't want the pump or drain aways clogging up.
    Safe boating.

I'm gradually catching up on various peoples' vlogs and it's great to see how much cross-over there is in the You Tube narrowboat community.
In more practical terms, I can see a good case for ordering a vertical-stemmed barge-type bow with a bit of a shear....that is, if a new boat was an option, and you wanted to cruise on tidal waters.

How exciting was that?! Was so surprised when you said you were starting THAT far down the Thames - and although I guess that water was quite calm, being only a foot or two above the water and so solid i think i would've been squealing my head off having it come splashing up like that. Congratulations all round

Hi guys,I love the banter,it makes me laugh, there's great camaraderie between all of you, that lock gate looks so scary,
While you are waiting for the gate to open,as for the water,it's so turbulent, rocking your narrowboat, from side to side,
Did you all get a bit nauseous,on your boat trip,

  • @rdmsh

A big wave (no pun) and hello to you! I just subscribed to your channel after watching David's (Cruising the Cut) and Minimal List's version of the Thames's, was extremely curious about your version of the experience. And it's confirmed .. everyone was terrified lol! Look at that (bloody hell) current almost throwing the boat onto the lock gate at 2:28 .. oh God indeed! "Oh fog" was what you said?

Do you hose the boats down when you come out of salt water. We used pull the boats out after running in salt and since our engines were cooled by exterior water we would also have to flush them. Still ended up with pitted aluminum and rust spots. Salt ir played havoc with screws nuts and bolts mounting hardware also.

    • @spencerwilton5831

klayofthemystics salt water doesn't make it this far upriver on the Thames.

Nice video! I have one question: Is it possible to swap out the small motor for a very substantial V-8, with 6-blade hi-pitch propeller? The reason I ask is, these narrow boats appear too slow. Thanks in advance.

    • @lornajaneadventures
      @lornajaneadventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

brian belton you can put huge engines in if you want, but the max speed on a canal is 4mph so it’s not usually a good idea

Who said this during David's vlog ..."I'm worried that I am not worried about it ." My take on what you really meant "I'm not worried about it because I can swim and my boat is not at risk ." Ok , we will accept the excuse that excitement over rides many emotions sometimes ..... Just subscribed to your channel . There are a lot more splashes in your vlog , it's like watching some of the scenes from the movie Titanic .......... All you needed to do was stand on the bow and reach for the stars . Or was that Buzz in Toystory ?

Only a very small number, on waterways that aren’t managed by CRT. It could be a lock fee or more often, a licence fee for that waterway
