@@christophermorin585 : After a couple of weeks using the Honeycomb Alpha I can say that it is definitely as you described in your review! I'm very happy with it and have had no issues at all. I discovered that you can assign button combinations in MAFS2020 to get even more use out of the buttons than using its stock configuration. First of all, I really love this yoke however mine came with a flaw that I only noticed after a while. It became erratic at some point and everything but accurate. Lucky for me the fix was easy! It appeared that the nut that fixes the rotary potentiometer wasn't tight enough and it caused the disturbance. Initially I thought the pots were just a bit dirty so I cleaned them with special spray but this only helped a little bit. To access the yoke is really easy, just remove eight bolts on the bottom of the unit and the cover can be removed. I bet I'm not the only one who received a yoke with a rotary potentiometer that needs tightening (after a while) It's an easy fix, no need to ship the unit back to the manufacturer and wait for months until it's returned.
@@isaacreicin4836 I totally dropped the ball on the bravo. I didn't realize until this morning that they did the pre-order. I went on to get one but from what I saw it sold out in like 3 minutes.
Getting mine tomorrow as well. I'm getting back in Flight Sim with FS2020 after a 8 year break. I am really excited about it, just a little concerned about possible bad performance of the FS. Anyways. Finally flying again and this time with decent hardware!
Yup I'm a bit worried my GTX 970 won't be enough even though it's listed as "recommend" because im trying to run it in 4k. But I think if you scale down the settings I'd bet you could get it running! Depending on how it performs I might make a video about performance tweaks, we shall see.
I ordered this from Gulf Coast Avionics a few weeks ago and as soon as I ordered it they were out of stock so I got seriously lucky. I fricken love it! No experience with other yokes but from what I've seen they are very "plasticy" toyish feeling compared to this. I don't want to spend $1k on a yoke either so this was perfect. Love the power/avionics switches right there and the key start up for the smaller planes is just choice like no other. I cannot wait for the Bravo throttle quad it has it all with switches, 6 quads and trim wheel. As for a dead zone, didn't notice. but i think you can adjust that out like on steering wheels if it's an issue. My one and only complaint is that when my computer sleeps ( once is ok ) it will not recognize the yoke and not work or respond or show up in MSFS2020. Usually unplug/plug or a quick restart and it's back to normal. Or i figured out that if I unplug it before I turn on PC then plug in it's fine....weird.
In this video I was flying a Warrior II from JustFlight (JustFlight PA28 Warrior_II). They have alot of Pipers, and this one was reasonably accurate compared to flying the real-deal so I'd hope the quality continues for the rest of them. Sadly, i don't see any 235's from them. But if you're okay with a solid PA28 simulation, even if it's not the 235, I can recommend them. I'm just waiting for someone to bring a PA-28 into MSFS 2020... Take care!
Hi & Thanks for your review ! I received my Saitek Yoke and I am quite disappointed about the pitch reaction (too sensitive). I replaced the inside board by the famous BUO836 (Leo Bodnar) in order to enhance the deadzone effect + installed elastic bands also ! Whatever the settings inside FS2020 (sensitivity parameters like reaction) I am still struggling against the Yoke to keep control of my aircraft (C152) during approach and flare ! That was not the case with my older joystick (kiss landings...). I feel the plane slightly unstable and difficult to fly ! The flight controls are too sensitive (or smooth) even with correct settings... So I guess I should purchase the Honeycomb system instead ! Do you feel some "resistance" (pitch and roll) like in a real aircraft ? Is it difficult to find the proper settings under FS2020 (Commands) in order to get a nice Yoke reaction/sensitivity ? Thanks (from France)
Awesome review! I have a saitek yoke/throttle quadrant however it's hard to enjoy flying with the damn thing. The dead zone and rough rough make minor adjustments difficult. I'm about ready to purchase the Honeycomb alpha yoke but would LOVE a throttle quadrant by the time MSFS2020 comes out.
I want the Bravo so bad! Is your throttle USB or is it the combo that has to plug into the yoke? If it's the former at least it could get you by for a bit. I forgot about the small adjustments - I used the Saitek for a few months and the limited range of motion really does hurt it. It's very hard to find a sensitivity scale that makes it feel anywhere near realistic. Even if you can get it "usable", it still always was lacking.
Interesting and not the first review of this yoke that I've seen. That said, they're out of stock in the UK right now and that prompted me to look into fixes for my existing Saitek yoke. Fortunately there is. Remove the springs and replace with rubber bands. Then add a Leobodnar joystick board and what you get an hour later, is a night and day difference for no more than £30 upgrade, smooth, no centre detent, trims well and great resolution. Thingiverse has a 180 degree movement fix but I realise that this is not of the shelf either. It is what it is, but for now, given that I already have the switch panel, I don't feel compelled to change anymore. I'm going to look to replace the inner plastic parts with linear bearings and replace the thrust bearing with bearings. I probably would have bought the Honeycomb yoke had it been in stock but it isn't so that's that for me. :)
Great review. I use the ch yoke and yes it’s made cheaply. I would like to upgrade to the honeycomb. I just have one question: my computer desk has a slide out draw that holds the keyboard. It looks like the clamps on the honeycomb will get in the way of the draw. Can that large square baseplate be mounted to the desktop without the clamps ? I would be ok if I had to drill into the desktop.
OK. First off, it's a good yoke, far better than the Saitek but it has flaws. I even tried to get some reaction from Honeycomb to my issue but no reply was forthcoming, nada. That's not very polite so I set out to find my own solution. The issue is that the pitch control, during fine movements in the flare, is slightly jerky, or sticky but definitely not smooth. This is a real shame because they already have the solution partially licked by using linear bearings on the double rail guide mechanism under the hood. They strangely proceed to use a nylon bush to guide the yokes spindle and I discovered that this is where the stickiness comes from. As an engineer, and always trying to improve a product already on the market, I dismantled the yoke and removed the spindle boss that the shaft of the yoke runs through. I removed the nylon bush and replaced it with a linear bearing after a little turning and reworking and it has transformed the yoke. No more jerky, sticky resistance to contend with. These linear bearings are SO cheap, under £10 for 12 number, linear bearings !! They out perform the nylon bush by miles. I fly a real world GA aeroplane and don't expect a jerky action and now my Honeycomb yoke copies the feel more accurately. I would urge Honeycomb to make this improvement in manufacture. It will not be an expensive thing to do. I'd be quite happy to convert the yokes of anyone interested in making this undoubted improvement to their simulator experience. I'd also be happy to talk to Honeycomb as well, if they are interested in improving their product.
I fly a real plane (a Cessna 172 and occasionally a few other aircraft). I also have a lowly CH Products yoke and pedals which have served me well for quite a few years, but since I learned about Honeycomb, I was eager to upgrade. The other day, a simming friend of mine received the Honeycomb yoke he ordered and I eagerly tried it out anticipating that I would be getting one myself. I was both pleased and disappointed. This aspect of the Honeycomb is totally unrealistic to me and unless I can figure out a reasonable way to lessen the tension on the springs, I'm inclined to stick with what I already have and be happy with that!
Sadly, I don't. I had the Saitek pedals but I just hated them and gave them to a friend. I'm kinda regretting that right now, because having some sort of pedals are better than none now that I'm actually doing flight training. But I'm trying to hold out for the Honeycomb Charlie pedals, which some people are guessing will be out sometime in the first half of next year. After several months of using this yoke that a friend bought for his system, I don't like it and neither does he since he's selling it. While it's definitely well constructed, it seems to miss the mark and provides a significantly less satisfying experience overall than a relatively cheap CH Yoke. At least the CH Yoke provides throttle, prop pitch, fuel mixture, flap and landing gear controls that are usable without having to buy anything extra. Also annoying to me is that while they bothered to include an ignition switch, they put it on the wrong side of the panel and didn't bother to spring load the "start" position and I still hate the excessive resistance in the elevator axis. Aesthetically this thing is pleasing, but in terms of functionality, especially for the cost, it stinks.
I can easily believe this is a really good product because everyone is saying so but this review feels more like an ad since it doesn't seem to include a single thing that's negative opting to make a positive even out of the single negative thing mentioned (dead zone). Both the out of context clip about the resolution when all the other yokes they tested were at a similar level and the clip about how logitech saitek is is the same price once you add a switch panel (somebody forgot that the logitech saitek does come with a throttle quadrant while this doesn't) rub me the wrong way. It does seem to be true that this yoke offers a good compromise between the insanely expensive pro gear and the cheaper products. Here again I really don't see how Logitech or CH Products are "toy manufacturers" though.
Don't forget to mention that the yoke comes without any useful and understandable documentation. Had I knew it in advance I would have not buy it. By the way, the Aerosoft clip is a joke. So, please Mr. Morin say it clearly that you advertise an object, not a product. I erred. There is a manual. But, it is an insult to average intelligence to call this PDF file a Manual. What a shame!

Price is very high. No throttle and it's three times more expensive than the Logitech yoke with throttle.
suggestion, low your mic gain and echos, I can hear all your saliva. but still a good vid
Ew, that sucks. I think it's the compression. I'll adjust it in the future, thanks!
@@christophermorin585 lowering your "gain" will resolve the problem
i don't like the rubberized plastic and wish company's would move away from it or would just have 2 models one with it and onw without it
There's a dead zone
This is making me so disappointed that I bought a Logitech 🙁
Don't forget to mention that the yoke comes without any useful and understandable documentation. Had I knew it in advance I would have not buy it. By the way, the Aerosoft clip is a joke. So, please Mr. Morin say it clearly that you advertise an object, not a product.
I erred. There is a manual. But, it is an insult to average intelligence to call this PDF file a Manual. What a shame!
Ha LOL affordable
go buy a cheap ch ...dont spend money on this hype...cost lots of money,,,,
