This is a problem for many films but yeah it's pretty boring when writers can't make something without referencing lines from previous films due to being so creatviely bankrupt
Alarm bells are going off in my head with the knowledge of what BRIDGE is telling people and how the HR stuff is saying to deal with DEI. Watch for themes in movies and TV shows people, watch for a subtler form of the message. And when you do, reject it even if you get everything else you want, because the message being there is the proof of it being corrupted.
It'd be great if, like Marvel, DC cleaned house as well. Batman deserves far better than what he's been given in the past decade or so. Seriously, in my eyes, entertainment from 2015 - to now close to 2025 has been in a dark age. The Force Awakens helped usher in the nonsense with the killing of beloved icons, like Han Solo. And nearly every franchise and character was hijacked to carry some godless, perverse, ideological agenda.
Deadpool and Wolverine had many writing and storytelling problems. It had all the same weaknesses as your typical MCU movie: weak writing; addiction to member berries, cameos and easter eggs; lame villains; loud, messy third acts; and so on. DPW is easily the worst Deadpool movie and the worst MCU film (worse than Love and Thunder, Ant Man 3 and The Marvels). It was two hours of SNL and Robot Chicken jokes. It was an epic mess, without an epic story.
The ONLY reason this movie turned out so well was because of Ryan Reynolds. He fought so hard behind the scenes for the script, and an "R" rating. Kevin Feige was also busy focusing on other movies and TV shows.
The success of Deadpool and wolverine is due only to the fact that people love Ryan Reynolds and Hugh jackman and thier portrayal of their respective characters and has absolutely nothing to do with Disney or Marvel at all. After this the sludge will continue to flow.
Don't believe it. Disney must be defunded. Stop watching it! When they have to sell Star Wars or Marvel, that is when I will watch those properties again.
And the fresh revelations of HUGE scenes cut with She Hulk and Capt. Marvel. Ryan was going to have no part of their woke inclusion shoehorned in by Disney Execs. Even not to allow these clips on the extended version or deleted scenes cut. Just wow! He really took a stand!
yea if anything the opening scene reflects this imagine Deadpool is Deadpool and all the agents trying to arrest him are Disney Execs trying to stop him from making an actually good movie
Nutsa posted a video yesterday about the Last Jedi, where she noted that the thing which really emphasises fan's rage based metaphors, is the fact that Ryan Jonson deliberately went against! what people wanted. Force awakens and Rise of sky walker were just bad because Jarjar Abrams didn't know how to tell a story people would like, Last Jedi was deliberately constructed to be bad, by taking things that people would like, and doing the opposite. The powers that be of Hollywood have always known how to write good stories, or at least who to hire to create good stories (look at their recruiting indi graphic artists to redraw ugly sonic), but they deliberately choose writers and producers who will do the precise opposite, didn't Reynolds have to basically bully his way into making the deadpool film? It doesn't matter if a few woke producers get the symbolic axe, if the people who hired them are just going to hire different wokesters for the next project. How many times has Bob Iger trotted out the line about: "we're going to just focus on entertainment", now, and what change have we ever seen? Don't get me wrong, I'd love a return to sanity and good story telling as much as anyone, but as the people of Westeros might say: "words are wind!" And as the people of Westeros might also say: "It doesn't matter how many quizlings the Lannister's send to the wall, so long as Jofrey or Circi sits on the iron throne, since there is always another Janos Slint!"
Taking back Marvel is like taking back a cheating spouse. Are they sorry? Sure! Will they make some changes? Maybe. Can you ever trust them again? Nope!
around the time of Quantumania, I remember saying that "the only thing the MCU could do to make me start getting invested in it again post Endgame is to drop basically everything and introduce Dr. Doom". Well I got what I asked for so I for one will be paying close attention to how Phase 5 develops.
Tell that to Donald J. Trump. He repeatedly failed to deliver on his personal guarantees to the banks. Also, since when does fighting identity politics with more identity politics ever achieve anything good?
Here is something we have known since the beginning of story telling: Males like to, and need to, connect with tough, strong, wise, leading, male role models..... And women like to look at and enjoy tough, strong, wise, leading men. Women like to be inspired by beautiful, confident, athletic women - and, shockingly, men like to watch beautiful, confident, athletic females.
Even if they genuinely are making a change. There is still superhero fatigue and oversaturation of the market to deal with. Will that make things harder? It’s still gonna take some time to win back the fans’ hearts and minds
To answer your question, no. This will not be a turning point for them and only a complete and total boycott by the movie-going public will teach them any lesson. Since the majority of people don't have the discipline, it'll never happen, they'll never learn their lesson, and things will continue to get worse.

@@agentbrown5542exactly, while there is some intersection of culture and politics on this channel, that doesn't mean it's a good place to get political insight. Also my biggest gripe with MARVEL is not growing with their audience! Imagine you're 8 years old seeing Iron Man and Incredible Hulk in the cinema, you are now 24 years old! Your entire upbringing has involved the greatest cinematic shared universe experience ever put to screen you've seen 20+ movies all connected and you've grown up with these movies. Time should lead to maturity yet the MCU is going backwards on this and trying to appeal to new kids today rather than the audience who helped them become such a success. Deadpool and Wolverine worked simply because it was a homage to superhero films Blade was 26years ago, Xmen 24 years, Eleketra 19ish years ago,, AND PEOPLE SHOWED UP for this! The answer is right there they are trying to reach new audiences while ignoring their devoted fans they don't deserve anymore trust they've let people down so much recently
Funny. I'll never go back. They're insults completely alienated me, and they showed their true faces of contempt while preaching to us about remaining locked down and masked up in 2020. So no, I feel too much contempt for them to return to worship them at the theater-temples.
If the leadership hasn't changed, Disney hasn't changed. The people in authority have made their desires and intentions clear, and they aren't simply going to abandon those because of the discontented masses (even if said masses are a majority of their audience) or financial hardship. Their desire is to alter society and culture into what they want it to be. They believe they dictate terms to us, not the other way around. Theirs is a long-term strategy--not to appeal to values and norms currently held by society--but to change those values and norms, so that the ideology they espouse in their propaganda will be consumed voraciously without question. It's been going on for decades with great success; the difference is their lack of subtlety and a ramp-up of intensity. Movies like this are only allowed to exist for two reasons: regain some of the money being hemorrhaged as they pursue their higher goal, and to trick people into thinking they've made a change in order to milk a bit more money from their next offerings...which may try to be a little more subtle in the messaging. Sad part is, many people want to watch their stuff, so it doesn't take much for them to overlook or justify anything less than egregious affronts to decency.
This ain't no turning point 'cause they haven't figured out spit. They'll see the success of Deadpool/Wolverine and take the wrong lessons from it. They'll aim for more obnoxious films set in multiverses.
It's hard to say how big of an effect one movie can have and how long it will take for studios to take the hint. When John Wayne made the Green Berets in 1968 it was at the height of anti-war and anti-conservative values. The critics panned it, there were protests at the theaters but it made 32 million on a 7 million dollar budget (at a time when you could buy a new car for under $1000) because the traditional audience was still there. After that it wouldn't be until you started getting Jaws (1975) Rocky (1976) and Star Wars (1977) in the mid 70's that you started to see the course correction.
Disney tried to fail but Ryan wouldn't allow it. I think they're actually kind of sad that they're looking at a success. I'm sure more sneering girl bosses will be on the way, because it's what they do best.
Another thing I never understood, was they announced a new show or movie and state that this movie isn’t for everyone. I guess I never understood, isn’t your goal to try and make a movie that appears to the general public? Stating it’s not for everyone means that, it’s probably not gonna do very well at the box office. I mean after all, they’re not some Indy film company.
I just want entertainment. Plain and simple. No agenda. No politics. Just a good story with good actors and good production. Just an escape not a message.
I think fired is not the right term, Marvel probably export its producers to Lucasfilm. Internal reshuffling doesnt consider firing otherwise it would have been in news.
No, because as you pointed out, the main reason this is doing well is solely because of Hugh Jackman returning, that's it. Had this just been another Deadpool flick with some other character cameos it would have done well, but not this level of success. I would also argue this is not actually an official MCU flick. And lastly Deadpool is a one trick pony that cannot be used much further than this trilogy. This character is now pretty much done because another solo Deadpool flick will definitely not do as well and the character cannot be inserted into anything remotely serious.
Star Wars died with Luke Skywalker. The Mandalorian temporarily revived it, but like Chef on South Park, better to remember Star Wars how it was before that fruity little club got to it.
I am perfectly happy with female or other 'diverse' hero characters in television and film, as long as they are simply used as a hero in a story. When they have character development beyond just their quota. Remember Wonder Woman? Black Panther? Falcon? Miles Morales? Captain Janeway? Captain Sisko? They were all heroes because of who they were and what they did. Not because of which diversity box they checked. Why is it so difficult for writers to simply write good characters in good stories?
This movie is the exception and not the "new" norm...this IS Disney, don't fall for the same sh*tty moves! 😁

The fact that Marvel can’t make a successful movie without appealing to nostalgia is deeply problematic.
This is a problem for many films but yeah it's pretty boring when writers can't make something without referencing lines from previous films due to being so creatviely bankrupt
It worked for Spider-Man and Deadpool/Wolverine, but if they keep going down this direction there’s nothing NEW to be excited about.
Every time i get my hopes up on this matter, i get disappointed all over again. But, will see
Watched this at the weekend. It’s ok, not great but ok 👍🏻. A step in the right direction!
Yeah, I felt the same way. Not amazing, just fine.
Marvel still sucks
Until Kennedy is moldering in her solid gold Star Wars themed casket, Lucasfilm will be a lost cause.
U have a knack for great content!
The ONLY reason this movie turned out so well was because of Ryan Reynolds. He fought so hard behind the scenes for the script, and an "R" rating.
Kevin Feige was also busy focusing on other movies and TV shows.
It’s a bait and switch just like Spider-Man no Way home was they’ll get back to the bullshit. Woke Ness in no time.
yea 100% post No Way Home
what exactly has Marvel done since ..........
They found out instead of “Male and Pale is Stale” It’s actually Male Movie Make Money.🤑
They have to change if they want to make money.
Not really. All Disney has to do is jingle nostalgia keys in front of people and they show up for their mediocre sequels.
I'm not getting my hopes up yet. Been burned too many times.
I just hope that Deadpool and Wolverine isn't a "one off" and just continue pushing woke crap.
What, like a gender swapped Professor X? 🤣
The higher ups at disney have not changed
@davidm4566 They're so accustomed to it now they think it's normal.
Implying the film didn't do it too.
I'm afraid it is. To them, it's success is a "fluke".
I'm so not interested in mainstream entertainment. Moving on....
SHOUT OUT TO DAVE FOR SAVING MY LIFE BACK IN 2020
THE REAL ONES KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT
YOU SAVED ME!
YOU CHANGED MY LIFE!
The success of Deadpool and wolverine is due only to the fact that people love Ryan Reynolds and Hugh jackman and thier portrayal of their respective characters and has absolutely nothing to do with Disney or Marvel at all. After this the sludge will continue to flow.
This is a one off for Marvel/Disney. Nothing will change and garbage will continue until they are bankrupt or sold.
Success, despite itself, is no 'turning point'.
Whether I watch it or not doesn't matter. They will never get a dollar from me.
"Is this a turning point?"
Optimistic me: Maybe...time will tell.
Realistic me: Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.
Make no mistake DxW was filled to the brim with the same garbo. The only difference, is that it wasn't the main focus or highlight of the film.
To quote Obi Wan, "He's more machine than man now. Twisted and evil".
Lucasfilm executive: "Stay on target!"
Don't believe it. Disney must be defunded. Stop watching it! When they have to sell Star Wars or Marvel, that is when I will watch those properties again.
"The question is, is this the turning point"
No, the question is, "do i give a shit anymore"
SIH woke.
.
Where 'H' means Hell and 'S' means Suffer.
And the fresh revelations of HUGE scenes cut with She Hulk and Capt. Marvel. Ryan was going to have no part of their woke inclusion shoehorned in by Disney Execs. Even not to allow these clips on the extended version or deleted scenes cut. Just wow! He really took a stand!
they learn nothing they will fight succuess at every turn.
yea if anything the opening scene reflects this
imagine Deadpool is Deadpool
and all the agents trying to arrest him are Disney Execs trying to stop him from making an actually good movie
Don't get me wrong, I'd love a return to sanity and good story telling as much as anyone, but as the people of Westeros might say: "words are wind!"
And as the people of Westeros might also say: "It doesn't matter how many quizlings the Lannister's send to the wall, so long as Jofrey or Circi sits on the iron throne, since there is always another Janos Slint!"
Taking back Marvel is like taking back a cheating spouse. Are they sorry? Sure! Will they make some changes? Maybe. Can you ever trust them again? Nope!
If they haven't learnt after the first few years, they never will.. it's outright defiance
I just want movies made for older people like me ... sigh ...
around the time of Quantumania, I remember saying that "the only thing the MCU could do to make me start getting invested in it again post Endgame is to drop basically everything and introduce Dr. Doom". Well I got what I asked for so I for one will be paying close attention to how Phase 5 develops.
It’s a shame they are gonna think it’s color and not the terrible writing
Maybe the change is in me. I find that I just don't care about Disney anymore.
Male and Pale cannot Fail!
Lol Anything can fail if fans just aren't interested
Tell that to Donald J. Trump. He repeatedly failed to deliver on his personal guarantees to the banks. Also, since when does fighting identity politics with more identity politics ever achieve anything good?
@@scinnyc You completely missed my point.
@@cmedeir You have no point. You just repeated what you heard him say in the video
@@scinnyc it’s called subtlety. Sorry if you missed it.
White and pale makes the sale!
Nope. The Rainbow Reds push until we scream, they back off juuuust enough until the screaming stops, then they push again.
Even if they genuinely are making a change. There is still superhero fatigue and oversaturation of the market to deal with. Will that make things harder?
It’s still gonna take some time to win back the fans’ hearts and minds
There's no "superhero fatigue" only bad woke superhero movie fatigue. If they did them well, people would eat it up.
A turning point? To quote the guy who caused an avalanche:
"OH YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!"
To answer your question, no. This will not be a turning point for them and only a complete and total boycott by the movie-going public will teach them any lesson. Since the majority of people don't have the discipline, it'll never happen, they'll never learn their lesson, and things will continue to get worse.
I live in hope that one day the entire Disney Star Wars cannon will just be thrown in the bin and we can start again.
I doubt they will wake up.
I hope this is the turning point. We can use good entertaining more than ever.
'1 swallow does not make summer.'
Im not watching anything anymore.
The movie was only good because Ryan Reynolds was involved. After this, it's back to regular woke programming.
yea that's the truth Ryan Reynolds is simply a Phenomenal Actor 99% of things you put him in will be good because of his influence
Hugh Jackman is also really good to i admit when i heard Deadpool was teaming up with Wolverine i was like why ?
but no in fairness it was a great move
Best Deadpool movie of the trilogy and it's probably gonna break 1 Billion at the Box before it's done
X-men started as serious sci-fi...but ended and continued as a parody...
I joined your channel during that "flu season" that lasted a few years, and I found your videos informative and helpful, my question is, given everything thats going on currently with the riots in the UK and northern Ireland is this kind of video really the most important and informative? I and I assume many others are eager to hear your view on whats going on right now.
Why? I didn't watch Jeremy Jahns for his take on the BLM riots/protests.
I mean if Dave wants to then fine but not sure what you expect.
@@agentbrown5542exactly, while there is some intersection of culture and politics on this channel, that doesn't mean it's a good place to get political insight. Thinking that someone can give you solid info just becuase they come from a place is no different from woke thinking. For example, most of the best sources on the war in Ukraine are niether Russian, nor Ukrainian...
There's Tim Pool, Steven Crowder and Ben Shapiro for such a content. Dave found his niche as a film critic and he's good at it
@@qZbGmYjS4QusYqv5 outside of Shapiro, the other two are quite questionable in terms of actual facts
Did any of you watch his old videos during the "flu"? It's not that we just want daves opinion, we also want his coverage and perspective, given that the msm is currently framing them all as "far right" and not addressing the elephant in the room, and speaking personally, I found daves old videos about politics, corruption and the wef etc were far more interesting than whining about lgbtq in movies and shows every other day.
I think they'll go back to making mistakes. This will be a one off.
I'll believe Marvel has turned the page on the M-She-U when I see Norin Radd as the live action Silver Surfer again.
One word - trash
Don’t waste your time and money
I still feel like there's a lot of woke crap coming out like that new Batman animated series on prime
No. Next question.
I think Deadpool needs to make a visit to the Star Wars universe to make fun of it. Then maybe Disney will clean hoise at LucasFilm. Lol
Thanks Dave
It's a real shame that this kind of change won't be coming to Star Wars. Or Star Trek either for that matter. *sigh*
They purge the rats out, but the rats will crawl to Lucasfilm now.
This ain't no turning point 'cause they haven't figured out spit. They'll see the success of Deadpool/Wolverine and take the wrong lessons from it. They'll aim for more obnoxious films set in multiverses.
Even with Deadpool literally saying that the Marvel multiverse is played out and they need to stop
The MCU is on it's death bed
As the Critical Drinker said, there's a lot of awful stuff still in the pipeline, so dont expect overnight change.
There is no way that a Rated R movie and Ryan being the face of Marvel. If they did , RDJ would not have been tapped.
