His emotions flow through his voice and his presentation of the lyrics. Viking, like usual, you feel the song as you do all of Dan's videos. I think what you're seeing is, that Dan is what is called an old soul. He sings every word from a place of deep wisdom, experience, and power. And oh yes, he get us all in the feels, Dan is really good at getting us in those feels.
Thanks for showing this. Dan had a tough time to go through, but I think he learned a lot from it. In the last livestream that I've seen, he mentioned that if you ever encounter a problem, don't let it grow into a dragon; instead, fight it soon, while it's still just a lizard.

Hi Viking. I lost my partner of 35 years to depression and it is the hardest of times. He tried everything but nothing helped. He just wanted peace after 55 years of darkness (since he was 6 yrs old)I tried to help and get him help but we could not savee him. ❤ enjoy your comments!

I was very young and happy when we met and ended up a mentally beaten woman taking his anger. But I am still here and trying to rebuild myself. You are all so great. Today a Satur Dan Day with a difference. Many of Dan's older covers are so beautifully sung and unfortunately aren't seen that often. It's a shame for those who didn't do this. Dan was going through a difficult time and his message of "Don't give up" is more relevant every day than ever. I too am someone who has experienced this serious crisis. “Don’t give up” is easier said than done. Only with the help of those around me can I now sit at the tablet and comment on their reaction. True, my bud from 1976, took his own life 2 weeks ago, this song hit hard. We were 5, through primary and secondary school. Went to the army, in the 80's, we had the border wars between SA and Angola. The constant strain and what we witnessed there hit hard, remember we were 19/20, at the time. The 1st one did it in 1995 and now the 2nd one. Another died in his sleep, natural causes. Now we are 2 left, from those years, both of us is fine, because of the family structure we have, but I would lie, if I say I don't sometimes think back, and see, and even taste death, now 40 years later. It is a constant struggle.

I first knew I had depression at age 9, before I knew its name. I bought over-the-counter sleeping pills, and when the cashier asked me questions, I said they were for my mother. I kept them for a long time. I have fought this demon my my whole life, and Dan has struggled with this demon, also. That’s a reason he is able to reach out in this way. His voice is a wonderful comfort to me, as well as others. I wish my cousin and nephew, who fell victim to this illness, had gotten a chance to hear his wonderful, understanding voice. Love you so much, Viking. Tell your wife I love her, too.❤️❤️
Soulful. The first time I heard Dan sing this last year 2023 I had tears of empathy. I am very lucky to not suffer from depression but I have friends who do. I feel all I can do is encourage them to get help and try to be supportive. I thank you for this Viking.
OMG ... thank you for bringing this song to my attention! Dan is one of my favorite singers but I had not heard this one. I had a breakdown in 2015 and I wish I had heard this then and it may have saved me that pain. I tried suicide but someone found me and then I was mentally comatosed for a while, so I feel your pain over your recent loss.. I send my love to you all and again THANK YOU for your content as it keeps me in a good place and you are a lovely compassionate human being .. I cry tears with you when you react .
There is a lot of time I don't feel loved, I am suffering but I guess that's why I listen to Dan. I am hurting still after years of an abusive marriage being told all the time, no one else would ever want or love me but I finally got away but those words still haunt me to this day. I have not been with another man since him. My best friend whom I confided in, was brutally murdered quite a few years ago. Both my parents have passed, I try to put on a brave face in public but life is tough everyday, & the thought of being around for another 40 odd years doesn't give me a lot of hope. I've always loved Josh Groban & my Sister and Mom saw him in concert years ago. Having just discovered Dan at the time I saw he'd done this cover, I was a bit skeptical at first about him doing it justice, but I was sooo pleasantly surprised when I heard him sing this. Just another "Wow!" moment that's become the norm with Dan. Even back then, you can see & hear that voice, emotion, etc. I'm fairly sure he did this when coming out of that period of depression that he went through years ago. Another song he did during that time (as umarae had noted in chat) was Heart of Steel. I can't recall if you've reacted to that one. Intro to it is going to require subtitles as he's speaking in his native Brazilian Portuguese (a lovely language btw). Another great SaturDANday, Viking! I suffered through depression for years and still do at times I have never listened to this song before but I like it, life is never easy and I sometimes see how my brothers have successful jobs and their own families whereas I don't, it's pretty depressing not that I begrudge them or anything it just makes me depressed, I was also before 2018 out of work for almost a decade only doing courses, It was and still is hard to get into work. I first knew I had depression at age 9, before I knew its name. I bought over-the-counter sleeping pills, and when the cashier asked me questions, I said they were for my mother. I kept them for a long time. I have fought this demon my my whole life, and Dan has struggled with this demon, also. That’s a reason he is able to reach out in this way. His voice is a wonderful comfort to me, as well as others. I wish my cousin and nephew, who fell victim to this illness, had gotten a chance to hear his wonderful, understanding voice. Love you so much, Viking. Tell your wife I love her, too.❤️❤️

Soulful. The first time I heard Dan sing this last year 2023 I had tears of empathy. I am very lucky to not suffer from depression but I have friends who do. I feel all I can do is encourage them to get help and try to be supportive. I thank you for this Viking.
Be there for them not only when they ask but show up or invite them. It may take a few tries but it does help to be noticed.

OMG ... thank you for bringing this song to my attention! Dan is one of my favorite singers but I had not heard this one. I had a breakdown in 2015 and I wish I had heard this then and it may have saved me that pain. I tried suicide but someone found me and then I was mentally comatosed for a while, so I feel your pain over your recent loss.. I send my love to you all and again THANK YOU for your content as it keeps me in a good place and you are a lovely compassionate human being .. I cry tears with you when you react .
There is a lot of time I don't feel loved, I am suffering but I guess that's why I listen to Dan. I am hurting still after years of an abusive marriage being told all the time, no one else would ever want or love me but I finally got away but those words still haunt me to this day. I have not been with another man since him. My best friend whom I confided in, was brutally murdered quite a few years ago. Both my parents have passed, I try to put on a brave face in public but life is tough everyday, & the thought of being around for another 40 odd years doesn't give me a lot of hope. That song you just played is lovely I hope one day I can heed it's message I hope I don't sound selfish. Thank you Viking I do love your reactions.

I've always loved Josh Groban & my Sister and Mom saw him in concert years ago. Having just discovered Dan at the time I saw he'd done this cover, I was a bit skeptical at first about him doing it justice, but I was sooo pleasantly surprised when I heard him sing this. Just another "Wow!" moment that's become the norm with Dan. Even back then, you can see & hear that voice, emotion, etc. I'm fairly sure he did this when coming out of that period of depression that he went through years ago.
Another song he did during that time (as umarae had noted in chat) was Heart of Steel. I can't recall if you've reacted to that one. Intro to it is going to require subtitles as he's speaking in his native Brazilian Portuguese (a lovely language btw).

I suffered through depression for years and still do at times I have never listened to this song before but I like it, life is never easy and I sometimes see how my brothers have successful jobs and their own families whereas I don't, it's pretty depressing not that I begrudge them or anything it just makes me depressed, I was also before 2018 out of work for almost a decade only doing courses, It was and still is hard to get into work.
