JessScrappy not really. It doesnt has very little red cancer. As far as mechanics go, With the execption of the frontend, everything else is easy.

Dude you don't need a parts car. This is you parts car! You already have to pull that thing apart so much you might as well just find a solid shell and transplant the good stuff into it. Shoddy frame repairs are not a thing to mess with especially if you are going to try and track this thing. Running it on the track will put more stress than daily driving on it not less!
That was my first thought as well, this is your parts car! Also, how can you not pull that power train for a rebuild? Doesn't make any sense, with all the shoddy work that you can see is done, what makes you think that motor will last more than a few hundred miles. If you're going to do it, do it right.

That thing is horribly bad! For the sake of your mental health i suggest buying another MR2 that is in better shape. Maby buy an N/A one and swap the (few) good bits over?

I think he is trying to figure out where to even start. Out of all the cars to convert into a manual an AMG is probably one of the hardest. Because all the different computers are connected to eachother.

Yeah you should get another MR2 and make this one the parts car lol go find a clean shell if possible because the MR2 is a death trap to begin with but this one is just gone man 😂

Can I make a suggestion?? Just hit the boneyard for the Toyo stuff you need and use Home Depot to fix the rest. Paint it rattle-can flat black, weld some bosses over the front member for strength, repair the worst of it and hoon that puppy!!! Like you said, NOT gonna be a daily driver, so go for it!!! Best of luck to ya!!

That looks rough. Even with you having a lift, it still seems like a lot of difficult work! You're gonna need some friends help to get those items you pointed out, up to snuff! And it looks like the guys that put it together to begin with, were drinking beer too! LOL!

I had a 1995 Camry with the 5S-FE from the same engine family and it was definitely easy to work on, probably even more so than this car owing to the lack of turbo plumbing and the fact that it was a four-cylinder in a V6-sized engine bay.
You don't have to fix damage beyond the shock towers because they wont affect structural rigidity just add bash bars for safety but that repair on the front might be a big problem if the alignments off

Like some other people pointed out, you should find a MR2 with blown motor, but otherwise decent condition. Take drivetrain and all the other "goodies" and put it in.
That engine needs to come out anyway, or it might atleast be useful so you can get a good look at the plumping to the engine aswell

Trunk was probably cut for a trunk mount intercooler, popular on these.
I have lots of spare OEM parts and a fresh 3GSTE + CT26b. Holler if you need anything!
Uhhhh...no. You DO NOT want damaged and badly repaired structure on a track car. No way, no how. The increased stresses from driving the car rapidly on a track - usually on grippier-than-street tires - will cause that shoddy repair to fail in short order. I doubt it would pass a proper trackside tech inspection. Compactc9 is correct: this is the parts car.

Thought about starting such a project myself BUT I always worry about the shape of the engine and if it would be worth putting money in the car when u dont know if the prev.owners took care of the engine or not. So good luck hope everything works out n a couple cool videos are coming soon
Here in the UK i bought a spotless Jap import 12 odd years ago. The guy that sold me the car on a test drive said we will get it up on a ramp by going to a exhaust shop and ask them to check out a possible leak. Whilst on the ramp he pointed mods which included strengthening plates in the area where the above car has been welded up. Seems breaking there is a common problem. Something to look out for.
Don't get a parts car. Get a shell and use this as the parts car! :)

Check the ecu pins, I had this issue with the swapped gen 2 3sgte I purchased for the lack of power steering, also your speedometer most likely won't work, doesn't look like previous owner swapped the dash, that mr2 most likely used a mechanical speed sensor and the gen 2 3sgte used an electrical speed sensor

Please let me know how you get on with the power steering, I have the same problem. Mine has a reservoir but somebody has clearly modified it. My boot lid is also the same, doesn't like up either 🤔. Overall I'm 6000k in the hole and only just got the engine solid

You should buy another mr2 shell and nust swap part in between the 2 cars to make one nice mr2.

Common problem on MR2 is the front anti roll bar tares itself away from the sub frame. I had a mint car do the same thing and had a plate made and welded on to reinforce this weak point.
Tavarish don't listen to this haters... This Car can be repair.! Keep doing your thing, it will be hard but, where's the fun if it's not hard to repair..! 1- engine & tranny 2- shocks & springs 3- cooling sistem 4- sub frame damage & electrical, Its a nice project

This is gonna take a while... but if you gut it and rebuild it into a track monster, it'd be rad. Just don't know if it's worth it on this car. No bumpers with custom crash bars would look sick.

Looks like it used to belong to a teenager or two who didn't know much about working on cars and had very little money, so they did what they could to do to keep it running. Also the obligatory cheapo shitty cosmetic mods most teenagers do.
